- The turn of the century was an important one for gaming, with the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox pushing for more mature and arguably violent experiences over the family-friendly platformers that dominated the last three generations. Amongst the genre-defining hits, Remedy Entertainment developed a game that felt way ahead of its time in the form of Max Payne.
The unprecedented success of the game quickly called for a sequel, and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne was conceived shortly after. The game was released on October 14th, 2003 for the PC, PS2, and Xbox. More than 18 years later, Max Payne 2 still stands tall as one of gaming's finest with a dedicated fan-following still clamoring for a remaster, a remake, or a sequel of any form. Its legacy, the fandom, and the sheer creativity beautifully coalesce together to make Max Payne 2 simply put, one hell of a game.
I still remember playing this on my PC years ago, it feels like yesterday.
Max's voice while narrating throughout the game still plays in my head.
What a great game this was.
Same with me, i remember playing this game everyday when i lived in my home country, i didnt knew any English at the time so i didn’t understand the game completely but i enjoyed every bit of it, i now want to replay it but i dont find any way to, fun times.
I finished this earlier today I love this game can’t wait for the remake

I’d say MGS2, then GTA 3, and Max Payne 2. Honestly no video game has stayed at the level these games have stayed at all these years later. Just my opinion tho. Obviously very subjective.

I played this game almost everyday for 2 years. The ragdoll physics and environmental destruction blew me away
I'd intentionally get killed on scaffoldings and shit to watch him ragdoll down them while taking down random parts of it with his flailing limbs. The quick save/load buttons were spammed a lot lol.

Id kill for a full ground up remaster/remake of 1 and 2 with the same story, music and dialogue and a simple remaster of 3. One of the greatest franchises in gaming history.

@@SaberRexZealot Don't mistake me, I do love max payne 3 so much, however it is the story I am saying it wasen't as good as the first 2. The gameplay is fun, the bullet time events are amazing and more, the game only failed in it's story
I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in this video but Max Payne 2 was the first game I believe to use the Havok physics engine which was a huge step not only for this sequel but gaming in general. Everybody talks about Half-Life 2 amazing physics well Max Payne 2 used it a year earlier it's a game changer in alot of ways how objects and npc's moved in the world.

0:31 turn on V Sync to fix the bullet time glitch for newer computers! The higher above 60fps the engine goes, the more the physics break :)
I played this a lot when i was a KID... and the nightmare sections were scary af... but the game was really cool... still is... it's just so good...

Max payne 3 was alil lacking in some places for me but not bad by any means, but 1 and 2 imo were just better. Plus, Max payne one and two are improved tenfold by its mods. You slap one mod on 2 and it plays more like 3 and its practically perfect (payne evolution) and a great way to play it if u want a fresh experience, while retaining the original tone.
Max Payne 3 on PC is the greatest 3rd person shooter of all time. the combat and gunplay are unmatched to this day.

Rockstar funded the sequel as one of their exchanges to get this IP; their request for the sequel included it only having 16 months to be developed which actually caused Remedy some burnout before heading on to Alan Wake some two years later.
Props to Remedy for creating such a tight masterpiece under such little time!

Rockstars money + Remedys creative freedom made this game a banger. People assume Rockstar made all three. When they only truly made the 3rd one.
Please for the love of god, sell remedy the rights to REMAKE 1+2 akin to what the Resident Evil games did with 2 and 3.
I still remember playing both 1 and 2 and remember the grittiness of it all and how it drew me in. Loved every moment of them both.
I wish they would take MP1 and 2, remake it RE2 style, make it into a 40 hour epic. Amazing story, amazing game.

Many people liked MP3 and i know it deserves, but me as a Catholic MP player i honestly didn't like it, i know i would have liked it as another game for sure but MP for me is 1&2, the neo noir style, the leather jacket, the voice acting, late nights NYC at rainy days, the comic panels..etc

@@tylercouture216 They didn't do anything special for the 20th anniversary nor did they port MP3 to the 8th gen consoles even though when the game released they were right around the corner. We don't have max Payne 2 on mobile devices which seemed like a no brainer.

Max Payne 2, is a game I can call a true Legend. When I was little I saw others playing it and after a while, I got the chance to get a PS2 version of it and go throughout the story. I played nothing but MP2. Now I own it on PC with MP1. It is my best and top game series right after Half-Life.
