    There is a story about Stadler and a college tournament at Torrey Pines South Course. Stadler played for USC, he almost missed his tee time and showed on the first tee in hiking boots. Temp was in the high 50’s and was raining off and on, with 30+ mph winds. Stadler shot 67 and nobody else broke 75 for that round, and just a handful of players broke 80.

    A great example Christo. As a piece of trivia……Stadler was leading the 1982 Masters by 6 shots with 7 holes to play. He bogeyed 4 of the 7 holes (including a 3 putt on 18) and ended up in a sudden death playoff which he won on the first hole.

      Wow, I was on the edge of my set here hoping he would win. I can't believe it. He surw was mad at himself but hung with a steely resolve that only the over the top swing can provide, lest you become a chip shot cookie cutter and lay up and play for third place.

    This is exactly how I swing my club. I can’t find too much info online about my swing. Because of this I tried to adopt a more conventional swing and the results were terrible for me. Lol. I recently reverted back to my natural swing. My last 3 rounds were 78,78, and 80. I’m excited to play again!!!!!

    I might as well be looking in a mirror watching Craig's swing. I'm 51 this year & still hit driver easily over 300. (115 chs, low 2,000 bs) Folks, don't let ppl fix it if it ain't broken. And for those who struggle with too much fade with your irons, just keep the face square to the ball during your backswing. Maybe strengthen your left hand a touch. For some of us, swallowing the club to come from the inside just isn't natural. Thanks for the blast from the past. "The Walrus" was a beast!!

      Thanks for this. I’m struggling with my swing right now. I went to get a lesson and my coach said I’ve got the craig Stadler and I don’t need to change it if it works. But, I’m more steep than him, so I’m trying to shallow out more.

      Oh, and he said he could not market that swing with that posture. This was before Covid 19. Apparently, the public is enamored with the notion of a very straight back in the set-up and swing. It looks neat and tidy. It looks ultra modern.

    Not every shot perfect, but working great for me. I'm pretty much just thinking full turn then hit the ball as hard as I can. Kind of like an ax. The club head rotates automatically I don't even think about "squaring the clubface".
    Again, thank you!

      I thought it was inside-up-out. Where does deep enter the equation? Is it a new variable? I like the idea of the left hip joint being connected to the right shoulder ball joint which is the a of b in the torque creation equation. It plays a role in helping the shoulder load power. As much power as the Holy Spirits swing
      ? No, but close. Thanks, now let us pray.

    • @quantumpotential7639
      @quantumpotential7639 2 года назад

      I emulate Stadlers mid section, his mustache, and swing. Which because of the great results means I don't have much an opportunity to work on my anger side of things. Sometimes however I do get tired of seeing the ball go into the cup after just three shots and have to wait while everyone else is taking bunkers, looking for balls, going back to the tee, or four jacking greens. Speed up play people by going OTT. Thanks

  • @TimC887
    @TimC887 10 месяцев назад

    I feel like the OTT swing is a natural loop unlike a "normal" swing where the transition from backswing to downswing can be a huge issue. I have much better timing with the OTT than a traditional swing.

    Craig Stadler's (CS) swing may not be a thing of beauty but it certainly got the job done. There's a story of a would-be pro playing a friendly with CS at Torrey Pines where with no warm-up, CS shot 65 and the would-be pro crumbled to a 79. That would-be pro later became a sports physio!

      Stadler was a natural talent who used physics of a large core to really store up power and transferring it with his powerful legs to the arms. His mustache added a turbo fan effect to the club which fanned his flame for the KaPoW 💥💥 at the oh wow moment of impact.

    No offense but is isn’t an over the top swing. It’s an inside take away. Much like litzske or Snead to name a few. While the downswing is routed outside the take away none of these players get steep . The left wrist is a huge give away.
