Wildcat wasn't the tallest or the smoothest, but it was damn well a fun ride. It's unfortunate that they had to remove it in 2012, wish they could have at least relocated it to a different part of the park, but it had to go. It was plagued with numerous mechanical problems and accidents and the park needed to make way for bigger rides and attractions. At least some of the cars still exist inside of mean streak's structure. lol
My first visit to Cedar Point was in 2011 when I was 11 years old.... this was the very first coaster I went on! That same day, I also rode Millennium Force. We all know which one was the winner.... lol. It's so interesting to think about how much the park has changed in 9 years.
I rode this roller coaster in 2010. I thought it was a very good ride. To this day, nothing stands in the place where wild cat was. In my opinion, Cedar Point should add a mouse coaster to take its place. It has nearly the same thrill level as wild cat, and would be an excellent family coaster addition to Cedar Point’s coaster lineup!
Might be in the minority, but I miss this coaster! It was the second I ever went on (Iron Dragon right across the path being the first). And on following CP visits, I considered this my "warm-up ride". It looked small from afar, but it was mighty, and those drops and helixes got your body ready for almost everything else the other coasters had to offer except inversions. Definitely wish it was still around, but glad I got to experience it.

An upcharge needs to give riders thrills above and beyond the "normal" rides to justify the low capacity. Things like the ripcord (now Frontier Fling) and the Slingshot are upcharge attractions. A mouse may be planned for the stadium site but it wouldn't be an upcharge

It would have been cool if the Wild Mouse had one of their cars styled as a Wildcat car in homage to the OG - 2+2 seating, headlights, tail lights & and windshield, styled as a 60's convertible..
Everyone is saying they replaced it with a bathroom and sold it so they could get money for Dinosaurs Alive. The ride was actually replaced with a pretty cool show (Luminosity) and they sent it to the scrap yard. The ride had a good run but all good things come to an end. And to everyone saying now they don't have a family coaster, here is some remaining family coasters at Cedar Point. Iron Dragon, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Blue Streak, Gemini and even Corkscrew.
The last time I rode this was in 2002. Seems like the historical roller coasters are gradually going away. There ought to be some way to preserve the old coasters that still survive and put to use else-where if the current park decides to sell them. I'm actually curious as to where the Wildcat from Cedar Point ended up at?
RIP WILDCAT used to be way more painful and rusty when i rode it in the early 2000s looks like it was repainted... sucks its gone with disaster transport and the space tower. cedar point isnt as cool now
I don't get why cedar fair doesn't sell its rides to parks that can use then. They just scrapped this great coaster when it could have been used by so many small parks like Indiana beach. I'm sure they would have chosen this over that zyclon.
The trains were super light and single car trains. The supports don't need to be big if there's multiple. Take a hybrid coaster like Steel Vengeance and Gemini. Compare the structure to Magnum and Millennium.

remember riding it in the 70s, I didn't realize it opened in 79, wasn't there another one before it called the Mouse or something like that
They had another wildcat which closed in 1978 only to place a new one in the next year

I always thought the ride was older than 1979. We had been going very year since the early 70's & I thought I was younger than 16!
They had two rides called Wildcat, one was from 1971-1979, and this is the one that most remember that ran until 2012.

I only rode it maybe 3 times. But it was as good of a to go coaster you will ever get. rickidy rackidy but it was fun.
