@@blackwatchjazz3499 for thrills? I’d have to agree. But I’m with the OC, it’s a nostalgic throwback that was a longer ride and somehow intimate. It was a real treasure as a kid on a hot day, riding all three wet rides. Can’t get that back though.
Of all the rides Cedar Point has torn down over the years, I think I miss this one the most. I"m getting too old and too chicken to ride some of the huge coasters, and this was a nice, relaxing ride that could be enjoyed by almost anyone. The view of the lake was incredible. I talked to a Cedar Point exec and he said the ride needed too much money in repairs and updates to keep around. I would love to see another water ride built, but I don't see it happening after the Shoot The Rapids disaster/removal. I think Cedar Point has to be careful not to focus only on the huge rides. I know that is what brings a lot of people to the park, but I have always felt that the variety of rides is what made Cedar Point the best..
I miss WWL at times, as well, despite how good Maverick is. Whenever I miss it, I just think it's WWL's ghost reminding me to "look back from where you are now, from what you were in the past", and that said, it's a classic and forever will be.
I miss it too. Was a nice break from the day, calm, cool from the tall trees, and very relaxing ride. The collapse of the cave was its sign that it was time to go. I was one of the last few riders on it. Left work and headed straight there and rode it a few times on the last day of the year. Progress sucks, but CP does need another family type of water ride. Sadly STR probably does keep them from wanting to add something like that again. Good memories. Thank for sharing.
I’ve been going to cedar point since like 2000 and I always remembered riding this with my family. Great way to break up the afternoon after we rode coasters and ate. Replaced by a great ride in maverick but would LOVE to see something like this again. And do it right too, no shoot the rapids debacle again! Just a classic family log flume ride
@@solofemaletravelerme our favorite part was once you went up the big lift hill seeing which “track” you ended up on. They had a left and right side that and a little gate dictated what side you were on
I miss this one too! I went to Cedar Point several times with my parents in the early '90s and then a final time with a friends family in 1998. I went back for the first time today after more than 20 years and had a blast. I was disappointed to not find this ride though. This was one of a handful I remembered from my youth. The only water ride we went on, The Snake River Falls was fun but we got completely soaked which was not very pleasant and unexpected. I don't remember getting that wet on this ride.
Snake River Falls is fun, but it lacks the atmosphere and ride length of White Water Landing. Too bad log flumes are so hard to maintain. Everyone seems to love them.
I remember this ride. Loved it so much as a kid. But as sad as it is that it is gone, at least the replacement is now, in my opinion, the best coaster in the park. (Until Steel Vengeance opens, possibly :P.)
I remember when I was little I used to think the rotating platform to get into the boats was the coolest thing in the world. I’m 22 almost 23 now so I wanna say I was 8 when the ride was closed. I was so sad
This ride scared me so much as a kid I remember going on it with my brother as a kid feeling like we were going to go over the side with the water splashing over. We only went on it once though 😅
This was the best water ride. It's a sham it's gone. In my opinion they should build another water ride to replace this and shoot the rapids instead of another roller coaster. Although I do think it would be cool if they could have a Ghostbusters theme going on since they have the roller coaster Gatekeeper. All they need now is the Keymaster. Wishful thinking, I know.
I vividly remember one time riding this when I was young and outside the boat, in the water, literally a big floater. Somebody had pooped and tossed it out the boat. lol wow
Always hated the drop at the ended would beg not to go on it but was forced to anyway. Sadly never got to conquer those fears because they had removed it by the time I got to go back.
It is the queue for Maverick. Cedar Point repurposed the station for Maverick's queue and gift shop. The station and tunnel for Maverick are new buildings. Fun fact! You can still see the canoe entry portal for WWL's station at Maverick. As you walk over the pond on the bridge, look down. The old track for WWL has been repurposed into a small waterfall. :)
Maverick is excellent, but it’s such a shame how many trees the park continues to lose. I wish they made a stronger effort to replace lost trees with new ones.
all the rides after top thrill dragster meant the removal of a different ride.maverick came at the expense of white water landing.windseeker came at the expense of the demon drop.gatekeeper came at the expense of disaster transport & the space spiral.dinosaurs alive came at the expense of paddlewheel excursions valravn came at the expense of the antique cars & the wildcat & cedar point shores came at the expense of the go carts
@BoredMarker When Dragster was installed they moved Troika and Chaos to the east wing by the boardwalk. Chaos was moved to a different park eventually, but Troika is still there.
Windseeker isn't where Demon Drop was. That's where ocean motion sits. It was moved there in 2011. Windseeker is right on the beachfront next to Wicked Twister. Wildcat was removed years before Valravn was installed. Valravn mainly replaced the Good Time theater and Turnpike Cars.
I absolutely loved this ride as a kid. For the most part I hate every one of these big bastard of a coaster coaster they scare me to death, although I will say the mine ride is my favorite of the current rides. But boy back when this one was around it made the whole unhappy experience worth it, I’d wait through the horrid coasters for my parents and watch them ride and ride the ones that I was comfortable with and when we got to this it was my favorite. As an adult who won’t spend money on cedar point cause I like about five of these rides and hate being on the rest, I’d pay the high price just for this ride if it was still standing
The king of water rides! It seemed so tall being in the tree tops. Best ride for whole family
BEST RIDE EVER!!!! MAN, BACK WHEN THE PARK ACTUALLY HAD TREES!!
Woah 🌳
I think a ride way better than this sits in its place now

I liked this ride to! Back in the day man , back in the day lol.
Stephen Grant well what can you say it’s the roller coaster capital of the world

They need a ride like Atlantis at SeaWorld Orlando. A big water coaster
I miss it too. Was a nice break from the day, calm, cool from the tall trees, and very relaxing ride. The collapse of the cave was its sign that it was time to go. It was nice to have a water ride that got you wet but not totally soaked
Thanks for posting this rare treat. Wish they'd been able to salvage this ride and have it rebuilt at a different park.
I miss this ride so much. It was always my favorite water ride when I was young.

I like how they reused a good portion of the remainings of White Water Landing with Maverick. Like the queue line.
Thanks so much for this, brings back so many great childhood memories
Really miss this one. A nice cool off on a hot summer day
wow, this brings back memories. i actually forgot about this ride
Very nostalgic. Thank you for posting.

Oh my gosh! I'd forgotten about this! It was awesome
The last time I rode this ride (it was 2005 and I was 11), I remember there were guys singing Love Boat while on the rotating platform.
lol!
I remember this ride. Loved it so much as a kid. But as sad as it is that it is gone, at least the replacement is now, in my opinion, the best coaster in the park. (Until Steel Vengeance opens, possibly :P.)
I remember this ride used to have tunnels before this was filmed.
It had a cave, the cave collapsed during one of the off seasons a year or two before its demise.
I remember when I was little I used to think the rotating platform to get into the boats was the coolest thing in the world. I’m 22 almost 23 now so I wanna say I was 8 when the ride was closed. I was so sad
Closed 2005
My sister and I thought that part was so cool! We'd also try to guess which side the canoe would be pushed to before the final drop
Watching this high is pretty awesome.
The drop at the end gave me nightmares as a kid! Felt like we were going to fly out!
I loved this ride a lot use to go to cedar point 3-5 times a year miss it
THIS IS MY FAVORITE RIDE!!!!
Whoa I never saw a log ride that had a boat shape before that's really awesome, it's such a bummer it doesn't exist anymore tho. . .
Remember Mill Race?
There could be an amusement park of rides that used to be at Cedar Point and it would be a pretty incredible amusement park!
This ride scared me so much as a kid I remember going on it with my brother as a kid feeling like we were going to go over the side with the water splashing over. We only went on it once though 😅
Dude sounds like the Jurassic Park guy
I miss this ride. Shoot the rapids was boring and no replacement for this gem and now the park doesnt even have that!
I was a little too scared for this ride at first but was in 💕 with Mill Race at the front of the park.
That was a fun ride! I remember this!
What year was this video from
Seems like it's always cloudy in Ohio.
Golden Girl as someone who lives in Ohio that’s true and you can’t forget the annoying humidity

Lol I see what you did there ;)
Retrofit the old Pirate Ride into Peter Venkman’s Tunnel of Love?
to be fair its replacement was a pretty worthwhile and influential one
Randy West Rode White Water Landing EST. 1982-2005 at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio USA 🇺🇲 & R.I.P. White Water Landing EST. 1982-2005 at Cedar Point.

miss this on
Huh, the station kind of looks like the queue for Maverick...
@Jade YTP wow thank you I was 100% unaware
@Jade YTP You missed the joke though
It is the queue for Maverick. Cedar Point repurposed the station for Maverick's queue and gift shop. The station and tunnel for Maverick are new buildings.

I appreciate the confirmation replies but I am 100% aware that it's the Maverick queue 😂
Best family ride, that wasn't extreme! You are cruising up at the tree lines enjoying the view. Should of kept it, instead of maveric.
I miss White Water Landing
🎵 Ride it, if you have no fear. 🎵 1986
Maverick is excellent, but it’s such a shame how many trees the park continues to lose. I wish they made a stronger effort to replace lost trees with new ones.
It’s a shame. Amusement parks need a good log flume ride.

Another water log flume ride removed due to old age and injuries
All CP cares about anymore is coasters, getting rid of family friendly, rides one year at a time
This one and disaster transport
At 4:22........busted!
This got replaced with Valravn
Nope, this was at the back of the park. There used to be a similar ride at the front, but I think that was replaced by Raptor.
That was mill race up near the front of the park and was long gone before valravn
Maverick
