The up-to-down Spike transition is a savory experience. The run up, over & down the Top Hat is faster & more intense than Dragster. Especially the twist going down. The increased speed coupled with higher seating really flings you around! A more intense "bottoming out" too. Fun Times!
It really is an epic coaster. I've rode it three times so far. Going back tomorrow for another ride or two at the very least. This highly exceeded my expectations!
At what point do all us haters tell Zamperla we were wrong? I will admit that I was definitely one of them in the beginning. Didn't think they could pull it off. My trip is booked for the 3rd week of August. If TT2 has gone all summer without any real issues and we get to tear it up for the 3 days we are in town. My brother and I vowed to both hand write a letter of apology to the team at Zamperla.
I could honestly say I had no doubts until all the public concern started building up. Whether or not they’re new to this size ride, the technology is tried and true. All the operational issues that plagued the wild mouse seem to be an aspect no matter what size the ride is. One could even argue that the wild mouse is more complex due to the number of cars running at once.
With this re-do of the original Top Thrill Dragster, one can argue that Zamperla has become a legit coaster manufacturer that can be more than just wild mice or flat rides.
with half the trains, more than triple the cycle time, multiple periods of downtime, the "pay for lockers to ride" safety policy, and metal detectors that malfunction when the train launches... yeah, it's gonna be a long line forever. but hey, it'll clear up the lines at other coasters.
@@protowave cedar point rides are always long right when the ride opens, and this is no different. The hourly capacity isn’t even that much worse than ttd, and assuming it doesn’t break down for full weeks, it will be an improvement.
This was the pov I’ve been wanting to see lol, the seats look so comfortable! At 2:35 I burst out laughing lmao, great reaction, can’t wait to ride this!
@DonWilsonSr. The new one all the way! The extra ride time and more reliability alone makes it superior! We'll see how much it breaks down when it opens next Saturday to the public.
A little note: TT2 seems to dispatch in 90 seconds here, at that rate it has a real capacity of 800 people per hour. I hope as the crew gets used to running the ride this increases. If trains can dispatch on the holding track to the transfer while a train is on the course the capacity should be able to increase.
Was there today and they are able to load 2 cars at a time while the 3rd is transferring to runway.. It also takes them half the time to load and secure each train vs the old cars..
That would’ve been cool if they did but my guess is they don’t need it because the initial launch isn’t intense enough on the acceleration to dislocate your shoulder anymore lol
My friend went on it before it shut down and I was just at cedar point when they told me it was gonna be shut down for a while I went on all the other rides but I was looking forward to going on this one 😭😭
Looks like a fun ride. It was a very good idea to include a rollback as part of the design, since the accidental ones were so popular. I always enjoy your videos, James C.
Most likely video glasses, I just got a back row POV I'm uploading to our vlog channel. Mines more about reaction though and not so much looking forward
I was there last year so of course it wasn't open yet, so I am really looking forward to the spike in the back seat next year when I come back to USA for Universal's new park opening and will also do my favourite parks like I always do starting from Florida with a hire car and driving north then east then south and dumping car in LA to fly home (but I might actually do it differently this time and try the Dallas to Sydney flight and just miss California altogether). However, I will say, from a coaster enthusiast's point of view, I do understand why they couldn't add an air time hump after the top hat as they just didn't have enough room, but I wish they adjusted the launch to have a camelback instead, as some new coasters are doing. I think having a wild airtime hump both forwards and backwards during the launch would have truly made it a complete ride, but, it's still way better than it ever was now, despite the launch being a lot less powerful.
It’s a far better ride in my opinion but not as an intense launch. Some people crave intensity and I heard a few others mentioned they preferred it before. Everyone’s different, no one’s right or wrong
Not going to break due to new technology. No more hydraulic pumps to fix! Just regular TPM’s and maintenance checks. I can relate because I’m in that field’ 👀
@@definingimagewell they had a major issue with it a few years ago, they didn’t want to dismantle it. What did you expect them to do with it other than add a spire and turn it into the only Other thing they could turn it into?
@@The_Nerdo It is. It's a better enjoyable experience. Never really cared much, for the original. Always thought Storm Runner was the best hydraulic launch.
That’s because coaster enthusiasts gotta complain about something. “Oh the first launch is so weak….I’m gonna miss the 120 hydraulic launch….blah blah blah”. The first launch can’t exactly hit top speed because it isn’t going over the top hat. Not sure why that’s such a hard concept to grasp.
@@OfficialEthanStillCodes See I get that - considering it’s only 70 some miles per hour compared to the original. But, it really can’t be like the original. The ride has a new layout and comparing 1 launch out of 3 to a ride that only ever had 1 seems so weird to me.
The original launch system that the old dragster used (that had a piece of it fly off the train and nearly kill a woman) accelerated the trains much faster than the new system they put in, so they had to make it a swing launch to account for the lost speed. There’s other types of launches that are as quick that they could’ve put in but they tend to have mechanical issues and lots of downtime just like the old Dragster did so i imagine they didn’t want a repeat of that
Thanks for giving us the awesome povs throughout the years!
judging by the wind noise, this ride is nuts

I'm still surprised at how this thing flies over the top hat. I am assuming you get some ejector when it hits the top.
Can confirm, you find yourself being particularly thankful for the restraint on this one
