Thanks to Amy for the pillion perspective too, although I'm not sure my wife would let me take her down any green lanes

The Africa twin is a great bike, but it’s big compared to this. It’s a shame some other manufacturers didn’t get into this 450 rally scene like Honda. Even some of the middle weight adventure bike are still to big for most guys.
@thatbikersimon I'm 6ft 2 love the Africa twin but way to top heavy for my riding in Australia high country I test rode the cfmoto 450mt absolutely perfect for me and great to ride to work daily. Great review, by the way.

I wonder if someone were to buy this as a light weight commuter if changing out the chain wheels to give it a bit taller gear wouldn't help it out for being on the highways without revving to the moon but still keep the torque on hand? I am interested in this solely as a year round commuter/ fun bike. I would want the taller front fender so that snow and ice did not become an issue and maybe a different exhaust to allow the bike to breath a bit more. I have seen some of the mods people have done to the SS and NK models that have really livened these engines up a bit without sacrificing fuel efficiency. Definitely would have to change out the treads for more aggressive knobs for the winter months but all in all for the money you would spend to doll this up you would still come in well below the cost of a Tenere 700 but have a great sounding and handling machine.
Question - i see you riding two up - does it feel like you could add about 30kg luggage plu protective gear/bars as well and still get decent performance? Tried googling payload with little success. Chat GTP tells me 450kg which I find hard to believe on a bike that size.
