IMPORTANT: for the battery issue when you park the bike put the ignition in the lock stage, which is second to last. If put in the alarm stage which is the last stage the battery will drain.
I'm looking forward to the release of the new upcoming Suzuki GSX-R1000, and I'm looking forward to your impressions of it once you get the chance to test one. I suppose that may be about a year away though.
First thankx soomuch to MCN for almost true fact revealed, But still verdict as Best in its Class, Except Exceptional Uber Charge fitted Engine those..👍👍🤘
ormand3000 just look up the specs again first thing they said is Yamaha is sticking with the cross plane crank but it's all new engine new cams and so on.
anybody here had the 2004/2009 r1 and the 2009/2014 r1 and this one ? i had a 2004 and 2009 , what i realy like to hear about is , does it have a powerband like the 2009 big bang has wich needs significantly more shifting on a track then the conventional 4 inline ( 2004 r1 ) ??
The new R1 has a distinct powerband compared to the old one, which was all low and bottom end power. The new one doesn't get going until around 10,000rpm. Neevesy MCN
+NUCK CHORRIS yeah man , people press like for a question lol . i had the 2004 r1 for 7 years and it was awesome , i bought a 2009 r1 bigbang a year ago and i traded it in 4 months later for my current bike the panigale . the r1 2009 had a much shorter powerband then my 2004 r1 , i disliked it . now i have the pani , and i rode many trackdays last summer and i just cant get used to so much more shifting i have to do with it . ( i drove 4 cylinders inline for 15 years and the pani is my first 2 cylinder ) so your saying that the new r1 pulls from as low as your bmw s1000rr would and also all the way up to the red line ? so you need less shifting on the new r1 then you need to do on the 2009 r1 ?
+neevesybikes awesome, gonna order them loved the old one as well, but could only do 2000km with the rear, so if the new is good for 3000km I'll be happy you know how much miles you did on the old Racetec K3 ?
IMPORTANT: for the battery issue when you park the bike put the ignition in the lock stage, which is second to last. If put in the alarm stage which is the last stage the battery will drain.
I found out the hard way, it was actually very obvious in the end.
I love mine but i must admit it really comes alive at the track !
Not bad on the street bike but amazing on the track .
You have somehow managed to make the r1 look archaic at the angle you're shooting it at from the beginning
the sticker on the front is actually an advantage? Just replace it when it's getting too ugly. Cheaper than repainting the fairing me thinks
Agreed!
+V-twin Kevin Except it'll get damaged easier as it's easier to chip than the paint, and doesn't have a protective layer of lacquer.
You're a sucker for punishment, riding over 700 miles in a day on a superbike. I'd be permanently disabled.
Good, thorough round-up. Thanks.
best superbike.. ilove it..
thanks neevsey...i do have one more question for you...Which is the fastest accelerating,or most thrilling superbike you have riden.
There's too many, mate. The R1 is pretty special, but then there's my BMW race bike, WSB bikes, the RC213V-S and MotoGP bikes. The list goes on...
What a beauty...😍 #YZF-R1 fan
Excellent review!

+Motorcycle Extremist we'll probably get to ride it mid-2016. I can't wait! Neevesy MCN
neevesybikes
Sounds good, and thanks for always doing such a great job. Stay safe!
so 2016 Zx10R vs R1 anymaster ?! THANKS
First thankx soomuch to MCN for almost true fact revealed, But still verdict as Best in its Class, Except Exceptional Uber Charge fitted Engine those..👍👍🤘
Wonderful Bike... Mega !
How does this thing do in stop and go, 30 degree celcius situation? Will it over heat?
what issue was this mcn that he was talking about? I'd like to order the back issue as long term bike test tell you a lot about a bike
here he says that is uncomfortable and in the video about 5 liter bikes vs each other he says it's comfortable and great for the road same guy
Mohamed Osama It's all relative. It was the most comfortable of test shootout, but it's still an uncomfortable bike in general.
I want one :D :D :D
It's disappointing that Yamaha still cannot perfect their brakes. Kawasaki do it very well.
no production bike is without faults. but what were the ones you are thinking of dor the r1?
+blue03r6 they need to fit those Brembo M50 calipers on to it
I replaced my stock pads for some ferodo pads. night and day difference! the stock pads are the problem!
blue03r6 I agree, I heard better pads make a huge difference
I fitted a set of SBS sintered and that made the difference. Cheapest mod to the brakes and get a noticeable difference.
Saw him at Cadwell testing it,all round top bloke who,s got time for a chat with you
yo neevsey which is better s1000rr or R1.
BMW more interesting on the road, Yam better on track. Neevesy.
Aby Mathew I'm going with the R1
Is yamaha still using the crossplane crank in the R1s? Or did they abandon that idea?
Yamaha has completely abandoned the flat plane crank
+ormand3000 the new R1 still uses a cross plane crank
dave ninga no they don't
well they do look up the spec's like I just did and they still use the cross plane crank in the 2015 R1
ormand3000
just look up the specs again first thing they said is Yamaha is sticking with the cross plane crank but it's all new engine new cams and so on.
i found this a good review
Which tire did you like better: the K3 or the Supercorsa SP?
+John J would you choose the R1 over the S1k?
+John J The K3 is slightly ahead, John.
+John J R1 for track, S1000RR for road. Neevesy MCN
HOW ABOUT TO THE NEW GSXR NON R????????
the battery issue solution: leave the ignition at lock position and not "p", you won't have any trouble.
Not true.....I've always used locked and if the bike is left unattended without a (battery tender) the battery will without question die.
ive never had an issues with a motorcycle battery but i guess its because i daily ride mines
@@jigsaw3917 that's with ever bike in the world. We're talking about the issue specific to 15' and up R1 that makes it drain excessively fast.
Get better quality brake pads. I heard they bite better. Nice riding, i want an r1 so bad. And get steel braded brake lines if they're not already
yamaha will replace the melted display. downside to a racing screen

whats better for tall people s1000rr or r1m
Tallmannfive the BMW
Is that a newspaper? That sound the paper makes, oh the old days.
comes with a free gearbox!!
How can you do 3500 miles on a Metzeler Racetec ?? I can't believe that
Unbelievable, eh? But true. It's the new RR Racetec - much more durable than the old one. Neevesy, MCN
+neevesybikes awesome, gonna order them
loved the old one as well, but could only do 2000km with the rear, so if the new is good for 3000km I'll be happy
you know how much miles you did on the old Racetec K3 ?
I got 2500-miles out of the old Racetec once. Neevesy
Test rode it and it's horrible. Btw your last review contradicts this review? You say it leaves you cold? That's not what you said last review.
Absolutely no character, it almost doesnt even have a face. Feel bad for its predecessors . Miss the real r1s.
