    IMO idle time on one of these new emissions engines is the most important item to keep track of and will greatly affect engine life.
    This engine had 380,689 miles with 16,376 hours that is an average road speed of 23.2 mph which translates to very high idle time. My 2019 International Lonestar has 174,676 miles & 3.618 hours which is a average speed if 48.2 mph, I am a little under 10% idle time.
    When I shop for a used truck I drive sales people crazy requesting ECM reports to verify Idle hours & total hours.
    Great Video, all you big strappers keep idling your trucks as usual so DieselBullet can keep making super videos.

    It's usually the intake rockers that go out as they are much longer and therefore the pressure caused by the leverage is greater on the camshaft. Make sure that you get all the metal debris from the top of the head, usually collects around the head bolts that are right under the camshaft.

    Looks like they must be running 0w-40 engine oil, I worked for a company that had 40 trucks all cm2250 and 2350 ISX and I changed camshaft in all of them, all due to 0w-40 oil, also the cam in the high pressure fuel pumps suffered the same damage, once I was able to get them to switch to 5w-40 oil the problems stopped.

    Shaft sensor replaced on my 02 civic . Because I’m a single woman I get taken advantage of a lot when I go to the shop so I was just wondering if anybody can give me just a raft estimate on how much it should cost for me to get that replaced please. Because parts are less than $20 at auto zone

      Around 1-2 hr labor. If shops rate is $40 and hour they charge your 2 hr then $80 if shops rate is $80 hr then 2 hr they going to charge you $160. When you go inside the office or in shop look for a sign that shows the labor rates. I don’t think they should charge more then 2 hours.

    • @kadeelacayo4806
      @kadeelacayo4806 4 года назад

      Transport yea I knew it. They told me $600. This is after the mechanic leaned against the wall and nonchalantly told me my head gaskets we’re blown and the only option I had was replacing my engine . Then did several diagnostics to a total of $260 before finally telling me it’s my camshaft .
      I saw online it’s anywhere from 150-200 including parts and labor so you just reiterated that for me !

    I'm doing the same job right now and running into a head scratcher...
    There was audible "clacking" coming from the cyl 1 area of the overhead. I ran it with the valve cover off and stethoscoped each rocker and Jake in the front, and the exhaust rocker on Cyl 1 was clacking LOUD.
    I checked the cam lobe, the rocker roller, and seen if I could get any forceful play from the rocker - everything seems good... But, the clacking is definitely coming from that rocker. Is it possible there's some type of wear on the lobe/rocker roller or rocker shaft that is so miniscule that it simply can't be detected via visual and pressure/force inspection?
    I'm really stuck on trying to figure this damned thing out, and don't want the client having to buy a new cam, rocker, and shaft if it's not needed. Lol

    • @mooneyes109
      @mooneyes109 2 года назад

      Check the Jake brake rocker itself. Check the lash first but it could be the detent spring or internal spring and plunger failure. The rebuild kit for the Jake rockers is about $550 vs. $560 for one rocker. Had the same problem with a clacking noise but would come and go but was in the overhead Jake rocker.

    I did one of these engines before it was full of shavings just replacing the cam wont fix the problem you have to completely dismantle the engine and have it hot tanked or it will throw a rod through the block down the road those shavings are all the way throughout the oil valleys

      all you need is a very strong neodymium magnet attached with epoxy glue to the wall of the oil pan and it will collect all the steel sludge.
      After about 5,000 miles of driving with the magnet, you would need to unscrew the oil pan to remove the "hedgehog" of steel filings that have accumulated around the magnet. If there was a lot of this sludge, you would still need to consider replacing the oil pump with a new one or at least remanufacturing on good parts the old one. It would be worthwhile to measure the oil pressure on the old pump and on the new/remanufactured one beforehand. If the oil pressure generated by the old pump would be above average then it would be advisable to leave it alone for another 5,000 miles and after this distance measure the oil pressure again (the oil must be warmed up to engine operating temperature!) if the values are still above average then leave the oil pump old. However, if they are lower than before then it is essential to replace it with a new one or recondition it (only on factory OEM parts, as a lot of spare parts are junk!).
