I work for a fleet and I have an upcoming job. I gotta replace the front cover gasket. I need to pull the timing gears. I've never don't the job but I have all the info I need and I am comfortable doing it. Im just not familiar with setting the crank shaft pin and cam wedges to lock the timing in. A video would help but any advice would be much appreciated

    I have a comment/question.
My 2016 isx 15 in apart now. The shop found the scissor gear and bushing apparently wore causing grooving of the front cover about 1/8". I'm quite sure this may have been a cause for rattling noise. My question is however is there any TSB covering this part as the motor has never been opened and has just under 700k at 596986 miles. Of course this gear and related components will now be replaced but I'm finding it difficult to get more info on this.

This video was very helpful I have rebuilt four of these motors in our fleet and I did it just like you have shown but I still get a lot of what sounds like gear train clatter the motors have been running fine for about a year just thought you may have a idea as to why it's so much noise.

Have you timed the air compressor and high pressure fuel gear?
Like it aint hurt anything if you dont. But they will make gear noise

Why are there manuals that say the calibration gauge is 10,000? And does not speak of 4000? Thanks

I have always used 0.010 gauges as per spec never heard of using a 0.040 gauge I think you could get into gear train noise with that little of clearance

      0.010" is for ISX15 CM570, CM870, CM871, twin cam engines
      0.004" is for single cam ISX15 CM225o, CM2350, CM2350.

Nice vid man I'm doing 1 right now at work and everybody at the shop has different ways of doing. But your way seems a lot simpler. I'm working with a isx w/o scissor gear will the adjustment process be the same?

Do u have to readjust the lash if u have compresor out? My parts guy was being lazy and didnt order the gasket so I went ahead and did the cam gear lash with all the other gears besides the fuel pump until the gasket comes in, it just came to mind that it might shift teeth when i put it back in

If the ISC does not have a scissor gear and there is movement in between the fuel pump gear and camshaft gear, is that normal or need to be tight?

@@manuelsaucedo8161 It was 109 ftlb but the correct spec now is 75 ftlb + 120 deg. as per QSOL.
