The way they portray the Hulk in this film... so perfect. There's something very appealing about letting go of everything and becoming a big green rage-monster.
Also: Hulk's strength is directly proportional to how angry he is. In theory his strength has no limit, it depends on his rage, and he has a lot of suppressed anger from his childhood. This is why Abomination beats his ass initially, baseline Hulk is half as strong as he is, but the angrier Hulk gets, the stronger he is and thus is able to eventually defeat him, because Abomination doesn't have the same ability.
The Hulk is a result of the military trying to re-create Dr. Erskine's super soldier serum that they used to make Captain America, substituting gamma radiation for the "Vita-Rays" used in the original experiment, but it didn't work the way they had expected and instead created the Hulk.
Finally, the reason why Mark Ruffalo took over the Hulk in the later MCU films is because Edward Norton wanted to explore the darker side of the Hulk's persona and not make the character an 'amusement park' style, which initially the studio agreed to, but then backpedaled, so he split.

You're right!! That was the original Hulk, Lou Ferrigno, playing the security guard ... BUT you missed the original Dr. Banner, Bill Bixby, in his cameo: he was on one of the TV shows Edward Norton was learning Portuguese from at the beginning. Since Bixby passed away many years earlier they cleverly used an old TV show he did in the 60's.

To me this is how I wish they kept Savage Hulk up to the point that Bruce and Hulk have a “much needed talk.” Also a fun fact, if you look close during the fight with Abomination on the roof when Hulk starts to take Abomination’s arm off him, you can see his eyes glow bright green which is an indicator that Hulk is getting stronger with rage like in the comics.

This is how the Hulk is supposed to be. He's not a big cuddly teddy bear the MCU quickly turned him into. He's a monster. Sure, deep down he's still a good person, but he's not the clown the Ruffalo Hulk is.
I also HATE how the MCU completely dumped Betty. I was stunned and appalled when they had Black Widow be his love interest. Madness.

Ed Norton has a long history of being difficult while making a movie and that happened on this movie too.
He and Marvel kept butting heads during and after production so they parted ways and Marvel looked for someone else to be Hulk.
In the end I think Norton's ego was too big to fit into the MCU and replacing him may have been the right choice.

The Hulk has several powers and abilities, including:
    Super-Strength:
Hulk's strength and anger has been repeatedly stated to have no actual threshold to its capability, as Hulk's strength rises with his anger. However, this is not to be confused with infinite strength.
Ability to lift a car or even an island; lifted 150 billion tons of mountain dropped on top of him in secret wars-- while calm; once lifted 6 sextillion tons.
Has been encased in pure diamond and completely shattered it simply by flexing; destroys things and structures built to withstand power "of the gods".
Hulk's strength can be planetary in scale. he held a planet together and shifted its plates to avert worldwide catastrophe.
Destroyed an asteroid twice the size of earth with one blow; punched through a time storm; can destroy planets just with his footsteps.
To give a sense of scale as to the amount of effort required for these lifting feats, it is described that the weight of forty tons, "might as well weigh as many ounces!" (from Incredible Hulk vol.2 #22).
Long-Range Leaping: Can make huge leaps from one place to another; some can be seen from space; jumps thousands of miles in a single bound.
Super-Speed: Can run at Mach 5; it has been described as having "lightning-fast reflexes" (in Marvel Feature #3 and Incredible Hulk #276). Despite Hulk's speed not being as prominent as his strength in most situations, he still has no limits physically, via his anger.
    Invulnerability:
Can withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures, and has even endured the sun's heat.
Has dropped from a planet's orbit and been completely unhurt.
Was hit with a 1-ton wrecking ball to the back of the head, but no damage was visible at all regarding his head.
Even the Human Torch's full nova blast does nothing to the Hulk.
    Stamina:
    Hulk has near-infinite stamina.
Can leap endless miles for hours and not break a sweat.
Doesn't require sustenance of any kind.
    Healing Factor:
Has one of the best Healing factors in the Marvel universe, since the ability improves itself proportionate to Hulk's anger.
Has had skin torn off reducing him to bones and muscles.
Has regrown his neck after the Maestro snapped it during the future imperfect storyline.
    Can regenerate limbs and organs.

Super glue was used by field medics in Vietnam to close open wounds until injured troops could be transported to a medical facility for surgery. Emergency stitches.
There is another film simply called Hulk (2003) that was released before any notion of the "MCU" as we know it. Decent film, although it is largely ignored by the masses. Eric Bana played Banner. Ang Lee directed the 2003 film but turned down the sequel-turned-reboot to make Brokeback Mountain. Before making The Incredible Hulk, Norton rewrote the script after he was signed to star in the film. The Incredible Hulk hit another snag as far as being MCU - Norton wanted too much money to play Banner in future projects and was replaced by Ruffalo. In 2009 Disney bought Marvel Studios and pretty much made out like the Lee film and the reboot never happened, even though TIH had the teaser with Stark at the end and came out after Iron Man. Another thing to note is that every time Disney uses Hulk in a film they have to pay their competitor, Universal, as Disney has yet to outright buy the character from them. Disney does not own Hulk, Venom or Spider-Man (yet).
It really sucks that studio politics and greed ruined this character. Hulk was one of Stan Lee's most beloved creations. RIP.

Lou Ferigno was the Hulk on the TV show in the late 1970's. It was a cameo shout out. The show was I think 1977 to 80 and compared to these movies that hulk would have been 20 times weaker, but for its time it was a decent show.

Edward Norton didn't want to follow the Marvel story for Hulk. Some say he was being too much of a Diva so they swapped in Mark R. .. Hulk is not under control of marvel studio.. { but this movie was nice } and that's why due to legal battles there has not been a second solo Hulk Movie. hulk can only be in other characters movies.

There is a 1st Hulk movie called 'Hulk' I believe made in like 2007ish which I think is the prequel to this one but isn't starring Ed Norton or Mark Ruffalo... i think

I don't think the earlier one is part of the MCU, but it might be why they skipped the origin this time... You could maybe make it fit, but I don't think it was supposed to... There's probably some contradiction between the two, but it's been a while since I watched them.

@@KitsyX Yea I def don't think it's part of the "Phases" ...i was just answering their question of was there a Hulk movie made before this one that was made since the 70s showing his origin story of how he became Hulk... thats all. I don't even really remember liking it but was just passing on the info

@@nrgmanifest Ah ok, it just sounded like you were saying it was directly related to this one lol sorry... It's a bit of a weird film >_>;; More monster film than Superhero maybe? It has a more "artsy" feel, if I remember correctly... Most people tend not to like it much... Might be interesting to watch, but possibly not very enjoyable... God, those weird monster dogs...

Fun Fact: Mark Ruffalo was originally the director Louis Leterrier’s first choice for the role of Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk.

That movie is good, but a really good version is the 2003 movie. There we have a Hulk more faithful to the comics, fighting the army and a Bruce Banner facing the psychological problems of being a raging monster. And it still has the fantastic editing. It's not an easy movie like the MCU ones, and maybe that's why it's underrated.
