For the full impact of that ending, you have to remember that NOTHING like this kind of connectivity between films had ever been seen before. Even among comic book films from the same company, at most you'd get an occasional gag like the line "This is why Superman works alone" in Batman and Robin, and they were otherwise played like each hero was the only one of their kind. So the sudden appearance of Tony Stark (whose own film had only come out two months earlier) completely blew people's minds, and from now on we were trained to look for any other potential connections between Marvel films, as Thor and Captain America movies had already been announced as well.

The thing I always thought was interesting, at least to me. Is that even though they say he changes when he gets angry, it's less about getting angry, and more about his heartrate and adrenalin level. It's just that anger is the emotion that will cause an adrenalin rush the fastest. And that is shown here very well. Hence why he wears that heart monitor and tries to keep his heartrate down. Also of course the joke about not being able to get "excited" later in the movie is of course because of the heartrate as well. So it isn't enough to just be angry.

Well, Hulk in The Avengers wasn’t a comic relief. The way he explained suicide haunted me when I was a kid. Hulk was also amazing in Age of Ultron when he was mind controlled by Scarlet Witch. I kinda like Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok because he was becoming a bit more smarter like Maestro.
When Infinity War and Endgame arrived, Hulk was the only thing I was disappointed at the movies. It would’ve been fine if Professor Hulk loses control when he’s angry but his personality is the same as Banner when he’s calm.
If Universal gave the distribution rights back to Marvel, we would’ve seen a lot of Ruffalo’s acting as Bruce Banner and Hulk instead of being sidelined in the team up movies (aside from Thor: Ragnarok where he basically a secondary protagonist).

It’s what I love about Norton’s Hulk. You see too much of Ruffalo in Ruffalo’s Hulk. He’s body build isn’t a good contrast, either. Not saying Ruffalo is “fat,” but his body type doesn’t contact well when he Hulks out. Norton’s body is lean and a bit scrawny looking, which contracts well with his huge, defined-muscular Hulk. They may have recast Norton in the next films, but Norton was already a recast. The first Hulk film had Eric Bana in it. And the only reason they recast him was because he didn't want to continue playing the character. That's why they didn't bother retelling the origin story, because there had already been one. He and Betty had been engaged before but couldn't be together because he feared for her safety. The guy he gave the pizza to was Lou Ferrigno who played the Hulk in the TV series. The drop of his blood on Mr. Blue's head was hinting that it was the origin of "The Leader", a mentally enhanced villain with green skin and a huge brain.

The guy (Samuel Sterns) who turned Blonsky into the Abomination and who got Banner's blood merged with the wound on his head, is called "The Leader" in the comics. He turns into a green guy with a normal body, but big head/brain. In the MCU I believe he was taken down by Black Widow, but you won't get that information from any of the movies, as it's from a supplementary comic. 19:42 - Yes the serum provides regenerative healing in addition to enhanced strength and speed...like with a special Marvel hero you'll see very soon.
31:25 - The reason it's a backwards origin story is because it's an indirect sequel to the 2003 Hulk movie (which was heavily criticized as director Ang Lee portrayed it as a drama). Just like how Aliens (1986) was an indirect sequel to Alien (1979) in terms of creative vision and directing style.

The reason Norton was recast is apparently because they wanted to take the Hulk in a different direction and they didn't think he fit that direction. Initially, Norton was cast and liked the idea of taking hulk in a darker direction like the Dark Knight trilogy was going, and they were apparently up to it initially but later changed their minds.
"I loved the Hulk comics. I believed they were very mythic. And what Chris Nolan had done with Batman was going down a path that I aligned with: long, dark and serious. If there was ever a thing that I thought had that in it, it was the Hulk. It’s literally the Promethean myth. I laid out a two-film thing: The origin and then the idea of Hulk as the conscious dreamer, the guy who can handle the trip. And they were like, ‘That’s what we want!’ As it turned out, that wasn’t what they wanted. But I had a great time doing it. I got on great with Kevin Feige."
    Edward Norton.

  • @mikepeters807

Everyone points out Lou Ferrigno as the security guard but no one ever points out the real original hero: Bill Bixby.
Bixby died long before this movie was made but he is seen in one of his 1960s sit-com roles on the TV as Edward Norton's character is learning Portuguese. Bixby was the original "Dr. Banner" (Dr. David Banner instead of Bruce ... long story ... homophobia is involved).
Bixby not only played a major(starring) role on the Hulk live action series, he was also instrumental in bringing it to the small screen in the first place and in keeping it on the air for 5 seasons, AND for creating the subsequent TV movies which would feature Thor and Daredevil.
Bill Bixby. Worthy of more than just a cameo in the MCU.

The large security guard that Banner gives "the extra medium pizza" to is Lou Ferrigno, the first guy to play "The Hulk" alter ego in the TV show from the mid '70s where he's literally painted green. The guy in the lab in the next scene that gets the other pizza from Banner is Martin Starr, he shows up again in Spider-man: Homecoming as Parker's teacher. I love all the connections in the MCU, how they tie it all so well together.

The other big cameo for martial arts fans was the Jujitsu instructor - Rickson Gracie. He is the best elite fighter you have never seen, in the early days of UFC he had already proven no one in the world could beat him. The early Gracie school UFC champions were his students and younger brothers.
I would pay $1,000,000 for the 15 minutes training Edward Norton got in the movie...if I had the opportunity and the money.
Pretty much the greatest martial arts cameo in any movie with a second going to the Gene LeBell cameo in the Rush Hour movie.

None of those guys died actually, it’s one of the key traits of the hulk, he may look like a monster but he doesn’t act like one, and goes to great lengths to ensure that he doesn’t kill anyone when he’s hulked out. In fact it was only recently in the current run of the hulk that he actually killed someone for the first time.
