This video is NOT SPONSORED! the thoughts and opinions are my own. But i did have a nice experience using canonkeys and I like this board - so yeah! Positives all around.
#bakeneko65 #mechanicalkeyboard #keyboard
Great review. Love seeing more character animations in here too. Keep it up!
Thanks Matthew! How've you been enjoying your keyboard?
@@coleydotmp4 Mode 65 is a dream and my daily driver currently. And I've also been tweaking the sound of my very loud and clack Q2. I added a silicone sheet this morning, and because of your post I added PE foam at the base (vs between the PCB and plate that most others suggest), and I think it did the trick! Now my Q2 sounds much deeper, and a little less loud. Very stoked.
Still waiting for my bobas to ship, and hoping to find some lubed gateron black box inks in stock somewhere.
if a single one of you criticizes how i say "bakeneko" im gonna commit slip and slide
i say bakaneko..
your vids are unlike any other keyboard content creator they're filled with much more fun and personality! instead of the usual dead voice with lofi music in the background
underrated channel! fun videos
I seriously love the small bell ringing every sub reminder
finally someone who also noticed and loved the purple zippers on the carrying case!!
What can I say, I love a nice, though-out detail!
Great video as always, and glad there's finally a discord :)
We need more of that diy craze! I loved the fact you improvised with the stabilizers. Love to see more when the need arises.
Really like your voiceovers I think they are so cute 😊 Thanks for the videos keep it up :) Hope you could post a video about the Akko lavenders soon
your my fav youtuber
I'm a new subscriber. Your voice is very nice to listen to, and your insight + video style stand out. I'm wishing you continuous success on this channel!
The video quality is amazing
Your production value is insane! Awesome content, looking forward to binging the channel
I love how the blocker fits into the notch in the pcb
Love these reviews! Especially with these new animations
As a fellow motion designer that uses the Bakeneko, only the 60 version, what I did was map the left windows key to be my function button that takes me to the first layer, map the Fn+WASD to be my arrow keys, map my PgUp and PgDown to be Fn+Q and Fn+E.
Nowadays I use a Vertex Arc60 with split right and left shift so I mapped some macros to the extra keys but I got used to using 60 boards with after effects pretty quickly with that setup. It's even better in some ways cause I don't have to take my right hand off the mouse or move my left hand over to the right to get to the arrow keys.
Entertaining video. You're very good at narrating!
Great content. I really like how you suggest different build ideas for different preferences. I wish more content creators did this.
Great video! I also loved the bakeneko65 it’s definitely my favorite board that I own.
Love your channel!!!!
Great review
Love the video. Planning to get this keeb pretty soon
I think you've sold me on the Bakeneko65. Just going to enjoy my KBD67 Lite a whole more before I get the Bakeneko and spoil me myself. Great review!
Beautiful looking board and lovely sound! I love love the animations you add to the videos, it makes your work so unique 🤩
Sounds so good! Keep it up :)
Great Video!
if only shipping was less than 54$ I'd have snagged it in a blink! awesome vid though. your editing is too good
Dont know if you have seen the block67 gb but its built after the bakeneko65. Only 160 or 165 for e-white. Thinking of getting one to see if it is more like the neko60 sounding. They have tweaked the og neko65 design so might be better sounding. Doesn't have the weight and the blocker has been CnCed out completely. Ive wondered if c3 stabs would work stock on this board since they are smaller. Both my sets of cherry have been pretty solid but ordered some tx stabs to try though. Here really great things and they are snap in.
i don't have any c3 stabs to check, but i bet you could do the same thing i did and file them down.
This is great
Thanks for the soundtests! I'm tuning things on mine at the moment, almost the same setup, using U4T's and the 50da o-ring with the silicon weight. No other dampening yet, and I like how everything sounds EXCEPT for the spacebar. I'm using SA keycaps, so there's a bit more space than GMK or Cherry, and I did try some ASA caps before this that sounded fine. I think I'm gonna try tape mod, polyfill and StupidFish SA Spacebar foam.... here's hoping it hit's that right note!
Ooff yeah that's tough - SA spacebars are either really deep or really hollow :(
@@coleydotmp4 i really like SA spacebar's hollowness
Yea doing the same alot more tuning required compared to the neko60. I love the feel of the epsilon switch but dont think its the best sounds for this board. However after tape mod and some poly fill def got the hollow out but still needs some tweaking. Needs a lil more pop or crackle.
LOL, take that GMMK Pro... hah. I just put a little poron foam in and it was super quite so I added loud switches and it sound amazing.
The animations are too good
Nice vid!!
How would you compare this to a kbd67 lite?
Did the same screw-in stab mod and it definitely takes away some flex due to the increased friction between the o-ring and case. Worth it in my opinion though!
Hey coley, did you lube the leaves for the bobas? i hear a lot of ticking or leaf ping, idk what it is. maybe its the mic????
have you thought about trying the tiger 80 or the tiger 80 lite when it comes out?
How did the Durock v2 screw in stabs differ from the clip in stabs with regards to the O-ring?
Also, the mod007 looks amazing, plz review
ROAD TO 1K LETS GOOOO
Can you do a comparison between zip n fit, pe foam, and polyfoam? for this case.
Do you think it is possible to file the stabilizers down with a regular nail filer or do you need a glass nail filer?
Nice, interested in your opinion on the Ducky one 3 mini, recently bought 60% speed silver for my gamer son and can see a custom build together in the future, thanks
Great video! Was really thinking about buying this, I don’t think I will now because of your honesty! I don’t love higher pitched boards and thought it would be a little more flexy. How does the flex compare to the 67 lite? Epic review as always!
the Bakeneko is most content creator's opinion of being the best entry level keyboard. One because it's easy to build and second because of what is included for the price. The KBD67 lite is nice and has a deep sound profile, but is much less flexible in stock config. No matter the route you choose, you will end up with something you're happy with. I went with the kbd67 lite because I prefered the look. Other offers from Ikki, novel keys, keychron and Idabao are also worth a look. I know you were not asking for my personal opinion, but figured i'd chime in anyways.
Great video!
How would you compare the typing feel of this to the kbd67 lite or the keychron q2? (If you’ve used them)
I really wanna try a gummy O-ring mount for something different, but can't decide between the Bakeneko, the Portal, or the Sequence
All great choices. Go bakeneko if you need to save money but both parallel boards you mentioned are fantastic upgrades.
solid space bar! maybe i should buy some durock stabs and file it down!
Damn I got a round one ikki68 but damn did the two come stock like that. I like the board but that look alot better since the 1 wasnt very flexy but was still way better than everyone's fav kbd67 lite which i just couldn't never love. Mine was just stiff as a board and no matter the switch was hard and heavy to type on.
does the r1 ikki have flex cuts? I think depending on the configuration you do with the inserts, you can get a really flexy board if you want.
It's great to see someone use and give their thoughts on the noico mod. Question-- would you consider this a destructive mod? Like, do you happen to know if the adhesive for the noico comes off easily, or if you installed it would you be kinda stuck with it because it adheres very tightly?? Thinking about trying it for a board I have but nervous I might not be able to "undo" it and maybe should try the silicone pour mod instead?
It can be pretty messy if you decide to take it back out. I and others have opted to just place it inside the board with the film still on but I imagine the result isn’t the same as if the dampener were actually stuck down.
I should of done that gotten some screw in stabs and just file it down. Does it fit nice and snug just like with the normal stabs or it doesn’t affect it at all?
Yep it works perfectly fine! You can also find some TX stabs, as those work really well in there too.
Note: better to use painters tape rather than masking tape as masking tape is hard to remove from the pcb(can remove diodes and other stuff that u want to not be wrecked), and masking tape degrades too from what I have heard.
Painter’s tapes are also low key aesthetic
This is masking tape actually! the clip at 5:53 is proof that it's not that sticky. Im an artist and i use this on super soft paper, so it should be safe on the pcb!
@@coleydotmp4 oh okay good to know!
You'll just need the sharp end of a toothpick tighten the latch of the cherry clip in stabilizer. That would save you so much time and effort compare to filing down the durock v2
Akko Acr 67 review?
You gonna pull the trigger on the QK65 or too soon haha!? 👀
Not this round, at least. I considered Black Chroma but it sold out so quick anyways. I have some other boards on the horizon for the channel that are super fun though!
@@coleydotmp4 I messed up and thought I had created my account so pretty sure that’s why I missed out on the Black Chroma! 🥺💔 I did pick up a silver one as a neutral base for my first aluminum custom keyboard though. Reviews raved too much so I figured it was the one to go for. Can’t wait what you have in store! 🤗
@@darealkillarick Its definitely ridiculous for its price point. you really cant go wrong! I'm most excited for the new standard it sets.
@@coleydotmp4 For real! Bringing the quality to the masses! 🙌🏼
just wondering if I should get the tofu 65 or bakeneko 65 probably going to put some gmk hennessey keycaps on either one.
Funny you say that, I have hennessey on my bakeneko currently! It's a good combo. But.. It's really up to you. The Tofu will require a ton of mods, while the bakeneko build might only take you an hour and a half. it's really up to you - i'd check out all of the awesome stuff you can do to a tofu (taking out standoffs, penny mod, you can even oring mount it). so I'd just consider what YOU want in a board- they are both good options
@@coleydotmp4 ye the only thing that puts me off the bakeneko 65 is the paint finish and the stabs but the tofu is quite a stiff board
@@F13Pty You can make the tofu a not stiff board by getting rid of a few of the standoffs in the middle. I am doing a build of it hopefully this upcoming week if all goes according to schedule - maybe keep an eye out for that?
@@coleydotmp4 when you do could you plz compare the two
Idk why but my stabs on my bakeneko 60 are kinda mushy
I already bought the kbd67 lite for R3 but kinda wish I waited. I really like the bakeneko so I didnt get it for the same reason. But now that the 65% is out I dont want to have my keyboards look the same >_
And Corsa switches
@2:55 notes taken :)
So has the Kbd67 lite been dethroned?
I'd say it depends on if you like deep, muted or mid-clacky sounds! also, this is a really afforable metal-case board. So that also plays a factor. also this style of o-ring is hard to find at this price.
the mat is an dampener
May I have your e-mail? I can't find it in the profile page.😀
