Banger video once again, I've actually tried something interesting. I used a Unikorn R2.2 pcb assembly with vintage blacks on alu and popped that assembly into the bakeneko. The sound was I'd say up to 90% the same with a slightly weaker spacebar and mods. But I think for someone who hasn't tried a Unikorn or aren't able to experience one, this is as close as you'd get. I'm assuming that the H60 pcb and an alu plate will help A LOT for the bakeneko rather than the stock plates. Also solder PCB will sound fuller than hotswap from my experience. Therefore, I reckon that the main issue for the bakeneko isn't the case difference, it's the PCB assembly that's bringing it down, Unikorn with MX Blacks on FR4 slaps so hard but just doesn't seem to slap as hard in the bakeneko too so.. Oh and one last thing, graveshift grey oring (medium) 70A iirc, makes the board more lively in terms of sound when compared to the stock oring.
Had a neko for a long time now. I must say, this is one of the best sounding boards I’ve ever owned. Really a banger board up to this day!!

I really like the fact Andy is trying to help people get the Unikorn experience without breaking the bank. Most Unikorn owners would not compare it to something as cheap as Bakeneko to validate their purchase. Big kudos to you my man.

the bakeneko is a classic and i always go back to my 65. Haven't tried that layer of tape yet, might need to pull this apart and give it a fresh update. RN i have voyagers in there but I see a few comments here talking about hyperglide blacks. Just did a spring swap of my set so i think its time to make some updates.

how do i make my ciel60 spacebar sound louder/poppier? my ciel spacebar isn't the greatest i know , but is there anything i can do to make it louder?

Had a Bakeneko when I first got into the hobby and loved it alot. Definitely agree with switching to a 7u layout. Not a fan of the stock FR4 plate but once you have any other kind of plate it sounds miles better
the stock fr4 plate is great with jwk, ok with other switches.. but custom plate definitely changes the whole character of the board
would be interesting if you can compare the Tofu FA since it's a o-ring mount Tofu and been hearing great things about it.
I am unable to decide on my next board between the Bowl Mounted Tofu 2.0, the O-Ring FA, the Bakeneko or QK60v2.

ive found that using shallower bumpons reduces the hollowness by a decent amount
that's def a move. as long as it doesn't end up thuddy. i used to use no bumpons to achieve a similar effect lol
I wish they do a cnc version of the 60 like they did for the 65. That would actually slap so hard

there are some clone out there. Just an oring mount 60% case. I have one
Ciel 60 pretty good and it has brass weight sadly its no longer in stock
@@nikocayetano1805 yeah but they are constantly being sold after market for a pretty okay price. But I dont really like that weight and I prefer the look of the cannon logo on the back but thats personal preference.
Man I can just never go without arrow keys on my boards. I'm looking forward to the Neo FRL project for my first gummy OR board!
that's why I use standard layouts! I can toggle dedicated arrow keys with rctrl, rwin, right alt, and shift
what i do is i configure the capslock button to act as the FN keys when you are holding it then WASD become the arrow keys. actually easier to use than right side arrow keys

cannonkeys now offers hotswap with a 7u bottom row and I believe split right shift PCB (I believe it’s a variant of the Bastion60), great for those who don’t want to solder if they’re willing to pay extra! That said, I millmaxed an H60 and love it!

Thought i would get on here to say that if you throw in the Tofu 2.0 PCB in this case, it will work.
I have found that TX stabs will work for this config.
I also bought a FR4 plate from avxworks. Highly recommend this for the bakeneoko.
You can make....the bakentofu 60 hehe.

I have a 3d printed bakeneko with cherry black ultraglides and alu plate, i would say it sounds a bit deeper than the cast alu neko but it still sounds better than the foamy keebs (personal opinion) you get at the 70$ price point. Happy with it.

i had it outsourced from a place that prints huge statues and art, the printer i had was a mess and the bed was not big enough. @@AndyVNguyen

I feel like your Unikorn internals still work better with the Unikorn case, same with the Bakeneko internals in the Bakeneko case.
The Gateron Inks sound quieter than the MX Brown build, and the Unikorn seems to have a louder case, likely due to the weight boosting the volume. For me, it sounds better having quieter internals in the louder case and louder internals in the quieter case. But all the configs here still sound great.
I think the shelf liner is making the Bakeneko quieter than the effect of the brass weight on the Korn

Nothing quite hits the way that Gummy o-ring mounts for me. I've basically left the keeb space, but I always come back to enter Unikorn raffles in hopes of one day getting it. For now, the bakeneko will do, because hot damn this thing is a beast for its price.
gummy o ring has that pop. I haven't been able to "win" a unikorn ever so I feel that. I still enter. the unikorn I have is a holdout from the FCFS days lol

the stock fr4 and pcb are both sus. the mods sound giga weird and somehow using a solder pcb made the board sound better. i gave my neko away cause i ended getting a CNC 60 with a weight(tinyneko) and its great.
bakeneko is hands down one of the best in stock ill go after fr if i am to recommend anyone really
it's such an easy board to make sound good!

@@AndyVNguyen oh btw how’s your experience with the bakeneko65 cnc? And how does it compare to a brutal60 v1? I can’t choose between the two. If I get a bakeneko I’d also get Mx blacks on aluminum but if I get a brutal I’ll get mauve switches on Pom. Both will have abs doubleshot keycaps.
the bakeneko65 was weaker than bakeneko60 for me, brutal60 v1 is a NO BUY in 2023.. that thing is meh.
