This is the libra mini. He is my baby. dont talk to me or my son ever again.
In the world of mechanical keyboards, the libra mini really stands out because of its joystick slash thumbstick slash control stick. it slaps.

apologies to early watchers who saw this in 360p lmao, looks like it's fixed now! hope you enjoy the video :) please like and sub to help me reach my 10k goal! Thank you all
Love when creators give their personal thoughts about their builds, rather than simply reading product specs. Very refreshing keeb content!
this is endgame
I saw this keyboard and just assumed it was some long finished group buy. I still can't believe it's just affordable.
the best part about the video other than the board is Cooper being the cutest goodboi in the world
Great Keyboard! I would pick it up if it wasnt 40%
COOPER IS THE CUTEST THING
do you play melee?
Back in the day i did!
Your videos are better than your sub count would lead one to think! Thanks for reviewing this board in as much detail as you did.
and it has the double b. noice
Why does the keyboard sound like the lego building noise?
Absolutely WONDERFUL socks and sandals attire, 9/10, needs to be coley themed
Oh and also great video! 😂
socks and sandals gang for LIFE
Great keyboard, but definitely a bit of a bummer to see the limitations on the stick, especially when optical keyboards with variable input levels have been popping up for a few years now :/ Either way, fantastic video going over this unique device!
Thank you Henri! from what ive gathered talking to other libra mini owners, you could put a full joystick on this thing if you bought one separate and soldered it all in. im not the most experienced in that level of modding, but it is possible to upgrade it.
Welp
Do you still think it’s worth it to get it on aliexpress?
yeah! you pay a little more than taobao but its still a great deal.
@@coleydotmp4 true and with shipping it’s practically the same
as a person with limited mobility in my hands at times, I think the joystick will be great for me!
You should look into a column staggered split keyboard like the Corne or Ferris, they require a lot less hand movement to access everything, should be good with limited mobility.
zaza
Thank you for the Elboard shill! Also as for keycaps, you basically made an over complicated NicePBT Sugarplum lol
Shilling? just telling the truth haha. you guys are one of the only vendors with the birds.
I was an inch away from buying this a couple months ago, Im really glad you enjoyed yours!
Amazing content! Keep going, that's the right direction.
Thank you!
what did you do to cooper that the outcome was a libra mini?
sheesh
If they actually put an analog joystick in it it would be perfect as a mouse
I’d mess around and play some racing games to torture myself.
So excited to see a new, upcoming keyboard content creator! Subbed :D
I thought about getting this keyboard in the past, it looks like a lot of fun, but now that I'm used to 30% ortholinears I won't go back.
You're somebody I'd consider a true guyfriend that will aid you in destroying sweaty nerds in MMOBAS and pvp shooters such as RUST
Joystick is on the wrong side for gaming 😢
yeah,, its replacing the arrow keys on a keyboard. Maybe we will see boards with different layouts
Sir. where can i get json or modifying tool? i bought it yesterday.........but many review told they cannot search it....
Man I really need to get me one of these now lmao.
JOIN US
Hi coley, this is a really cool board! A few questions - you mentioned everything worked out of the box except for the other B key. What about the joystick, did that require any additional components or soldering to be detected? Also where did you order your kit from?
Nope! joystick registers in VIA as arrowkeys. Just make sure you download the json file and you should be good. Got my kit from Aliexpress since im in the US, but taobao has it for even cheaper if you live in Asia.
Ok so this video might be a year old but I just finished building mine and the right B key is not working for me either. I wonder what that is about...
also peeling the protectors of the acrylic is super satisfactory imo, definitely enjoyable
I think the ElBoard affiliate link may be broken, was interested in checking out the switches though
I was checking out this board a while back, because I thought it was pretty unique, but to be honest the number of screws holding this this together was pretty off-putting to me, looked kind of cheap to me.
Maybe in another case color other than transparent it would look a little less obvious. Cool little kit though.
Yeah, i could see why you feel that way. there are definitely a lot of screws. but the build does feel really solid if you tighten the right amount. it also look cheap because... it IS cheap! haha
it's gimmick of joystick to feel a bit fancy about your arrow keys
it's not a real analog joystick.
How bizarre that it has an analogue stick that isn't analogue. Still looks really cool!
Never have I wished my right hand had more to do when gaming. The joystick is simply on the wrong side, and it’s a bummer because the rest of the board is pretty nice
I think there's definitely room in the market for a board with a full 360 degree joystick on the left side of the board. Could be really fun.
I cant find your keyboard in any of your link..
😩... why is the thumbstick on the right side WAH (this is awesome still)
Saw this and for some time was hoping someone would do a review. Thank you so much.
One question though, can you program the joystick to have dual function? (Like being able to use as a mouse as well as arrow function?) Thanks!
Yes! I explain in the video - you can do that with layers in VIA.
@@coleydotmp4 sweet. Thanks for taking the time to reply ☺️
@@ahmadnurhadi2648 You're welcome!
Where do I track down the joystick component? I am going to order this board thanks to your vid. Thanks!!!
joystick comes with the kit!
@@coleydotmp4 OH BABY ! BUY BUY BUY BUY!!!
@@MetroGradeGoods RIGHT? one of my fav keyboards in my collection
I just found out the joystick is a standard Xbox/PlayStation aftermarket stick! You can replace it.
Kayboard joystick, it's m'y 3nd, 2 Razer tartarus, and one spirit of gamer !! Big shit! But i am old player PlayStation, i want this for my left hands with mousse on right!!
DO IT MAN!!
I think having it in the middle to control with a thumb could be an interesting idea
Surprised people didn't know about this
DOGGO!
Ngl should review the feker matchas
Joystick on the left would've been best
Keyboards and Corgs for the win!
I read you have to buy a 4-pin connector and solder it to get the joystick to work. 🤨
To get a new joystick that is full analogue? Because the stock one was already ready to go, you just had to pop on the grey joystick. Soldering not required for this build unless you wanted to upgrade the stick
Was looking to see if anyone mentioned that the timestamps are just different useful macOS apps. Very cool video and neat inclusion.
i've been eyeballing this board for a while on ali now and tbh at first i thought it was a scam and waited for someone i trust to review it, thankfully you did LMAO
how usable is the layout? did it take a lot of time to get used to the slanted angle + alice typing?
I would say it took more time getting used to the layers than the tented/alice just because i already learned to touch type! it definitely helped me get better at touch typing. you also need to get used to the joystick instead of arrowkeys, but after a week i was pretty comfortable. I'm really glad that the review helped! i think if you get one, you won't regret it.
@@coleydotmp4 layers really aren't a big problem for me, so I'm def gonna buy it!
again, thanks for reviewing it. you're honestly a really big inspo for me, I'd really like to begin making keyboard videos. much love from a Brazilian trans woman
@@katarinafoda3699 YESSSSSS love love love to see more women in the hobby, especially in the content creation space. let me know if you decide to make videos about keyboards, i'd love to see them!
@@coleydotmp4 i will let you know! can't promise they will be good tho :P
It might not be the analog stick itself, it's the limitation of some emulators.
Dophin has the capacity for full 360 joystick controllers. This is the only analogue stick i own that is limited, unfortunately. It was designed to only be able to mimic arrowkeys.
I got mine from taobao about 50 usd
after a really long time of procrastination im putting my coley switches on this board like i originally intended
how do you game with these without the numbers?
I don't typically play games with number row, but you can always remap in either VIA or the game itself to accommodate and memorize where your specific inputs are. so you'd have typical WASD, plus any keys around it, or you could use a modifier key. it would really depend on the game.
Who's that person in the other room behind you that seems to be doing exactly what you're doing?
Also libra mini possibly best Alice type 40 don't at me
I don't think you can order from taobao outside of China.
You can - you just need to use a proxy service. its complicated but it can be done.
not only is it 40% and alice and acrylic. but it has a nifty gimmick.
Well there goes my hunger for a praxis im (top mounted alice).
If I do end up buying one, I think I'll buy a hall effect joystick to solder in. Even though I don't think it will be usable as a true joystick unless the joystick is a seperate controller... It would be fun
Can you play Dota on this? Dota needs the number row
you might need to change keybinds within DOTA or definitely use layers. I would do some research to see if anyone's played Dota on a 40%.
the keycaps actually reminds me of nicepbt's sugarplum
pov: your right joystick stops working so you decide to use a $100 keyboard as your joystick
I currently type on a Mercutio 40 and love it, and I have been looking for another unique, but practical 40%. Awesome review, I think I know what I'm getting next!
Analog sticks just need to disappear into the void and never be brought up again. Worst input for gaming ever...
maybe im misunderstanding you but do you suggest we only use mice for 3d games?
@@coleydotmp4 Yes
@@beanwithbacon well there are people who play on consoles and people with disabilities who need joysticks so... lol
Was wondering if Nice!Nano or other equivalent wireless controller will work with this.
do you use snus/zyns?
here before 100 likes B)
Im sad that this is a 40 percent I wish there was a larger more available version of this.
bit of a late comment but what size tx stabs should you buy for this?
criminaly underated
That sounds clean
I was looking for hall effect sensor joysticks and I came across this.
I cant believe I wasnt the only one inspired to purchase one due to the Taeha keyboard meet video! Right on love the vid!
No way! YES it was great to see everyones builds in the video. Such a creative idea from EuraPSD. I am debating if and what i should design for my libra mini...
Thanks for this video on my birthday! Got me smiling!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I now need it or else I will die.
I have MT3 2048 on my Libra Mini and a friend said it looks like teeth. Can't unsee that now.
🤣 your friend is a hater ahahahaha. no but really im sure your libra mini is awesome and NOT teeth-esque
cool video!
I just bought a ton of tx stabs just to replace all my durock and owlab stabs. Seems like everyone has been recommending them
They are just so easy. Just a tiny bit of lube and you're good. I've never needed to plug the butt with the TX stabs.
W video
Do you know what MCU to flash the board to? Is it ATmega32U4?
im not sure, i didnt flash the board, I just used VIA and imported the json
@@coleydotmp4 did you have any issues with your control and shift button? They don’t work for me :(
@@detectivedevito have you imported the json to via? I had some weird mapping i had to fix in VIA first. could be that.
@@coleydotmp4 I did but still had the issue. I’ll try clearing it and remapping again though
@@detectivedevito ok. i think there's a reset button on it to. I'd also confirm that your pins arent bent and that they are correctly touching the hotswap sockets - sometimes intentionally slightly bending the pins can help them register, too.
Can i use akko keycap on this keyboard?
they will work but you will have to get creative with which keys you have to put in certain spaces. make sure you look on the listing of the libra and that you have the correct size for things like enter, the smaller split spacebar, etc etc
As for the stabilizer, what did you use, screw in or clip in? Thank you
Would love to see you cover more weird budget boards on this channel. Great video!!
i just built the same board and i love it
The board is a combo between Akko Alice Plus and the GameCube controller, and the keycaps are a mix between two sets. Perfect
it truly is a hodge podge keeb!
I wonder is swapping out the potentiometers will make subtler stick inputs to be possible.
Great video!
I've heard from other libra mini owners that it is possible to swap out the joystick for a true analogue stick. but i think it would require soldering and some software puzzle solving
Now win a game of Fortnite with it
number one victory royale yeah fortnite we bout to get down (get down) ten kills on the board right now, just wiped out tomato town-
@@coleydotmp4 typing that should be the typing test for a video where you win a game of Fortnite with it
Well that's a neat keyboard
the outro so wholesome 🥺
I love your lil animations!!
I went down the exact same rabbit hole with this keyboard (reddit keycap pic, comments, went to aliexpress) and I swear I would've bought it if it weren't split. Maybe it's just me but a split layout would be a blemish on my collection
Ha a blemish? I like it in my collection because it makes it less homogenized. I think its the coolest board in my collection!
@@coleydotmp4 different strokes. My entire collection are standard ansi keyboards. Can’t go ortholinear or split or I’ll break the mold.
@@SkimoStories Ha fair enough! Have you tried any weird boards like this before?
@@coleydotmp4 no, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for any standard layout with a real analog stick. Shame that it’s a bit janky, but an awesome piece for a collection for sure.
@@SkimoStories If the libra mini picks up steam, i think it could happen someday in the future. it would also be cool to see an analogue stick somewhere on the left side for the ultimate keyboard and mouse control scheme
Such a cute and wacky board! I love it
and for that price too!
a like and a comment for the yt algorithm 👍
You're a real one
ah yes the libra mini
tx vs staebies vs owl. hasn't been done yet.
i know. need to get on it, trying to find a good board to fairly compare them on.
love the layout
I love the animations in your videos! So original!
Thank you so much!
Great vid
cool board, an instant sub!
Thanks for the sub! Welcome to the coley crew :)
such a cool board!
Very nice, wish more keyboards did this
me too. the value here is insane and such a cool addition to my keyboard collection
hyped garbage
whether its garbage or not is up to the individual. hyped? not really, its not THAT talked about... but ok buddy
It's an analog stick with no granularity. You sure seemed pretty hyped.
yeah thats fair, i do critique that in the video. at the time of making this, this was a really unique board for under $100 and my main statement was its more of a statement board with a quirky arrow cluster than it is a board worth playing video games with. @@Marc_Wolfe
yeah, the part where you mentioned that is where I said "WTF" and stopped watching. I'm currently working on digging up code for keyboard, joystick, and a single MIDI pot (for system volume) to throw on a single microcontroller. I'm tired of not having analog for movement; and I like making things. That'll be in a video when I'm done, but you'd have to just build it yourself.
yeah unfortunately custom mx style macro pads can be a bit limited with the controls they tend to include. it can even be hard to find one with a slider. good luck on your project though! maybe the custom handheld community would be a good place to look for a fully functional analogue stick. @@Marc_Wolfe
