I attended JCK 2024 in Las Vegas and set out on a quest to find the coolest and craziest diamond shapes in the world.

it is 20 ct and I bet it was hellish to cut! I wonder how many pieces of lab rough they broke before they got that panther head? I can understand how it sold. someone will waste money on it, as it is a work of art.
I'm not really into the novelty jewels but the owl was actually kind of cool.

So swarovski has been doing this for years with their crystal. I wonder how long they've been doing this with diamonds.
I don’t know, but I think the fact that lab-grown diamonds have become so popular and less expensive to make, there is a lot of room for creativity
Side note. Swarovski used to guarantee their gems. Then they stopped and there is a noticeable dip in quality. Anything Swarovski made now and my local jeweller refuses to even touch it
In one of my books over a decade ago I wrote that the leading man bought the leading lady a charm bracelet made from specially cut diamonds just like these ones, so seeing this video put the BIGGEST smile on my face to know that it IS possible
If the ring is to fragile to get it out of the case to hold it to look at it, it's too fragile to ethically charge someone a half mil for it, I'm sorry. I know a lot if with work into it, but that's a case of "then you shouldn't have wasted your time doing it" because that's silly.

It's a miracle that you survived that gold refining a year ago. I have no idea how you didn’t die while doing those extremely dangerous things. I have no idea how the acids that are meant to "easily kill you" didn't kill you. I have no idea you RUclipsrs are so lucky, all of them do these incredibly dangerous things and not one of them have died yet.

@@j-smith00, I think those were lab grown diamonds. I'm not sure any diamond company would do that with a non lab grown diamond. Lab grown diamonds are much less expensive than a traditional diamond. (And I don't think there's a company that has a monopoly on the lab grown unlike DeBeers and the traditional diamonds).

When none of it is natural or hand made anymore, it doesn't have the same magic to it. It just feels like another machine cut rock.
It's chemically identical to the stuff that's mined. Personally I don't think extracting something out of the ground with massive environmental devastation using slave labour is "special". If anything it's tainted.

Why are lab grown diamonds so expensive?
Most of the time they're not as expensive as in this video. Most makers get them in bulk which drives down the price. And the stones are much smaller using standard cuts. These ones in this video are mostly outlyers
