Unless it had solid axles, it probably would have struggled a bit. I have no doubt it can easily do this but it’s just the limitations of its suspension
@@jasonguinn132 I know. Some folks down the road have one. I don't know why Ford badges some vehicles the way they do. They have an electric Mustang that looks nothing like a Mustang and a Bronco Sport that looks nothing like a Bronco except for the big BRONCO across the front grille.
i'm sure you know this, but for the guy with the broken front shaft... using your winch rope as a tow strap is extremely hard on the winch brake. good way to destroy your winch.
I would never use a winch as a strap (super hard on the drum) but I don't intervene on this kind of stuff anymore. No one likes the guy marching around telling everyone how to wheel. 👍
I really enjoy this (mostly) stock content. It’s relatable. When I got my first 4x4, I put some skid plates on, and tried to follow some lifted Jeeps, while only having 31s on my truck.
@@cristianortega5850 it was a bit stressful, because I'd bottom out on a lot of things. No damage though, other than a side step that I should have just taken off before the trip. I did have to turn back on one trail, because my truck just could not do it, but other than that, I hung with them for the weekend, and had a good time.
Honeymoon period is over for the Taco. All my new trucks only got 3 days. Before some dents or scratches from wheeling them. Thanks again, looked like an awesome trip.

What a trip! Are you going to do it again in a few years with a built Toyota? The gallon milk jugs were interesting. They are made of the same HDPE plastic that gas cans are made of, it's just not red. I wouldn't want to store a bunch of fuel in my garage in gallon milk jugs, however. I guess you use what you got.
I have lived all across latin america most my adult life, including Mexico. I am more impressed that you took your toyota wheeling in an area with one of highest murder rates in the world. I would only be slightly less impressed if you took it to Afghanistan or Syria. The cartels have bigger gun budgets.

That sidekick is kick ass. I learned my lesson years ago. Never wheel with parts store $50 CVs. Rebuilt OEM or upgraded CVs. I haven't broke one in about a decade. I cant wait to see what crazy fabrication you'll be doing to the taco!
That looks like a great adventure. It takes some balls to wheel a brand new vehicle 1200 miles from home in a foreign country. You got the first scratch out of the way. No you don’t have to worry about scratching it anymore
Very cool. I drove 3,000 miles from the SF Bay Area to Baja and back in November with my girlfriend. Spent three weeks down there sleeping in the roof top tent of my home made camper trailer. Hit some pretty remote areas. Total awesomeness.
Looked like a fun trip. I bet your chopping at the bit to get that modified. Does it get frustrating driving that yota when you own a couple of very capable 4x4 rigs?

ifs is the number one problem but as most toyos have long travel setups its all upgradable. ofc lockers front and rear as option is a saving grace but in ur case clearance tends to b an issue aswell as travel

I love my 95 tacoma, but don't usually hit jeep rock trails. Want to build a crawler eventually. My truck just has a modest mid lift all the way around, rock kickers, etc. Most of my offroading is Ocotillo Wells, Gordon's Wells, Buttercup, superstition, and Glamis sometimes.
Strong work with the español 👌🏽 Laguna salada is right by my home town. That’s where my off-roading days started. Hope you enjoyed the desert, rocks and the food. Thanks for sharing
Fatalities happen down there because of drunk Mexicans and people passing at the wrong places. Not hai Ted highways. Mexicans are very superstitious. Mexicans don’t use left turn signals. The left turn signal is only used to let those behind you know they can pass. All the roads down there are littered with crosses and memorials for people that died at those spots. Being in a large group like you are is the safest thing you can do in a four wheeler. The cartels love to car jack 4x4s. One of the most dangerous vehicles to own due to the demand for cartel use. There’s an area called Valle de Guadalupe between Tecate and Ensenada that is the Mexican Napa valley. Any road improvements and highway straightening you see down are being paid for by China to get the rigs carrying import goods to the states quicker. Mexico and Mexicans are great people.. Nice to see a stock rig being tried.

I bet that 4Runner wasn’t actually breaking CV’s, but most likely over drooping the suspension and popping them out. Toyotas have very tight tolerances for what they will allow and should be testing for binding with any new suspension upgrade. Great video 👍🏻

EPIC!!!!! Dude you went to Baja! I though that looked like Horsepower. Curious if Mike's Sky Ranch also was considered for this.. the backside has a few Rubiconesque trails. If not please look it up! Then..... check out the N. Road.. For maximum challenge go during the wet Hurricane season. . I claim it IS the most difficult off road challenge that is still pullable in all of Baja.. C'mon do a Baja Sur mission.. you can glamp at my house in Scorpion Bay- I'll show you ruins, oasis, indigenous "recent" activity.... Paths last travelled by Jesuits hundreds of years ago! Best fishing in existence worldwide... and surf if you are down...... 60 miles of barron beach with dunes galore C'MON!!!!! even fly down- Edit: for Hurricane "SEASON". Not during a firkin hurricane- / though I've done that too! For a good show, The Baja 1k goes through my town in Nov... It becomes a scene out of Fear and Loathing for that two week period.
Wow! Epic off road trip in the new Taco Nate. Awesome footage too. Do you think the experiment with the lighter weight material on the rock sliders allowed the body damage? Just curious.
Actually the sliders worked really well! The body damage could have been prevented with the larger sliders that I plan on building. But as far as material thickness these held up to a lot of hard impacts 👍
Awesome video! I know your planning on going LT on the taco, have you thought about building your own kit? Lca’s, uca’s, spindle. Not entirely difficult for someone with your knowledge.
I was considering it but I really want this truck to be more relatable to the common 4x4 owner. EVERYTHING on my discovery is hand made so I want to use a bigger combination of light fab and bolt on with this Tacoma. I'm going to use the new RCLT HD kit from marlin and see how it performs 👍
I’m surprised you didnt change tires. I don’t consider a tire change a deviation from stock as long as stock tire sizes are maintained....just me. But a cool video and a lovely place to explore.
One of the first things we learned from desert wheeling is make sure you can see the vehicle behind you, if you lose sight of it radio ahead and wait for them to join back up . Safety first people can die out there. Love the video 🤙🏼

Thanks for showing and telling people about aspects of Mexico that they may not encounter or consider in their western lifestyle. The "gas station" was the perfect illustration.

EPIC!!!!! Dude you went to Baja! I though that looked like Horsepower. Curious if Mike's Sky Ranch also was considered for this.. the backside has a few Rubiconesque trails. If not please look it up! Then..... check out the N. Road.. For maximum challenge go during the wet Hurricane season. . I claim it IS the most difficult off road challenge that is still pullable in all of Baja.. C'mon do a Baja Sur mission.. you can glamp at my house in Scorpion Bay- I'll show you ruins, oasis, indigenous "recent" activity.... Paths last travelled by Jesuits hundreds of years ago! Best fishing in existence worldwide... and surf if you are down...... 60 miles of barron beach with dunes galore C'MON!!!!! even fly down-
Edit: for Hurricane "SEASON". Not during a firkin hurricane- / though I've done that too! For a good show, The Baja 1k goes through my town in Nov... It becomes a scene out of Fear and Loathing for that two week period.

Wow! Epic off road trip in the new Taco Nate. Awesome footage too. Do you think the experiment with the lighter weight material on the rock sliders allowed the body damage? Just curious.
Actually the sliders worked really well! The body damage could have been prevented with the larger sliders that I plan on building. But as far as material thickness these held up to a lot of hard impacts 👍

Awesome video! I know your planning on going LT on the taco, have you thought about building your own kit? Lca’s, uca’s, spindle. Not entirely difficult for someone with your knowledge.
I was considering it but I really want this truck to be more relatable to the common 4x4 owner. EVERYTHING on my discovery is hand made so I want to use a bigger combination of light fab and bolt on with this Tacoma. I'm going to use the new RCLT HD kit from marlin and see how it performs 👍

I’m surprised you didnt change tires. I don’t consider a tire change a deviation from stock as long as stock tire sizes are maintained....just me. But a cool video and a lovely place to explore.

One of the first things we learned from desert wheeling is make sure you can see the vehicle behind you, if you lose sight of it radio ahead and wait for them to join back up . Safety first people can die out there. Love the video 🤙🏼
