How to Remove Noise from Vocals and Recordings (Hiss, Hum, Background Noise)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 сен 2018
- This tutorial shows you how to clean up and remove noise from your audio. This will remove all the noise, hiss, hum and background noise from the audio or recording.
I demonstrate on 2 samples, firstly removing the noise from a guitar recording and then a vocal.
This technique is very fast and straightforward and with only a few clicks you can completely eliminate the noise from your recordings. This is especially helpful if you are using a cheaper/more affordable microphone with a lot of noise.
Thanks for watching and please do subscribe if you found it helpful, I have loads more videos like this and have big things planned :)

Michael
Can you Buy this Plugin or is it only available within this particular DAW?
You can Buy it but it's in FL Studio by default. If I was buying a tool to denoise I might look at other options. I haven't checked the competition :)

A great tip is that you could also select "Output noise only" and listen to the preview if you want to be more precise with the amount of noise that you are cleaning up so you can monitor exactly how much of the target audio you are affecting and adjust your settings accordingly.
Kid Diamond underrated comment
How u do this in studio 1
Dude i didn’t know this was possible
Output noise where
on garage band 2?
wow thats a really powerful function. Thanks a lot for the video

3 years later, this mans is saving lives
Thanks man! This is what I’ve been needing for the longest time. My recordings have been having a lot of noise but now I know how to fix it 👍🏼
You've always been a life savior. Can not admire your work enough. Always organised. Thanks a lot!
Seriously you’re a life saver. I know this video is older but I found myself doing some odd sample recording and without this I was out of luck. Thank you for sharing your knowledge as always!
I am amazed right now. I'm gonna record everything with my phone now.
Edit: This is a risky route to take, however, as taking too much frequency out can for sure lower the quality of the sound and make in unnatural-sounding. I use this effect most now simply for adding a cool flavor to a sound, i.e. as an effect itself, not a "sound fixer." I've gotten some really cool and old/lo-fi sounding results with it and the Blur effect. Just use it at your own risk and use it carefully.
Will Clifton you gonna record it with your phone then transfer it over to pc or laptop?
I've tried that and it amazingly works
Me too!!!!!!!!
Same ahah
Thanks for the insight!
I would love to see a tutorial on how you record professional guitars for a rock/metal song... acoustic and electric. Also if you made a video showing how you mix all the instruments I would appreciate it like you wouldn’t believe. Loving the videos and your soothing voice haha
No one's ever told me how to fix this in FL Studio, they just show me random things about hardware, acoustic treatments, software...
This video helped me a lot
You have literally been the best help out of anyone on the internet for recording. You are a great teacher. People would pay you big bucks to tech them this stuff. Everything is so helpful so thank you.
SO FAR you're the only youtuber that really helped me improve everything about music production THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Honestly thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Your tutorials are the best on RUclips and you are greatly appreciated!
Honestly, you make some of the greatest mixing and producing tutorials and tip videos on RUclips. Keep up the good work.
I've been searching tutorials for fl studio for a long time and by far your videos are the most thorough and informative ones I've come across thanks again!

OMG I AM IN SHOCK JUST DID THIS AND THE RESULTS ARE INCREDIBLE, IV BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VID FOR OVER A YEARS NOW TY
I tried to use other videos to find out how to FL studio but i always find useless videos or videos that take forever to get to the point. Then i always end up coming across this page and i find what I need to learn and exactly how i want it. No BS, no wasting my time with how their day was, i dont care, Just tell me what i need to know step by step and this dude delivers in every video. This dude always has the best videos and makes it very simple and easy to understand with useful pointers in between. Every other RUclips video on FL studio is basically useless as long as this guy is making videos.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. You have no idea how much I needed this!
Wow.. never fails to impress me! Thank you again for another great and helpful tutorial!

You honestly my favorite person to watch when it comes to learning. Your straight to the point and it's understandable. 👍🏾👍🏾

I've seen some tutorials about this before. But this is really straightforward.
(It's now that I understood what 'acquiring noise profile' is 😊)
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yeah I even made a tutorial last year about it but it was too long and not to the point so I updated it. Lots of things really are simple and I remember wishing I'd known about this years ago!
Thank you. You have covered so so many pit falls in this DAW for me, and I have only just started. I'm so grateful to you. cheers :-)

Thanks for a very detailed tutorial that I've watch, now I know how to work with noise in my audio. Kudos Michael!
Mike I need your help in making a vocal booth in my room...
What type of material do I need to cover up
Hi there, I know you asked for Mike's input specifically, but I'm an audio major in uni so maybe I can help you out!
You would definitely want to get some bass traps and put them in each corner of your space and use a combination of foam absorbers and diffusers - there are diagrams online that can help you with the placement of acoustic paneling. One mistake a lot of people make in their home studios is that they cover their space in foam absorbers which really deaden your space and eliminate a lot of the character in your musicians' performances ( if that's not a big factor to you then, by all means, go nuts with the stuff).
Because acoustic foam can be really pricy if you buy in bulk from somewhere like Guitar Center, what I would suggest is that if you're on a budget, buy a couple of moving blankets from Target, Walmart, Home Depot, etc. and put them up in your studio with either curtain rods or Command strips. Definitely more of a DIY approach to room treatment, but it helps a lot. I recently put one up behind my desk in my studio and it made a huge difference. Carpets and bookshelves are added bonuses as well!
Hope this helps!!
Is there any good suggestion for an Ableton user? I don't mind investing in third party-plugins. So far I'm trying with Waves Gate/Comp, but this has to be manually set and doesn't detect anything by itself... Also easily sounds gross if you just miss a bit of the spectrum and compress afterwards... Help?
Thanks for posting these tutorials! They're so helpful!
Thanks for all the videos. Your advice is having a huge impact on the quality of my own tracks.
Hey Michael! I've been having a lot of trouble trying to retain my vocal quality and tonality when I use the Edison's denoising feature and I was hoping you could help clear it up. It seems like I can only put on the tiniest amount of denoting before everything sounds underwater and I get crazy amounts of artifacts and bubbling sounds. But this tiny amount isn't enough for me to properly denoise and it simply ends up making my vocal track sound fuzzy and somewhat noisy still. Could it have something to do with my computer or my microphone or am I missing something?
a general mix tip is to crank the seetings to the point where it sounds unnatural, ther slowly decreasing it so you get just the perfect amount
I really like that about FL studio. I couldn't find a good tutorial on how to do this with ableton. Any tips?
You're so friendly, thanks! Cause you i can solved my problem. Hope this channel hv a million subscriber I'll support you 👍👏
I'm so thankful for you. I've used this so many times now. My ac always runs and I forget to turn the mic shield to block it. I never notice until days after my clients leave. You've saved me money, heartache and a bad name
