One things that I hate on piano roll, I can't figure out how to fix it. But when you go to put in a new note next to another note and all the of sudden, your cursor changes to stretch and you can't put a new note next to the other note.
Been an FL Studio user for 5 years now. I would have never got to where I'm at today, without your tutorials and advice. You are seriously the most informative channel out there. If I owned Image Line, I'd be paying you to make the official FL Studio Tutorials. Living legend, thank you for everything.
Thank you so much! Funnily enough, I did actually work with them to make some videos a few years ago but it took too much away from my own channel and professional work. We created some really cool videos together!
Michael, I just want to say, that without you and your one-of-a-kind channel, I would never be in the place I am today musically. I have been subscribed to you for as long as I can remember, and still am for obvious reasons! It has been awesome to see your channel grow and continue making great, high-quality, educational music production content to this day. Keep it up, man!
One thing that is rarely mentioned is the very well written manual. FL studio has always had a great help file that is always being updated. Includes diagrams and well written descriptions of all the features, and some even include example uses one would overlook or not think of. It is based online now cause its grown with every update, but it can be downloaded as an offline file if wanted. Its great for learning everything FL has to offer
As a technical writer (day job) who produces music for hobby (and maybe even as a sideline someday), I felt seen and recognized because of this comment. Thank you. 🥹
Hey Michael! Wanted to reach out and express thanks for the non-stop excellent FL content. Theres so many subjects that many can't explain simply, and you've managed to strip away every ounce of confusion in the process. Keep killing it and I look forward to reaching out one day for mastering services when I start releasing music 😎
I'm so happy to have helped. Do send me an email when your mix is nearing completion and I can give some feedback before mastering too. Let me know if there are any other topics you think I've missed or could shine some light on.
first time commenting on here: my ABSOLUTE favorite function is the plus symbol on the top left of the arraignment window. left click to open and create a plugin track, right click to record live audio.
hey man! Just wanted to thank you for your hard work on teaching dummies like me FL Studio! I started by watching your videos back in 2019, and now i just released my first album! Thank you so much for your help, definitely couldn't do it without you
Hey Michael! The text to Chords feature is really a game changer. I usually start the project with chords on my guitar. This will ease copying them on the piano roll. Thank you. Greetings from Rwanda.
One (or two things) that helped me keeping my projects clean and organized is the „purge unused audio Clips“ and „select unused channels“ Option. I used to get pretty messy in an intense session but those features definitly change it. Keep the great work up. Just can agree to all these wonderful congratz comments.
Michael, when you are in Slice "C" mode to split clips, if you press "Shift" and then click, it will split where you click without dragging the blade tool every time from top to bottom. It is useful when you are zoomed in on a clip, and you don't want to drag your mouse on the whole screen. Thank you for all the content and tips. Learned a lot from you!
2:54 I never knew that fade at the end could be brought in so quickly. It's those little details that add up. 😇 I also never knew FLEX had a tabs section. Very useful.
Throughout my career I have often come back to tips and tricks you have posted as they are some of the most easiest, digestible and knowledgeable tutorials for FL Studio there is on here! Thanks for all the hard work you do to help others! Even tho I have been signed to big labels, done quite a bit... you can never learn too much! I still spend no less than 2-4 hrs a week just learning, or watching others produce, or sound design tutorials. It all helps!
Hello Michael, I have been following your videos for years but this is the first time (shame on me) that I have posted a comment. Just to report that your videos are always great and clear. Like many others, I have learned a lot about FL Studio over the years thanks to your videos. They are always very educational. Thank you a thousand times for that! Greetings from Belgium.
If only every vid that was created in order to educate about audio production was as precise as that quiff and this vid. Good job, Michael. It's undeniable that you're one of the best in your game. I appreciate the lack of reliance on gimmicks and tacky thumbnails. I use the ultimate version of Reason and I own the comparable versions of Ableton and FL Studio. There's so much more technical potential in the ones that I'm too afraid to explore; it's like a megalophobia. FL Studio seems to be far too complicated for my aging brain... but I'm getting there. I'm getting close to the realisation that Ableton with FL Studio and Reason 12 as VSTs might be the best way to proceed.
thanks a bunch man I literally taught myself how to make beats and never used any guides but recently over the last year or so I’ve been watching FL studio videos and it’s been teaching me so much that I wish I had knew before.
Hello namesake😊 To be honest, I feel quite overwhelmed by all the topics and technical terms one encounters when making music. I also sometimes find it difficult to accept that I can process information at a slower pace. That is (in addition to my limited energy and time) an important reason why I regularly stop producing for a period. But I have to say that thanks to your "down-to-earth" approach, calm way of explaining (and tone 🙂) and the clear expression of your passion for music, you encourage me to take up this hobby again and again. And to embrace every small step in the ongoing learning process. Therefore, thank you very much for all the explanations you have already given on various themes. Finally, I hope and wish you that you can continue to make music with great passion for many years to come and help others (including through this channel) develop on their musical journey. Kind regards from the Netherlands!
I'd love to see some more workflow and recording improvements for those of us who use FL for live instrumentation (guitar, bass, piano, etc). I also really wish FL would fix the hi-hat CC problem where you always have to map it every single time you want to use an electronic drum kit. Still not recognizing the CC info after closing and opening a project the next day, in effect making the hi hats all trigger open. Giant pain in the butt, and I usually use another daw to track drums and then import the stems afterwards. Very clunky. Anyway, you're the best. Thanks so much for the wonderful information you provide to us - even long time (circa 2004) users of FL. Cheers!
Thank you Mr Michael for your brilliant work, u hve given me a way in music 🎶 production because of following your channel Shukraan Habibi am from qatar 🇶🇦
Really useful tips for FL , thanks a lot for your work man , espically the mixing tutorials. Without your channel , my mixing skills would be very low , keep up the good work 🔥
I have the amazing Bitwig, but I watch this beacuse you do things so well. I was in a bind with mastering the other Month. I took a lot from you tutorials on the subject. Thanks !
Your channel is a never ending toolkit for FL Studio - appreciate it mate, thanks. I'd really appreciate a tutorial to stop peak output fluctuations, especially when applying a kick or snare roll pattern. I've tried the cut self function but peaks still change. Also messed around with the envelope settings in the sampler, but can't get levels to stop at the required peak. It's driving me mad!!!
Thanks for everything Michael. Your tutorials are very easy to follow and extremely helpful. I find myself re-watching a lot of your uploads right before i start to work. You are undoubtedly the best teacher of FL studios 👍
Keeping Edison recording on the master channel is such a good idea, thank you for this! When you were talking about the "dump to score log" tool, I was thinking, "I wish they had something like that for recorded audio..."
channel rack groups! amazing! Thanks! I've used FL for about 8 years and I wish I'd known that! I've moaned to FL they really should make learning the software easier.
Detect tempo, in my experience does not produce the most reliable results. Also, if you have imperfect playing (most of live, not quantized recordings) the tempo shifts as playing occurs so maybe that's why. Great video as always.
for absolute beginners, as I am...control+z does not work like anywhere else, you can just undo one step, it is control+alt+z to go more steps back ...I literally screamed of joy when I learnt this
Damn that recording last x minutes feature is amazing. This is going to be so useful for me thank you for bringing it to my attention. I love your videos.
Great tips, and thumbs up on using more more modern rock and edm samples. Stock quaky samples often make FLS seem very limited in production quality.. Peace..
6:10 In regards of this, I've had mixed/inaccurate results with the beat detection function: in the end I have found/decided that it is much more reliable to stretch the loop to fit your project tempo/grid than using the beat detection.
Yeah, i have some troubles with it too. For drums you can definitly do it your way but its more complicated with samples, where u cant directly see the drum waveforms
Thanks again for the effort and passion you put into your content. I'm not familiar with the shortcut you used to add a volume fade to the end of the audio clip, or how you could change the volume from the center of the clip itself without delving into automation. Maybe it's a feature in a new update I haven't installed lol.
Hey Michael! Can you make a video where you mix a song from start to finish again? You made one before but it's been 2 years. And maybe you try a heavier song like a hiphop song with heavy bass and drums? I'm trying to mix one and it's going awful. I would highly appreciate if you could make a video like that. Keep up the good work ❤
Man I alwayz loved Ric Flair dude! As an x-dope head I think Flair did the best thing 4 his son, try not to enable them but u gotta be there 4 em too man! I've grown up in NC and I Used to know Flair was around by hearing the whoahhhh all the time haha

I was just telling my friend about the manual last night. It’s the best tool in FL lol
As a technical writer (day job) who produces music for hobby (and maybe even as a sideline someday), I felt seen and recognized because of this comment. Thank you. 🥹
Also? Some of them are just fun to read, ex. Autogun help file points out that you can't try all the sounds since it would take over a century.
The edison recording backup trick is so simple that it's brilliant. definitely my favorite takeaway here

You're the most helpful FL Studio RUclipsr ever, everything you say just makes so much sense, been watching you ever since I started my journey
I took ten years to learn this and I wished a video this educational existed back then❤THANK YOU FOR THIS!

Text to chords is such a great tip. This blew my mind that it's possible now. Thank you!
I've bought NewTone a few months ago and i do not regret it, it made me see visually why some of my sounds were off.
As someone who comes up with ideas as chords in my hardware synths, chord to text is a godsend!!!
Even with the background and music theory, I love that shortcut text to chords that’s genius
I am a Fl newbie and your videos have helped me so much. I cant thank you enough for taking the time to make these videos.
You’re more than welcome!
5:35 That sounds so sick
You should hear it in the studio sometime :)
looking back on these "new" features in FL and seeing those quirks, I remembered why I switched to Live. Grateful.
I can't thank you enough for these vids. They've completely rewired my approach.
Thank you so much, Michael. I always look forward to receiving new content from IN THE MIX.

You're insane, man ❤
damn that audio backup tip is so game changing for me! thanks!
There is also the new snap to key function in the piano roll. Makes chords and transposing much easier
Thanks man I appreciate this! I been following you for years now and learned alot from your channel

Hey congrats on passing a million subs! Also for all your great videos and tips you have offered your viewers. TY
Thank you so much for making this video, every single thing that was shown is helpful!
You're welcome. I tried to dig deeper and find some gems here!

I find it usually detects the half speed of the beat; I usually times the suggestion by 2. Time stretching is easiest though
Thanks Mike for this great opportunity for me learn the secrets of FL Studio
No lie, I used soundgym before seeing this ad. My favorite feature is the ear training for mixing. Shit 10xed my mixing skills
Always enjoy your content bro, keep it up!
Hi Michael
Long time viewer
Thanx for another great FL vid
Thanks for using FL Studio, I like it much more than anything else
Love your vids man.
I would be completely lost if it wasn't for your awesome tutorials! Thank you so much and keep up the good work 🤩
Damn I love the grouping of channel rack its such a great feature
That chord detect would be very useful, come on FL. Great vid
Excellent tips as usual thanks 👍🏾
Thanks!
Thanks again for the effort and passion you put into your content. I'm not familiar with the shortcut you used to add a volume fade to the end of the audio clip, or how you could change the volume from the center of the clip itself without delving into automation. Maybe it's a feature in a new update I haven't installed lol.
Yeah its just the newest version, thats all. I recomment to always update it
Would really appreciate if you did how to come up with chord progressions for an Entire Acapella
Always Good !
thank you so much! helped a lot ❤❤
Hey Michael! Can you make a video where you mix a song from start to finish again? You made one before but it's been 2 years. I hope you will continue these series for a long time ♥ much love
your content is extremely helpful, I appreciate everything you do!!
Dude, these videos are great.
Thanks for taking the time to make them!
May the peace, blessings, and mercy of God be upon you :
My dear brother: As you communicate with FL Studio, I ask you to do two things, if possible, after your warm hope.
1- Requesting the company to introduce the Arabic language to the program, at least to accept the Arabic language in the nomenclature, as was the case in version 10.
A - The possibility of including quarter tones, i.e. oriental musical scores, in the program to create oriental scales such as rast, bayat, and sika...
All thanks and appreciation to you.
My name is Yasser from Syria and currently a refugee in Türkiye
I'm sure that requesting Arabic language support in the forums would get the ball rolling on that. It is probably quite challenging but I know of a few companies who take on jobs like this.
As for the microtonal support, I think the best bet is using samplers such as Kontakt and synths like Serum which support Microtonal/quarter tones.

hey, just so you know there is a way to detect chords in FL studio via Edison.
right click on the waveform> right click on the waveform in edison> click on tools > select "convert to score and dump to piano roll"
Its not super accurate all of the time but its a real time saver
You’re right. The first time I used it was highly inaccurate so I gave up on it. Maybe it’s worth trying again!
its janky asf but if you ghost the midi output its handy@@inthemix
Last one is fire! Thanks 🙏🏻
You put a lot of GOOD Gems in this one! Thank you!
Thanks for all the videos you've been uploading so far! It's been great for me to introduce in this whole world of DAWs and production
Awesome tips bro !❤🔥
You are awsome. Thanks for helping unlock massive creative potential.
Thank you for all you videos knowledge time and help! Muchly appreciated!
huge thanks.. very nice tips
Your channel is amazing, God bless you.
Thanks man. That's very useful tips. Peace ✌🏼
Micheal you've helped me alot
You’re welcome
Literally few weeks ago I learnt there's a sort of trim knob for when u have MP3's with that bit of silence at the front
When u crank that knob ur MP3 aligns as it's supposed 😮
Thanks for the good advice 🙏
Group one is insane. Can you do the same with the mixer? And can you also add more to the same group later?
Another helpful video ❤. Thanks Mike
Your Content is Top Notch.
But no one has shown Surround Mixing and Surround Panning in Fl Studio. (Without having any phase issue in the mix)
I hope someday you will cover this Topic aswell in future. My God bless you ✌️
