So happy to see some apreciation to my countryyyyy 😊 Right now we're going through some difficult times with elections and crises so I had acctually forgotten what was like to be proud of my home for the right reasons (which this movie does an excellent job at showing) I'm really happy you've decided to watch it 💚💛

This movie was such a big deal here in Brazil when it came out! Everyone was talking about it. The director of this movie and creator of BlueSkies, Carlos Saldanha, is also Brazilian and from Rio!
I still enjoy this Blue Sky film to this day! Visually, Rio is a colorful film. Not to mention the quality of the characters and environments. The casting is really good too, for both speaking and singing as well. I also appreciate the level of comedy too. And the music is amazing! I love the songs(my favorite being “I Wanna Party”), they always get me moving and grooving and I love it. Honestly, Rio is one of my favorite non-Disney animated films.
I'm Brazilian and I went to Rio de Janeiro twice in my life. I was born and live in Brazil's southernmost state Rio Grande do Sul. People born in this state like me are called Gauchos and barbecue is our specialty! If anyone here want to taste some of what may be the best meat in the world, I recommend that you come here! And don't forget to drink the Brazilian soda Guaraná! And later as dessert you can eat Brigadeiro, which is a Brazilian sweet made of chocolate, condensed milk and butter! It's delicious! Lastly but not least if you want to taste something fruity similar to ice cream I highly recommend Açaí! I always put powder milk and strawberries on my Açaí!
Hi I'm from Brazil too. But I'm not from Rio. I'm from São Paulo. Brazil is very warm and colorful,Rio is a wonderful movie, the soundtrack was produced by Carlinhos Brow, who is a well known artist around here. Thanks for watching Rio,if you liked this one,I bet you'll love Rio 2,which takes place in Amazon 🇧🇷🇧🇷❤️
Anne Hathaway has an amazing voice, you should watch the Les Misérables movie from 2012 where it really is on display how good her voice is. Along with the fact that it's a great movie with lots of other highranked actors.
Born and raised in Rio, its very cool to see people reacting to this movie, I love my culture ♡♡♡ and the statue is called Cristo Redentor (Christ the redeemer)
Much love from Brazil. The blue macaw, in our native Portuguese, is called _arara azul._ That depiction of poverty is realistic. Keep in mind it's restricted to certain neighbourhoods in remote parts of the city. The tamarins do steal our stuff all the time, just for the sake of it. The statue is Christ the Redeemer atop Mount Corcovado; one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World, and a UNESCO heritage site. The purple trees are _quaresmeiras,_ that is, 'Lent trees'. They blossom around Lent in shades of purple. Most Brazilians hate samba too. It's mostly a Rio thing. Rio de Janeiro is the second biggest city in Brazil and the sixth most populous in the Americas, the most populous city in the Western and Southearn Hemispheres being São Paulo-SP, Brazil. Brazil has 5570 cities, of which 17 have more than a million inhabitants, and 326 cities have more than 100,000 people. The place were the Carnival parade happens is called _Sambódromo_ (Sambadrome), an actual place in Rio: a permanent samba venue. The parades are a fully televised competition watched by families all over the country.
Regarding the poverty situation in Brazil, the big problem is that big cities like Rio have a big contrast depending on the neighborhood with very good and wealthy neighborhoods right next to slums
I love Blue Sky's Rio (2011)!! It's one of my favorite animated movie franchises! And it's one of my favorite Blue Sky Studios franchises along with Ice Age! Rio (2011) is such a great movie! 😃
the thing about birds is that they aren't really born with the ability to fly. while they're still in the nest they go through a lot of developmental stages, and they even kinda "train" for their first flight by flapping their wings and even jumping around (so it's fun to see how the film starts with a dance number). i'm sure Blue not being able to fly as a baby bird can be explained further, but i'm no expert haha. i just thought it was because his developmental process was interrupted, which could've given him trauma. 🤷🏽🤷🏽
12:24 im from brazil and I live in Rio and yeah poverty is a real thing here, there are a lot of people living on the streets without a family or a home and there are also many favelas here that are communities of reaally poor people on the urban areas, the movie did a great job showing this side of Brazil. And the countryside is even worse...
The reason I believe he didn't know how to fly was his trauma from dropping from his nest and he was taken away by humans. Then more trauma when he falls out of the truck in the box so when he is finally with humans he's comforted to not need to fly by the comforters of human life.
Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein and The Wolfman are two animated Halloween movies from my childhood that I definitely recommend. They’re severely underrated.
I was a kid when this movie came out! I’m Brazilian and I thought for a long time that this was a Brazilian movie since it’s about Brazil and I watched it in Portuguese.
This and Fast Five were the one-two punch of 2011. It was cool seeing my country depicted in two different ways, a high budget animation and American style -action- superhero movie. One of the main guys at Blue Sky Studios is Carlos Saldanha, our countryman, and he's played big parts in the making of their movies, either directing or co-directing most of them. His brand of humor clearly resonated with us. The original Ice Age is loved dearly here, and our localization enjoyed really high caliber talent.

Thanks so much for reacting to this film. I love Rio. FYI, Rio was surprisingly released on my birthday back in 2011. Even though I didn’t get to see it until about a month later (as I had something else going on on my actual birthday), I was glad to have seen Rio when I did. The characters are great, and it was fun to hear mostly original songs, along with part of the Lionel Richie song. Oh, and another thing! I liked how there was a character in this film named Tulio, just like there was in the 2000 DreamWorks animated film, The Road To El Dorado. Also, who wouldn’t love the funny moments, along with special scenes like Jewel singing during the one party number? Well, great reaction yet again!

So much love for this film. One of the big showcases from Blue Sky that inspired me to look into animation as an actual career. The story is very sweet. And at a technical level, this was one of the first fully 3D-animated movies I saw that really nailed the look of a giant environment and capturing its beauty. Where it felt like the designers did their homework to really show the audience Rio and not just some fantasy location. To be fair, Pixar had been doing equal or better for many years, but I just assumed the people at PIXAR were all born rocket scientists or drank the right water. Blue Sky did a better job showcasing their process for films like Rio where indivudual artists and animators discussed their various roles. That allowed me to see the humans behind the tech and had me thinking that I would love to join a close-knit team like that one day.
I’m Glad You Reacted to this movie. Rio is one of my underrated gems. Every time I rewatch this movie I’m still engaged with the story, I’m still touched with the emotional core, I’m still made to laugh with comedy and above all I just pick up more and more details as to how this movie all comes together. For instance I love how this movie has less use of dramatic dialogue and more use of symbolism and visual storytelling through the vibrant animation and well crafted musical segments. I can go on about how I love this movie. Unfortunately I say Rio is an underrated gem because these days it has a fairly low appreciation on the Internet. I think that is due to it being a product of Blue Sky Studios. A small (fox owned) animation studio considered by the Internet to have poor quality. I think people overlook Rio for that reason. If I ever start a RUclips channel I would definitely create a deep dive analysis on why I have this opinion.
