As a girl who has a hard time asking for help in general , thank you. This whole trend of “you don’t need a man to save you” is getting stupid. It should be ok for all of us to ask for help, even if the one who is helping is a man. Asking for help should be encouraged, we can’t do or deal with everything alone. Children, especially teenagers who might be having a hard time due to the changes of growing up, could really use this message.
Never mind that they’re trying to act like love and romance and true loves kiss or bad things. That’s why I still love the classic fairytales I don’t want these modern remakes they take beautiful things and basically throw them down the toilet.
Yeah What you're describing is "interdependence" which is basically knowing when to ask for help when you need help but not be super dependent on people and also remember to stand on your own two feet Glad I learned about that in college and I hope more people learn about it and be okay with it
@@aurea. this is what scares me all these little girls are going to grow up, thinking that these trashy roommates are the real deal and they’re not going to know the beauty and the joy of the classics.
They're trying to 'empower' Ariel. It's dumb. Ariel was hugely empowered in the original Little Mermaid, both film and fairy tale. She made dozens of choices that radically affected the direction of the narrative. She had the most agency of any character. And that's what empowerment is: not power, as the name would suggest, but agency. The capacity to choose. Shame such messages don't exist in modern film... ...except they do.
Lol 😂 Someone register this comment into a book of famous quotes. Literally this is the crux of the issue that women never need help (God forbid a man’s help). There’s no internal struggle or character development that inherently requires the help of another person. She was born perfect with her life in order. Having a prince (that she saved on her own) as a husband would just be the cherry on top of her already perfect, no-struggles-needed character/life.
@@CoachCarter94lol how you going to add a bible scripture to a kids live action movie. Y’all acting like this movie is real. What is wrong with a black person saving the day. Lol how are y’all concern about the ending. And if you know the lord, you need him lol
But Eric was perfect in the narrative. Ariel was the flawed on. It also makes NARRATIVE sense for Ariel to kill Ursula. She’s the protagonist. Eric doesn’t even know Ursula (in her true form without being hypnotized) for k more than maybe 10 seconds.
Eric killing Ursula is instrumental to the story. King Triton has a strong aversion to humans, and this is pivotal for him to see them differently. Any other conclusion would prevent him from giving Ariel legs and allowing her to marry Eric and live with mankind. You can't just retcon this part of the story because, "Rawr! Female power. I don't need no man" BS. Man, this is so frustrating. Disney deserves to fail, and be wiped completely off of the map. I hope this movie absolutely bombs.
110% agree with you. This is probably going to be the MOST frustrating Disney live action remake to date. The substance of the story is being ruthlessly gutted and turned into some pushy political agenda nonsense that continues to bankrupt Disney, and (for that matter) Hollywood as time goes on. You know it’s an agenda, because they keep pushing it, despite this industry losing billions with these dumpster fires.
so dramatic and waaay of wrong. did you watch the movie? how about stop being a hater and a negative person. because you would see that the movie is not at all like you negative and hating people were praying for it to be. it's people like you that would make king triton rethink about letting ariel back on land. also no it isnt as instrumental to the story there is plenty of other things ariel and eric (and the other humans) do that are inline with their characters thtat convinces triton to let ariel live her life and be with humans. man for some one who is acting so strongly about the movie as if they actually cared about the little mermaids message (og story) and the little mermaid ariels symbolism ( the cartoon) your mentality is far off. first of the whole point is for even in the cartoon and the og story for ariel to find her own way and live her life as she wishes and not confined and controlled by her father. her getting her legs is her father letting her go because she had already proved she can take care of herself and that she will go her way no matter what and yes that she will find people who will love and support her ( her friends, eric and the kind peopel she meets on land). it;s not just not trusting humans he also doesnt trust ariel (that she is capable). also eric doesnt neet to do the killing blow to help fight ursual which he does and also attacks her. man just watch the movie and learn to not be so negative without any real info and stop feeding yourself with negative energy and emotions when there is no reason to. literally this nonsense that people were saying about the movie was so wrong any ways.
@@CoachCarter94Personally I think the Jungle Book remake was the most frustrating one so far. They completely missed the point of the source material to the point where they made Mowgli stay in the jungle just because it's where he grew up, rather than having him accept that the jungle has nothing to offer him in the long run and go to the village. The Little Mermaid remake was frustrating, but at least they got the narrative somewhat right even though the changes they made hurt the movie.
Kinda like with peach. She’s strong incredibly smart but because she doesn’t fit the stereotypical idea of a strong independent woman! She’s cautious and passive and reactive. She does things but after something happens. In paper Mario and later super Mario games she is shown doing her own thing through post cards and even in the original paper Mario she tries to escape and almost succeeds it was her own sense of Justice that got her re-caught. In the super princess peach game she goes on a quest to save Mario but she doesn’t just casually go on a quest to stop bowser. Something has to happen first before she can do something herself
Agree. That’s how I feel about Princess Peach. I didn’t like that they made her a girl boss in the Mario movie and it looks like they are doing the same in the Little Mermaid “Remake.”
@@sirorliktheironclad Agree! There's a difference between a strong badass female character and than an insufferable girl boss which I feel like this version of Ariel will be
Another problem that this change creates is that, in the end of the original animated movie, you can see that there is a silent moment of respect between Eric and Triton. In the past, Triton had a very strong hatred against humanity for all the fish that they hunt on a daily basis, so knowing that Eric not only treated Ariel well, but was also willing to fight for her against a foe that was way beyond both a regular human AND Triton's own magic would've undoubtedly impressed Triton a lot, and it would allow Triton to see that there is good in humanity. In their attempt to "empower" this new Ariel, they will take away from Eric's agency, and it's really annoying, because he is as much relevant to the original movie as Ariel is.
People don't realize that by nerfing the man they are actually hurting the woman to. That tells women they are supposed to do everything and the man doesn't need to do anything. Women must be superwoman and we should be ok with men that do nothing. Like they are just accessories.
THANK YOU!! You just said every problem I have with that new ending. On top of that: If Ariel is the one who defeats Ursula, what reason does King Triton have to turn Ariel back into a human? What, is he gonna think: Well, she can clearly handle herself, so I can I can trust with this random human. Give me a break.
Eric saving Ariel was the catalyst for Triton to overcome his issues with humans. If that doesn't happen, why would Triton allow Ariel to leave the ocean?
Man I always loved Ursula phase 2 fight because as powerful as she is, she forgot that she is still physically weak despite being giant and the fact that Eric figured that out
What annoys me the most about this change (at least in the book so far) of Ariel killing Ursula instead of Eric is how the Disney chills say that it made no sense for Eric to defeat Ursula in the original movie. It was all connected to King Triton’s dislike of humans and then changing his mind about them after Eric showed his bravery and love for Ariel by risking himself in order to take down Ursula. The movie was leading up to that moment from the beginning, but that’s not empowering enough I guess so here we are with yet another Disney soulless remake that misunderstands the og movie and disrespects it. Thanks, Disney. I hate it.
I agree. The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie, anything they do to it is going to ruin it. Ursula is even my favorite villain because she lays it out straight for Ariel... "Life's full of tough choices, idn't it?" Then she went and sabotaged Ariel's chance, but she's a villain, right? By the way, Ursula's actions would have voided the contract with Ariel. It wasn't "unbreakable". Ursula had already broken the contract by interfering with Ariel's performance.
The film is 2 hrs and 15 minutes long. I mean seriously what else are they going to add. It’s no wonder why Disney is using the media to protect this film by using Hailey Bailey to protect them from any criticism. Because if they didn’t race swap Ariel everyone would see how awful this film is.
even with the race swap as awful as that is. ( seriously she doesn't even look remotely close to Ariel. ) I seen a lot of people point out the bad cgi, the grey colouring, the hideous looking cgi abomination animals, the song changes, the additional hour added. 1 trailer has 3 million dislikes ( last I checked ) another trailer has 1 million. It will be interesting to see how this movie performs especially in Asian regions along with China.

Quoting a Ugandan Philosopher: *any time someone calls attention to the breaking of gender roles, it ultimately undermines the concept of gender equality by implying that this is an exception and not the status quo.*
I can honestly say that Eric is my favorite Disney prince of all time. He speaks to the people that should serve him as friends, he helped Ariel without even sure about her being the girl he was looking for, he knows he can't breath under water but he still swam to the bottom of the sea to harpoon Ursula because he loves Ariel, he used all the strength to defeat Ursula for Ariel and unknowingly saved the entire undersea kingdom. He actually has a hobby, he's not so full of himself and didn't like the idea that people made him look so majestic. He's a romantic, he is actually comfortable when he's around Ariel. He can be himself around Ariel and not be so uptight like everyone else told him to be. Ariel and Eric actually enjoy doing things together, and that's why I love this couple, they're the best in my opinion. Love is in those little moments, I really like how they showed that when Ariel is exploring the kingdom with Eric, and Eric doesn't really stop her from exploring the world around her. The two have similar personalities and they matched. I guess this is just what Eric thought the love of his life would come into his life, Ariel pretty much fall into Eric's arms and suddenly showed up in his life like lightening.
I made a meme of what Disney characters would think if they saw their live action remakes by using the scene from the ending of the Ember Island Players episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
I would also like to add my two cents into this Erik was not the one who amplified her want to go to the human world with a call to action was her father destroying all her hidden treasures that’s what hyped up her emotions and you can’t forget about the two eels That basically told her how she can do it I can’t believe Disney is willing to get rid of that and plus I hear that they’re making her lose her memory so what was the point of Ursula turning into a woman if she’s just gonna straight up lose her memory
It's a shame Disney has forgotten how important Eric was for Disney Princes. Before him, we had the ones in Snow White and Cinderella, and Philip in Sleeping Beauty. Because Disney animators weren't confident with drawing human men, they limited the princes' involvements in the story and gave them minimal character. But Eric changed that. He was the first Disney Prince to have hobbies and a personality. He's a musician, he's a free spirit, he's a sailor, he laughs and dances with his men. He showed that Disney was finally ready to give its leading male human characters some character, and it paid off. Why take away his crowning moment of awesome to give it to Ariel, who already had plenty of awesome moments in the film?
As cool as it is to have strong female characters, they're really starting to sacrifice the male characters for it. Especially the preexisting ones who who actually have personality and maybe one Twitter thread has a problem with. I want strong characters saving each other, or weak characters pushing past their fear because the other matters to them. They're not making a new story or making anything less problematic, they're just,, flipping the person playing the roles in a weak attempt to prove how "with the times" they are. Are feminine men shown in a positive light a good thing? Absolutely. Is it okay for the man to be the one in need of saving? 100% that'd actually be really cool. Is it right to take a preexisting character's part of a moment because they're a man and it doesn't fit the narrative of the public? Not one bit. Like,,Eric and Ariel are saving each other, Eric just happens to get the final blow. I'd genuinely rather they make new movies than redoing and altering old movies if their agenda is that important to them. Or adjust those blank slate princes to fit their needs. Just stop dumbing down the fleshed out male characters.
If you look through a making-of for Aladdin (1992), Disney had already forgotten about Eric. There's a part where Glen Keane describes the Disney formula of "cartoonish sidekicks, dramatic villains, beautiful heroines, and the boring Prince Charming no one wanted to animate", when talking about how they developed Aladdin's character. It's like they completely forgot about Eric and the Beast, who were not cookie-cutter princes either. I don't think Prince Philip fits into the "boring" category either, considering he fought Maleficent in the climax of Sleeping Beauty (making him more active than Snow White's Prince and Prince Charming).
The point of Eric saving Ariel is to show King Triton that not all humans are bad and Eric cares for Ariel a lot. So how is Triton going to change his POV if Ariel is doing everything
he won't his girlboss of a daughter is going to realize she don't need no man, learn to enjoy the taste of calamari and take over as queen with the new love of her life Ursala.
My question is how the hell is she gonna get on the ship if all she has is her tail? Not to mention the storm Ursula is causing would make it even harder for her. Hell, she would probably be flopping around just to get to the wheel.
@@KrystalArtz4355 And it's during a storm, too. Experienced captains still found it difficult to navigate through those, and Disney's telling us that a girl who's never manned a ship can just do that?
@@vim2339 That’s because the sea was calm when she climbed aboard. When the storm happened, she tried to hang onto one of the ropes on the ship, but was thrown off due to the severe winds. Trust me, that’s how it happened.

I was going to comment on that if you hadn't, thank you. That _really_ creeps me out, that implication from the change. This is going to be a disaster isn't it...
I knew changing the lyrics to Kiss the Girl was dumb in the first place, but then you had me thinking about _THAT_ implication, and.....yikes 0_0 Disney definitely didn't think that through.
This message feels so toxic to young girls, just as you said. It's telling them they shouldn't need nor want to ask for help from anyone, and honestly that's just another pathway to being more prone to being in abusive relationships. It's not "empowering", it's patronizing
True. Dependence isn't good, obviously, but I'll be damned if I don't have a tendency to refuse to ask for help and then regret it. Also, in a relationship, good partners have each other's back. It's not a bad thing to show.
@@shippendales8543 except afaik they're not doing the original backstory here for Ursula. Even if they did, that now makes Ariel have the blood of a family member on her hands. Regardless of how evil Ursula is, that's still gonna mess with a teenager's head, and it's going to make her relationship with Triton even worse since it would mean all this time he never once told her to stay away from her evil aunt. Also isn't the message of telling a teen victim of manipulation to make up for the consequences of their actions what they call victim blaming?

@@marcusholder6508 oh crap you're right, Puss in Boots did that so well. Puss in Boots once again proves to be the superior movie of the last few years.
What I loved about Little Mermaid (even as a kid) is that Ariel and Eric save and fight for each other. Ariel is no slouch, she rescued Eric from a ship wreck, is determined to reach the wedding ship and fights to get to him, and even physically attacks Ursula. Eric may not be able to swim under water, but he does what he can. He knows ships, and uses his sailing skills to help out the best he can. Even after having been bewitched, him using the ship is his own way of fighting back against the sea witch. It makes Ariel and Eric equals. As they both fight in their own way for the same thing.
Good point. I love couples who “take turns” saving each other; it’s sweet, yes but it also sends a message that this is a healthy relationship dynamic. And frankly, it should be more encouraged.
Yeah and people forget she washed up on the shore and Eric thought she had just been in an accident and needed help. He didn't know her and she wasn't the girl he was in love with or so he thought and he still took her into his home and was trying to help her. He was a genuinely kind person to a penniless girl in trouble. He also was hesitant to even pursue her until she kept giving him signals. And even then he needed some encouragement. He was respectful. Why do people just ignore that?
The animator even kept that dinamig in that terrible sequel. Eric was able to fight the villain with his human daughter, because the merpeople were enslaved by her.
I quit watching that remake when it showed Mulan fully capable of doing anything she wanted to do, no trying and failing necessary. Like, what? Og Mulan was kind of a mess at the beginning, but she persevered and became a badass. Much better, and realistic, than what they did in the remake.
Yeah they turned mulan misogynist and they turned little mermaid woke. The only movies they did right with was alice, Cinderella and Aladdin. I didn’t bother watching lion king and I shut off Mulan 20 minutes into it. Now we know why all the remakes are being done. To pacify Gen z with their baby pacifiers. So, what's Triton going to say after all of this? *"You know, Ariel, I was mad at you for saving this human from drowning, but now that you saved him again from Ursula, I guess I'm not mad this time. Okay, you can be with him. Here's your legs."*
No you’re both wrong. It would be insulting for her to need her toxic-male father’s permission to be human. In fact, Triton is going to realize what a strong capable merperson Ariel is, and tell her it’s time for her to start ruling the undersea kingdom. So he will relinquish his crown and trident to Ariel who will actually turn herself human using her newfound godly powers, and merge the land and sea kingdoms together so she can have all of her friends from both worlds. Eric will be at her side as some sort of king-consort with no real power, because give all godly/kingly power and authority to strong independent female character with no inner struggles or character flaws 😂
i banned u from the surface the first time u saved him but meh... i guess u can live with this *spineless, savage, harpooning fish-eater* since u saved him yet again (verbatim)
The biggest problem I have with the "strong female character" trope that's been pushed so hard is that it's honestly damaging for young girls. Instead of being shown that it's okay to feel weak sometimes, it's okay to ask for help, they're bombarded with the constant sentiment that you don't need anyone's help, especially not a MAN's. All you need is to realize how amazing and awesome you already are, and you can't fail. This is legitimately terrible advice, because it encourages girls to think that any failure they encounter is never their own fault, but it's always because someone else is holding them back. It can't possibly be because they simply can't do everything themselves.

So they’re throwing Eric’s love for Ariel by literally surviving a giant monster and killing it to save her right into the toilet because girl power and strong independent woman…
Yep! Why would King Triton still even need a character development arc of eventually learning to realize that not all humans are “barbarians,” and let his daughter go with the human Prince Eric after he saves the lives of both his youngest daughter and the rest of the ocean by killing Ursula? Why would he even think to let his daughter go up to live on the land with Eric when he seems to be completely incompetent in this version, and Ariel seems to already be able to do everything she wanted to become a human for as a mermaid, anyway? Why would Ariel even make a deal to become a human to explore the land and be with Eric, if her fins can already defy the laws of fins, gravity, and physics by letting her float and move around upright on land? Either way, these are just more reasons proving why woke Disney live action remake movies suck, and have had no point existing since they redid BATB.
@@Schoolgirl325 yeah, just wait until we get a Sleeping Beauty remake where she kills the dragon instead, or easily convinces Maleficent to become good. Barf.
So back in 2015 with Cinderella's live action they actually gave the prince more agency because in the original movie he didn't even bother to look for her. I thought that was a fine change. Here it's the opposite, Eric one and only moment is taken away. Ariel already saved him before, wasn't that enough? I'm not even gonna comment on on how stupid that picture is with a mermaid standing up and steering a ship, why would she need legs if she's able to do that? I'll just rewatch the original twice the day this hits theathers, seems like it's a better use of my time.
That's why Cinderella is the best live action. Everyone got to shine and to do something important in the story. The other live actions after Cinderella were only focusing on the Princess
Why is it that disney hasn't made all their live-action films in the same vein as the live-action Cinderella? It's well acted, has good genuine characters, even does great job with the whole progressive stuff they were doing and didn't undermine teh male characters or female characters or do any stupid racial tokenism. @@orboakin8074 Different directors, different marketing strategies and all that I guess. Racial tokenism was also present in Cinderella but it was in the background just like in Beauty and the Beast later on (the Duke is played by a black actor in the live action but they also removed him from the plot so I'd argue it's even worse than today's tokenism). Also they needed to market their movies to China, I guess that's no longer an issue now.
@@0909Alz I see your point but what I mean by criticizing the racial tokenism is that at east in Cinderella 2015, the black characters actually were written as characters and not race-swapped or anything disgusting like that. @@orboakin8074 Not all race swapping is done just for "tokenism." I believe Halle Bailey was genuinely the best choice for this Ariel. She has the right sweet/spunky/mischievous quality, and she nails the singing. I'm more annoyed with how they have to make the animal characters so photo realistic that they take away all of the charm and expressiveness of the animated ones. I think that's why we've seen very little of Sebastian. There's no way a realistic-looking crab will be as convincing in his two big numbers.
Even if they do add a scene of Ariel learning how to sail, she still wouldn’t be able to steer the ship in the final battle because it’s during a crazy storm and even the best sailors have trouble steering through those. However, Eric was able to steer the ship because it’s established during the shipwreck scene that he has nautical experience. Someone like Eric would have years of experience from living on an island kingdom and needing to travel by sea. Someone like Ariel wouldn’t have the experience because she lived underwater for the majority of her life and would have no idea how to steer ships under pressure. Knowing Disney’s recent love for Mary Sues, it wouldn’t surprise me if they make Ariel the bestest evar. The mere idea pisses me off. I wish these remakes would stop. They ruin the original classics.

Asking for help is not a weakness, you should never be afraid to ask for help. Sometimes not asking for help can be far worst for some people, especially if they're in physical danger. Being told that you should fix all your problems yourself is so toxic and I hate that a kids movie that is supposed to inspire little girls is teaching them to never ask for help.

@@beauwalker9820 Same can be said for little boys who are taught to take abuse without fighting back or crying lest they be seen as wimps. Flawless male characters like Superman, James Bond, and MacGyver gives boys unrealistic and unhealthy expectations how to act.
Calling it now, they're going to make Ursula a "sympathetic villain", a victims even, and Triton is going to be the real villain because men are the real bad guys, especially father figures are all toxic
@@michaelstrong5383 yeah, Disney really loves watering down it's classic villains... From Maleficent just becoming some "it's not her fault she was bad, some man made her that way" watered down villain, to Jafar losing his calm, calculating, elegant villain status to a mere raving, angry, Saturday Morning cartoon villain, (and Iago just becoming a generic parrot) Scar losing his passive aggressive sarcasm charm, and such... Only one they kinda did right was Gaston, but it was better in the original that he literally stabbed the Beast in the back to show his betrayal, as opposed to shooting him in the back several times from a safe distance. I also felt Stromboli getting his comeuppance in remake Pinnochio felt too convenient and tacked on. Everything is about as well written as an amateur fanfiction.
A troubling pattern that I'm seeing here in these Disney movies is this message: these women are heroes because they are NATURALLY BORN PERFECT. In real life, who is born naturally perfect? No one is, so the message I'm seeing is; you are born the way you are, and you cannot change, so if you aren't born a hero, you don't have a path toward being one. You cannot grow into being better than you are now, and no one should try to teach you that you can or ought to. That is a very toxic message to see repeatedly, especially in these movies that are designed to replace the older stories. We need to hold on to these older stories that teach that we can become who we want or need to be through effort, or by working with others, or so.
What I love about Zootopia’s MC is that she failed in police training in the beginning, had to use her bunny skills to navigate a world not built for her. She was wrong and flawed at the end, and had to make things right. Zootopia may be a bit woke, but it didn’t alienate men or made it a predator vs prey (white vs poc) issue. They made the topic of racism a bad person vs innocent people issue, which is why it’s a very good “woke” movie that tackles racism. It’s original too!! What the fck are these remakes.
Modern Disney: Ariel can't consent because she is mute! Eric is forcing himself on her! Mute adults in loving relationships all around the world: 🤨😒🤔🙄😠
Not to mention Ariel literally WANTS Eric to kiss her because it's part of the DEAL SHE MADE WITH URSULA (AND ALSO BECAUSE SHE LOVES HIM) Just how much more dumb modern Disney is gonna get
What's more is that in the remake, Ariel literally can't consent because Ursula magically makes her forget about her motive every time there's a chance she may get kissed.
I'm starting to notice a pattern in modern Disney movies, they all seem to have the message "Never ask for help, do everything yourself. If you ask for help your weak and pathetic. Great line of thinking. Just ask any suicidal person, they can tell you how great that line of thinking is.
Disney already showed what they think of the Disney Princes back in Wreck It Ralph 2. They demanded them by saying their only purpose was to be a big, strong man to solve all the women's problems. Nevermind the fact that most of the heroines would be screwed if the princes hadn't stepped up and been selfless heroes.
I have three daughters (6, 8, and 10 years old) and thankfully they have no interest in seeing the remake. I showed them the trailer and asked if they want me to take them to see it, and my ten year old said no thanks, we can watch the cartoon anytime on Disney. You’d think that they’d be the exact demographic that the movie’s aimed at, but the trailer just didn’t do it for them. And they love the original.
I thought Eric killing Ursula was symbolic to show not all humans are bad and one just killed the evil witch that imprison the king and half the kingdom which is why King Triton changed his mind about humans and let Ariel marry Eric. also, I don't like the expression of Ursula in the picture book she looks too scared and sad and not evil and angry like in the movie
Ariell already saved 3 times Eric at this point of the story: When he was drowning When he was going to to marry ursula And when Ursula was going to shot him Eric saving Ariel wouldn't undermine anything, it would make the couple balanced because both were willing to save eachother 😅
Actually Scuttle saved Eric from marrying Vanessa, since Scuttle led the animals to crash the wedding and Scuttle helped Ariel get her voice back by breaking the conch shell necklace with his beak.
Looking at the original Little Mermaid ending, Ariel and Eric actually worked together to defeat Ursula, as such, no one was being portrayed as lesser than anyone else.
>We'll have to wait and see. No, we won't. It's scientifically impossible for this film to be good. These people hate you, don't give them the benefit of the doubt.
I love how fucking everyone seems to forget that before Eric saved Ariel in the end, she saved his life twice! Like, let the boy return the favour guys. Otherwise, what's the point of him?
I also think that in the animated film if anyone was pushing for the kiss it was Ariel, Sebastian, flounder and Scuttle. They all knew about the contract and Eric was in the dark about that. So if anyone was feeling the pressure to “kiss the girl” it was Eric.
@@Idkacutename123 in the original the villain didn't win, because the sea witch wasn't a villain, just a chaotic neutral whom warned the Mermaid about the consequences, and even struck a deal with the Mermaid's sisters to help her. I even remember in the "Shelley Duval Fairy Tale Theater" version, the sea witch was actually kinda nice.
Funny enough, I actually wanted that since the start. I hear that these remakes are supposed to be more mature since the cartoons are meant to be seen as CHILDISH. So I'm waiting for them to give a "mature adaptation" of the remakes. Since most are just lazy copy paste, with changes that are, over all, pointless. I'm still mostly happy with the original animated films.
@@usonohoshi6165 The Alice in Wonderland remake was actually really good because it aged Alice up, placed everything in a very twisted and whimsical setting, and had a more mature feel to it. Why can't the other remakes be like that? As an adult who likes dark and creepy stories, I'd love to see darker versions of my favorite movies that are more aligned with the original Grimm/Anderson tales. I will always love the animated versions no matter what, but I would be intrigued by more mature versions.
I am sick and tired of any female lead movie nowadays killing the romance in the name of “progressive values”. The original Little Mermaid movie was a classic for a reason.
@@aidanhever3369 You said that they will 2023 Eric lamer than the original but you believe it as a lie and Eric would still stay the same, which help makes me feel better.
It's such an unnecessary change, Ariel gets plenty of moments to shine and be heroic. Eric can impale a sea witch, as a treat. In all seriousness though, if they want to go with empowering victims of manipulation in this version of the story, Eric MUST have a moment of triumph over Ursula! They want to address consent issues, LET THE GUY WHO WAS BRAINWASHED AND FORCED INTO MARRIAGE UNKNOWINGLY GET REVENGE ON THE WOMAN WHO TOOK HIS ABILITY TO CONSENT AWAY what the actual FUCK why would you TAKE IT FROM HIM
The curse of "girlboss" is afoot. It's gone from the one UNIQUE woman being strong and independent, to EVERY woman needs to be that way. Not only does this make woman feel like they need to be strong, but it also stops a lot of creativity in media. This is why I hated that name existing. Because its sorta like the redundancy of "breaking the glass ceiling" repeatedly. All it serves is false validation that they are strong and causes unneeded conflict. This curse is hopefully temporary though. The most likely reason it exists is because companies are scared to be called sexist or bigots for making weak characters, which would bring down profit. Once they realize it won't they might go back to making normal content again.
Here's a secret: NONE of these stupid "live-action" remakes of classic Disney animated movies will stand the test of time. The classics are classic for a reason. The live-action remakes are forgotten in a matter of months... maybe even weeks. Does anyone remember or care about the live-action Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast? The Lion King and Jungle Book remakes made a ton of money, but no one cares about those anymore either.
Lets not forget about the song "kiss the girl", Ariel gives some very clear signs she wants to be kissed, she even leans into him a couple of times during the song. The song is about Eric having the courage to overcome his doubts and fears
You know what? Maybe they could've kept the ending where this Ariel turns to sea foam along with her sisters. (I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP! THAT'S ACTUALLY HOW THE ORIGINAL STORY ENDS!)
I mean it would of been more in line with the much darker color pallet and Disneys whole shtick of how wanting a partner is the worst thing possible for a young woman
Here's what I think. I think Ursula isn't going to end up being a villain in this new TLM maybe she's going to get a redemption arc. Have you noticed that the female villains in Disney's live action movies are always portrayed differently from the animations? Maleficent and Cruella were giving background stories. But male villains are left as villains Jafar and Gaston as examples. So who's to say Ursula won't be given the same treatment as the other Live Action Disney female villains . Cos of this Delusion that Disney seems to have about women being perfect and can never do wrong. I really hope I'm wrong about all this though
You are a legend & PERFECTLY sum up how I feel regarding this ABOMINATION of a “remake”! There will only ever be ONE “The Little Mermaid” & it’s not this bastardisation. Bravo to you as I literally couldn’t agree more just like your comments regarding “Mulan”. “Beauty and the Beast” was also similar in changing stuff to suit modern identity politics & “girl boss” 🤢 the only “true” adaptation has been “Cinderella” IMO
You bringing the "Kiss the Girl" lyric change reminds me of the ones they'll do to "Poor Unfortunate Souls" I think they'll change lines about how she sings that men don't like women who speak. And I'm aware she's been practically stalking Airel during the movie and probably knows that Eric was in love with her voice. But if the lines are changed then she has almost no reason to take her voice. Plus she's the villain, she's supposed to be leading Ariel on to believe such things thanks to Ariels limited knowledge on humans and the upper world.
Disney rewrote the ending THE FIRST TIME! For those who aren't familiar w the source material, the Prince never loved the little mermaid (who felt the pain of walking on broken glass on human legs) and married someone else, then the little mermaid DIED and lived as bubbles for 600 years.
There was an alternative ending in which she turned into the "daughter of air" and when she helped enough people, she will get a soul and go to heaven. Getting a soul was her main goal for turning human, since mermaids do not have souls. However she fell in love with the Prince and could not think of killing him to turn back into a mermaid.
While it's true that the Disney animated movie wasn't faithful to the book, I don't think it ever claimed to be an adaptation of the original story; it was very much it's own thing that blossomed from the inspiration of the original. This, on the other hand, is a literal adaptation of the Disney animated movie, and the original book's story has nothing to do with anything in this context.
If this remake came out when I was a kid and my parents somehow convinced me to see it. ( they wouldn't have I was too in love with the original ) but if they did I would have gotten bored after the film reached the 1 hour mark & would have started asking to leave.
The worst part is that the film is 2 hours and 15 minutes, which means they’re adding an hour of extra content. What the hell are they gonna do with that time?
I love that Disney pretends its old female leads were weak and useless in the story when they had more agency and stronger personalities than crybaby characters like Elsa. Ariel saved Eric twice: when he was drowning after the storm, and when Ursula was about to kill him with the Trident. What was wrong with him showing his love to Ariel by returning the favour at the end of the film by killing the villain?
Dang, Howard Ashman is definitely rolling in his grave right now. I find it kind of disrespectful of Disney to change Asman's legacy by changing the lyrics the way Ashman intented them to be into something Disney wanted. Poor Unfortunate Souls doesn't need to be changed. It's a villain song, of course there are going to be some negative things.
How DARE they change Howard Ashman's lyrics. He was a gay man (so why would he write a song about a man forcing himself onto someone?) He was also a well known lyricist who died of AIDS, bringing more attention to the issues surrounding that. He was talented and and bought us these wonderful lyrics that launched the Disney Renaissance into full force. It's like they completely forgot where the source material came from.
Lets just acknowledge that this is not The Little Mermaid. They have a different character, different songs, and a different ending. This is not the Little Mermaid.
It amazes me the lengths Disney will go to hurt their brand with diminishing returns at this point. Ariel and Eric are Awesome together and Ariel's Little Mermaid shows and movies are things I've since I was a little boy who was always drawing from cartoons he watched! Thanks for covering this situation of love for Ariel's franchise ❤❤❤❤😊😊
For a while, I thought Eric was a bit of a dummy, specifically for not noticing Sebastian speaking into his ear or questioning any of the odder things going on, but I've since warmed up to him. He might be a bit naive, but he's clearly better than I gave him credit for (I don't take apparent mental incompetence well, it's an issue I've worked on since) and I like him these days, he's a confident, happy, compassionate, and brave young man. I in particular love his defeat of Ursula, how he manages to actually _grab the ropes of a passing ship_ while being tossed around in the waves, and scale said ropes and pilot the ship is honestly an amazing set of feats that impress me now and likely will forever. The fact that I once thought unfairly of Eric, and that apparently the "remake" will be taking away a lot of what made him crucial to the plot, at least in a way that's compassionate to his character, makes me angry. These remakes are disgusting. As for this video *mjtanner* you have a magnificently concise way to put all this and I love it! I'm glad I clicked.
Ever since Wreck it Ralph 2 and ,"do people think your problems have been solved all because you met a big strong man?/That bug strong man is in trouble!", I knew where all these movies would end up...
And how does Ariel learn how to steer a ship? Disney’s really setting a dangerous precedent. A LOT of entertainment companies are. Long gone are the days of having female characters with flaws that they need overcome. Now female characters are all perfect. They thrive in every aspect in life and don’t need help from anyone. What message does that teach girls? If you’re not perfect and aren’t skilled in every activity ever, too bad? Should’ve been born more perfect. I’m all for trying to highlight the competence of their female characters (especially given the stereotypes that have formed). But at least make things somewhat plausible. Unless they include a scene where Ariel learns how to captain a ship, then this doesn’t work. We’ve seen how Eric had to teach Ariel to steer a horse drawn carriage. And even then, she didn’t immediately get it. She needed to learn to reign things in. And now she’s able to steer an entire boat during a magical storm conjured by a sea witch? Yes, there’s power in being self-sufficient. But there’s even more power in having the courage to admit your own shortcomings and ask for help (or to rely on others). You can still get in the lessons about female empowerment without sacrificing the other lessons that the original film was able to teach. They’re acting as if Ariel was a damsel in distress when she needed so much courage to try and pursue a man without her voice or knowing how to walk. By trying to overcompensate for what they deem to be issues with the original film, the directors have come off as being pretty misogynistic in how they’ve viewed their female leads.
Yeah, and tearing down the male characters to prop up the female is misogynistic too, because it implies they don't think women are equal to men, and they have to handicap them to make them look good.
@@beauwalker9820 Ya know, I didn’t even think about this. But you’re totally right. Feminism is supposed to be about seeing women as equal to men (as they are). Feeling the need to lower the men’s abilities is just another slap in the face if “Women are only equal when men are given a handicap”.
It's even stupider with the fact that Ariel is doing this while her lower half is a fish tail. How in the hell can she stabilise herself operating that wheel when she doesn't have any legs which are required for the task? Realistically, her anatomy cannot support the tension from the wheel and she'd be thrown off, especially during a thunderstorm.
I have no idea how they expect the Ariel to stand up and steer ship, that picture looks insane... Also the sheer amount of hate that's fueling these changes is much worse than anything in the movie, these changes are feel like a fanfiction written by the most hateful person in the world
Also i'd like to say the ideal that Ariel can't consent because she's mute is hugely ableist. NOT TO MENTION Ursula's an older woman taking advantage of the youth and naivete of two impulsive teenagers who are in love and under circumstances where they can't be together. It's VERY nuanced for a Disney love story- but Disney doesn't see the nuance and depth of their own works anymore.
@@SweetOrangeGirl honestly, the Cinderella one was the only one I liked everything after that no and please forgive me but for me personally the worst offender of them all is going to be the upcoming snow white. I’m sorry but everything about that is wrong wrong wrong wrong if I’m being hateful I pray you forgive me.
Did Disney even re-check the original? Ariel was clearly helping to take down Ursula along with Eric (Ariel was trying to stop her underwater before Ursula became a giant). It was only Eric who dealt the final blow, and without it Ariel’s father wouldn’t have even come to trusting humans in the first place!
they complained saying eric has no agency but then they take away one of his best moments that define his characters... like wth is wrong with Disney. I'm so tired of them trashing the classics
It feels like someone at Disney watched every single CinemaSins on their old movies and is hellbent on trying to undermine every bad-faith take of their films. Like you've heard them all in the past: "Belle just has stockholm syndrome", or "Ariel sold her soul to get laid!" They couldn't even let Pinocchio make his own mistakes and learn his own lessons, he was a victim of circumstance at every turn.
Ariel WANTS to kiss Eric, but can't talk. She has friends that try to transmit that want to him, "oh no! Eric is a creep that wants to impose himself onto her!"
Eric has always been my favorite prince. He is so wholesome and has genuine character, instead of just being the “male protagonist”, he’s a lot more than that. But now they are going to massacre him 😭
it should be plain obvious by now that this current Disney executives really hate the classics that if they had the absolute power, they would pull them from every, nook and cranny and replace with this modern '' corrections or craps. it's just not about nostalgia bait, cash grabs and the '' message '' or any other scheme, is just pure spite, insanity and destruction now especially when they are fully aware (and still in denial) that their actions and results are not paying off highly.
Personality I'm not suprised that Ariel is going to impale Ursala. I know what Woke Hollywood Demands and I knew that they would go that route just because I knew what Woke Hollywood wants.
Of course they do this. Can't have a man save the girl in this modern "gilrboss" world. There's nothing wrong with someone saving someone, or someone helping someone. There are times and points that people need to be saved, or require someone to help them. *There is nothing wrong with that.* I think a lot of people are just too damn prideful today, and it shows even more in trash like this. WARNING for spoilers on Suzume below. Recently, I just watched Suzume in theatres and while the plot generally is about a girl saving a guy (along with sealing doors that are gates), the guy, Souta, also actually helps her emotionally by reassuring her, talking to her, and encouraging her as well. So, in that kind of relationship, I didn't mind that she saved him and even liked that aspect in this story because of these factors: a) They were both likable and you rooted for them. They shared the goal of sealing doors that allowed a dark entity to exit and could kill millions of people if it was left alone. Suzume is a plucky and nice girl who has hang-up's on the death of her mother, and Souta is a dutiful guy who actually provided a lot of emotional support for Suzume during their trek around Japan, and showing a surprisingly vulnerable side when she saves him (i.e. scared of dying and desperately wanting to live so he could see everyone again instead of his initial "I'll accept my fate" in dutiful obedience). Never once did Suzume talk down on Souta or insult his intelligence or usefulness just because he was a man nor when he was cursed. Especially when he gets cursed where I know for sure Western studios would mock him if they were the ones writing this story. b) I don't want to spoil too much but Souta essentially sacrifices himself for millions of people. Suzume also chose the hard decision of being the one to seal him rather than let millions die if he wasn't sealed. Despite that, she's determined to still find a way to save him, willing to sacrifice herself even so he can live instead. I cannot see this kind of story work today with Western film and entertainment. Not with the current political atmosphere. If they had the chance to write Suzume, they'd wholly go for Shinkai's original vision (a romance road-trip between two girls) while mocking men and looking down on them. Honestly, I'm glad the original vision didn't get written because we still need stories of this kind today - where it's not a bad thing for a woman to save a man, or a man to save a woman. But what matters most is the reasoning behind it: Suzume saved Souta yes because she loved him, but also because he was cruelly and unwillingly put in that position from something *she* did (removing the old seal). At the same time, she wasn't going to sacrifice millions of people because that's a wholly selfish and cruel thing to do. Suzume's theme is self-sacrifice which displays wonderfully in the film: the West could never, and most certainly, once upon a time, Disney may have been able to write such a story, but certainly not with today's crap. Also, Disney, I'm pretty sure that's not how fish anatomy works.
I seriously think Eric is such an underrated Disney prince, and videos like this one helped me see that. Sure, he doesn’t have as MUCH personality or screen time as princes that would come after him, but he was a BIG step up from the three prior princes. Never forget this: Eric walked so Beast, Prince Naveen, and Flynn Rider could RUN.
There was also Prince Philip from "Sleeping Beauty," and he fought and killed Malificent with the help of the 3 fairies. I can't say much about Cinderella's and Snow White's princes because they didn't do much.
Guess we'll have to wait and see. I'd give the movie a watch if I weren't unwilling to give Disney my money, and I feel for Halle Bailey for receiving the brunt of the criticism. I actually think she captures Ariel's curiosity and vivacity well. But you know Disney's going to blame racism if the movie flops rather than its creative decisions.
I defiantly agree with your take on this and to say “she can’t consent cause she’s mute” Despite the whole point of that moment is them trying to get him to kiss her CAUSE SHE WANTS AND HAS TO KISS HIM is just kinda dumb that just baffling that that’s what there pulling from that moment
Literally the whole point of the curse. Barring the fact that Ariel was basically tripping over the amounts of consent she was trying to give as best she could without a voice in the original; If they wanna tiptoe through politically correct eggshells with this moment, there better not be any time limit to the curse. 3 days for a mute female character to give consent nowadays does NOT seem like a lot of time if that’s the game they wanna play - let alone with Ursula, flotsam and jetsam always lurking around every corner trying to make things more difficult for them with the already precious little time they have.
They said it's gonna be the longest running live action Disney movie. So i guess they gonna focus on how Ariel learning some martial arts to fight Ursula. Lmao
Yeah
What you're describing is "interdependence" which is basically knowing when to ask for help when you need help but not be super dependent on people and also remember to stand on your own two feet
Glad I learned about that in college and I hope more people learn about it and be okay with it
Fellow girl who has a hard time asking for help here 🙌 Totally agree
@@aurea. this is what scares me all these little girls are going to grow up, thinking that these trashy roommates are the real deal and they’re not going to know the beauty and the joy of the classics.
I hate the idea that women can’t ever be helped by a man. Everyone needs help sometimes. And perfect characters are boring regardless of gender.
"perfect characters are boring regardless of gender"
Exactly 💯
Lol 😂 Someone register this comment into a book of famous quotes. Literally this is the crux of the issue that women never need help (God forbid a man’s help). There’s no internal struggle or character development that inherently requires the help of another person. She was born perfect with her life in order. Having a prince (that she saved on her own) as a husband would just be the cherry on top of her already perfect, no-struggles-needed character/life.
Agreed
You know it’s an agenda, because they keep pushing it, despite this industry losing billions with these dumpster fires.
again the movie take an inspo from the broadway, you didnt even complain about that
@@vecna5753 I can't gripe or complain about the Broadway if I haven't seen it. I hope you're not actually defending the changes to the animation.
so dramatic and waaay of wrong. did you watch the movie? how about stop being a hater and a negative person. because you would see that the movie is not at all like you negative and hating people were praying for it to be. it's people like you that would make king triton rethink about letting ariel back on land. also no it isnt as instrumental to the story there is plenty of other things ariel and eric (and the other humans) do that are inline with their characters thtat convinces triton to let ariel live her life and be with humans. man for some one who is acting so strongly about the movie as if they actually cared about the little mermaids message (og story) and the little mermaid ariels symbolism ( the cartoon) your mentality is far off. first of the whole point is for even in the cartoon and the og story for ariel to find her own way and live her life as she wishes and not confined and controlled by her father. her getting her legs is her father letting her go because she had already proved she can take care of herself and that she will go her way no matter what and yes that she will find people who will love and support her ( her friends, eric and the kind peopel she meets on land). it;s not just not trusting humans he also doesnt trust ariel (that she is capable). also eric doesnt neet to do the killing blow to help fight ursual which he does and also attacks her. man just watch the movie and learn to not be so negative without any real info and stop feeding yourself with negative energy and emotions when there is no reason to. literally this nonsense that people were saying about the movie was so wrong any ways.
Peach was an awesome heroine. This Ariel, however…
Agree. That’s how I feel about Princess Peach. I didn’t like that they made her a girl boss in the Mario movie and it looks like they are doing the same in the Little Mermaid “Remake.”
@@SweetOrangeGirl yeah that’s fair
And Disney keeps wondering why their stock share is in the toilet right now 😒😒😒

Seeing Ariel balancing on her tail like the dolphins of Family Guy will be very "specially" hilarious 🤣Why if she can do that she would want legs?
I made a meme of what Disney characters would think if they saw their live action remakes by using the scene from the ending of the Ember Island Players episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
I love being helped by my man... just like any sane person.
I also heard Ariel sister will help her in this fight but idk if that true
Eric has a solo song in the movie I’m sure he will have a chance to shine
@@vibingwithchill676 I hope so

True. Dependence isn't good, obviously, but I'll be damned if I don't have a tendency to refuse to ask for help and then regret it. Also, in a relationship, good partners have each other's back. It's not a bad thing to show.

Even if they did, that now makes Ariel have the blood of a family member on her hands. Also isn't the message of telling a teen victim of manipulation to make up for the consequences of their actions what they call victim blaming?
You got all of that from ONE PAGE of a book? Jesus, he'll clearly help!

There's Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir too. Ladybug tries to do everything on her own, but she knows she can't. She and Cat Noir have to work as a team in order to defeat the villain of the day. They're two sides of one coin.
Another reason why Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is superior to Disney in every way. Literally had exactly what you're asking for.

Legit. He steered that ship in a strong ass whirlpool straight to Ursula and he was alone in that ship. He's DEFINITELY an experienced sailor.
The animator even kept that dinamig in that terrible sequel. Eric was able to fight the villain with his human daughter, because the merpeople were enslaved by her.
that literally have the same dynamic in the movie. why be so negative and a hater when you havent even seen it yet?
You made a great point with Mulan. The original animated movie was about anyone can do great things.
I quit watching that remake when it showed Mulan fully capable of doing anything she wanted to do, no trying and failing necessary. Like, what? Og Mulan was kind of a mess at the beginning, but she persevered and became a badass. Much better, and realistic, than what they did in the remake.

They didn't put them in to push divisive identity politics but to simply make great characters. That's what makes their weird "diversity" lie so insulting because it's clear it's not for that.

Yes. It's the antithesis to the idea of "changing your stars" from A Knight's Tale.

This curse is hopefully temporary though. The most likely reason it exists is because companies are scared to be called sexist or bigots for making weak characters, which would bring down profit. Once they realize it won't they might go back to making normal content again.
American media: ruining female characters, erasing almost all expressions of femininity, and replacing them with toxic masculine ideals since forever.
There's also the 1990 live action version of 101 dalmations(trust me it's actually good)
@@aquaticalateralis Yeah and the one time they did live-action right
You bringing the "Kiss the Girl" lyric change reminds me of the ones they'll do to "Poor Unfortunate Souls"
I think they'll change lines about how she sings that men don't like women who speak.
I preffer that ending now
There was an alternative ending in which she turned into the "daughter of air" and when she helped enough people, she will get a soul and go to heaven. Getting a soul was her main goal for turning human, since mermaids do not have souls. However she fell in love with the Prince and could not think of killing him to turn back into a mermaid.
Just because they rewrote the original source material doesn’t justify rewriting the Disney version.
A one-hand it deviates from The source material on the other hand at least its not a carbon copy
If this remake came out when I was a kid and my parents somehow convinced me to see it. ( they wouldn't have I was too in love with the original ) but if they did I would have gotten bored after the film reached the 1 hour mark & would have started asking to leave.
And that comes from the evil priest of Dio... Disney is really rotten!
@@Raximus3000 if Emerpio didn't try to stop me from achieving heaven then I could have gotten rid of Disney for you guys.
The worst part is that the film is 2 hours and 15 minutes, which means they’re adding an hour of extra content. What the hell are they gonna do with that time?
@@SweetOrangeGirl piss on the original even more probably

That is bs we would just know how much it is going to suck from the 90s! At least we have a good period.
Cinderella 2015 will remain the best live action Disney remake they have ever put out
I love that Disney pretends its old female leads were weak and useless in the story when they had more agency and stronger personalities than crybaby characters like Elsa.
Ariel saved Eric twice: when he was drowning after the storm, and when Ursula was about to kill him with the Trident.
What was wrong with him showing his love to Ariel by returning the favour at the end of the film by killing the villain?
You might want to add when with her friends she stopped the marriage between Ursula and Eric😅
Maybe Howard Ashman’s estate consented to the changes.
From what I remember of him behind the scenes, he would be quite pissed.
Lets just acknowledge that this is not The Little Mermaid. They have a different character, different songs, and a different ending. This is not the Little Mermaid.
oh but it is though
It amazes me the lengths Disney will go to hurt their brand with diminishing returns at this point. Ariel and Eric are Awesome together and Ariel's Little Mermaid shows and movies are things I've since I was a little boy who was always drawing from cartoons he watched! Thanks for covering this situation of love for Ariel's franchise ❤❤❤❤😊😊
And they still don't leatn! Idk how many flops later they are still pushing the same bs political agenda
Why does Ursula look so sympathetic
Disney relates to megalomaniacal villains.
I warmed up to him when I found out he was secretly Spider-Man.
Thwip thwip.
@@TheCrimsonElite666 They'll just say, "A wizard did it."
@@Nameless_mixes indeed, it insults both women and men. It's basically fake-feminism.
Bingo!
Please don’t hate me, but I don’t think this remake was needed at all.
You’re not alone in that! This remake should’ve never been greenlit.
None of these remakes were ever needed. They’re all forgotten about within a year or two.
Why would we hate you for saying that? You're correct, none of these remakes are needed.
@@robymammon610 I personally enjoyed the Cinderella 2015 remake, but other than that, the others that came after were unneeded.
Like you've heard them all in the past: "Belle just has stockholm syndrome", or "Ariel sold her soul to get laid!"
They couldn't even let Pinocchio make his own mistakes and learn his own lessons, he was a victim of circumstance at every turn.
Ariel WANTS to kiss Eric, but can't talk. She has friends that try to transmit that want to him, "oh no! Eric is a creep that wants to impose himself onto her!"
Sure. God forbid a man ever has a chance to show his gratitude, bravery, and how he truly cares about saving people including the girl he loves.
Eric has always been my favorite prince. He is so wholesome and has genuine character, instead of just being the “male protagonist”, he’s a lot more than that. But now they are going to massacre him 😭
it should be plain obvious by now that this current Disney executives really hate the classics that if they had the absolute power, they would pull them from every, nook and cranny and replace with this modern '' corrections or craps. it's just not about nostalgia bait, cash grabs and the '' message '' or any other scheme, is just pure spite, insanity and destruction now especially when they are fully aware (and still in denial) that their actions and results are not paying off highly.
they shouldn't even wasting resources and our time with live actions in the first place, looking more like toys to them now.
Bruh Eric spearing Ursula was so metal. Can't believe they got rid of that
Personality I'm not suprised that Ariel is going to impale Ursala.
So, in that kind of relationship, I didn't mind that she saved him and even liked that aspect in this story because of these factors:
a) They were both likable and you rooted for them.
Ariel doesn’t have legs in that scene. How is she standing on the deck of the ship?
The power of girlboss, duh!
I’m joking.
But you know Disney's going to blame racism if the movie flops rather than its creative decisions.
wait until disney plus. Wouldn't want u to waste ur money on that movie especially a 2023 live action movie.
@@catherinej615 That's the thing, I don't wish to spend money on Disney Plus either 😄
