Sierra, thank you so much for this!! As a plus size girly, I thought running was not for me. But when you started C25K, it really motivated me to try. And guess what? I just ran my first 5k today, the same day you published this video!! Thank you again so much, and congratulation for your run!
@@SierraSchultzzie I have not finished the video yet (3.5 minutes in) but I absolutely LOVE your positivity, both of you! I decided to get into running when looking at the fact that it will optimize my fitness and weight loss long term, and then I had a dream that me and my best fur baby were running around playing in a park (he passed in June, 17 long wonderful years with my baby). When I woke up and realized he never got to do that with me, I said to myself “I’m going to learn how to run a 5k and I’m going to take a fur baby with me! So, now it’s personal.
Thanks for saying how you “felt bad after” one time! As a crossfitter and Olympic weightlifter I have had those rare workouts where I don’t feel endorphins or joyful After! lol! It’s so weird but so important to acknowledge!! You are also such a wonderful inspiration!!!
I liked that too!! I also do CrossFit and oly, and every training session definitely does not feel amazing. But those tough training sessions are where the habit gets built!!
One tiny note that I have, that font that was used for the run interval times is a little difficult to read lol!! I couldn’t tell the difference between the 3 and the 5, but maybe I just need new glasses 😅😂
I am so proud of you! Thank you for sharing a realistic and safe approach to starting a running journey. So often we see those online jump from nothing to running a half marathon without proper training/injury prevention which is so dangerous for others to emulate. I really appreciate you sharing the importance of building up to longer intervals safely!!!
I started couch to 5k because of you and it has been game changing to my mental and physical health. Thank you for inspiring!!! So excited for my 5k in February!
Good on you friend! Running for 47 minutes is a bloody big achievement regardless of the distance covered. That is massive mental and physical strength unlocked! You should find a local parkrun and get along to that to keep yourself motivated and find other people who can become running buddies. Running is the best and such an inclusive sport. You're a rockstar! ❤
I second this! I’ve been doing parkrun for a little over a year now, and I starting out walking with my friends and the their dogs, and now I can run the whole thing every week without walking and I’m going towards the 30 minute mark. That community is really amazing and special and so encouraging!
These workout challenge videos of yours are definitely by far my favorite! It's just so motivating! Whenever I feel like I'm stuck, I usually watch your peleton video, so I'm glad to now have a new video to throw into the mix. It's just so refreshing to watch someone doing this whilst being kind to their body, yet you also make it look doable. I'd love many more of these videos!
Wow, Sierra, you absolutely smashed it! 🎉 Watching your journey and seeing my little app, Watch to 5K, be part of your training is an incredible feeling. Your video truly captures the highs and challenges of training for a 5K, and I’m thrilled the app helped you along the way! Huge congratulations on nailing your first 5K-wishing you all the best as you keep crushing those running goals! 🏆🏃♀
This is SUCH a beautiful way to approach movement. I recently started running again and was struggling to overcome the comparison of what I once accomplished to what I am capable of now. I loved your perspective. A celebration of what can be achieved and how it can aid our mental and physical well being. So proud of you ❤❤❤❤❤
Couch to 5k is such great program! I consider myself a runner - typically running 4 to 5 days a week. But there have been many times when life was busy and I needed to ease back in and this program was SO great. It’s so incredible that you did this!
I’ve been waiting for this video!! Mostly so I could leave a long thank you comment. I’ve always hated running and I really got into working out this year, but never running. You inspired me to go on this journey with you, and I wanted to thank you. I’ve never felt so in tune with my body before I started this. My boyfriend is an avid runner, but he had never ran a proper race before so he joined me on the race. We chose a race that landed on our two year anniversary, and it was so much fun for both of us. I was immediately emotional at the start of the race because I was so damn proud of myself. We did it!!
It's amazing how strong your body can be and yet how much our emotions can make our workouts feel terrible. Just a part of life! It shows us how much human work we still have to confront outside of our physical struggles. SO glad you gave up the gym for running outside! Even if the run is bad, looking at trees, hearing birds, noticing the sky/ weather are consolation prizes that make it feel worth it!
Thank you so much for making the distinction that this workout was about goals and not about how your body looked. That is something I get hung up on a lot and that message is so helpful!
I’m due with my first baby at the end of this year. This makes me hopeful about getting back into an exercise routine postpartum (with drs approval)! Also, shoutout to Jess for starting the program, even if she wasn’t able to finish it. She tried something new and that’s still worth celebrating
When I was in highschool, I used to have to run 5k every week. Now my stamina is non-existent as I don't exercise as regular as I should. I'm so proud of you, Sierra. You've motivated me to start exercising more and not be a couch potato. Thanks so much! 😊
This gave me joy in my heart. I’m also running post C-section, and while I was a somewhat regular runner before, it took a lot of learning to get back and accept the new body. I’m about to run my longest race ever in one month so thank you for adding a pep in my step! I strongly recommend joining a running club: you make friends and runs are more enjoyable chatting away. It’s been a tough week so thank you for bringing a bit of hope and light.
5 moments in I’m thinking: maybe I could do this! You’re so good at motivating others to just try things! You should be so proud of yourself! Loved it!! 🏃🏾🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻♂️
Great job!!! I did a couch25k plan 3 years ago after I had my daughter. I loved it so much I just kept running and I ran my first marathon this year🎉 A very slow marathon haha but I finished and I’m so happy I had that experience! The running community is so great and encouraging no matter what level you are at and that’s what I love the most about it ❤️
Feeling inspired by this 🥹 currently deep in marathon training and at the point where I know longer like running. So seeing you be so proud of yourself and kill this is inspiring! We are so lucky to be able to move our bodies and run! Great job!
Long time watcher/never commenter. I've loved watching this journey for you! I started my running journey almost 3 years ago now, and just completed my first marathon a few weeks ago. There are definitely ups and downs on the journey, but I've loved seeing you take on new/longer distances and goals!!
Girl you just made me cry. About 14 years ago I did this and that was the start of a journey that eventually led me to triathlon after two years into running I decided to learn how to swim, yes, learn. I was not a big girl yet I was 42. At age 43 I did my very first mini sprint triathlon and that was the start. I just loved it and progressed through the years to a sprint distance, Olympic, half Ironman (doing half marathons and a marathons along the way) and loving every single goal reached and feeling the positive impact this made into other aspects of my life. A month ago I went after a 9 month hard preparation for the ultimate goal for a triathlete: my very first full IM, a 2.4 mi swim followed by 112 mi bike and a marathon. I failed. I could do the swim, the bike and after 14 km of the run I pulled off, couldn’t go any further, I was crushed mentally, up to this day can’t understand what happened, physically I could have walked / jogged but mentally I just couldn’t push myself anymore. You might be thinking: and what does this have to do with me?, seeing your video made me remember the joy I once had doing what you just did, like wowww 5’ non stop running was like conquering the Everest for me at the time, and it was great. Now even after 12 hours of non stop swimming biking and running I feel so depressed because I couldn’t get to the finish line, like somewhere sometime along the road I forgot how to enjoy what I once loved and don’t know anymore how to get that back. Congrats for your achievement and thank you for sharing.
This makes me so happy!!! I also did the couch to 5k and it was life changing. I went from feeling as though I'd never be able to run for more than one minute straight to now, when I've completed 3 races including a half marathon! I'm working now towards my first full marathon, with last Sunday taking the form of a 9km run which felt alarmingly EASY. It's crazy how much you can build and how far you can get when you get in the right head space.
You did great!!! I really don't like running on treadmills, it's probably been a few years since I've been on one. It's always way easier outside because the scenery changes and you can just really be alone with your thoughts. I'm glad you're enjoying the outside runs!
This has really inspired to get back into running!! I played soccer and did cross country all throughout middle/high school and kept up with it occasionally in college, and then in my early 20s starting developing some joint/nerve pain out of nowhere when I ran and so I stopped. I’ve definitely put on weight since and every time I’ve tried to run I can physically feel how much harder it is so I get discouraged and quit. The mental toughness is what makes running the most difficult for me now. For the past few years I’ve mostly focused on strength training and low intensity steady state cardio, and lots of walking. I feel like I’m at a place where I want to make time for running again so I think I’m going to do this program!!! Congrats on all of your progress it was amazing and inspiring to watch!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! I couldn't stop smiling along with your accomplishments when watching this video. I've just started couch to 5k and I hope I can follow in your footsteps! (pardon the pun!) Thank you so much for making this video -- I can't tell you how much it means to me to see someone with a body similar to mine do so well at running. You are fantastic!!!
I’m so proud of both of you! Jess, it is so important to listen to your body. Good for you for stopping when you needed to! Sierra, your mind set on running to see what your body can do is also my favorite part of distance running! Congrats on finishing your first 5K!
You really gave me the motivation to start the couch to 5K too. I’ve been following along in the instagram group, and I’ve got my week 6 run 3 tomorrow. Thank you for pushing us!!
This made me almost cry! So proud and feel so inspired by your being motivated by being connected to your body and to prove to yourself you can do it. And I want ro get back into exercise to show my gratitude to my body for being able to exercise and I live in NYS and the seasonal depression is starting and exercise helps. Well done! Sooooo proud of you!!!❤
Ahhh I love this! Great job! This video made me feel so nostalgic because it reminded me of how I felt when I did my C25K program. Now I’m running half marathons! I hope you will continue on your running journey. It’s such a fulfilling hobby and joining groups and going to community runs are the best!! And I say that as a slower runner myself. Keep it up!
I’m running a 5k too. Today is W1 run 3. Thank you for video. I’m sorry that you had a bad run on a week 4 but it motivates me knowing that I can have a bad running day and still keep going.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!🎉 I know I don’t know you, but I feel so proud of you for all you’ve overcome and accomplished! It wasn’t easy, but your sticking with it really is inspirational. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!🙂
I have never commented on a video before but this one was so inspiring for me. I've tried the couch to 5K before but always give up at the 20 minute week. You have motivated me to try it again! Thank you!!
Congratulations! 🎉 Amazing job staying so consistent. When you posted your video announcing you'd be starting the program on August 1st you inspired me to start, too. I've tried Couch25k multiple times over the past 10 years and never finished. I'd usually quit around week 4. You motivated me to try again. I finished the program and ran my first 5k this past weekend! I still can't run 5k straight at this point and I'm slow, but I'm proud of starting and seeing it through. Thanks for being an inspiration!
Oh my gosh, congratulations! I started a very similar journey in March of this year, and then after running a 5K I decided to tackle a half marathon. You're absolutely doing great work, especially not focusing on speed but how your body feels and the run time/distance you make. You can do anything you set your mind to, and I hope you keep running.
Amazing work! I loved this video so much! I used to be a half marathon runner but sustained some severe injuries and I also ran in an unhealthy way that is no longer sustainable for my health. But I’ve been working on healing and being kinder to myself these past 5 years and just achieved my goal of being able to walk a 5k so now I want to start the couch to 5k journey. I have to amp myself up not to overdo like I used to and seeing how you balanced challenging yourself with grace and kindness is such an inspiration. I will do the same. Thank you for your example. ❤
So glad I watched this video! After a rough break up I impulsively signed up for a 5k run/walk, and because it took away the pressure of needing to run the whole time, it was the first time I ever enjoyed running in my life (I’m sure it being a pride event on a nice trail helped too ofc). Now 5 months later I’ve done another 5k run/walk, and I have a month to go before I run a 10k. I’ve been trailing off on training and losing motivation to keep going, and this really helped me reset and reminded me of all the reasons I enjoy this now. Thanks so much for posting!!
You're amazing ❤. Congratulations. I recently went on my first ever 2,5km run event. But not for me but for my grandma who at 70 decided she wanted to run it. And I wanted to support her in this. So even though we mostly walked it, I was very proud of her and happy we got to experience it together. The training for it also taught me that I don't actually hate running. I just always hated running in school in pe classes because everyone was judging the performance. But when I ran for fun it actually was fun 😂
I was so excited for this video - so so fun to watch and follow along with your progress! How cool! One note is just that it was hard to read the timestamps in the corners, and for someone with low vision it would have been nice to have a bit of narration during the runs just so people know what’s happening in the clip for accessibility purposes. But overall just such a fun video!
Absolutely loved this. I am a slow runner too, and I loved how you kept going I've not run for ages, cause my confidence isn't high atm, but you know what I think I might tomorrow now :) thankyou lovely lady and best of luck in your running journey ❤🎉
I watched this while doing my week 5 run 1! Thanks for being my running buddy for this one and helping inspire us postpartum moms to get out there and make our babies proud!!
I started the program with you and Lovvved it! I am certainly not a runner. The endorphins you get from running are out of this world and I am someone who regularly exercises otherwise.
So happy to see this video! I shared with you in your DMs on insta (I suggested the broadcast channel!) that a 5k was on my vision board. I felt so inadequate and that inadequacy led me not to try. Untilllll you decided to do the couch 2 5k program! I am happy to report I can now go for 30 minutes NONSTOP and I am sooo proud of what my body can do. I need a lil more training to hit the 3.1 miles, but I think I may go ahead and sign up for a 5k to give myself that last push. THANK YOU SO MUCH for being my running “buddy” throughout the 9 (10) weeks. It really helped to keep me going! 🏃♀️💜
HELL YEAHHHH!!! Just wanted to say that the font in this video is really hard to read and if I wasn't in the middle of my own watch to 5k journey I'd have no clue what each week was actually meant to be. I'm so close to finishing and it's been so motivating to watch your journey!
When I was watching you run at the gym I was thinking wow! She likes running at the gym and she’s doing so well, I hate and super struggle running on a treadmill. Then you followed it up with how you were actually feeling during that run at the gym and I was like yessssss, so real. I appreciate your honesty and I feel inspired to try running again. Thanks for documenting your journey!
This is how I started, too! And then I just never stopped, despite the struggle it has been at times, especially at the beginning. It’s still surreal that I ran a half marathon last month when in July 2023, I barely made it through the 1 minute intervals. Incredible what is possible when you stay consistent and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me
So proud of you!! I ran my first 5k in June and it was such a confidence boost to what my body is capable of. I ran another in October with less preparation and had a blast. I never got to the point of running longer than 5 mins, so I just did intervals the whole time. If anyone thinks they can’t run a 5k if they walk most of it, please know you can!!! Most people do.
What a feat! It’s was so cool to see how your pace increased running along side your bother. You should consider doing more partner runs. Happy for you!
Congratulations Sierra!!! I don't know why I started tearing up seeing you finish the 5K. My 5K is coming up in 2 weeks and I am still at the 23 minute mark. I hope I can finish it running too 😃
I feel like what's making this motivational for me is the fact that you aren't focusing on losing weight. I've struggled with being underweight my entire life basically and I'm now at the highest weight I've ever been. Most times when i see people talk about running, they're talking about losing weight and it makes me feel like running isn't something i can do unless i want to lose. I'm slowly working mentally towards working out. I have access to a gym at my job and my roommate also has a gym at his work that I'm allowed to use so trying to get to a point where im comfortable enough to use them.
You really inspired me to try and do this as I’ve often THOUGHT about it. I hate running. I always have. I’ve sat back and thought about how at school we aren’t ’taught’ how to run, but you’d never throw a kid in a pool and expect them to swim (I can swim far far better than I run!) And so I started and today, I’ve just run for 28 minutes!! Can’t believe it. I still hate running, but I love how it is making me feel afterwards!
Massive well done! Don't worry about times. You'll gradually get faster, but it takes time to get there. I think the most important thing is to enjoy it, which for me means slowing down.
This is such an amazing and inspiring video!! Could you do a video of like your go to for running? Like shoes? Or tips and tricks that you learned while doing this??
Before Covid I was able to run a half marathon since Covid I gained 50lbs and can’t run anymore I miss running but it’s hard with the weight gain watching you do this makes me believe I can try again

I know I'm just some random person on the internet, but I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!! You are so inspirational and I was routing for you the whole way 🏃♀
You really achieved two big things, completing the couch to 5k program, and then doing the 5k!!!! You are truly amazing Sierra!!!
aw this made me cry at the end, how wholesome, congratulations 🤗
Keep it up!
Watching you guys discover how much you like to run is literally the reason I do the job I do
Ohhh I’ve been waiting for this one 💗✨ so proud of you!
I’m running a 5k too. Today is W1 run 3. Thank you for video. I’m sorry that you had a bad run on a week 4 but it motivates me knowing that I can have a bad running day and still keep going.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!🎉
I know I don’t know you, but I feel so proud of you for all you’ve overcome and accomplished!
Wow!!!! This video is awesome- seeing you talk about running has inspired me to get back into exercise ❤ so proud of you sierra you’re incredible!!!
So inspiring to see you push and run the whole 5k!! Couldn’t be more proud!❤️
I am a slow runner too, and I loved how you kept going I've not run for ages, cause my confidence isn't high atm, but you know what I think I might tomorrow now :) thankyou lovely lady and best of luck in your running journey
❤🎉
I watched this while doing my week 5 run 1! Thanks for being my running buddy for this one and helping inspire us postpartum moms to get out there and make our babies proud!!
I started the program with you and Lovvved it! I am certainly not a runner. The endorphins you get from running are out of this world and I am someone who regularly exercises otherwise.
So proud of both of you!! You crushed it! Also, Sierra's eyes REALLY pop in that greenish blue bra and headband set 😍
These are my favorite kind of videos you make! Way to go Sierra!!
You did so well! i think everyone's most dreaded exercise is running, so this is such an accomplishment
Congratulations Sierra! You put in so much effort and you made it happen 😊❤🎉
Sierras skin is so beautiful im in awe
I’m so proud of you. Such an inspiration
Watched this while running 🏃🏻♀️ Congrats Sierra! So glad you ended up loving running so much 💕
Im about to start couch to 5k after seeing you talk about it on Instagram. I’m excited to see what my body can do. You’re awesome!!
"I think I might actually be able to do this..." is the most magical thing we learn from running. Thank you for capturing it, and congratulations!!!
Way to go! This was super motivating and encouraging as a mom going through postpartum, too. Thank you for sharing your journey!
This is awesome! Congrats on your progress and making it through the whole 5k without stopping! 🎉
So proud of you! It made me a little emotional at the end to see you so proud 🥹 you did amazing
What a feat! It’s was so cool to see how your pace increased running along side your bother. You should consider doing more partner runs. Happy for you!
I needed to see such a positive video today. I’m so happy you celebrated yourself in this way and accomplished your goal. Proud of you!
You go girl!!!❤❤❤
I’m so proud of you for setting a goal and doing the darn thing!!❤
Congratulations Sierra!!! I don't know why I started tearing up seeing you finish the 5K. My 5K is coming up in 2 weeks and I am still at the 23 minute mark. I hope I can finish it running too 😃
Congrats Sierra 🎉 so proud of you for pushing through 👏
So cool that you tried this, can’t wait to hear the story!
You did amazing, girl! So proud of you ❤❤❤
As someone who truly feels they cannot run you’ve convinced me to try! Very inspiring and happy for you! 🏃♀️
I am soo proud of you! I know I'm a stranger on the internet but man what am avcomplment. You are such a good role model for all girl and your girls!
You really inspired me to try and do this as I’ve often THOUGHT about it.
I hate running. I always have.
I’ve sat back and thought about how at school we aren’t ’taught’ how to run, but you’d never throw a kid in a pool and expect them to swim (I can swim far far better than I run!)
And so I started and today, I’ve just run for 28 minutes!! Can’t believe it. I still hate running, but I love how it is making me feel afterwards!
Finishing up my own run to this video when your running journey inspired my own is perfect full circle 🎉
You gave me motivation! I’m in Canada so running outside is not an option right now! But I’ll get my steps in! I want a better future for myself! ❤
47 minutes was my first 5k time as well!! You go girl!! You are making me want to get back into running
So proud of you and anyone who has done this ❤
Massive well done! Don't worry about times. You'll gradually get faster, but it takes time to get there. I think the most important thing is to enjoy it, which for me means slowing down.
I loved this video so much!!!!! I love seeing other people take on challenges in a way that respects and cares for themselves.
