Sweet 60s vintage Monogram Mercedes kit!!
It's a Great kit!!! Love old school Monogram kits!!!!! I'll be watching
Love it when you young guys discover the fabulous old kits we were building as 10 yr olds...this was first issued in 1963 along with the other full classics in the instructions. I built all of them except the Duesenberg Town Car. Enjoy!
Those instructions are Epic! Monogram really paid a lot of attention to detail and helped the builder greatly.
I built the beer wagon twice - once a kid and then an adult. What a great kit.
Very cool!!
Very nice kit sir. The instructions is a nice addition. wish they did that will all kits. Enjoy the build brother.
Thanks
Great video. It looks like a great kit and should be a very enjoyable build. Thanks for sharing.
👍🏻👍🏻
Love the B&W catalog with those 1966 pricing. The molded red plastic is beautiful to just clearcoat. Have fun with the build.🙂👍
Thanks David!!
Love the old kits and the Instructions were cool to see!
Oh my gosh - look at those directions. This was such a serious business then with true professionals doing a great job. Glory days. 🇺🇸
For sure!!
Very intricate instructions!!
Very neat vintage kit! I love those instructions! You don't see them like that anymore. Looking forward to seeing it built! Happy Anniversary!
Hot dogs?? LOL! I think you will love building this kit! Those classic Monogram kits are so nice. The parts are pretty robust compared to the Johan Mercedes, which are pretty delicate. If you are missing any parts, let me know,I have a parts kit! Detail the crap outta this and you will love it!
👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks Billy!!
This kit originally came out in 1963. Yours is a 1966 reissue. Monogram brought back their classic car line in the 1970's and again in the 1990's. Monogram's classics were really great kits, especially for the time. They seem to have been targeted more at the adult builder (hence the instructions). Looks like it'll be a fun build!
Very cool!! Thanks!!
I would be willing to bet that kit is older than you! Great looking model, I bet it will be an enjoyable and memorable build.
I think it is!! Lol
Cool old kit and I do love the old one and yes they were meant to be build. Thanks for the video. 🙂Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist
Very well detailed kit!!
I have good memories of the Bugatti kit, great offering from Monogram.
👍🏻👍🏻
That's a fascinating instruction sheet! And apart from some of Tamiya's kits where there are photos of the more complicated sub assemblies, I don't think I've ever seen a full sheet showing the assembled parts. Look forward to seeing how it goes together.
Happy Anniversary Matt and Ms. Heather 🍾🥂🎉❤
Thanks Jim!!
Cool looking kit, and Happy Anniversary to you both Matthew............The Bearded Guy
Thanks Jeff!!
Very cool kit!
Sweet 68 Monogram catalog too!!
👍🏻👍🏻
Great looking kit Matt, the instructions are great very detailed. I got a beer wagon in my stash. Thanks for sharing and Happy Anniversary and congratulations.
Thanks Cliff!
Nice, I was going to mention the Mercedes next after the Heller build, which looked fantastic by the way. 🏎
Thanks Gary!!
You know Matt if Round 2 would print directions like that then maybe more people would get back into the hobby and make models more available pricewise for younger builders. And Happy Anniversary.
Thanks Thomas!!
Very cool kit. I still have the Monogram Duesenberg Kit #PC -185 sealed in the box from 1968. It looks like it came out yesterday, that's how mint this kit is. Although I don't think its worth very much. Can't wait to see you M/B built..
You'll like this! Builds up really easy and looks nice when finished. Whoever was the model designer didn't do their research, because the trunk/ tail is incorrect prototypically.
Had started that kit back in the 80's and warped the interior by using a desk lamp to speed up the oil paint I used to simulate leather upholstery. Got another interior from a friend. My kit had a hard roof and if you look at your clear glass parts you will have 2 back windows but need only one for the soft roof. My kit body was molded in maroon coloured plastic. Looking forward to your build..........mine is stashed in the stash somewhere........
👍🏻👍🏻
Cool kit and I love building off the wall kits and I have the original Rolls Royse
Cool video. Amazing what you could buy for $2 back in the day! Thanks for sharing Matt! 😎🇨🇦
Thanks Peter!!
I picked up the johan kit after i saw your video, now im going to have to find this one. You are not helping my bank account..lol..🤣
Lol!!
Hay matt the Red Baron kit has the Pontiac over head cam six in it
Look forward to that built, but time for a top fuel funny car? Let's go!.
Congrats on your anniversary!
Yeah those old 60s Monogram instructions! The Lil Coffin and Boot Hill Express are very similar. Photos likely shot in black and white for clarity reasons then enhanced with super red ink during the printing process using a color plate in addition to a black and white one
THAT's the kit I've mentioned a couple times, first issued in '63. First kit I ever built (my dad built it, of course) and it is an awesome kit. When I started building again it was, again, my first kit. The body doesn't need painted; the plastic really is that good. Just clear it and call it done.
👍🏻👍🏻
That's a nice looking model. Monogram did a really good job back in 1966. I had to go back and look at the catalog you showed to see they really were $3.00 back then when many other models were just $2.00. Three bucks would be worth over $27 today while a $2 model would cost over $18 in today's money. Looking forward to seeing this one get built!
Very cool!!
Nice model Matthew, that’ll make a nice hot rod 😂
Inagine if you could buy that cool Beer Wagon for two bucks today 😅
I'd like to find one!!
@@modelcarvideos5829 well, maybe one day.... Who knows 😁
I have a old build of the car from a old timer it's a glue boom, he gave me a few but one is pretty decent it's a old monogram 36 ford roadster, but the tires are starting to melt the wheels. I looked at the for hours trying to think what they are thinking
Ps the glue boom I think it's the pyro Cor
Cool story!!
I have the same kit paid about 25 for it. 15 seems like a great deal
I'm guessing the word you're looking for is Landau Bars? I'm curious if this is related to the Monogram Museum Pieces series? I LOVE those.
👍🏻👍🏻
Ironically about 3 grand worth of show rod kits in that catalog,at least 300 for that Uncertain T kit alone
Uncertain t 2.00 right wow
Interesting that this car is a 3 seater.....
