I am getting back into the hobby after about 30 years away. I am amazed with the products available today and this video is going to become my mentor/guide for all my future endeavours - I don't know how you know/learn all these techniques but they truly are excellent and so much help for us newbies. Thanks for sharing
Congratulations! Normally these 1/12 Italeri classic cars look as if they had just left the factory. Your model is completely realistic due to its wear and tear and the passage of time. Spectacular!!!
Okay, first off you deserve so many more subscribers. This was probably the best "How I did it" video I've seen for a model builder. Most guys put on the "go-sleepy-by" music and you just see them do something, no idea what they're using, what they're doing. You, you have descriptions at the top for the products you're using, you describe (in detail) what you're doing, the steps you're taking, heck even why you did something a certain way. So much information. In my youth this is what a teacher did for classes!! Only down side and this is clearly not your doing, I would really like to understand RUclipss algorithms for ads. I think 13 ads in a 46 minute video (one every 3.5 minutes!!) is WAY excessive. But for the information I gleaned from this and honestly to see a box of plastic turn into a better than museum quality model, I suffered through ads for Progressive Insurance, Arby's and VRBO (NONE of which I would EVER dream of using!). Dude. I know a few really good model builders and this was amazing to watch...simply amazing!!!!
Oddly, I suffered no ads in Canada either, and YT videos here usually so peppered with ads that I tend to give up in frustration and quit watching partway through. Not that I’m complaining, I thoroughly enjoyed the novelty of the experience. Outstanding tutorial! For having ‘never built a car model”, you certainly turned out a winner with this. Absolutely beautiful build.
@@rafezetter8003 lol - Yes, the U.S. is ad crazy. That's why most of us use Ad Blocker! Its a free app for most browsers. I use Edge and FireFox. Works great!
@@rafezetter8003 If a channel chooses not to monetize a video, then you won't see ads. It's nothing to do with the country viewed or who/where uploaded from.
A couple of ml. of fuel in the tank and I am sure your Bugatti would drive away. Your work is of the highest standard, thank you for making this video so that lesser mortals like me know our place.
It is a wonderful thing that all Bugatti cars have models made after them. Another wonderful thing about any Bugatti, is that all of them are collectors items. If you find one in a barn, do not let it go.
As a "dabbler" over thr years , im blown away by the level of attention to detail you bring to your builds!! I would love to see #2 car build be the Airfix 1/12 Bentley 4½ litre.... my old man built one one when i was a kid but thats was a "as was" out of the box job. So glad i stumbled onto your channel , the mix of your skill level , quality filming , precise narrative and subtle background music works so well.
Love what you've done there. I happen to know one of the foremost bodywork creators and restorers in the World and he should see this. Despite their priceless nature, the majority of surviving cars are multi generation owned and used/abused as originally intended. They do get thrashed and trashed and and crashed, have been for the best part of 90 years. Great job and thanks for showing as the real ones should look. Forget the museum beauties and trailer queens.
The real one has been a favorite for me since very long time. When I saw this video I got a feeling of really driving it like it should be driven. It is not a piece of metal to store behind locked doors. It is a living thing that should be on the road. Thanks for starting my dreams again
I once had the pleasure of to share a small racetrack with one of these. The track was anneau du Rhin near Freiburg/ Germany and we were two 964s and a lady related to the track somehow with a friend. Once they were done, they left the car outside near the workshop to cool down. It was also in a well used condition. Lots of nickel plated parts actually and lots of the metal parts - including the cylinder heads - had the circular brush pattern… your version is a bit more worn and dirty, but it’s really very close and looks wonderful !!
Fantastic video .. your painting and weathering skills are amazing .. and I can testify how life like this Bugatti model is as a week ago today I came across three real examples sat on the forecourt of my hotel (The Abbey) in Great Malvern, Worcestershire… they were on tour & owners had stopped off for breakfast at the hotel! Thank you for posting this video.
An excellent video clip. It’s always a challenge to apply weathering which doesn’t look too heavily overdone, or faded bodywork paint which doesn’t look like it had had an accident in a flour mill. I like your paint and weathering techniques very much and this video has provided enough inspiration for me to seriously consider getting the 35B kit. Thank you for creating such an enjoyable video.
I love the method you use for getting and keeping my interest. The detailed explanations and the products used as well as the lighting, the music and your voice just captured me. This is definitely a museum quality build. I learned so much in the time of this video than I could have imagined. Really well done. Well thought out and beautifully produced. Excellent video. Incredible work. Thank you!
I'm impressed. Simple tricks, but so effective to get that heavy weathering effects. Excellent work on this kit, thumb up. I'm a Gunpla kit builder and modeler, I use to paint them completely with my own color schemes, but weathering a kit is the next step for me. And I'm a bit "scared" about it, I would not want to go to far and too "heavy", and ruin it completely (after a long and carefully applied paint job). Such a video as yours is full of good techniques, tips and tricks, and will help me make the step further. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and excellent work. Big up for the editing and camera positions, we really can follow and clearly see the whole process. Excellent. Subscribed.
I thought this was another one of those videos where they restore old model cars. Was pleasantly surprised to find that its exactly the opposite. You went and weathered a new model. It looks so much cooler with that rustic look 👏🏼
This was so much more about the painting and finishing effects than the usual fitting of parts that one would associate with model building. Even the leaves were in perfect scale and the fact that the builder restored cars in his past really showed on this beautiful Bugatti example. Bravo sir!
Awesome build. Seeing a large scale older car like that was pretty cool. I always end up removing that crappy chrome plating car kits come with too. An ammonia bath for a little while makes it come right off with a little scrubbing from a toothbrush. I've never had much luck getting paint to stick to it correctly even after sanding.
I'm moved to say....'e Michelangelo, you missa a bit! But you didn't, did you....Maestro.... Thank you for posting. I never tire of watching Great Art being performed.
Hello Andy, great job explaining and demonstrating your artwork. I will be studying your techniques on my build, although not on this particular car. I am an old model builder getting back into the hobby now that I am retired. However, I never attained the skill level I have witnessed in this video, I never met someone with your skill sets as well. Back in 1968 I was buying my models from a discount store called K-MART. Car models back then cost only $1.25, sadly these same models now cost upwards of $24.00 a box. One day I went to buy my next project and was surprised to find wooden skids stacked with 1/8 scale Pocher models selling for $25.00 each. I purchased two a 1931 Alfa Romeo 2300 Monza and a 1909 Fiat. I bought these models for the sole purpose of building them when I have retired. They have been sitting in my closet for over 50 years. I have just started working on the Alfa this week when I came across this video. What you have demonstrated to me was that a model could look so much more dynamic than a finished product. What your depiction of this car says to me is, I have stories to tell you. Whereas a sparkling new car without the scuffs and dings only is an object to admire at best. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. I eagerly look forward to viewing your portfolio in these videos.
What a great and awesome finish. Your step by step descriptions are clear and helpful and have inspired me to try and ascertain this old and worn look on my Fiat Mefistofele kit. Thank you
Gday Andy, I've just stumbled across your RUclips channel because of this Bugatti build. This is wonderful work mate and I'm also pleased to see you have a supply's shop. Always good to find shops that sell what they use themselves and your in the UK.😎 cheers Tony
Very good presentation looks like it would appear when driven back in the 50"s , I have the CMC GmbH die cast that looks factory new and your finished model model looks just as it was years ago right off the track now i know how to finish my Kingfisher Models 1:48th scale Foden S 21 so it will look like it was when i used to drive it before i came to the USA Thank you Ed 40 S of Vegas
Always wanted to see a full build of one of these big scale vintage racing cars. I see you've put the weathering skills you apply to the aircraft you normally do to great use here. Impressive! Driven hard and put away wet is how I think you'd describe this car.
Absolutely gorgeous. That Bugatti model kit is amazingly detailed and spectacularly real looking. Since a Bugatti Type 35B in "scale 1/1" - I mean the real one - is priceless in original condition (the replicas are also very expensive), this 1/12 is the most interesting alternative to own a Bugatti. Well done, this is a piece of art.
Please do more car models, this was fascinating watching you do the oil stains, weathering, and body damage. I don't think I'll ever do a clean model again
I enjoyed that! I am restoring classic cars - so doing actually quite the opposite. But I have always thought of de-restoring a car and produce exactly this type of appearance. For technical reasons most cars need to be rebuilt, but giving them them back some years - very tempting!
Superb! I've previously watched your aircraft videos to gain some ideas, but I am actually a model car enthusiast. I have three classic Tamiya 1/12 formula 1 cars to build and this video has been so helpful. I love the fact that you keep no secrets and list all the products used. You sir, are extremely talented and generous in sharing your skills. Thanks very much.

I think that's the USA, they are ad crazy - I watched this in the UK - ZERO ADS and I'm not a YT subscription payer either.
Oddly, I suffered no ads in Canada either, and YT videos here usually so peppered with ads that I tend to give up in frustration and quit watching partway through. Not that I’m complaining, I thoroughly enjoyed the novelty of the experience.

From the USA, I say, Outstanding Work !!
Absolument superbe, un régal pour les amateurs de modèles réduits, une vraie leçon !

This is how the venerable 35B should look like. Loved, raced, not coddled. Love your work on the French Racing Blue / Bugatti Blue.
wow. you nailed the aging process. Spectacular.

First car? Bloody hell, that was good going! The result is amazing!

A lot of applause from Italy...incredible final results!!!

This job is so fabulous I've watched this video three times already. And it won't be nearly the last time.
This is more art than modelling. Simply stunning.
Very few people have an eye for detail, very impressive!
Aaaaaaamazing!!! Please more Cars.
Not really a model more a tiny real car. Incredible work, love it.
Your painting skills ... WOW WOW WOW!!!
ONLY TWO WORDS, FOR THIS MODEL, AND VIDEO, TRULY AMAZING. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR NEXT PROJECT
Absolutely stunning final result. Looks ready to drive away.

Oh my goodness. What a variety of details. Aging, pollution. Everything at the highest level. 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼

Congrats, Andy ! As a french modeler, I'd like to write here that you're a wonderfull example of the British spirit in modelling ! 😉👍
Saying amazing is like just saying nothing. Your skills are truly exceptional and deserve of more praise than a single word could provide!
Top shelf work - no one would suspect that was your first car model. Very enjoyable program -- thanks.
This is exactly the treatment I intend for my Bugatti kit, but having seen yours, I know I can never come near your level of expertise. Superb.
That’s insane, I wish I had 10% of your patience
When modeling becames Art. Congrats!
Brilliant! What craftsmanship. You are a credit to the hobby. I very much enjoyed watching that.
Such talent you make it look easy. Incredible realism. Thank you for sharing your skills. Your accented voice doesn’t hurt either 😅.
Not only exceptional workmanship, but exceptional instruction as well. Thank you.

Great build. I loved the addition of the leaves!
i think your best painting job ever Awesome Job!!
Great video of a really great build which incidentally looked even better in the flesh when I visited your amazing shop on Saturday.
I love the weathering effects you created. Great job

a masterpiece....not recognizable that it is not from metal made! Outstanding!
Fantastic! The overall effect is a convincing snapshot of how the car would have looked when it was used for its intended purpose.
the thumbnail fooled me. I only noticed it was a model after clicking the video! great work!
I think large scale model cars are always satisfying to build and to view when built.
INCREDIBLE! So much good stuff on RUclips!
Mind boggling details. I half expected you to fire up the engine 😮

Wow, this came up as a recommendation as I've watched Plasmo and others before. New subscriber gained, now I have to binge watch...

Wow that was an inspiration, I too haven't built a vintage automobile, I'm saving for their Alfa Romeo
Always wanted to see a full build of one of these big scale vintage racing cars. I see you've put the weathering skills you apply to the aircraft you normally do to great use here. Impressive! Driven hard and put away wet is how I think you'd describe this car.
Well done, this is a work of art. The attention to detail is amazing.
It's always a treat when you come out with a new video! Your models look stunning!
This isn't model making, it's art
Andy, Just beautiful & technically, expertly executed. Well done!
Non ho parole per descrivere quanto sei bravo! Semplicemente spettacolare! 👨🏻🎨
Your knowledge and skill are mesmerizing.
Best car model I have ever seen... a great subject!
Simplemente, soberbia construcción. Espectacular en todos los aspectos.
Admires the attention to detail. Ultra-realistic!
Your first model? What! Man you've got some great technics for a beginner - Love the weathering, much better than all shiny and new. Fantastic job!
He meant his first car build. I believe he's an aircraft modeller.

Thanks very much.
superbe réalisation, hyper réaliste. Bravo !
Excellent build and weathering, the build is amazing a true work of art.👍
Superb attention to detail, great look. (you missed a spot, *chuckling*)
Cool to see this kit made weathered a bit, instead of brand new and clean ✨ Awesome build 💥 👍💥
You sir are exceptional, got check on your other builds!
I have the Mephistphole and was thinking post race. This video seals the deal.
Well done indeed Sir!
Very nice build and slightly unorthodox technique
That's a very nice build. You should definitely build more cars
Wow, very impressive work!
Great stuff. I’d been thinking that the radiator hoop should be nickel but I wasn’t sure how to realise it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Who made the bottles, those are AWESOME!!!!!! THIS IS AN AMZING DIARAMA!!!!!!!!!
fantastic build, great weathering and super tutorial!! Thank you!!
Amazing piece of work but you make it look so easy , just fantastic
Incredible barn find!!
Utterly amazing work and truly authentic in detail and weathering. straight AAAs for this.
One word….WOW!
Absolutely outstanding work!!! Awesome!!! Grettings from Germany! The greybearded Toolmaker
