    Hello,
Never start /stop painting while on the model... START spraying then move the nozzle across the model while spraying then STOP spraying when past the model....
Nice clean spray stokes on the entire length of the area being painted

Hey, Steve. One piece of input I'd like to offer as a newbie so far is that you don not leave out the part about how long you allow each layer to dry for. That's information is not trivial at all.

This is a good example of why "orange peel" isn't such a big deal. Some people go to painstaking lengths to avoid that slightly textured finish you can see catching the light but it doesn't really bother me that much.
To avoid it you need to spray so close that the paint begins to pool but not so much that it stays pooled! The other way is to keep sanding each coat to smooth it out then use a gloss top coat. It's a lot of extra work though.
Most of the time, I just spray from a little further back and deal with that slightly textured finish, I think it looks good anyway and apparently so do you!
It's one of those subjective things, some people say "ooohhh that's a nice finish" and then other people are like "omg nooooo you have murdered that body shell, it's a crime against humanity!!!"
Even the term orange peel is subjective, I believe true orange peel is more of a smooth dimpled look to the surface, often seen on full size automobiles too. The grainy effect seen here is a different phenomenon but seems to get called the same thing.

This came out beautifully. Can I ask a question? So im trying to paint my hard body but everytime i use the tamiya masking tape to make the lines so I can paint the other side a different color when I take the tape off it leaves a streak of residue that makes me have to start all over and sand it and paint again but all I will be doing is going is circles. My question is if I leave the residue will this clear coat cover it and make is vanish? Or do you have a suggestion to get rid of the residue? Before you suggest some products I did some researching and I tried Wd40, Water, Goo Gone and using more tape to stick it and bring it up but none of these work. Thanks for any help

What would happen if you didn't use a primer? would the color come out different and woud it be in a bad way? Just curious never painted anything before. Have a tamiya grasshopper kit i was thinking bout putting togther and painting.

+Larry Carroll the paint will stick better to the primer. You could paint directly over without using primer but you can run the risk of the paint pealing off.

Hey! You did one coat of primer but what about basecoat and did you sand it between coats? What about clear coat?

Hello, I did one coat of primer and Mica red. I didn't sand it in between coats as I was happy with the finish. Once I finish with all the decals then I will apply the clear coat.

+RC Tanks & Trucks 24/7 Thank you for sharing this nice instructive and to the point video!
Getting all the stickers and decals in place, requires a lot of handling with fingerprints everywhere, do you wipe off with a cloth and some degreasing chemical before applying the clear coat?
      Cheers.

Well I've just started painting models myself, and in my experience, the primer gives the paint something to adhere to. Painting on its own can work, but it can also leave swirls and uneven areas depending on the surface. I'm going to go out and get some primer tomorrow and see if it helps.
