    The one thing I always remind everyone when they’re tempted to experiment with hair: it grows back. If you regret it, it’ll grow back!

    • @dogables
      @dogables 3 года назад +12

      It really depends on your situation. I've thin hair and it grows extremely slowly. I used to have pretty long hair. Still haven't gotten my hair to grow that length again.

    • @labornurse
      @labornurse 3 года назад +6

      @@dogables yes, that is me as well. I had waist length at age 29. Chopped it off at 30. It's fine textured, naturally medium blonde. It never has been able to grow past upper bra strap since. Splits and breaks off. I'll be 45 soon.

    • @faith2876
      @faith2876 3 года назад +6

      Truth but it takes aaaaaages. At 3.5 years post buzz cut I've just hit waist length and I have the benefit of an extremely short torso. IMO "just experiment" when it comes to long hair only works if your dislike of your hair outweighs the dislike of change, you have a realistic appraisal of how long it takes to grow back, and have been thinking about it for a long while.
      Especially if you're used to having hair a certain way, I've seen a lot of regret sentiments from people who haven't thought it through.

I was miserable knowing Monday i had to get back on “track” . Always eating 5 times a day even when not hungry, just because i had to keep a schedule. Over exercising and always tired. Now I feel alive. Im really focusing on my hunger cues, and eating patterns. Im learning about appetite before and during menstruation and really understanding who i am and my needs. I cannot go back to diet culture. I see why there are so many people struggling with food.

    What makes me sad is how self conscious she was when she was at a higher weight and how happy she sounds now. It just shows she didn't accept herself at a higher weight and that is the problem with our society. Food freedom just seems to be okay for thin people, it's so sad the way she talks about her thighs, trying old clothes etc. Don't think she realises how bad this affect people who actually are that size

    • @its_jadejanet
      @its_jadejanet 3 года назад +79

      In previous videos she has discussed how at her larger size she felt very sick and bloated. That will lower the self esteem if you feel like that. Also, she wasn't used to being that size. She is showing us her journey and how it effected her in every way (short term and long term), naturally I think a lot of people can relate to her if they have fluctuated in weight.

    • @banjohole

      Society is not to blame, we are society. The harsh reality is nobody is happy at a higher weight and it’s human nature to always want to improve yourself and be your best- that applies to our looks and body too.

    • @teadora99
      @teadora99 3 года назад +75

      You're thinking too much into it. She used to be a very muscly woman as she did body building, anyone that goes from being very muscular and fit to becoming larger through food alone would feel like that. It was also her just feeling generally unwell due to her bloating and having never been that size before. You can't just look at someone and say oh thats a bad way of thinking just because it doesn't take into account how other people may feel. She's being true to herself, and she is at a much larger size than she used to be and is very happy. There's nothing negative about her journey, you're just making it that way, unfairly.

      Food freedom is okay for EVERYONE! And please don’t feel bad about your body. You have an amazing body that works very hard to keep you healthy and safe. With that said, most people want to be healthy and feel good which usually requires a healthy weight. I don’t know if this helps but something I’ve always noticed about intuitive eaters that are thin and intuitive eaters that have a bit more weight on them is their fruit and vegetable consumption. Many nutritionist are intuitive eaters and have a very healthy weight. Stephanie knew a lot about nutrition and had trained her body to crave healthy food as well as fun foods. If your body is nutritionally starving you will usually always carry around extra weight because your body has to eat more calories to get it’s needs. Add in the healthy foods with the fun foods, drink lots of water, sleep deeply, find physical activity you actually enjoy, dress the beautiful body you have, and start focusing on what makes you happy rather than your weight. You will be SHOCKED at how your body shines! Best wishes!

      I agree, although I feel skeptical of this being real in all honesty everybody is truly different and she could be the one who is different from 1 million other women and this could be 100% real. It just doesn’t sit right with me all that I have ever learned is “ the more you eat the more weight you put on, the less you eat the more you lose” so seeing this doesn’t sound right but again, she could be 100% that one in however many. Never reject the idea of one person being that crazy one that can get away with something that isn’t normal lol anywho I do believe younger viewers need to be told this probably won’t work for them. People are gullible and like to self diagnose…. Stephanie is very educated in this stuff

    • @stephaniec.6636
      @stephaniec.6636 3 года назад +9

      @@shell7142 I agree. I have been a long-time follower of Stephanie and really appreciated her for her science-based fitness content. However, recently I've begun to question her transparency regarding the drastic weight gain/loss. I embarked on a very similar journey myself long before Stephanie went all-in, and while I did lose a bit of the overshoot weight naturally--as my appetite decreased--it took much longer than two years of conscious effort and portion control to get back down to a healthier weight that was closer to where I started. If she truly has no appetite and that is why she's become so thin again, then that's fine, but addressing the concern would definitely help placate the more skeptical members of her audience. Plus, like I mentioned before, more impressionable viewers would at least be informed that this approach is not a cure-all nor a one-way ticket to their dream bodies (which almost *always* takes a more effortful approach, diet, and exercise). You can certainly improve your physique in a healthy manner, but maintaining that physique while intuitive eating usually only works for people who have extensive experience counting calories, tracking macros, or focusing on nutrition in general as they have a better intuition for foods and portion sizes that will help them reach their goals. I would not be surprised if Stephanie has been monitoring her intake at least a little bit based on her experience with tracking, etc., and it's important to be transparent about that. There's a big difference between eating whatever you want whenever you want--which is what she claims to do--and eating what you know to be healthy, satiating, low-calorie, and indulging occasionally to obtain a leaner physique "naturally."

    • @shell7142
      @shell7142 3 года назад +4

      @@stephaniec.6636 I agree with you as well. I believe Steph has mentioned certain things like speaking to a doctor or a nutritionist in past videos but there should be a disclaimer, just a quick black screen with words in every video. Although she shouldn’t be blamed for the stupidity of others that would take this approach as a cure all, the point is… she is educated and people following her won’t do their own research and just do what she does. But again…. It’s like I question myself… she shouldn’t be blamed for that ( yes granted she’s showing what works for her in helps of possibilities of the very slim percentage of her kind( if there is, she wouldn’t know unless she was their doctor )). Then Stephanie shouldn’t have to put a disclaimer but for the sake of young adults under 21 she definitely should add that in every video. Stuck between a rock and a hard place I suppose, I don’t blame her in a sense but again… she is in the public eye with youngins looking up to her and stupidity is a thing and common sense ain’t common. I’m not sure what I would do in her position other then a simple flash of a black screen disclaimer . No matter what people will do what they want

    Thank you so so so much!! I went all in in December and it’s going great so far. I still feel food guilt and ashamed of my body but I know it’s a process. Even if I eat a lot of chocolate it’s not even comparable with the amount i would eat after restrictions and I already feel I don’t want it ALL THE TIME! And i also started Workouts because i have so much energy! Sport was never fun to me but now it starts to feel right😍 (sorry for mistakes, English is not my native language)

    The book sounds like it’s going to be fun to read. Did you take any writing courses? That description had such a beautiful flow.

      Lol she had to write a thesis. Not saying that’s at all the same but it certainly helps to prepare you for other writing projects.

    I tried your “all in” intuitive eating thing and gained 80lbs in less than a year. I became obese and developed heart problems quickly. I don’t trust you at all anymore. Luckily I am committed to getting my health back but I will tell you that following you was not worth it. I have never been so sick in my life. No thanks.

    This is so inspiring. There is this weird cultural divide that says you have to either Restrict (either what you eat or how much) to be Healthy and there's another school of thought that says there's no point in trying to be healthy at all bc it makes life less enjoyable to do things like focus on nutrition and fitness.
    Seeing someone lift heavy and enjoy pizza. Seeing someone eat traditionally healthy food that also looks tasty, and is in a satisfying portion. It makes it look like there can be an enjoyable balance that help happiness and health reinforce one another, rather than it having to be one or the other.
    Seeing how far she's come makes me not want to give up on finding that balance for myself
