Back in the day (1990's early noughties) we used to ride Helmsley to Chop Gate, regroup, then continue to the entrance to the sports centre just before Stokesley. It avoided the temptation to ride at excessive speeds through Chop Gate and into Stokesley. Always on summer midweek evenings to avoid traffic. Weekends were a waste of time due to tourists cluttering the road. Crazy days with fantastic memories. Those days are gone (at least as far as I'm aware) and rightly so. Traffic has increased and driving standards have decreased noticeably since then. Ride safe everyone.
l agree about traffic increase, not only that but selfish, angry drivers. Dashcam footage on RUclips , always trying to prove they were right and everybody else is wrong.!..All it does is highlight, in many cases just how inconsiderate and impatient the author of the film is. Driving sure has become a Retrace...
Good Morning Dave, what a pleasant, peaceful ride through the countryside. The great enjoyment of roads with long sweeping bends is the rhythm one attains traveling at a near constant ..(moderate)..speed and swinging left to right, vice-versa with a fluidity of motion, rider and bike as one in fact..
Yet another cracking road to ride. I incorporated your buckden, Gayle, Hawes suggested route into a ride today and its a belter. Keep up the good work TBW. Cheers Dave W 👍
Great video again Dave , I think you have hit the sweet spot with your content creation. Happy to see the 1,000ft Bilsdale t.v. transmitter mast standing again following the collapse of the original due to an electrical fire in 2021.
Lots of bloggers comment on subscribe issues luckily I never had an issue. The jacket works with the bike as links to ktm. This bike is on my radar. Thanks 🙏
For anyone thinking of going on two wheels to north yorkshire be aware that the council has been resurfacing the roads with chippings ,it's riding over marbles. be careful keep it right way up .
No improvement, these loose chippings are lethal for bikers. A cheap alternative to a proper resurfacing. Should be outlawed on any road, an absolute disgrace.
Yep. I live in the Cotswolds which, outside of the usual honeypots, is as quiet as there is in the UK. A motorcycle ride and a pint at a village pub is utter heaven.
@@PDCRed Can’t argue with that . A leisurely bimble out in the sticks & a stop off at a nice picturesque country pub to quaff down a pint of proper real ale ,is where it’s at . 👍
Hi Dave , another great video of Gods country thank you. Not sure if I’ve had a senior moment, have I missed the video of you talking about your new lid ?? Thanks Dean
That was a nice flowing ride, Dave; from the description I was half-expecting a few tighter corners, but a flowing ride is always a satisfying one, especially being 78 with my days of harder riding happily behind me! 👍
Hi Dave that would be a beautiful naughty boys road great on the 1litre sports bikes if only I was 25 again but would be ok on my rocket as well it’s not a twisty but more a wavey road brilliant for riding above the limit 😂😂nice to hear your enjoying the cfmoto hope it’s ok and you have many happy miles on it take care
I live in Middlesbrough. Been riding the Helmsley to Chop Gate (pronounced Chop Yat) road decades before it was so named. It is truly spectacular. This info is for you guys who are tempted to ride this road for the first time and are not familiar with the reputation this road has; both for your safety and license’s, not to mention your wallets sake too. 😂 But best to avoid this road completely at week ends and bank holidays. Watch your speed coz there is a heavy Police presence on the road with unmarked Police car and motorcycle units and of course those disgusting mobile camera vans all staffed by civvies that must be really desperate for a job, I do wonder how those people sleep at night. No axe to grind here, clean license since I started riding in 1978. Sorry to be political on a motorcycle video; but despite what the Police tell you the narrative and modus operandi for those mobile camera units have very little to do with actual road safety and everything to do with revenue generation along with blind authoritarianism. I’m old fashioned you see; those disgusting camera vans will ticket you where a good old fashioned Traffic Bobby of yesteryear will take in to consideration several factors of your riding and not just the single fact that you were riding above the speed limit. Come and enjoy this wonderful road and stunning scenery; in fact ride it both ways; but ride safely. Cheers Neil

After watching this vid , all I can say is it would be a sin to live in your neck of the woods & not own a motorcycle .👍
My thoughts entirely 😎👍🏻
