They should give you and Hugh one. I bought the the initial one after looking at your review. I use your reviews as a go to before buying. BTW my initial feeling on the Pro 2 is that the improvements are more video than photos. I really like the crystal view feature because VR content has always lacked high quality. As for the far sight wifi, this will be great for drones although there won't be too many people with that size drone and it will not make up a huge volume of the footage shot on this camera. I am not sure I want to be too far away from my $5,000 dollar camera, maybe in the wilderness. The main thing I use the Pro for is 3D photos and it is just fantastic for recording the essence of wherever I shoot. So it will have to be improvements in this area to convince me to upgrade. I love the simplicity and file size of the Fusion for my video.

Hi Mic !! Great video !! I have been searching for some content on using 360 cameras in low light. especially while taking images of rooms with low or almost no lighting. Are there 360 cameras with inbuilt flash ? if there aren't, is there a proven best practice ? Would truly appreciate some help on this subject
Jason Oliver Dsouza thanks Jason! I love your question bec i use flash too. Right now there are no 360 cameras with flash capability. if you want to use flash, you need to use a dslr and a 360 panoramic head. It is tricky but definitely doable. 360rumors.com/2018/05/panoramic-head-tutorial.html

When I trying , the video I recorded can not upload to Google Street View because the stitcher tips me there is no GPS information in my vedio.
how does the crystalview player compares with vizbit quality wise.where can we get crystalview it is not on their download page ? thanks
amanieux hi amanieux it's been a while since i saw visbit but my impression is visbit is more robust / fewer errors. But maybe because i was seeing a crystalview prototype. I will try to get a link for the app and post it here
As a warning to anyone contemplating buying the 2. There is currently no way to playback 8k3d 360 video. Insta say they will release the crystalviewer software but the stitching program required for it hasn t been released yet (and the player software has massive IPD issues when playing the test footage)

We are considering purchasing an Insta 360 pro 2. We know it’s been on the market for over one year now and ask your advice if this is a camera you would purchase now in mid 2020 or is there a new Insta 360 pro 3 on the horizon or any other camera. Reasons for possible purchasing is that the price is now under £4000 in the uk. We are moving more towards 360 videos, linking them to drone footage. We also carried a clients Insta 360 to film waterfalls in scotland, But were not involved with editing. We have used an Insta 360 one x for 2 years now and love it. however picture quality is not good enough. Using 3D Vista software. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Sky Captain. I haven't heard rumors of a Pro 3. Pro 2 is a good choice for 360 videos. For 360 photos, I would use a DSLR panorama for even better quality, unless you want 3D 360 photos.
Hi! Quick question, I just got mine in the mail and the 6 micro sd cards do not go all the way in like they do in my drones, gopro, etc. they stick out half way and i feel like that's not normal, but I don't want to force them in and break something. I've tried pushing them in pretty far and they just don't lock in place, they spring back to the middle. Did you find the card inserts to be troublesome as well or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
Hi Sky Story. I don't have Insta360 Pro 2 (I had to return it) and I don't remember if the micro SD cards go all the way in. I recommend asking insta360 or asking in a facebook group for insta360 pro to be safe.

I ended up figuring it out - they do go all the way in, but while normally I can get it far enough to lock with just my finger or fingernail, with these I needed to use another mini sd card to push the other in. It's not ideal in my opinion but it worked! Now I just have to figure out how to use the camera & edit hahaha. Thanks again! I am subscribed and look forward to learning from you!

Very informative! Question for you - would you please run some tests with subjects close to the camera? The Pro 1 has different settings (close up, far, etc I forget exactly). But what I'm most interested in is stitching lines when subjects are up to 4 inches away from the camera.

you didn't mention the RAW DNEG workflow, especially for time-lapse an very important feature and the new HDR capabilities which IMO makes a huge difference between consumer and professional cameras
Mark Andre Kolars hi Mark great questions! Yes it supports DNG, same as insta360 pro. Yes you can use raw for time lapse or for bracketing.
Hi, can you plug the Pro 2 camera directly into a computer to copy the files without taking out all 6 + 1 cards? Also, does it work on a pc or just Mac? Lastly, someone said no wi-fi below? I thought it had wi-fi? Thanks.
Hi Teslah99! Yes you can connect it to your PC via ethernet cable and you won't have to remove all the cards. Pro 2 does have Wi-Fi. in fact, it has this technology called Farsight that works very far distances (up to 3km)

Thanks SassePhoto! Tbh i havent compared live streaming on pro vs pro 2. Another possibility is pilot era, which i will review soon. Pilot era can accommodate a sim card.

I'm new to the 360 VR world. I've played around with some prosumer 360 cameras before and while the resolution is touted as 4k,the quality really isn't that good. How sharp is the footage with a camera like this?

Is the image quality from about 2:02 to 2:19 typical? Was that shot with the new version? It looked very soft and had of what what I think must be stitching artifacts. I just bought the Insta360 ONE and will be trying it out over the next couple of months while traveling in New Zealand. Thanks for the update.

Looking at sample #2 starting at 0:30 looking toward the plaza, I see the pavement in the middle ground shifting around kind of randomly. Is this common in 360 shooting? Is there more processing that can reduce this kind of artifacting?
If you are looking directly at the nadir (the bottom of the 360 sphere), that is one of the hardest parts to stitch for a camera with radially-oriented lenses (the zenith is the other one that is hard). Distortion at the nadir is very typical, but usually not an issue since you're likely going to patch that area to hide the tripod / cameraman anyway. If you are looking at another part, maybe you can post a screenshot?
How would you compare Pro 2 with Obsidian R/S in the professional level?
Hi Agnius! I don't know yet because I haven't had shooting experience with the Pro 2. If and when I get a Pro 2, I'll be able to get a better idea. My guess is that Pro 2 is better, but that's only a guess. Best regards, Mic

Hi Steve7sisters. You mean insta360 pro? Hmm very strange. That hasn't happened to me so I don't know the cause. It's possible that your SD card is not fast enough, but there's supposed to be a speed test to make sure it's fast enough, so i'm confused....

If you want to use sd card, the best is Sandisk Extreme Pro. It is more expensive but it is definitely faster so you will have less chance for errors.

we can now download the player but it is crystalview format only cant we see any 8k equirect video from any other camera ?
Salut mon ami! insta360 will release the stitcher for pro 2, which you can use to convert any 6K video or above into VRB format. But the stitcher is not yet released

They are 8K 3D 360 videos in crystalview VRB format, except for the folder called Oculus Go, which has 8K 2D 360 videos in crystalview VRB format.

No it's a free app. I've used it for Gear VR and Oculus Go and they both worked. what are you using to view it?

@@360vroomers thanks Mic! Yeah i was wondering how the image quality relates to each other. Most of the time i only make 360 photo's. I am not making a lot of video's. In that case i can keep using my gh4 and gh5 with the samyang lens. I am very happy with the quality of the shots i make with my gh4 and gh5. This one was made with the gh4: kuula.co/post/7PMG6. One of the pictures i made during my visit of a castle in The Netherlands. I assume the quality of this 360 photo is better than ones shot with the insta360 pro? Similar to panono? The size of this picture is about 45 mb. I used panorama studio pro for stiching.
Chris71319 looks great buddy. This is much better than what insta360 pro can produce. Panono is higher res but this one has better bit depth and color depth, and possibly as much detail. The value of insta pro for me is 3d 360 photos and videos. And panono is for speed and convenience in shooting. But for quality, dslr is best.😀
@@360vroomers thats for reviewing the picture my friend. Very useful. According to panorama studio pro one stiched 360 picture (of 8 regulur ones in my case) is arround 80 mp. I remember a 360 photo of the panono is 108 mp. In that case the resolution of panono is indeed higher. Not bad for a not DSLR camera 👌
Chris71319 yes panono has higher nominal resolution but in terms of actual detail, you may see more in the dslr pano. Definitely, the dslr pano will have higher image quality.
What about the fan noise? Does capturing audio near the camera still require you to filter out that fan?
William Miles La Mont great question! no change to the fan noise - same option to run 15 mins without the fan.

Is this suitable for night timelapses, milky way shootin?
I was able to shoot milky way timelapse with six gopro 4 black rig in 2016, so I think it is really possible. Use long enough exposure and find the sweetspot of settings like iso etc. To reduce noise... stuff like that i'll would probably go with Titan instead.
All the respect in the world for 360Rumors, if your expecting an Insta360 consumer camera on steroids like I was you are going to be disappointed. Not only in the camera but in the support as well. Insta360 has canned response for all support requests as it pertains to this camera, "we will forward your concerns to our support staff and R&D team" and it ends there. The driver for this camera hasn't had any updates in close to two years and the stitcher software in close to three. The footage on RUclips doesn't look much better then the consumer models like the One RS, and you have to be proficient wit Pr and Ae. The stabilization is useless because using it disables the direction lock so while your moving it it will only face in it's original direction. They do a great job avoiding this fact even to the point that they removed my question about it from their support forms. The footage from this camera can and will "pop" but the workflow is long and you must be proficient with Pr & Ae.
I currently oversee the use of about 20 of the consumers level cameras from Onex - the One RS, this camera will not take you to the next level if you intend to move around with it, stick to the consumer cameras and save $4500.
Hi Chris. I agree that the quality of a current-generation camera like 1-inch 360 is about as good as the quality of an older professional cam like the pro 2. The only remaining advantage of pro 2 is that it can shoot 3D 360 photos and videos. If you don't need 3D 360 photos and videos, there's no point in getting a pro 2 instead of 1-inch 360, imho.
They promised continued support. But there is no new firmware since 2019 :(
Does anybody know if something like this would work on top of a UFC cage? Seeing a fight like that is really something I can't get out of my head.
Hi there sggsdd1! Yes VR can be used for an MMA match. It's possible to put it above the octagon although the action will feel a bit far away. fwiw there are 360 videos of boxing matches from cameras at the ring, such as this one ruclips.net/video/raKh0OIERew/видео.html
I'm having issues with distance using farsight...ground to air it cuts out at about 350feet. They claim 1000m I'm not even getting anything close to that.
Hi Robert. Is this for a drone? Perhaps the drone's signal is causing interference? Even if not a drone, there are many possible sources of interference. Also how did you measure 350ft? Is that the distance from the camera to the remote (3D distance)?I recommend contacting insta360 product support to see if they can help you improve the distance.
360Rumors yeah how else you going to use it ground to air? Cuts off at about the same distance no matter where I am. How are they getting 1000’ from ground to air? At this point they are full of bs and there customer service sucks with little to no follow up.

Just to clarify, 350 ft is both vertical and horizontal distance? Hugh Hou has used pro 2 with a drone. You may want to ask him re distance.
360Rumors thank you for your response....I’m taking this up to 350 feet , I’m right under it and it cuts out. The support isn’t very helpful and don’t seem to actually read and digest my problem and keep giving me the same info I can look up and read. So far this isn’t living up to their specs

Here's a HANDS-ON report on Insta360 Pro 2! Pro 2 with free extra battery and extra charger: bit.ly/insta360pro2 In the video I showed a sample from the Pro 2 but it doesn't do the Pro 2 justice because that sample has been re-compressed at least 4 times. For an actual sample check out this playlist: ruclips.net/video/Jb700lV7oLc/видео.html I should also mention that raw dng shooting is available in all modes including time lapse and exposure bracketing, so yes you can have a 9-shot exposure bracket (and IIRC the exposure interval is customizable).
