The Insta360 Pro captures 8K flat 360 video, stitches on its own, and is dead-simple to use.
For these reasons and more, it's become Immersive Shooter Editor-At-Large Robert Hernandez's go-to camera for shooting immersive journalism. Here's why.

Sweet Review...I have been using the OneX for a few years now and wanted to bump up the quality does the Pro work with invisible selfie sticks because I have been filming action shots but wish they could be higher quality...thanks so much for your input and time.

Tha ks for the review it was simple and informative. Can you share any Street view pics or any GSV walkthrough link just to see this cameras image quality.

Thanks for the review Robert. In your opinion how do they compare in terms of image quality?

Is there less distortion with 6 cameras instead of 2?

Great hands on review of the camera. Definitely gives me plenty of info to base my purchase decision on. Two questions: 1. could you post a link for the 3D lenses you put on your phone and 2. How would you compare the image quality and image customizations with the s1? Thanks - Henry

hello is it possible to use only 3 lenses instead of six, in order to have a 180 degrees pano and save a lot of room in thr SD card?

Thank you for the review. I am wondering if you could upload some 8k 360 stills from the Insta360 pro of an interio to the Cupix 3D modeling software. I am real curious how much more resolution I might get over uploading Theta S 360's and if the Cupix Rendering software can even handle the Insta360 images.

Thanks for the review. Curious why or even how the camera could appear to be shooting from a higher position than it physically was placed. Seems like that would be optically impossible. Did you test that or more of a hunch?

Great review! Answered every question I had about this unit except for low light performance. I'm going to rent one for use in a focus group setting and I'd like not to have to add any or much additional lighting. Your thoughts?

Robert, We do Google Street View Tours and I would like to know which camera you would buy today to accomplish very good, but at a reasonable price point for the client camera?

This camera is amazing but what they don.t tell you is that there isn.t anyway to playback the 8k footage without using an internet streaming service like youtube or visbit both require massive data upload, visbit is a paid service, and youtbue requires massively fast internet connection for 8k). Its like cannon selling 2 video cameras one a 4k and another an 8k. But then saying u can.t actually view the 8k footage taken, its only for recording! (Or u can decrease the resolution, in which case why pay more for high resolution camera)

Hey, has anyone used this in small spaces like a truck driving cab? Need to know what the stitching is like in confined spaces! Great overview, Thanks

I've used the Insta on a couple of in-car shoots. To be honest, it's not the best solution. I had to be very creative with where I placed edge points when stitching the footage in MistikaVR. I got away with it when the camera was mounted for a passenger seat POV but it's not worth the hassle of attempting a driver's POV. A friend of mine shoots a lot of in-car 360 with the Z-Cam S1 and says the stitching is a lot simpler (four cameras as opposed to six). S1 is almost half the price too ;-)

3D_Davs thanks. From what I've seen the few the cameras the better for confined spaces. I've been using the fusion which seems to be a good compromise. Can't wait for the hardware and decoders to be able to support greater resolutions.

I used the Fusion on a recent job too. I was surprised how well it came out, to be honest. I wouldn't trust it in a low light situation but it worked great on an overcast but bright day for an in-car drivers POV.

Does it handle stitching internally? It is good in stitching?
So, it doesn't require software like Autopano, right?

Hey man, can you give me any advice to improve the audio record? I am having problems with the quality when the sound of what i am filming is too loud. can you help me??

Using the Insta360 Pro app, you should be able to set recording gain (default at zero). I almost always reduce my gain by -20dB (for starters); provided your signal is above the noise floor or the device itself, you can pretty much add all of the gain you'll ever need back digitally now that we're in the days of 24 bit recording (but it's much harder to fix the harsh digital clipping that results from recording too hot!). Also, make sure you're turning the fan off if you're able to. If you're really after quality audio and you've got the spare change, I'd go a step further and recommend the Sennheiser AMBEO VR microphone, which is a beautiful sounding microphone and blows the on-board mics (and many others) out of the water!
