      BTW, can you explain a little bit more isolated exposure and the shutter speed (1/60 - 1/6000) and how people go about setting it if they decide to go manual mode. I did some tests on the isolated exposure and it does not seen to be working like S1Pro. And really can not tell the differnet in post. What is your feedback on that. I love manual mode but I am always confused about the shutter speed. I used to shutter angle of 1/180 - and what is 1/600 - ... really mean compared to shutter angle in film world?

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Hugh. In the app, go to Exposure tab. The first option is Mode. You can choose Auto, Manual, or isolated exposure. Isolated exposure is like Auto but it will set the exposure independently for each lens.
      In my tests it really does work - each lens has its own exposure. Maybe you need to try more extreme conditions, like one lens that is facing sunny side, and the other lens facing a shaded side.
      If you use manual exposure you can use the shutter speed anywhere from 1/8000 to 60 seconds. As far as I can tell, they function the same way as normal cameras and will follow the sunny 16 rule for example. Maybe I misunderstood your question? Pls feel free to PM me on FB anytime buddy!
      Best regards,
      Mic

    I was thinking to upgrade my Insta360 One X for Street View photography. The Pro 2 is out of my budget. Would it be worth it to buy the Pro 1 or is the quality of the One X just as good as the Pro 1? I know the resolution is better, but there is more to image quality then just resolution.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  2 года назад

      Hi Eysteinn. In my opinion, One X's video quality is almost as good as the Insta360 Pro 1, although Insta360 Pro can shoot in 3D 360.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  5 лет назад

      hi YoshTea. i think the bottelneck is probably your graphics card. It should not take 1:120 ratio to stitch insta360 pro. the ratio should be more like 1:10 or something like that. for pc users reading this, i recommend at least gtx 1050 ti: amzn.to/2EzH8lF . For mac, i don't know what graphics cards you can use.

      @360vroomers  6 лет назад

      hi Paul! The one I used in the video is a monopod (Kodak monopod), but as you can see it is swaying a bit. Instead I've now been using a Linco 8ft light stand, which is more stable and is taller than most tripods). They also have a 10ft light stand. Linco stands are made of steel so they're tougher and also a little heavier which decreases the center of gravity. The legs can also be adjusted to any radius from maximum to minimum. Here is the 8ft version amzn.to/2fKkcaC Here is the 10 ft version amzn.to/2uIO664

Cant i take beautiful scene of many buildings without showing the circular view or me standing with tripod?

      Hi Tariq. When you say circular view, you mean the fisheye effect? That depends on the viewing software. Re standing with tripod, you'll need to hide when you shoot, or mask yourself out.

    Hi Mic, great intro video!! Been watching your posts for a while... just received delivery of my Insta360 Pro and wondered what settings you suggested for tours? Am I best to shoot 100% RAW or just for the outdoors and then HDR for indoors? As I've done a couple test with raw indoors was a little disappointed with the quality for such a pricey camera... I also have the OneX which I'm always shooting in RAW. All the best Dave (keep up the good work!!)

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  4 года назад +1

      Thanks David! Re Insta360 Pro, you can use 9-shot HDR. It will be able to capture the highlight details outside the window. If the scene's dynamic range is low, then you can use Raw DNG. Re Insta360 Pro quality, its strength is 3D 360. For detail, it's ok, although not the best as you said.

    Hi Mick, Ive been watching you and Hou's vids for a few weeks now, thanks for posting! I was thinking about purchasing this camera second hand and Ill be using it for mostly motion footage, like on a dune buggy here at Little Sahara dunes in Oklahoma. Im not sure how it will handle the bumpy ride of a dune buggy, how is the image stabilization, I read that image stabilization was only available when in monoscopic mode. Maybe some new firmware or software updates this year 2019 for this? Thanks!

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  5 лет назад

      Thanks Ody! The Pro 1's stabilization is not that good. It will definitely not be good enough for a dune buggy. I would instead recommend One X. The detail would be lower but it will be much more stable.

    Hi Mick! Thanks for your informative videos! Have you ever had any issues using an SD Card on the Insta360 Pro? I am currently using a Lexar SDXC with a write speed of 300mb/s (10X the speed of their minimum requirement) and somehow I'm getting a "Storage Speed Insufficient" error message when shooting video. I've been able to use this card successfully in the past, but now it fails every time. I've tried reformatting the card as an exFat multiple times, still nothing. Any ideas?

    One question ( maybe a stupid one).
    Where do I stand so I am NOT in the shot? ie the finished version is me-free?
    Do I need to use content-aware fill?

Now my problem is processing 8k files, it said 65 hours for 8k 3d for a 10min video on my 12 core mac pro with 64 gb of ram. Question, is Stitcher GPU heavy? i've got a gtx 1060 i can upgrade to.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  5 лет назад +1

      Hey there Waldo. Congrats and I totally understand what you mean. 3d 360 or even 3d 180 is way more immersive. Re rendering, you need a graphics card. 1060 should be enough. With 1060 the ratio is something like 15:1 for 8k 3d iirc.

    Hi. Thanks for all your videos on 360cams. Really helped me understand the differ that offerings in the market. Can you plz let me know what would be the quality difference between a photo taken on a insta 360 pro and a Dslr panorama. (photos wouldn't be used for a virtual tour of a property)

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  6 лет назад

      Hi Jason! A DSLR panorama can have unlimited detail depending on your choice of lens and body, and if done correctly, should have zero parallax stitching error. On the other hand, for moving subjects (eg people), insta360 pro is much more practical. Also, shooting a 3D 360 photo with a DSLR is challenging (unless perhaps if you have a rig for that purpose) so for 3D 360, insta360 pro is much more convenient. Best regards, mic

    • @jasonoliverdsouza6263
      @jasonoliverdsouza6263 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Mick. Would you be able to help me understand whats the ideal resolution of a 360 deg image for best results in VR. Im referring to VR apps like cardboard which are used on regular androids or i phones with a VR headset. I understand greater the resolution, better its VR experience. But I'm assuming a phones VR experience will be restricted by its screen specs. Which would suggest that I wouldn't need to to chase ultimate resolution images, but could settle with cost/time effective means of capturing 360images ( eg : Gear 360 instead of DSLR ). Would really appreciate any feedback on this subject.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  6 лет назад

      Hi Jason. The higher the original resolution, the better. If you're worried about whether phones can play it back, you can down-res 8K to 4K, and it will look much better than video that was originally shot at 4K. best regards, Mic

    Hi, thanks for the really great, informative video. I have a question about the codecs when stitching...When you were exporting the 8k footage, why did the software give you the option of exporting in H264? I thought H264 doesn't support 8k resolution?

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  6 лет назад

      You're right, officially h264 doesnt support 8k but fwiw the software can stitch 8k with h264 and it is somehow playable and you can import to premiere. But if you export the project, premiere wont let you export 8k in h264.

    • @360vroomers

      Hi Emad! To edit 8K you need very powerful hardware. Bare minimum is i5-4590, 8GB, GTX 1060. This is not due to any issue with the Insta360 Pro -- this is something true for 8K video editing.

    Do you think $1500 is a good price for this in 2023? My use case is not professional but more for footage of family events and vacations (only going into the pro category bc I value resolution / 3D) ... is it going to be too cumbersome / fragile for this? Having never touched one and it being a unique form factor, I really cant tell even if it's viable to walk around with. Lastly, it being older and likely no longer getting firmware updates, did it get what it needed by its final update?

      Hi if you are looking for video quality then actually the 1-inch 360 is higher image quality than insta360 pro, besides being smaller, cheaper, easier to use. But it is not 3d. If you care about 3d, I’d invite you to consider vr180 cameras or 3d cameras like the kandao qoocam ego. They have similar image quality as insta360 pro while being more convenient for family events and vacations. If you really really want 3d 360 then yes insta360 pro might be a reasonable solution although it is quite bulky and slow to use.

    Great Informative Video. I'm planning to buy a 360 camera but not sure which one I should buy. My primary goal is online TV (3d video) and live streaming on youtube/facebook. I'm confused between Insta pro 360 or obsidian R or z cam s1.

      Thank you very much Vipul! Z Cam S1 has no 3D, but S1 Pro does. The effect is weak because it wasn't designed as a 3D camera. As for Obsidian R, my friend Hugh Hou said it has better dynamic range. I haven't processed my Obsidian R footage yet but Insta360 Pro is much easier to use and more affordable. So it depends if workflow and/or budget are important considerations or not. If they are, Insta360 Pro would better. If not, Obsidian R may be better (according to Hugh).

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  7 лет назад +1

      Hi there Basicbill! Thank you for your feedback. That's a very good question! I think 360 is moving very fast and there are very few cameras that are truly "future proof" (in retrospect, the only one that was future proof is the Panono, which is still the highest resolution 360 camera 4 years after it was first offered on Indiegogo).
      Having said that, I think the Insta360 Pro is more future proof compared to other professional 360 cameras such as the GoPro Omni because of its low cost. And as stitching software improves, the Insta360 Pro will benefit from those improvements as well (for its unstitched photos and videos).
      If I had to predict, I think it's safe to say it is future proof for one year. After two years, I am guessing it will still be competitive, but there might be better (higher quality or lower cost or more convenient) alternatives. That's my best guess...
      Thanks again!
      Best regards,
      Mic

    • @briandavidphillips
      @briandavidphillips 7 лет назад +1

      Nothing can be truly future proof, even for a few months let alone a year or two. Things in the space are moving very very quickly and a camera that was awesome this month can suddenly be eclipsed even before they are released. The pro has a pretty hefty package though and it's certainly an excellent deal for anyone wishing to work in true vr video (3D and 360) and is much easier to get into than some of the more high end packages for professionals with their US$10K to US$45K price tags.

I think anyone could buy these two items (with correct barrel connector) and power the camera. Linco stands are made of steel so they're tougher and also a little heavier which decreases the center of gravity. The legs can also be adjusted to any radius from maximum to minimum. It even works while streaming (see my Insta360 Pro live streaming test ruclips.net/video/ojIZwusY_P0/видео.html). The stabilizer does have a couple of limits: first stabilization only works in 2D videos. 3D 360 videos cannot use the gyro stabilizer. Second, whenever the stabilization corrects for movement, there is a little bit of a blur in the image. If there is a lot of movement, the blur will become more noticeable. I hope this answers your question. :) Best regards, Mic

    What others camera has the same workflow and quality of the insta 360 pro ?

      Thanks nguwusic! For real estate indoor with point and shoot ease, panono has higher quality and costs less, although it requires a 5 ft. minimum stitching distance. Insta360 Pro is good but not a huuuuge improvement from xiaomi mi sphere or gopro fusion, imho, considering its cost, which is why i would suggest fusion or mi sphere instead, unless you want 3D 360 photos. For 3D 360, insta360 pro is very good. You can compare insta360 pro with other cameras side by side here 360rumors.com/360-camera-comparison-tool#dslr

      360Rumors.com ah right, that's what I heard. And those stitch lines can't be corrected in post, like mistika VR ?
      Are the insta pro and obsidian go nowhere near the quality of a DSLR ?

      @@360vroomers ok thanks for those info, would you say the panini quality is close to DSLR ?
      Is there any new effective to solve the stitch problem ? Does the panono do HDR ?

    I desire to know how I can use my iPad Pro to edit?

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  2 года назад

      Hi George please note resolution will be limited to 4K 360 videos, so editing on the mobile app is not the best way to edit 360 videos. But if you really want to, you can try the Insta360 app Stories feature. Here is a tutorial: ruclips.net/video/ArUACiypRgg/видео.html

    Hi Mick! Thanks for your informative videos! Have you ever had any issues using an SD Card on the Insta360 Pro? I am currently using a Lexar SDXC with a write speed of 300mb/s (10X the speed of their minimum requirement) and somehow I'm getting a "Storage Speed Insufficient" error message. I've been able to use this card successfully in the past, but now it fails every time. I've tried reformatting the card as an exFat multiple times, still nothing. Any ideas?

      Alomar K hi Alomar. Yes the best solution is to use an external ssd. Way fewer problems. The ssd that seems to work best is sandisk extreme 500. Some users got the samsung ssd recommended by insta360 and they're experiencing problems. No one i know has experienced any problems with sandisk extreme 500. Here is my review 360rumors.com/2017/07/faster-cheaper-sandisk-extreme-500-portable-ssd-review.html
      I hope this helps.
      Best regards,

      Hi Mic! Thank you for the quick response and the tips! It's a shame SD cards don't work too well. Which Samsung ssd did Insta360 recommend? I had preemptively ordered the T5 before posting that comment. My research told me it was one of the faster models out there, but if it's going to be buggy I may have to reconsider.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Alomar. I think it might have been the Samsung T5. Just to clarify, I don't know what percentage of T5 owners are having issues. I'm sure there are at least some who got it and had no issues but aren't saying anything. So the fact that I saw some T5 owners who had issues may be producing a skewed picture of its reliability. Best regards, Mic
