Angelina Jolie & The voice of the little mermaid are great voices . Penelope Cruz has a cool voice . Michelle from Batman Returns as Catwoman she owned the character in all parts her acting , her voice & the look all Amazing .
I mean, I was like wondering where's Cher! Like in Moonstruck, Mask, Silkwood, Mermaids, Tea with Mussolini, Burlesque, Suspect... name any movie where she's on it, we can tell Cher is on it with our eyes closed. Her voice is toooo distincted. 💟
Sad to not see Tara Strong even honorably mentioned. Easily recognizable and voice a good chunk on my childhood. Kristen Schaal and Eartha Kitt though i was glad to see.
I adore Eartha Kitt, she will always be my favorite Catwoman. I loved watching both of the very different Hepburn ladies, and Drew Barrymore can bring a smile to my face every time. But Marilyn has a very special place in my heart. I'm kind of surprised that there were only two ladies on here whose voices I find highly irritating, but even those were turned up a notch at their worst/but best remembered roles.
Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice on "Friends", modeled her exaggerated voice on Fran Drescher. It's a bit of a shock to hear her actual voice in interviews.
She’s been on a number of shows using her regular voice, most notably Seinfeld (she was also on one episode of Will & Grace). Also, I believe she was one of the camp counselors in The Parent Trap. But you almost don’t even recognize her in other roles bc she isn’t wearing nearly as much makeup, and the normal voice, obviously 😂
I'm not sure how much acting roles she had (besides, at least one voice acting role in "Rudolph & Frosty Christmas in July"), but Ethel Merman had one hell of a distinct voice as well. Her songs from "Annie Get Your Gun" (Anything You Can Do" & "There’s No Business") are still synonymous with her.
Kristen Schaal is also Mable from Gravity Falls, because of the episode "Tourist Trapped" were the cast decided to read the script like books. Each taking turns talking when their characters appeared in episode. Look it up.
This is WatchMojo. They only include black ppl when it is something that went "mainstream" (white Americans know it). That's why it was not surprising that a huge credit that they left off with Cree Summer is that she actually physically acted on A Different World for 5 years when she played Freddie Brooks. That show didn't get as mainstream as The Cosby Show did.
Ok.. When I saw the title of this list, I immediately thought of Kate Mulgrew! But she is not even mentioned! He voice is really is the first thing I noticed about her, especially in Star Trek Voyager.
#2, Shohrea Aghdashloo, is my all time favorite voice ever. If I were to pick someone to narrate my life, it would be her. I am so happy to see her on this list. She has such an amazing voice ❤
You omitted Comedian/Actress Amy Schumer from this list. 😃 Also Edith Bunker's voice, portrayed by Jean Stapleton, was classic until her death on May 31, 2013. R.I.P. And who could ever forget the incomparable Mary Richards of the 1970's sitcom series "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"? All three ladies are memorable! 💘
I'm sorry to see that Sandy Dennis has been forgotten. I always thought it amazing that a woman with so many distinct facial and vocal tics could play such a wide range of characters.
Personally Shohreh Aghdashloo is the one actress I recognise anywhere with her voice. It's so incredibly distinct. From Mass Effect to Elementary to Picard to The Expanse. She sounds like she chain smokes 3 packs of cigarettes a day. I knew who she is straight away.
For your inevitable sequel to this list, don't forget Greta Garbo, Bette Davis, Butterfly McQueen, Gloria Grahame, Elizabeth Taylor, Jean Stapleton and Suzanne Pleshette.
💯 I agree with all of these! Also, Bette Davis, Susan Hayward, Catherine Keener, Kristin Chenoweth, Cathy Moriarty, Emma Stone, Miley Cyrus, Debi Mazar, Carol Kane, Rose Marie, Debra Winger, Glynis Johns, Elizabeth Ashley, Georgia Engel, Zsa Zsa or Eva Gabor, Brenda Vaccaro, Judi Dench and Sarah Silverman.
Nice list. Thank you for including Fran Drescher, who definitely has one of the most unique voices I've ever heard. I would have also included Claudia Black on this list. From Aeryn in Farscape to Chloe in the Uncharted video game series, Claudia's voice is instantly recognizable.
I love this list. As a woman who has a deeper raspier voice. I am self-conscious of my voice. Especially being mistaken for a man or transgender woman over the phone and in person many times in the past. It's good to see that these women didn't let their unique voices stop them. I have PCOS and it affected my voice during puberty. I didn't realize until my 29th birthday two years ago how deep my voice was. My grandmother called me for my birthday and I put her on speaker and I heard my own voice for the first time in years. When I talk I sound different in my own ears.
I would've had Queen Latifah on this list. Whether you know her as Charlene for Bringing Down the House, Khadijah James from Living Single or as Mabel from Hairspray you can recognize her just about anywhere.
Yzma cracked me up hysterically when I was a kid! 😂 the physical torture she went throughout the film, lmao. She truly suffered a lot, more than any other Disney villain
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Maggie Wheeler from “ FRIENDS” or Shannen Doherty cause Tennessee accent shines through from time the way she pronounces certain words and can recognize her voice right off too I love it - and think it’s really cool
I recognize the voice talent of Tara Strong, Kelly Sheridan, Mae Whitman, Kristen Chenoweth, Jennifer Tilly, Whoopi Goldberg, Wendi Malick, Uzo Aduba……
Your number 1 is perfect, and your list is excellent. I do think you should have found space for Lucy. That comedian/ actress had one of the most distinctive voices of all of television. And of course Tallulah Bankhead is peerless in this dept.
They left out a couple of other actresses like Elizabeth Taylor, Emma Thompson, Meryl Streep, Julie Andrews, and Maggie Smith. They need to do a male equivalent and if they do, they should include people like Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Richard Burton, Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Morgan Freeman, James Earl Jones, Matthew Broderick, Kevin Costner and Alan Rickman.
Wendie Malick should have made this list! Her voice is so easily recognizable and she's played so many great characters, including but not limited to Chicha (The Emperors New Groove), Beatrice (Bojack Horseman), and Eda Clawthorne (The Owl House)
I know what it's like to have a distinct voice. Let me tell you a story... When I was little, I visited one of my uncles. He had some friends over, and he introduced me to them. Struggling to be social, I could only say "Hello" in a low voice. Afterwards, I went home (conveniently next door). Years later, my uncle tells me about that day. After I had left, his friends asked him, "Does she always talk like that?" He told them that in any foreign country, it would take anyone else at least a couple of weeks to pick up the accent. I, however, only need one day.
Lol I always laugh at the one Whose Line episode where Ryan rams his head into the light on Drew's podium, but still stays perfectly in character as Carol Channing! 😂
When I was an adjunct professor I had a student with a very Kathleen Turner style voice. When I mentioned that fact, she was offended at first. None of the students recognized Jessica Rabbit as a character, but one knew the movie “Romancing the Stone”. He told the young lady that my comment was a huge compliment. The student was having problems projecting for a presentation and I commented that her voice did help, but it could be done.
How could you omit Alex Borstein from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Natasha Lyonne from Poker Face and, of course, Yeardley Smith? Simpsons fans smile when they encounter Yeardley in an acting role. Even in her normal speaking voice, there is no mistaking Lisa Simpson.
There were so many other actresses that deserved to be here. Some of the one's you listed aren't really that distinctive. People like Carol Channing, Holly Hunter, Jennifer Tilly, Kristen Schaal, Fran Drescher, and Eartha Kitt were perfect. But actresses like Bea Arthur, Cher, Betty White, Dolly Parton, and especially Joan Rivers were more deserving.
I thought I'd only ever heard Carol Channings voice via Ryan Styles from Who's Line is it Anyway, but I just realised that she voiced Mrs Fieldmouse in Thumbelina 😅😅
I would have added: Liza Minelli Kristen Wiig Bette Davis Julie Kavner Lucille Ball Bea Arthur Madeline Kahn Brittany Murphy Dolly Parton Penny Marshall Shelly Duvall Catherine O’Hara Parker Posey
Amy Jo Johnson She's Not Just The Original Pink Power Ranger she's been In Felicity (1998-2002) never saw that and the Canadian Police drama Flashpoint (2008-2012)
Eartha Kitt, Kristen Chenoweth, Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Lynch...I was SURE at least a couple of them would make this list...was glad to see some, but I feel like they missed some big ones...
I know this goes back quite a while, but the actress Margaret Sullavan had a wonderful, very distinctive voice. Louise Brooks described her as "strange, fey, mysterious - like a voice singing in the snow."
Audrey Hepburn was from Belgium and was a teenager during World War Two. It was after the war ended that she and mother went to England to start a new life. Mostly dance before she became an actress.
Dear Phoebe or Rebecca, please do a Top 10 or 20 of Excellent UK Dames......Maggie, Judi, Hellen, Brenda, Helena and ofcourse Joan ( I proberly forgot a few)
From Catwoman to Yzma, Eartha Kitt had a voice like no one else that can never truly be replicated. May she rest in piece.
That's an interesting to phrase that way - which Catwoman voice are you thinking of? The style being part of her character?
Rest in Peace, Eartha Kitt. She was the best choice for Yzma, she was clearly having a blast at voicing her.
She had colon cancer.
Eartha Kitt even adlibbed a lot on emperors new Grove
She came up with both the "Wrong Lever!" And why do we even have that lever
Her accent was a mix between a Caribbean, British and Middle Eastern
And we had a blast listening to her!
At least my brother and I did! We have "The Emperor's New Groove" memorized down to the last syllable, that's how much we watched it!
The biggest missed opportunity in my opinion was not including Cher. Seriously, Cher has one of the most iconic, unique, and distinctive voices.
Is Cher an actress?
@@KuudereButMoeshe won an Oscar for best actress for Moonstruck
Angelina Jolie & The voice of the little mermaid are great voices . Penelope Cruz has a cool voice . Michelle from Batman Returns as Catwoman she owned the character in all parts her acting , her voice & the look all Amazing .

Arina Grande in Victorious . LOL
I was expecting Eartha Kitt to be number one. Thank you for not disappointing me.

Yyyeeessss!!!! Definitely, I love her
hell all of the golden girls deserved at least a mention
Cree Summer, Eartha Kitt, Kathleen Turner, Shorheh Aghdashloo, Lauren Bacall just amazing breathtaking voices
how the hell did Kristin Chenoweth not make the list
Yes. She has a lovely singing voice, but her speaking voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard.
There were many I was looking to see. Like Sarah Silverman or Wanda Sykes. This list needed a top 50.
I’d like to throw in Wendi malick. Her voice is instantly recognizable and I love the sound of it.
that's exactly what I was thinking as soon as I clicked on this video
Me too she's also recognizable
Yes
I don’t remember what she was in
Burdine Maxwell, the founder, president, editor-in-chief of Your Thing magazine and the reiiiiiiiigning Queen of Fashion! Mother of Pink!
Jane lynch definitely has a voice I recognize instantly 😂
Betty Davis also had an iconic voice.
Very few actors could replicate their voices. For those that passed away, we will forever remember them.
DEBRA WILSON!
Very true
I mean, I was like wondering where's Cher! Like in Moonstruck, Mask, Silkwood, Mermaids, Tea with Mussolini, Burlesque, Suspect... name any movie where she's on it, we can tell Cher is on it with our eyes closed. Her voice is toooo distincted. 💟
She was great in witches of East wick
Sad to not see Tara Strong even honorably mentioned. Easily recognizable and voice a good chunk on my childhood. Kristen Schaal and Eartha Kitt though i was glad to see.
I agree about Tara. Her and Cree were my childhood
Eartha Kitt was my favorite Cat Woman. Her voice made the character so much better😊
Scarlett Johansson, Lauren Bacall and Marilyn Monroe have breathy voices that I would love to have.
I adore Eartha Kitt, she will always be my favorite Catwoman. I loved watching both of the very different Hepburn ladies, and Drew Barrymore can bring a smile to my face every time. But Marilyn has a very special place in my heart.

Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice on "Friends", modeled her exaggerated voice on Fran Drescher. It's a bit of a shock to hear her actual voice in interviews.
Interesting fact...
Maggie was supposed to be Debra on Everybody Loves Raymond and not Patricia.
Maggie still was on the show occasionally.

Jennifer Tilly springs to mind. No other voice like her in the world. You love it or hate it

She has such a strong beautiful voice
I wish she could live forever and play all kinds of characters.

Yes Julie Andrews.

Eartha Kitt was THE Catwoman, loved her (still do)❤
Always loved Eartha Kitt in all her performances.
Tallulah Bankhead had a raspy, sultry tone to her voice.
Another distinctive voice is Wanda Sykes, that is a voice that will stick with you and she is very versatile.
Let's not forget Bea Arthur.
Jenifer Lewis and Loretta Divine Definitely should be on this list
Phyllis Diller. Oh yes!

I'm surprised that Awkwafina was not in this list.
Dolly Parton has a unique voice. Though she is known for her singing career, she has starred in a bunch of movies.
Another great voices from actresses' were: Tallulah Bankhead, Betty Davis and Bea Arthur
Georgia Engel had a sweet soft voice. May she rest in peace.
Missing Grey DeLisle here. I will always recognize her voice. Along with Cree, you could make an episode of just female voice actors.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Maggie Wheeler from “ FRIENDS” or Shannen Doherty cause Tennessee accent shines through from time the way she pronounces certain words and can recognize her voice right off too I love it - and think it’s really cool

Look up The Nanny scene with her eating wasabi. She dropped the nasally voice - for a brief moment. It's awesome.
Yes when CC treat her for sushi, she told her wasabi is like mustard so fran put a lot because she loves mustard.

Parker Posey and Natasha Lyonne have very distinct voices as well.
Also, Linda Hunt. She has an awesome rasp.
Stephanie Beatriz. The voices she did on Brooklyn Nine Nine, plus the voice of Mirabel from Encanto.

Tara strong, Marcia Wallace, Arleen Sorkin....amongst others
