    Hi,
On Approx at 9:00 min into the video you selected 5 objects and said to type the letter 'J', I believe you said and it made it one object but i tried this function but did't work or made any changes. I just wanted to know the Function to the Letter J I could not find any more information. Thank you in advance

"J" triggers the closest join function to update all the entry and exits. The tool is located in the Edit Objects toolbox near the bottom.

thanks for this lesson Lindee, it seems this is in Hatch 1 and in Hatch 2 there are some subtle differences which I couldn't figure out this morning when attempting what needed to be a partial applique design. I had first digitized it without creating a closed shape, and that's where I went wrong trying to get it to be covered on the auto applique. Because I'm also used to how Bernina's software works the auto applique is different in that software because you can do an open shape, and cover it with a closed, then hit the auto applique and it creates those shapes for your printout, which apparently it doesn't do in Hatch v2. I never had v1, so don't know how it worked in that. I have fixed the issue now due to your video lesson, so am very appreciative you'd put this up on youtube for us to create from.

Thanks. Yes, this was done in Hatch 1. Hatch 2 was released a year after I made this video. There are differences between the 2 versions. There's a video in the Hatch Blog on working with the applique in the new version and cutting holes in an applique.

Thanks Lindee for another great tutorial, I learnt so much from this one. Still having a few issues with getting rid of some of the bulk under my design but I will keep working on it. Is there anyway to get an applique back together again once you have broken it apart and reopened the design?

    Why the hot key J??

If I merge 2 applique designs in Hatch is it possible to remove all the overlaps in the merged design? I've not found a tutorial for that yet.
