Up until Part 7, I'd invested in the idea that The World had access to the powers of the Joestar Stands, working into how he used Hermit Purple in Part 3 and somehow fixed Pucci's foot in Part 6. And thus time stop would have been the actual power of Star Platinum, and DIO kept tapping into it because he found it the most useful and worthwhile. Plus that would add to the theme of DIO always taking from the Joestars to propel himself further.

I always thought star Platinums real power was situational development. Like in the fight against strength, star Platinum couldn't move, so he literally adapted to his situation and did something that only Kakyoin's stand could do. And when he fought against Dio, star Platinum adapted to the situation, and that's when he reached the peak of his development potential

I generally believe that Pucci originally was straight before meeting DIO, but was overwhelmed by DIOs charm (which was a huge point in Part 3) that he now wants nobody else but DIO. I feel like thinking of it that way further pushes the idea that DIOs charm is overwhelming for anybody who meets him that he can turn an originally straight guy "gay" (though this gay guy is actually only attracted to DIO)

I’ve literally already read it months ago. I just know I wouldn’t want to know a ton of things about part 6 and that’s kind of a big thing. It’s not a massive spoiler no but it is a spoiler. Like if someone told me that dio was the antagonist of part 3 as I was watching part 2 I would be absolutely pissed and the fact that they said that they wanted to keep it spoiler free and then talked about a character who has 1/3 of his plot revolving around the fact that he knew dio and that his stand is special. You know who white snake is before you know who pucci is if I remember correctly and yeah it’s not the end of the world but it’s frustrating. Imagine someone spoiling who the main antagonist of part 5 was before it was animated. That wouldn’t be the end of the world but it takes away a fun element of watching it. He shouldn’t have said anything if he said “no spoilers” it doesn’t matter if it’s a big or small one it’s just a shitty thing to do right after saying he wasn’t going to do it
There is a theory that originally Araki intended for The World's ability to be about having access to the stand abilities of living Joestars. It has been established that thanks to Jonathan's body Dio had a special connection to all the Joestars, and earlier in SC Dio was shown using what appeared to be Hermit Purple, which fits perfectly into that theory. With this, Dio stopping time later on would've eventually made Jotaro realize that one of the Joestars had that power to stop time.
i much prefer this theory to the theory that Dio's hermit purple like stand is Jonathan's stand. after all of these parts where stands have been a thing, not one of them have been the same. some might have had similar abilities, but there was always a unique twist to them, as well as a unique appearance, so why would Jonathan and Joseph have the same exact stand. not to mention that stands disappear when the users die because they are tied to their soul. his body may be moving around, but Jonathan is still dead. it even fits with Dio's original plan from the start of Part 1, which was to steal Jonathan's fate, making his stand steal and use the other Joestar's abilities makes sense.
Unnamed Protagonist Hamon users gain Hermit Purple, as it is the stand tailor made for hamon practitioners. Jonathan's stand can still manifest because DIO is technically giving life to Jonathan's body, thus, DIO can make use of his stand. The drawback to this is that Jonathan's body can "resist" DIO in some capacity.
Monkey Boy Which wasn't Crazy Diamond. DIO had made several human-animal chimeras back in PB, and through those experiments DIO learned some surgical ability, while at the same time indulging in his powers. This would come to aid him when he needed to attach his head to Jojo's body. DIO also increased in his vampiric abilities in the gap between PB and SC. He gained flesh buds, and his blood upgraded from making zombies to siring vampires. With this in mind, it's possible DIO began to perform abilities similar to the Pillar Men's ability to "phase" through bodies, such as when Esidisi and Wamuu inserted the rings into Joseph. Alternatively, DIO could've used The World, as it has a degree of intangibility as well. Whatever the method, DIO used his abilities to rapidly rearrange Pucci's foot, either through his own impressive speed or time stop. CD wasn't involved in any way.
Joseph came back because magic blood. Josuke's grandpa didn't come back because he was fixed by Crazy Diamond. That's pretty basic to understand. Why did Okuyasu come back from the dead? Fuck knows
Consider: star platinum never really had an ability pre time stop, besides super speed and reaction time (star finger is just manipulation of stand size, like the lovers fight). The peak of speed and reaction is as if time stopped. Time stop is just star platinum's ability evolving.
I subscribe to the theory that Star Platinum's true ability is mimicry of the ancestors. Star finger being a hamon thing and time stop (and later over heaven) because of how DIO fused with Johnathan. Its one of the more outlandish theories, but I like it.
I've once read an awesome fan-theory on Reddit on how Star Platinum could obtain time-stop. Sadly no source but I'm gonna type it anyway: Star Platinums Stand Power could actually be doing things Jotaro expects it to do. That's why it was able to do basically everything in the beginning like grabbing a beer at your local 7-eleven. Fast forward to Avdol beating the shit out of Jotaro. Jotaro would, seeing Avdols ripped MR, expect SP to be a ripped fighter as well. Thus was born Star Platinum Fast forward to the sailor guy and his Stand. Jotaro can't do his normal punching so he expects SP to go mid-range as well. Thus was born Starfinger And now seeing that The World basically can do everything SP can do, but also stop time... you know the drill
Honestly I view The World and Star Platinum being the same stand as a reflection of the struggle between Dio and the Joestars, especially Johnathan. Looking back to when they were young men, both Johnathan and Dio were strong, intelligent, and determine no matter the situation. For people who weren't blood related their physique and aptitudes were very similar. To me, Star Platinum even has a similar appearance to Bruford the zombie Knight that Johnathan gained the respect of. These things seem to lead credence to the idea that Dio (with Jonathan's body) and at least one of the Joestars would end up with the same/similar stand.
Actually I have a theory that Star Platinum's actual ability is a partial ability replication. After his fight with the Tower of Grey, he gets Star Finger, which is very similar to the tongue thing. And after the fight with the fake captain, you get Star Platinum using water in an impossible way to defeat Yellow Temperance. Then during his fight with DIO, he gets time stop.
left this on XForts vid, figured it was also applicable here: a lot of folks hate on stardust crusaders twist (star platinum being able to stop time) personally i think it is an awesome twist that re-contextualizes most of the part, and was foreshadowed enough that it is definetely not a cop out. i mean, DIO learned he could stop time after catching shotgun pellets, and one of the first things we see star platinum do was catch a bullet. Araki knew exactly what he was doing. I mean, it's not like he just decided to randomly evolve the main JoJo's stand to the point where it was just utterly broken and could completely cancel out any other stand, causing the villain to die infinitely because that would be stupid.

Manuel Mateo well not really - the jist that Dio gives us when when he tells us how he learned of The World’s timestopping capabilities; is that he felt himself getting quicker and quicker to catching the pellets - until one time, time had stopped. From this, we can deduce that Dio’s ability isn’t really timestopping - but rather unreal levels of speed and reaction time. Given that both The World and Star Platinum and absurdly fast Stands - one might be able to see how Star Platinum is able to stop time. This would also explain why things appear to be weightless in time-stop; as you are actually exerting an enormous amount of force, due to everything being performed in an instant. Part 2: How the fuck did Joseph set up that mirror in the vampire fight at the start of the series?! Seriously, that's not how mirrors work, the reflect the thing they're facing at. So Joseph's opponent should have been looking at himself when he shot his eye lasers, not at an image of Joseph. What's especially bad is that you have to consider that Joseph not only just happened to find a full-length mirror, he also had to carry it into the building and put it down without his opponent noticing while also making sure it was wide enough to block the ENTIRE side of the room, otherwise it would just cut off the image. Seriously, can someone actually answer this? Because I've been so stumped on how the fuck this is supposed to work ever since I saw Part 2.

That's not really true, Araki's art style has greatly evolved over the course of the years. His characters faces and body types changing a lot from part to part. Plus Iggy while he looked wonky, I don't think we can really be too annoyed with it, he looks good for what he had to be: A very expressive, nearly human in emotions, dog.

Sorry for the late response. Time seemed to speed up for a second. One of the requirements for attaining heaven in part 6 is that there can be no desire for sexual relations. They really were just friends. They could be a couple since DIO is bi but it hasn't been confirmed.

I think DIO and Jotaro are actually quite similar people, thus explaining their Stands' matching powers. I'm going to indulge in a little bit of speculation, so bare with me. For starters, DIO and Jotaro seemed to both have less than ideal fathers. I'm not an expert on the Japanese, but the Kujo home seemed to be larger than average, despite the fact Holly didn't seem to have a job. As we know Jotaro's father is a musician, and the bread-winner in the family, coupled with his absence in Stardust Crusaders, even when Holly is having a flashback to Jotaro being a kid, it's safe to say he's not there for Jotaro, which can be developmentally damaging. Not quite to the same degree as DIO and Dario, but a connection. Next, both are attached to their mothers. Not much to say here, no inference needed. Jotaro clearly cares about his mom, going on a life-threatening journey and all. Both are violent. DIO often used physical force to bully Jonathan, just as Jotaro is known to beat people up. Their Stands are both outlets for this violent urge. Jotaro is not very outwardly expressive of his emotions, similar to how DIO hid his distaste for the Joestars all those years living with them. I'm not an expert on the Japanese or their culture. I'm not going to pretend to be a weeb who, "knows everything about their culture" but I am aware the Japanese are deeply nationalistic, and, to a degree, rascist. As a high-school student, it seems to me to not be unlikely that he was picked on due to being 1/2 British. This explains Jotaro growing a rough exterior to intimidate others. DIO also had to grow tough, as shown early on in his chess match in Phantom Blood. All in all, the thing that makes them different is how they go about these adversities in their life. Araki intentionally makes each antagonist and protagonist opposites, and this is a subtle way to do so. I see Jotaro and DIO as two heads of the same coin, the same in circumstance, but fundamentally different. P.S. Hermit Purple #2 is Jonathan's stand. Prior to completely fusing, DIO basically made Jonathan's body a zombie/vampire, which, as we know can still have stands. As they fuse more and more, his use decreases, as they further merge into one entity. P.P.S. Pucchi's foot is wierd. It's definitely not a Crazy Diamond power because his foot was always like that. Crazy Diamond can't fix moles or other malformities, from what we've seen. P.P.P.S. The flesh bud is a vampire power, fight me.
Michael Hebert To me, the idea behind Pucci's foot is that DIO repaired it using his vampire abilities only. DIO had intense surgical precison, as seen by his ability to create human-animal hybrids in Part 1. DIO's vampiric abilities also developed in the span between PB and SC, examples being his development of flesh buds and his blood upgrading from siring zombies to vampires. It doesn't strike me as a stretch to imagine DIO developed partial phasing powers similar to the Pillar Men, like how Wamuu and Esidisi inserted the rings without wounding Joseph. So, DIO used his vampire abilities to rearrange Pucci's foot, and possibly used blood to seal the wound. Now, if that's the case, Pucci wouldn't be a vampire, since Vanilla Ice only started turning once Polnareff stabbed him through the mouth and brain stem. The Stone Mask works by using acupuncture on the brain, and it appears that a vampire sired by blood only turns when they suffer a grievous brain-related injury. Since this never happens to Pucci at any point, he wouldn't be a vampire.
Dio in the coffin in the hidden bottom section while erina was in the top section with the baby. tbqh he could probably kill them both but he'd risk dying himself

Again with blood relatives having very similar stands you can explain Holly having a stand that looks like very similar to hermit purple being the holly vines. They are essentially the same stand but just look different. This relates to the end of Stardust Crusaders when Holly knows that they are all coming home, she has the similar ability as her father to read minds or have some sort of psychological ability. Clearly though she doesn’t have the fighting spirit needed to materialize her stand but still has the stand ability, yet very much weaker to a point where she doesn’t even realize it, also explaining why she can see other stands. Having a stand ability without actually having an materialized stand is very possible and quite common as Jotaro used Star Platinum during the game with D’arby to see the cards without actually materializing him. Same with the thing Araki said about Joseph having the Hermit Purple ability when he was younger but it never materialized as Jonathan’s body hadn’t set the signal out yet to awaken stands, “awaken” meaning they were always there, just not active.
7:26 spoilers about Jotaro's "fate" as said during this time So with the stand that is a manga that tells the future, it says Jotaro's head will be cut in half. During bites the dust, we see Jotaro's head would have been cut in half. When fighting Pucci, Jotaro's head is actually cut in half. How's that for fate?
My take about the first Plot Hole with Resurrections: All individuals that was shown to have been revived are Stand Users, Josuke's grandpa was not one. When people die, their souls go to heaven, but Stand Users seem to have the ability to stay tethered into the world. Reimi Sugimoto was a ghost on the mortal world but she was bound to the alleyway, a veil between Life and Death. Kira's father however was a Stand User, and was able to move around the mortal world pretty easily. When Okayasu went to heaven, his brother asked him if he wants to join him or stay; this seems to be turning point of spirits, but Stand Users look like they are able to be brought back if their bodies are still "alive". Holes in my theory:

Jotaro overpowered the stand. As we know when a stand dies, so does the user. The World isn't a vampire like DIO is, it's a stand, so it's susceptible to being killed.
I never saw it as Dio's stand being destroyed because of the leg specifically, I've just seen it as Jotaro being stronger, and managing to destroy it with force
I think that the "Same type of Stand" thing makes sense because, as it was stated, some users do have very similar stands, but more importantly, every stand has an ability besides beating shit up. Magician's Red had fire, Chariot had extremely fast swordsmanship, Josuke had restoration, and so on. What was SP's main ability throughout most of part 3? Just beating shit up. I kind of thought that Jotaro would get another ability while I was watching Crusaders. (I mean, you could say Star Finger is his ability, but maybe DIO realized how fucking disgusting it was and didn't use it)
Heres another idea for pucci. Part 4s killer queen has bites the dust, an ability to rewind time. Its been theorized that it doesnt rewind time but instead places them in an alternate time line (you did a video on this i think). Pucci may have not existed in the time line berfore part 4. Thus making sense as to why pucci was never mentioned or anything.
When they introduced the nine Egyptian god stands in part 3 I noticed something... off... They introduced them with the speedwagon foundation saying that they saw nine people leaving one of Dio’s presumed places of hiding right? One was a bird and one was a sword.
When J Geil reflected onto Polnareff's eye, all Polnareff had to do was blink once to kill him since there were no other reflective surfaces for him to jump to in the middle of the desert. Instead Polnareff somehow managed to run what looked like around a kilometer to the little village without blinking a single time which allowed J Geil to reflect onto the eye of one of his victims.
Don't forget that DIO and Joseph also shares the same Stand. DIO shared the Stand abilities of two Joestar's Stands. I don't think that's so far-fetched or an asspull. Even Holy and Josuke's Stand's can be theorized to relate back to DIO and Jonathan's essence such as Crazy Diamond performing some sort of time-reversion or Holy's Stand acting like a vampiric leech in form of vegetation that's used to symbolize Jonathan and Joseph.
Joseph needs some sort of a connection to whatever he takes spirit photos of. He can take photos of people he’s related to, which was how he was able to get pictures of DIO and attempted to get a picture of Josuke. Electricity would’ve been the connection to finding out who RHCP’s user was. Joseph had no connection to Kira.
JoGeJo Stand users were interfering with the spirit images. Perhaps if Joseph was younger with Hermit Purple he’d be more efficient with it. But let’s say he could use Hermit Purple to find Kira, because Kira changed his identity and keeps a very low profile, not only is his stands aura going to be weaker than everybody else’s, but he doesn’t know what to find. He might end up getting spirit photos of every other stand user in morioh-cho, likely someone like Josuke, Koichi, and Jotaro because their stands energy are the strongest and most active. Another good explanation is in hamon beats debunking Araki forgot video, which is most of what I said too
And as for why he got Angelo is probably because he’s been using his stand a lot to kill people while Josuke only used his whenever someone dissed his hair until he fought Angelo. Everybody else either rarely used their stands as well or hadn’t fully manifested their stands after getting shot by Keicho.
I was always thinking that if part 3 were to be rewritten, here's how I would solve some of these issues: -Star Platinum: The World: I always thought it did seem like an asspull that Star Platinum had the same ability of The World, and while it may make sense in retrospect a casual-new audience wouldn't see it this way. So, what if Star Platinum: The World was a requiem ability? As in, the find the arrow on Enyaba after the justice arc? They take the arrow (obviously curious why an old woman is carrying around an arrow. Maybe they test it on something) and Jotaro keeps it on his person. During the beginning of the fight, Jotaro is so outmatched that he stabs himself with the arrow on the slim chance that it could help him. Since requiems give you an ability specific to the situation, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Star Platinum would gain the same ability as The World to counter it. Of course it would still kind of seem like an asspull that the arrow could grant an additional ability, but it makes sense within the logic of the universe. -Joseph's blood: I don't think him being brought back to life is a problem, but why isn't he a vampire? I mean, how do you separate the vampire and his own blood when it's been circulating Dio's body for a while. So there's two solutions: Joseph turns into a vampire but doesn't give in to the temptations that Dio does, or Joseph dies. He isn't THAT necessary in the future plot besides the initial spirit photos that Jotaro has at the beginning of part 4, but he would go to Morioh anyway to talk about inheritance. Although you would miss out on some sweet father-son moments in part 4. -Holly Why don't the Joestars lose their stands after Holly does when Dio was defeated? Well, my change would be that while DIO's presence does give the Joestar bloodline their stands initially, but also amplifies their power (also giving a working explanation as to why Jotaro would be able to stand against a vampire in a fisticuffs match) to the point where Holly can't control her own stand. This means that once Dio dies, all the Joestars can keep their stands but also accounts for the power nerf Jotaro receives at the beginning of Part 4.
Holly didn't have a fighting spirit like Jotaro, and Joseph. Josuke was sick as well because of Dio awakening their stands, but he grew a fighting spirit so he could use his stand, it's like Koichi. As for Giorno his hair turned golden at the age of 4 due to his odd circumstances of birth, and Jolyne just wasn't born yet when Dio got stabbed by the arrow.

I think it's the same deal that Dio uses spirit photos of Hermit Purple with The World. I think The World is the combination of All Joestar Stands. Jotaro just didn't know he could stop time cuz he just unlocked his stand roughly 2 months ago but Dio had his 6 months. This is most logical explanation for me and it makes sense, hence Dio using Hermit Purple's abilities. But I wish Araki really came up with a explanation 😑
For the death plothole He simply had no blood and needed a start up, something real humans have come back from even after 20 minutes Josuke's family member was ripped up from the inside and had his soul already leave (Josephs may not have even left since jotaro says "w-was I seeing things" so yeah)

A theory I've seen is that The World simply had the ability to copy others stands, hense why it used Hermit Purple in the beginning of SC, and Time Stop was actually Star Platinum's original ability. Just a theory though.

so i actually have a really good theory for that last one, when jotaro says he has the same type of stand as dio, he is referring to the fact that it is a close range warrior stand similar to star platinum, and crazy diamond. at this time he didnt know about his capabilities to move in the world. So now to the explanation, when we look at all of the jostar generations and their stands we find that; jonathan:vine, stand joseph:vine stand, holly:vine stand jotaro:warrior stand, josuke:warrior stand, jolyne:a mix of the two. therefore the only 2 with the same TYPE of stand as dio is jotaro and josuke, but josuke has a develepment potential of C so star platinum is connected to dio through the jostar bloodline, and the fact that it are the only other stand in the jostar bloodline similar enough to have the same powers as the world because of this star platinum can do anything the world can because i believe that when dio established that link between jostars he established a link between him, and thr only person similar to him. this also explains why jotaro uses over heaven in eyes in heaven.
Dio: actively trying to grow his stand for months Jotaro: travelled across the world where he only uses his stand in fights and doesn't grow his stand and doesn't think to stop time until he saw someone else do it
I'm fine with any and all "plot holes" in this and xforts' video, as I didn't really care about much of them and they were pretty much all explained. My gripe is this: There were so many Stand users sent by DIO after the Stardust Crusaders, yet they almost always fought only 1 or 2 at a time. Wouldn't it just be MUCH easier to send them all out at once? There wouldn't be any easy way to defeat the many number of all the Stand users, if they all fought them at once. DIO, you have an army of Stand users, what's the best idea? Send them out to fight 1 at a time. That strategy is about as useless as funnelling an army to fight down a single narrow corridor. This Part is great, but my god, the logic behind DIO astounds me.
They explain this. The multiple assassins are competing among themselves for the bounty on the Joestars, and they refuse to work together so as to not expose their stand abilities. The majority of them are sadistic career criminal assholes, so it stands to reason they'd be naturally distrustful.
The reason DIO becomes insane during the final fight. DIO isn't actually insane, we can see that while he is extremely cocky, he's still smart, like when he almost hit Joseph's hamon body, only to use a knife. He only started to reach insanity when he sucked Joseph's blood and reached a new "high". His power boost had given him an immense ego as well as a slight bit of insanity. How ironic that it's due to this arrogancr that he died to Jotaro, much like when he was beaten by Jonathan.
josuke's grandfather died because the brain was destroyed. After getting your brain destroyed you should not be able to gain conciousness again. Joseph survived.
Star Platinum did have an A in Development Potential, and Enyaba told DIO that if he just believed he could, he could stop time. And as mentioned, both share Joestar Blood so their Stands very well could've been similar, as shown with the D'Arby brothers. Maybe the reason Joseph couldn't do time stop was because of the Hamon causing Hermit Purple to manifest.

Up until Part 7, I'd invested in the idea that The World had access to the powers of the Joestar Stands, working into how he used Hermit Purple in Part 3 and somehow fixed Pucci's foot in Part 6. And thus time stop would have been the actual power of Star Platinum, and DIO kept tapping into it because he found it the most useful and worthwhile. Plus that would add to the theme of DIO always taking from the Joestars to propel himself further.

I’ve literally already read it months ago. I just know I wouldn’t want to know a ton of things about part 6 and that’s kind of a big thing. It’s not a massive spoiler no but it is a spoiler. Like if someone told me that dio was the antagonist of part 3 as I was watching part 2 I would be absolutely pissed and the fact that they said that they wanted to keep it spoiler free and then talked about a character who has 1/3 of his plot revolving around the fact that he knew dio and that his stand is special. You know who white snake is before you know who pucci is if I remember correctly and yeah it’s not the end of the world but it’s frustrating. Imagine someone spoiling who the main antagonist of part 5 was before it was animated. That wouldn’t be the end of the world but it takes away a fun element of watching it. He shouldn’t have said anything if he said “no spoilers” it doesn’t matter if it’s a big or small one it’s just a shitty thing to do right after saying he wasn’t going to do it

There is a theory that originally Araki intended for The World's ability to be about having access to the stand abilities of living Joestars. It has been established that thanks to Jonathan's body Dio had a special connection to all the Joestars, and earlier in SC Dio was shown using what appeared to be Hermit Purple, which fits perfectly into that theory. With this, Dio stopping time later on would've eventually made Jotaro realize that one of the Joestars had that power to stop time.
i much prefer this theory to the theory that Dio's hermit purple like stand is Jonathan's stand. after all of these parts where stands have been a thing, not one of them have been the same. some might have had similar abilities, but there was always a unique twist to them, as well as a unique appearance, so why would Jonathan and Joseph have the same exact stand. not to mention that stands disappear when the users die because they are tied to their soul. his body may be moving around, but Jonathan is still dead. it even fits with Dio's original plan from the start of Part 1, which was to steal Jonathan's fate, making his stand steal and use the other Joestar's abilities makes sense.
Unnamed Protagonist Hamon users gain Hermit Purple, as it is the stand tailor made for hamon practitioners. Jonathan's stand can still manifest because DIO is technically giving life to Jonathan's body, thus, DIO can make use of his stand. The drawback to this is that Jonathan's body can "resist" DIO in some capacity.

Monkey Boy Which wasn't Crazy Diamond. DIO had made several human-animal chimeras back in PB, and through those experiments DIO learned some surgical ability, while at the same time indulging in his powers. This would come to aid him when he needed to attach his head to Jojo's body. DIO also increased in his vampiric abilities in the gap between PB and SC. He gained flesh buds, and his blood upgraded from making zombies to siring vampires. With this in mind, it's possible DIO began to perform abilities similar to the Pillar Men's ability to "phase" through bodies, such as when Esidisi and Wamuu inserted the rings into Joseph. Alternatively, DIO could've used The World, as it has a degree of intangibility as well. Whatever the method, DIO used his abilities to rapidly rearrange Pucci's foot, either through his own impressive speed or time stop. CD wasn't involved in any way.

Consider: star platinum never really had an ability pre time stop, besides super speed and reaction time (star finger is just manipulation of stand size, like the lovers fight). The peak of speed and reaction is as if time stopped. Time stop is just star platinum's ability evolving.

I subscribe to the theory that Star Platinum's true ability is mimicry of the ancestors. Star finger being a hamon thing and time stop (and later over heaven) because of how DIO fused with Johnathan. Its one of the more outlandish theories, but I like it.

Honestly I view The World and Star Platinum being the same stand as a reflection of the struggle between Dio and the Joestars, especially Johnathan. Looking back to when they were young men, both Johnathan and Dio were strong, intelligent, and determine no matter the situation. For people who weren't blood related their physique and aptitudes were very similar. To me, Star Platinum even has a similar appearance to Bruford the zombie Knight that Johnathan gained the respect of. These things seem to lead credence to the idea that Dio (with Jonathan's body) and at least one of the Joestars would end up with the same/similar stand.

Actually I have a theory that Star Platinum's actual ability is a partial ability replication. After his fight with the Tower of Grey, he gets Star Finger, which is very similar to the tongue thing. And after the fight with the fake captain, you get Star Platinum using water in an impossible way to defeat Yellow Temperance. Then during his fight with DIO, he gets time stop.

a lot of folks hate on stardust crusaders twist (star platinum being able to stop time) personally i think it is an awesome twist that re-contextualizes most of the part, and was foreshadowed enough that it is definetely not a cop out. i mean, DIO learned he could stop time after catching shotgun pellets, and one of the first things we see star platinum do was catch a bullet. Araki knew exactly what he was doing.
I mean, it's not like he just decided to randomly evolve the main JoJo's stand to the point where it was just utterly broken and could completely cancel out any other stand, causing the villain to die infinitely because that would be stupid.

Manuel Mateo well not really - the jist that Dio gives us when when he tells us how he learned of The World’s timestopping capabilities; is that he felt himself getting quicker and quicker to catching the pellets - until one time, time had stopped.
From this, we can deduce that Dio’s ability isn’t really timestopping - but rather unreal levels of speed and reaction time. Given that both The World and Star Platinum and absurdly fast Stands - one might be able to see how Star Platinum is able to stop time.
This would also explain why things appear to be weightless in time-stop; as you are actually exerting an enormous amount of force, due to everything being performed in an instant.

Part 1 has plotholes? The story's so short and simple I don't think there'd be any.
Part 2: How the fuck did Joseph set up that mirror in the vampire fight at the start of the series?! Seriously, that's not how mirrors work, the reflect the thing they're facing at. So Joseph's opponent should have been looking at himself when he shot his eye lasers, not at an image of Joseph. What's especially bad is that you have to consider that Joseph not only just happened to find a full-length mirror, he also had to carry it into the building and put it down without his opponent noticing while also making sure it was wide enough to block the ENTIRE side of the room, otherwise it would just cut off the image.
Seriously, can someone actually answer this? Because I've been so stumped on how the fuck this is supposed to work ever since I saw Part 2.

That's not really true, Araki's art style has greatly evolved over the course of the years. His characters faces and body types changing a lot from part to part. I think DIO and Jotaro are actually quite similar people, thus explaining their Stands' matching powers. I'm going to indulge in a little bit of speculation, so bare with me.
For starters, DIO and Jotaro seemed to both have less than ideal fathers. I'm not an expert on the Japanese, but the Kujo home seemed to be larger than average, despite the fact Holly didn't seem to have a job. As we know Jotaro's father is a musician, and the bread-winner in the family, coupled with his absence in Stardust Crusaders, even when Holly is having a flashback to Jotaro being a kid, it's safe to say he's not there for Jotaro, which can be developmentally damaging. Not quite to the same degree as DIO and Dario, but a connection.
Next, both are attached to their mothers. Not much to say here, no inference needed. Jotaro clearly cares about his mom, going on a life-threatening journey and all.
Both are violent. DIO often used physical force to bully Jonathan, just as Jotaro is known to beat people up. Their Stands are both outlets for this violent urge. Jotaro is not very outwardly expressive of his emotions, similar to how DIO hid his distaste for the Joestars all those years living with them.
I'm not an expert on the Japanese or their culture. I'm not going to pretend to be a weeb who, "knows everything about their culture" but I am aware the Japanese are deeply nationalistic, and, to a degree, rascist. As a high-school student, it seems to me to not be unlikely that he was picked on due to being 1/2 British. This explains Jotaro growing a rough exterior to intimidate others. DIO also had to grow tough, as shown early on in his chess match in Phantom Blood.
All in all, the thing that makes them different is how they go about these adversities in their life. Araki intentionally makes each antagonist and protagonist opposites, and this is a subtle way to do so. I see Jotaro and DIO as two heads of the same coin, the same in circumstance, but fundamentally different.
P.S. Hermit Purple #2 is Jonathan's stand. Prior to completely fusing, DIO basically made Jonathan's body a zombie/vampire, which, as we know can still have stands. As they fuse more and more, his use decreases, as they further merge into one entity.
P.P.S. Pucchi's foot is wierd. It's definitely not a Crazy Diamond power because his foot was always like that. Crazy Diamond can't fix moles or other malformities, from what we've seen.

Michael Hebert To me, the idea behind Pucci's foot is that DIO repaired it using his vampire abilities only. DIO had intense surgical precison, as seen by his ability to create human-animal hybrids in Part 1. DIO's vampiric abilities also developed in the span between PB and SC, examples being his development of flesh buds and his blood upgrading from siring zombies to vampires. It doesn't strike me as a stretch to imagine DIO developed partial phasing powers similar to the Pillar Men, like how Wamuu and Esidisi inserted the rings without wounding Joseph. So, DIO used his vampire abilities to rearrange Pucci's foot, and possibly used blood to seal the wound. Now, if that's the case, Pucci wouldn't be a vampire, since Vanilla Ice only started turning once Polnareff stabbed him through the mouth and brain stem. The Stone Mask works by using acupuncture on the brain, and it appears that a vampire sired by blood only turns when they suffer a grievous brain-related injury. Since this never happens to Pucci at any point, he wouldn't be a vampire.

That's just my guess. It was pretty chaotic at that point so anything is possible.
Again with blood relatives having very similar stands you can explain Holly having a stand that looks like very similar to hermit purple being the holly vines. They are essentially the same stand but just look different. This relates to the end of Stardust Crusaders when Holly knows that they are all coming home, she has the similar ability as her father to read minds or have some sort of psychological ability. Clearly though she doesn’t have the fighting spirit needed to materialize her stand but still has the stand ability, yet very much weaker to a point where she doesn’t even realize it, also explaining why she can see other stands. Having a stand ability without actually having an materialized stand is very possible and quite common as Jotaro used Star Platinum during the game with D’arby to see the cards without actually materializing him. Same with the thing Araki said about Joseph having the Hermit Purple ability when he was younger but it never materialized as Jonathan’s body hadn’t set the signal out yet to awaken stands, “awaken” meaning they were always there, just not active.
There's also the whole theory that Star Platinum's real ability is whatever Jotaro believes it can do

My take about the first Plot Hole with Resurrections:
All individuals that was shown to have been revived are Stand Users, Josuke's grandpa was not one. When people die, their souls go to heaven, but Stand Users seem to have the ability to stay tethered into the world.
Reimi Sugimoto was a ghost on the mortal world but she was bound to the alleyway, a veil between Life and Death. Kira's father however was a Stand User, and was able to move around the mortal world pretty easily. When Okayasu went to heaven, his brother asked him if he wants to join him or stay; this seems to be turning point of spirits, but Stand Users look like they are able to be brought back if their bodies are still "alive".

The thing with the stands being the same for the bloodline is how unique Hermit Purple is (and Holly’s stand)
I think that the "Same type of Stand" thing makes sense because, as it was stated, some users do have very similar stands, but more importantly, every stand has an ability besides beating shit up. Magician's Red had fire, Chariot had extremely fast swordsmanship, Josuke had restoration, and so on. What was SP's main ability throughout most of part 3? Just beating shit up. I kind of thought that Jotaro would get another ability while I was watching Crusaders.
(I mean, you could say Star Finger is his ability, but maybe DIO realized how fucking disgusting it was and didn't use it)

Heres another idea for pucci. Part 4s killer queen has bites the dust, an ability to rewind time. Its been theorized that it doesnt rewind time but instead places them in an alternate time line (you did a video on this i think). Pucci may have not existed in the time line berfore part 4. Thus making sense as to why pucci was never mentioned or anything.

When J Geil reflected onto Polnareff's eye, all Polnareff had to do was blink once to kill him since there were no other reflective surfaces for him to jump to in the middle of the desert. Instead Polnareff somehow managed to run what looked like around a kilometer to the little village without blinking a single time which allowed J Geil to reflect onto the eye of one of his victims.
Don't forget that DIO and Joseph also shares the same Stand. DIO shared the Stand abilities of two Joestar's Stands. I don't think that's so far-fetched or an asspull. Even Holy and Josuke's Stand's can be theorized to relate back to DIO and Jonathan's essence such as Crazy Diamond performing some sort of time-reversion or Holy's Stand acting like a vampiric leech in form of vegetation that's used to symbolize Jonathan and Joseph.
The biggest plot hole was in part 4,

Joseph needs some sort of a connection to whatever he takes spirit photos of. He can take photos of people he’s related to, which was how he was able to get pictures of DIO and attempted to get a picture of Josuke. Electricity would’ve been the connection to finding out who RHCP’s user was. Joseph had no connection to Kira.

JoGeJo Stand users were interfering with the spirit images. Perhaps if Joseph was younger with Hermit Purple he’d be more efficient with it. But let’s say he could use Hermit Purple to find Kira, because Kira changed his identity and keeps a very low profile, not only is his stands aura going to be weaker than everybody else’s, but he doesn’t know what to find. He might end up getting spirit photos of every other stand user in morioh-cho, likely someone like Josuke, Koichi, and Jotaro because their stands energy are the strongest and most active.
Another good explanation is in hamon beats debunking Araki forgot video, which is most of what I said too
And as for why he got Angelo is probably because he’s been using his stand a lot to kill people while Josuke only used his whenever someone dissed his hair until he fought Angelo. Everybody else either rarely used their stands as well or hadn’t fully manifested their stands after getting shot by Keicho.

I was always thinking that if part 3 were to be rewritten, here's how I would solve some of these issues:
-Star Platinum: The World:
I always thought it did seem like an asspull that Star Platinum had the same ability of The World, and while it may make sense in retrospect a casual-new audience wouldn't see it this way. So, what if Star Platinum: The World was a requiem ability? As in, the find the arrow on Enyaba after the justice arc? They take the arrow (obviously curious why an old woman is carrying around an arrow. Maybe they test it on something) and Jotaro keeps it on his person. During the beginning of the fight, Jotaro is so outmatched that he stabs himself with the arrow on the slim chance that it could help him. Since requiems give you an ability specific to the situation, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Star Platinum would gain the same ability as The World to counter it. Of course it would still kind of seem like an asspull that the arrow could grant an additional ability, but it makes sense within the logic of the universe.
-Joseph's blood:
I don't think him being brought back to life is a problem, but why isn't he a vampire? I mean, how do you separate the vampire and his own blood when it's been circulating Dio's body for a while. So there's two solutions: Joseph turns into a vampire but doesn't give in to the temptations that Dio does, or Joseph dies. He isn't THAT necessary in the future plot besides the initial spirit photos that Jotaro has at the beginning of part 4, but he would go to Morioh anyway to talk about inheritance. Although you would miss out on some sweet father-son moments in part 4.
-Holly
Why don't the Joestars lose their stands after Holly does when Dio was defeated? Well, my change would be that while DIO's presence does give the Joestar bloodline their stands initially, but also amplifies their power (also giving a working explanation as to why Jotaro would be able to stand against a vampire in a fisticuffs match) to the point where Holly can't control her own stand. This means that once Dio dies, all the Joestars can keep their stands but also accounts for the power nerf Jotaro receives at the beginning of Part 4.
Holly didn't have a fighting spirit like Jotaro, and Joseph. Josuke was sick as well because of Dio awakening their stands, but he grew a fighting spirit so he could use his stand, it's like Koichi. As for Giorno his hair turned golden at the age of 4 due to his odd circumstances of birth, and Jolyne just wasn't born yet when Dio got stabbed by the arrow.

I think it's the same deal that Dio uses spirit photos of Hermit Purple with The World. I think The World is the combination of All Joestar Stands. Jotaro just didn't know he could stop time cuz he just unlocked his stand roughly 2 months ago but Dio had his 6 months. This is most logical explanation for me and it makes sense, hence Dio using Hermit Purple's abilities. But I wish Araki really came up with a explanation 😑

Well Jotaro did say he was seeing things, but Polnareff saw the same thing happen with Avdol and Iggy's souls I believe.

A theory I've seen is that The World simply had the ability to copy others stands, hense why it used Hermit Purple in the beginning of SC, and Time Stop was actually Star Platinum's original ability. Just a theory though.

so i actually have a really good theory for that last one, when jotaro says he has the same type of stand as dio, he is referring to the fact that it is a close range warrior stand similar to star platinum, and crazy diamond. at this time he didnt know about his capabilities to move in the world. So now to the explanation, when we look at all of the jostar generations and their stands we find that; jonathan:vine, stand joseph:vine stand, holly:vine stand jotaro:warrior stand, josuke:warrior stand, jolyne:a mix of the two. therefore the only 2 with the same TYPE of stand as dio is jotaro and josuke, but josuke has a develepment potential of C so star platinum is connected to dio through the jostar bloodline, and the fact that it are the only other stand in the jostar bloodline similar enough to have the same powers as the world because of this star platinum can do anything the world can because i believe that when dio established that link between jostars he established a link between him, and thr only person similar to him. this also explains why jotaro uses over heaven in eyes in heaven.

I'm fine with any and all "plot holes" in this and xforts' video, as I didn't really care about much of them and they were pretty much all explained. My gripe is this:
There were so many Stand users sent by DIO after the Stardust Crusaders, yet they almost always fought only 1 or 2 at a time. Wouldn't it just be MUCH easier to send them all out at once? There wouldn't be any easy way to defeat the many number of all the Stand users, if they all fought them at once. DIO, you have an army of Stand users, what's the best idea? Send them out to fight 1 at a time. That strategy is about as useless as funnelling an army to fight down a single narrow corridor.
This Part is great, but my god, the logic behind DIO astounds me.
It makes sense, because when he threw away his humanity, He lost all limits. Including the ones on his stupidity...

They explain this. The multiple assassins are competing among themselves for the bounty on the Joestars, and they refuse to work together so as to not expose their stand abilities. The majority of them are sadistic career criminal assholes, so it stands to reason they'd be naturally distrustful.

The reason DIO becomes insane during the final fight.
DIO isn't actually insane, we can see that while he is extremely cocky, he's still smart, like when he almost hit Joseph's hamon body, only to use a knife.
He only started to reach insanity when he sucked Joseph's blood and reached a new "high". His power boost had given him an immense ego as well as a slight bit of insanity. How ironic that it's due to this arrogancr that he died to Jotaro, much like when he was beaten by Jonathan.
I think Joseph was able to come back because of his will. Like how late in part 4 Okuyasu came back

Star Platinum did have an A in Development Potential, and Enyaba told DIO that if he just believed he could, he could stop time. And as mentioned, both share Joestar Blood so their Stands very well could've been similar, as shown with the D'Arby brothers. Maybe the reason Joseph couldn't do time stop was because of the Hamon causing Hermit Purple to manifest.
