Thanks for checking out this build. There were some ups and downs on this one but it turned out pretty good.
Hell! I like the sleeker bolster/handle profile 🤘
@@mcrich1978 it turned out pretty nice actually. This would be perfect for a woman too since they tend to like slimmer handles.
there's "ups and downs" to everything lol.
Denis, gotta say that watching you miss on a forge weld is such a relief to us - more novice - knife makers. Blade still came out amazing, and your design improvisation is cool to see!
Knifemaking is just a series of problem solving adventures. It's not about what you can do, it's about how you respond to problems. 😜
Well hell. Unforseen problems expertly handled. Congratulations on your dagger build win.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching the builds!
Beautiful job...im glad you fixed the problem with the forgeweld
Yeah I wasn’t liking the delam at all. It looks much better now. 👍
Hell yeah! Good job man! The competition wasn't even close!
Thanks Che. I appreciate you following along.
Great save, beautiful handle material.
Thanks for checking it out!
Knife came out beautiful, Denis! After following you for so long, I instantly knew that you weren't going to leave any flaws !!! Lol! That's why you are one of my favorite Blade Smith's! Thanks for sharing, my brother! 😎👍🏻🔨🔥🗡️
Thanks, Bob! I appreciate you!
Beautiful, and good on you for not settling with the bolster delamination - much better to adapt it into something else (even if it wasn't the first intention) than to let near enough be good enough.
I do think the final outcome is quite nice. Thanks for watching.
You had to make some tough decisions, but I appreciate your integrity. Thank you for showing the process, of working through the hiccups, it helps with though process and resolving those with a finished awesome looking knife!
Thanks so much for checking it out!
You do beautiful work! That wood handle is spectacularly pretty!
That's from my guy Oleg, he has the best handle material. Thanks for watching!
You're a machine man! Been busy!
It was supposed to be a Journeyman knife but I decided against using this one. I’m already working on a batch of hunting knives for Blade. 👍
Good call on the bolster!! We don’t make mistakes, just smaller knives!! 😂
So true! It feels really good now at least. Thanks for watching
Spectacular Carving Knife !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching, Jerry!
Still turned out slicy! Oleg puts out great material.
Oleg’s handle material is amazing! Thanks for checking it out.
It turned out beautiful. Thanks for showing us how you deal with problems.
Thanks for watching, Stephen!
Another beautiful knife, love your work mate!
Thanks for checking out this build, Luke!
Sometimes a piece of Steel just does not want to do what you wanted to do that's when you figure out you have to let it be what it wants to be Oleg never disappoints on the handle material
That is so tru, David. Sometimes you just gotta let it be. Oleg’s material is 🔥🔥!
you’re so awesome! i love seeing these integral bolster builds and this one really came out beautiful. i wonder if you’ve seen any of salem straub’s integral work, he has some really genius ways of putting in the bolster that works really well on his damascus billets and might have helped some of the problems you had with this knife. he pretty much just adds the bolster in later in the process so it doesn’t get in the way. love the build, keep up the great work!
Salem is incredible! I watch all his builds. Very inspirational!
I love your blades they are beautiful
Thanks for following along, Gary!
Great knife! I agree it looks better with the thinner bolsters; I was a little concerned they were too heavy from the start even though I knew they would be ground down.
Thanks for checking it out, Steve
I can't wait to get my new order from Oleg. I've got an integral bolster hidden tang build set up for one of them.
Nice! I live integral bolsters knives but they do give you some pause on your order of operation. 😜
Good job with your win!
Thanks for watching!
Remember Denis, we don't make mistakes, just smaller knives! Jokes aside, looks awesome and good save!
Too true, Bjorn! It worked out in the end. Thanks for watching
Another knife that turned out amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for checking it out, Stephen!
That handle looks like is made of fire from the depths of....
It;s a Beautiful knife.
Yeah that handle material from Oleg is 🤩. Thanks for watching!
That is a beautiful knife !!! You said you would show an integral bolster and how it is made great job. What I like is the way you find a problem and work around it to make a beautiful knife. I actually like the thinner bolster better it gives it a slimmer and lighter faster look. Thanks for again sharing the great work you do.
Thanks so much, Debra! I did have a woman’s hand in mind when I put the final handle on it because it was a nice thin profile and handle.
Amazing Knife !!
Thanks for checking it out, Sucharith.
Absolute beauty!!
Thanks for taking a look, Armen!
this knife channel took a hard turn towards practical, unadorned builds where function dictates form; and i'm fascinated by the progression towards flared handles as a simple & elegant way of keeping the knife in the hand under hard use. a knife is only as good as the handle allows it to be. the tool has to be good @ the job & the handle is what makes that happen; great stuff as always.
This build WAS going to be one of my Journeyman knives but I decided against using it. Now that my JS knives are done, it’s back to my regular builds. 👍
Came out good, despite the difficulties. Personally not a big fan of most bolsters that go directly from gray steel to handle material. I would've loved to see a small spacer in between. Bronze or blued steel, or another wood sort would've given it that extra "oomph". Keep up the fantastic work, and once again congratulations on the dagger challenge!
I was thinking of etching abs doing this blade in coffee. I still might. That would set it off nicely. Thanks for watching
I'm generally ok with thinner handles on most culinary knives as half my customers have dainty hands, the rest are normal people and 1 in a 100 will be some kind of bigfoot creature that needs something out of the ordinary. With a cosmetic delam like that, could have been a chance to drag out the engraver and make it into a pattern if you'd caught it while its softer.
But hey, you got a recovery out of it with just some more grinding so it all works out
Yeah I think it worked out well. It still feels great in the hand. Thanks for watching, Kris!
Good call getting rid of the delam and not selling it with it in there. I think what you ended up with looks better than I imagine the other would have anyway. But then again, all your stuff looks great.
Yeah, I don't like sub-standard work. "Good enough" is the enemy of perfection. 😜
Beautiful knife Tyrell :D
PS: I was wondering in a future video if you could make a *Damascus 100 Layer Bowie* ? :D
I have a damascus build coming up soon. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching
Fullering dies will pull that heel down nicely! I’m pretty sure I’m gonna pull the trigger on a Revolution grinder. I’d like to have two grinders. Cause ya know I need two grinders so bad!😂🤷🏼♂️
Haha, I’ve been thinking the same thing but I just don’t have the room! 😕
Mr Perfect did it again!!!
Haha, can you please tell my wife that? 🤣
A bob ross knife, a happy little accident so I'll make a carving knife :) Beautiful knife
I get that Bob Ross reference a lot... I don't even have a perm haircut. LOL. Thanks for watching.
Love that knife when is it going on sale and how much I really want the Honor of owning that
This one will be for sale at Blade show. If it doesn’t sell it’ll go up to Patreon members first then to the public a week later. 👍
Even your screw ups are masterpieces!
Thanks for watching!
It turned out sharp looking I don't know how it feels but I don't think you will have any trouble selling it
It feels pretty good in the hand. It would be great for a pinch-grip, not that you’ll use that on a carving knife though. 😜. Thanks for watching, Bill!
have you ever used sandalwood for knife handler. I handle at work sandalwood and would like a hunting knife with sandalwood handler

Спасибо, что следите за каналом и смотрите!
In hindsight do you think it would of been better to draw it out first then forge the bolster on ? Then it wouldn’t get in the way Interested if you think that would be better
It’s better to get it all forge welded first in case that has issues you have steel to use to make corrections. Thanks for watching, Robert
Ok just ordered the same set up. Only ordered 1 Incinerator Belt tho. How long does a Incinerator Belt last you? I've seen a few videos talking them up over 3Money belts. As always Tyrell you are a knife wizard lol
The incinerators last a long time. I’ve done 6 knives with one belt before. Thanks for watching
Hello, I'm new to ur videos and am loving them! Was just wondering what a "bolster" is really even for on a knife??
The bolster is just a transition point from the ricasso (area just after the blade) to the handle. On kitchen knives, it’s generally where you would hold the knife when slicing. Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel!
@@TyrellKnifeworks Thanks for the reply! I pray prosperity over you and your business, in the Mighty Name of Jesus! You make some amazing stuff man! I thank God that He made you, so that we get to see the exquisite craftsmanship that flows from your hands! Have a good one brotha!
A small v grove and using the Tig welder could have saved it.
Maybe, but doubtful. Once these things fail to forge weld they are usually toast. Most times it’s better to cut your losses and move on. Thanks for watching.
can you make a knife from a cylinder liner?
I'm not sure what you mean by a "cylinder liner". Cylinder liner from what?
@@TyrellKnifeworks cylinder liners are steel shaped like tubes found in cars. piston rim in car engine,
like this video ruclips.net/video/zA_19bHxEYg/видео.html
I wouldn’t call that a carving knife as much as I would call it a utility knife. It’s between a chef and a paring.
It’s way too long to be a paring knife and doesn’t have the height of a chef knife. Being long and sleek like it is, it pretty much is a carving knife. Thanks for watching.
Looks awesome, but you’re doing a bad job selling it. It’s not a mistake, it’s “new and improved with dynamic ergonomics” as determined through double blind studies and thousands of hours of research!
Haha, thanks Jason. Perhaps you’ll be my marketing team. 😜
@@TyrellKnifeworks absolutely…you need acronyms also…FRB…fatigue reducing bolster!

А вот эти сюжеты сделать ещё по русски можете???! Да уж!? Вы же русскоязычный!?
Я не русскоязычный, но у меня есть Google Translate. 😜
I wanted to say...
I dont like the way you put your mark straight on the blade.
Even elsewhere.
A knife is supposed to be a personal tool.
You may build it, but since you dont use them... i dont get why you would call them by your name.
Ofc you do what you want.
And since your knifes are mostly exposed in museum and will never get used in the nautre, it's fine to mark them i guess.
But i just wanted to tell you.
By the way, as always, good job.
Makers always mark their knives. I would personally never buy a custom knife without a makers mark. That’s how you tell it’s original and who made it. Asking for it to be removed is like asking an artist not to sign their painting.
@@TyrellKnifeworks It's all on you.
Personally, i dont sign any of my writtings.
Or any of my wood carvings.
And so, they appear magicals to me.
Way less, and way more personals.
have you ever used sandalwood for knife handler. i would like hunting knife with sandalwood handler
No, I never have. I’ve seen it before though, it’s quite beautiful. Maybe some day. Thanks for watching, Ivan.
@@TyrellKnifeworks I handle sandalwood at work. would be able to send you some, just not sure how much roughly your hunting knife would cost with sandalwodd handler. where can I chaeck the prices
@@ivan-astral I don't have a pricelist per say. Email me at tyrellknifeworks at gmail for pricing info.
