    Hi bob
    Been watching your blog which has been really helpful, we are very new to motorhome. We ordered a bailey for delivery after Christmas but changed to a 2 year old elddis encore which we bought in between Xmas and new year, it's saved us a lots of money, so we are going to France Spain and Italy over the winter, had our first tour to Dumfries area and covered 485 miles over new year staying in car parks portpatrick and sweetheart abbey and galiston lodge caravan site, the peageut engine 130bhp is really strong and very good on fuel, only using half a tank of fuel. We are very pleased we ourselves and thanks to You made motorhome touring enjoyable. We are from sailing background and have been sailing round the med and now we are on our land yacht

    As usual another great video. One point being mentioned is how low the waste pipe is. All Bailey motorhomes are built on a ALKO low chassis which it is claimed to improve road holding and ease of access. You cant have everything. Other comments have been made comparing it to your own van, but in a way an unfair comparison as your Bolero is near top of the range and you are test driving Baileys entry level range motorhome.

    Have you noticed on the dashboard whether there is a potential warning/ message light as to when the ad blue needs topping up? On my Discovery Sport ( Now gone hence new motorhome) a warning would come up a couple of thousand miles to go.It would continue a warning you every 500 miles until it got to the final few hundred. if you ignored it and ran out the engine would not restart.

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  5 лет назад

      I haven't seen a light for that or got to that stage yet, only 100 miles done so far. I would guess a warning message would come up. I can't see a light, but I know what you mean, I hired a Vauxhall Zafira a couple of years ago, and almost as soon as I started driving it, the warning light came on, with 500 miles to go before it needed refilling.

    Having seen the interior of the Bailey Advance again I do like the layout. Which heating do you prefer, the blown air or Alde radiators? I suppose it is a case of 'swings and roundabouts'. The blown air is probably quicker to heat up the interior, and I think that for anyone using their motorhome in winter months the abiity to use gas while on the move is really useful. I can't understand why Bailey haven't supplied an owners manual. I don't think I have been to any of the sites you are visiting, yet, but I like the look of Southport C&MC and it looks handy for walking into the town from site.

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  5 лет назад

      Thanks, yes, the different heaters have different advantages, Truma heats up quicker, but Alde doesn't have heater pipes everywhere. I managed to download a manual, so technology saves the day. Southport is a nice site, about 10 minutes walk into the town. I did an Arriving at Southport video a while ago.

    Great vlog again thanks. Just to top and tail the loo empty bit (as a newbie who spent a couple of weeks in a motorhome for the first time last year), am I right in think you would have opened the larger hole again when you got back to the van to put in the blue gloop - we were putting it in the emptying tube as didn’t think to open the bigger one and weren’t shown by the hire co. This would solve the issue we had with most of the chemical seemingly sticking to the sides of the tube instead of going into the tank!

    • @dcs7077
      @dcs7077 5 лет назад +1

      Yes either put the goop in the big hole or just poor it down the toilet when open, immediately cleaning any drips on the white.

      Actually it high lights what you was saying about tail people and the fact that the mechanism for the seat makes you seem perched up high.

    Re cab controls... don’t know if it’s the same on a brand new van, ours is a 64 reg. I think it’s wrong you can’t have the side lights only on. The switch is either off or full headlights on . With modern vehicles having daytime running lights you’ve always got something at the front lit up but occasionally you feel like you need some rear lighting but not needing full headlights on.

  • @turnerwalker1532
    @turnerwalker1532 5 лет назад +1

    Hi Bob & Jenny, yet another informative video. You mention fuel consumption but what really interests me is the Adblue additive usage and extra cost involved in comparison to the Fiat engine, for this one reason I wouldn’t have a Peugeot. I have noticed too, in my opinion the Bailey seems sparse and basic against your Swift, the omission of a rear view camera has shown up how critical a piece of equipment it is when you consider that little kid and the bike behind you last time you were out in your Bolero, that could’ve ended in tragedy if you’d been in the Bailey then! These cameras should be made compulsory as they are now in the U.S.
    That waste pipe is very prone too, I have seen one that flips up when not being used, perhaps that may be an idea for Bailey and others to adopt?
    Keep up with the great videos, I really enjoy watching them and look forward to seeing which heating system you prefer and to whether the Truma be used whilst driving as well. 👍👍

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  5 лет назад

      Thanks for your comments, what you have to bear in mind is there is a large price difference (circa £20k) between the new version of our Motorhome and The Bailey Advance 76-4T. For that reason, it is unfair to make comparisons. However, I agree with you about rear view cameras, they should be compulsory.

    The bailey brochure has a measurement for the width with mirrors folded. Do they mean folded out or in because the measurement for both the Advance and the Autograph ranges are the same. The Autograph is obviously wider in the body and if the mirrors were folded in the body would be wider than the cab so the two ranges should have different widths and not the same width as Bailey state. Do you have a tape measure and could you measure the width of the body please?

      Thanks, you clarified something for me as well. On the Advance the habitation width (the caravan part) is 2280mm and the cab width mirrors folded in measurement 2489mm. On the Autograph habitation width is 2422, and cab width is the same at 2489mm. So the caravan part on the Autograph is wider.

    • @richardharris9536
      @richardharris9536 5 лет назад

      Thanks, but I'm still confused. With the mirrors folded in the cab cannot be wider than the bodywork, the 2489mm must be with the mirrors out or it is the external measurement of the wider Autograph body (and is wrongly stated for the Advance which is obviously narrower). Im being OCD about it as I have a very narrow driveway. Ive measured an Advance at the dealers and it was nearer the 2280 than the 2489 !!!

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  5 лет назад

      Thanks for the question. No, you don't need the engine running. The habitation heating works either on Electric or on Gas - LPG, Propane or Butane bottled gas, or some people use refillable LPG tanks. If we stay on a campsite and they have electric hookup, we will set it to run on electric, if we are out and about, stopped in a layby or admiring the view, we can use gas.
