Hi Brendan. Very nice watch. I must say, I am shocked to hear this about Whittles. I've been purchasing from them for years and they've been nothing short of amazing to me and two colleagues. I got my Explorer1 with minimal wait, followed by a no-date Sub and Batman approx 8 months later. Finally got my grail Pepsi not long ago too. Sorry you had a different experience.
You say you got a Pepsi without buying an all gold watch? Who did you get that watch from?
@@BrendanBoswell Well I don't want to cause any issues but I've dealt mainly with Rose first, then Laura. Harri has also been brilliant. For a friend's 40th, I know that his wife went in to organise the surprise but secured him a Daytona (he had a very long purchase history, though). You've certainly had a unique experience by the sounds of it!

just purchased my first rolex for my wife the AD experience was brilliant hopefully I'll be getting mine this year a non date sub glad you got yours
I am from Bolton, but had a great AD in Nantwich, amazing customer service and one of the best buying experiences of my life, I got a none date sub and was close to a Batgirl, then Rolex striped them of their franchise at the start of this year. They really did not deserve the way they were treated. I am now an orphan, having to start fresh with a new dealership, with no buying history.😢

That would be moodys , I bought a 31mm ladies ,they were useless , couldn't take like out ,they got a local collector to come in who scratched a new watch and still couldnt do it , the manager promised to get me a sub then never rang , when I called in a year later the owner looked at me like I was a shoplifter, never went in again .

Love their watches but all this nonsense regarding the AD's and how they prefer to "not sell" watches has really turned me off. Screw them.

Hi Brendan, I have been a client of Preston’s since December 2022 and within 13 months I was offered 5 Rolex watches. I bought 4 of them including a Rootbeer and Starbucks! They are amazing and there’s no silly games. I have also been a client of Goldsmiths in the TC, having bought non Rolex watches and jewellery and have never been offered a Rolex!

I've bought all my Rolex from WOS. I've not had to buy other watches. Did they tell you to spend X amount? If so it probably would have been easier just going grey?
Similar to you Brendan, spent 50k with the AD on the so called list for a Batman being on the list now for 8 months. Not sure if I will get this watch also done all the dropping the chocolates off etc. Got a rootbeer within a few months gorgeous watch just don’t wear it. Which would you keep if you had to sell one a rootbeer or the 41mm sub date. Being a subscriber for sometime no beating around the bush with you like the humour 😀👍
Right it is a real bad time to sell, trade up ok selling now no way. I advise you to give the RB a second chance as most people would kill to own it. Just put it on for a week and see if it grows on you.

Considering how much you were able and prepared to spend, you could have bought a Pepsi on the grey market and saved a fortune
I hear a lot of horror story’s about all these AD’s, I must have got lucky with mine Goldsmiths in Birmingham are spot on and really nice people in there a bit like your Preston’s, Glad you got the Batgirl 🦇💁♀️in the end Brendon, such a stunner !!!

I won’t play the games at all, the AD is not your friend, I just love the idea of a retail worker snubbing professional and business owns. AD have lost the plot and the buyers even more so. I’d recommend anyone after Rolex to go buy a Speedmaster and a sports car (Lotus Elise/ Exige, 911, Caterham 7, MX5 or GT86) and travel. If you have the funds skip the brand and buy PP, VC, AP and Lange. If not you’re not going to beat the Speedmaster. This is a prime example why you don’t play the AD games, buy your watches at the best price.

Wow Brendan you have the watch collecting bug bad . To be fair you have done very well to get four Rolex s in two years especially with what has been going on in the Rolex world. I try with dame wait list,the AD speak to me about 8 month waiting,and if i am tired to wait i can buy a lot of rolex in grey market,perhaps not the oyster perpetual 41mm black that i wanted but a 36mm datjust or a datejust 2,we will see..

Latest videos from hong kong are showing windows full of starbucks well below retail, the party is over and all these dealers who have shit on us for the last 8 years will get a reality check .
5:50 this so sad 😂. Basically doming them up on your knees for the opportunity to buy a Rolex. I could never comfortably look at my wrist knowing I had to sell my dignity and get on my knees, to a minimum wage store clerk with smeared lipstick named Betty, for the opportunity to maybe buy a Rolex like the begging dog that I am. Lol. Says a lot about a person.

Wow! What a story! I am a big believer in what goes around comes around. The lack of transparency in the luxury watch market allows companies to behave in this way. When the hype over luxury watches has completely gone and only genuine collectors are left, our 'friends' in Preston will have what is coming to them.
They should have behaved better, totally agree long term they will be on the wrong side of this. 🫡☘️

An insider in the United States suggests that Ad’s there in the past back door supplied to greys at elevated prices hence why nothing was ever available and why prices ramped up sharply. Said situation is starting to shift as greys no longer want to be stuck with stock, some watches are becoming available. Desirable ones still being picked up by AD’s. Love the watches but…

Is there a reason you didn’t go to multiple ADs in the beginning to get on multiple lists for long wait time watches? That's what we do in the US
It kinda a small world over here, Not London.
Others have but it’s never been my intention to take a watch from a more deserving person.

I have been to both Whittles & Prestons in Wilmslow, I fully agree with your findings. I found Whittles very dismissive, they have a large catchment area, basically everything North of Manchester, so feel they dont need to offer decent customer service.

Another brilliant video exposing these pseudo snob retailers. They sell watches FFS, which to 95% of the population is immaterial. Furthermore, most of the people who work in these stores couldn't afford a Tissot, let alone a Rolex but yet they treat customers with contempt.

I had the same experience with Goldsmiths who I've spent quite a bit of money with in respect of Rolex, Tudor and Longines as well as jewellery and I was not considered for a further purchase from this AD. I managed to purchase my latest Rolex elsewhere without being an existing customer just a walk in and I walked out with the Explorer II with a white dial, result. I certainly will not be spending any more money with Goldsmiths. What watch were you wearing in this video you kept flashing it, it wasn't the yacht master as that was on a oyster bracelet and what you was wearing was on a jubilee. Just curious.

I don’t know why people bother with all this AD relationship/spend history bullshit. All I do I is tell the AD what I‘m interested in, if I want it quick, I buy from the grey market and sell the watch later when I get it from the AD. High demand pieces I don’t even bother with at ADs, I go straight to the grey market.

Rolex perpetuates the flipping cycle. I wanted a submariner. I did not want to go on a Rolex journey working my way up through the models to get one nor did I want to get a spend history. Even paying a small premium on the grey is better than having to kiss AD butt and waiting donkeys years to get what you want.

my Rolex ad have offered me two bimetal dj41 fluted jubilee,first one with diamonds and a second one steel/ gold
said no on both occasions
I will not be held to ransom for a fairly basic entry level non sports watch from Rolex

These AD staff speak to u in a condescending manner, riding on the hype that watches get last few years. It’s gone now, just a reminder , they need ur money to keep their job. I have changed. I used to be gentleman in everything I do. But for watch AD, I am a real prick and remind them where they stand . But don’t me like me , I didn’t get many watches lol
A real story - I once watched into an ad , there is no for display sign on the watch, so I asked if it’s for sale and if I could try - he replied not for sale , and gave me that “ lets not waste time here and I am not taking out for u to try” , even tho I said it’s good that I try. So I walked to the Tudor display and saw a Pelagos 39 . So I asked if this is for sale then? He said yes and if I would wanna buy. I replied him “why should I buy from you” ? He was stunned but smiled nevertheless . I am telling u , there’s a lot of me out there with money, and their life next 2 years will be hell . After all, we are watch lovers and we are only the ones who buy 😂

I have been lucky, dealt with my AD for Decades. Well before the flipping insanity driven largely by RUclips guys.
I get the pieces I want because a lot of business is built on trust, I don’t flip & I don’t shop one dealer against the other around the country and they know that.

much prefer the 40mm explorer full steel as an entry level professional rolex sports watch
I liked it but I honestly felt it needed the original engine turned bezel to finish it off.
