Watchfinder has lowered what they pay for a Submariner recently to £8500 Brendan 👍🏼 that’s what they told me last week anyway. It maybe different this week. They are chancers after all.
That's a lot more than I thought they would offer tbh. I assume that's for one picked up straight from the AD. The sooner the offer rate drops below MSRP the sooner the waiting lists disappear.
I agree with your view on the Yachtmaster. Why pay £10,500 in the grey market for a S/S Submariner when you can buy a New S/S Yachtmaster from an AD for £10,500. It’s a much classier underrated watch.
I went into a Rolex AD in Paris last September and looked at the Submariner range. The lady was very nice, very welcoming and thanked me for asking to buy the LV or the black basic non date Sub. I had it all in writing and my reason for wanting to buy. She assured me it would be no issue but I would have to wait some time. Well I heard nothing from them since even though I put all my details in their Ipad registration system. Not a dicky bird.
Your mistake is two-fold: 1. Only registering with one AD; and 2. Visiting ADs in highly populated cities with lots of wealthy people. Both are going to seriously reduce your chances, where ultimately the AD will sell the watch to those they like. It is unfortunately a popularity contest for the more coveted timepieces. You should therefore: 1. Register at multiple ADs - and all around the world (assuming you travel a lot) - ensuring they are not all owned by the same group 2. Register with independent ADs who are not part of a larger parent company, where they are more likely to have stricter sales targets and so more likely to sell you the watch 3. Try and visit smaller cities/towns and register at ADs there where there is far lower population and fewer wealthy people to compete with.
For a bigger guy looking for a steel submariner date, I would recommend you should also have a look at a Sea-dweller 43 (126600). About the same price as a grey market submariner date for a more superior tool watch from a Rolex AD with a much shorter wait list. And actually less than retail from a grey market dealer for one over a year old. Interesting perspective though on the Yachtmaster from Brendan. Especially if that Sea-dweller too big and you want a one watch does all. It’s personal taste but for me YM a bit more dressy and more exclusive than the submariner in terms of not seeing so many around.
I would pay more than grey market for the piece of mind that my watch is 100% genuine. I think it would be a horrible to own an all gold rolex bought from the grey market for a few thousand less thinking is this watch a fake or messed with then 4-8 years on it goes to the RSC for service, when I get it back with 2 year RSC warranty would I have piece of mind. What if RSC rejects it and says it's Frankenstein or Fake will the grey market dealer admit to selling you that watch?
This is how it’s always going to be with Rolex. It is what it is. If you really want one that bad and you can’t wait yes go Gray Market from a reputable source. If you just want an amazing watch to wear go get an Omega but if you have to have a Rolex nothing else will scratch that itch.

I picked up a Submariner Bluesey after waiting 6 months in 2023. Both full yellow gold versions have been on the window of my local AD in recent months. Due to having a very good spend history with my AD (I’m not a flipper, I buy watches to enjoy), they registered me for the Starbucks last week and think it should not be too long before I receive it. I’m also registered for a GMT Master II Pepsi and two tone Daytona. About 3 weeks ago I picked up a GMT Master II Zombie from the AD window, no waiting list at all
When see anyone with a Rolex these days, the very first thing that comes to mind is if it's a fake. Doesn't matter how well they're dressed, the company they're wit, the cars they drive, or the large tip they're giving.
What is generally considered a purchasing history with an AD? Is one watch enough or are we talking mutiple purchases over a significant period of time?
I actually got offered two within a month. I wasn’t in the country for the first one and another two weeks went past and they offered me another one. Shame I’m not around that AD anymore as I’d have really liked a Polar Explorer II or a Batman. I’ll wait as long as I need, I won’t go grey unless it’s an under list watch.
I was fortunate to have been offered a Submariner 124060 from my AD after a 4 month wait in Oct 2021 - I did have prior purchase history with a Tudor and Omega purchase. Was very happy to have purchased my Sub for £6,450 then. Since then I expressed interest in an Explorer 1 and was offered one after 7 month wait. So it is possible to build a relationship with your AD and be offered a SS Rolex.
If I had a pound for everytime I’ve heard you won’t get a Starbucks Sub or Panda Daytona from an AD I’d be rich. I bought my first Sub in 2020 during the pandemic and don’t have a massive spend history but I have within 3years got both watches. I’m interested though why you say the green bezel Sub isn’t worth MSRP when you can’t get one supposedly? Just to note I’ve not flipped any of the three stainless steel sports watches I have bought.
60 to 70% of people that buy a Rolex will get it on credit. Around 8 months ago a Rolex dealer up North in the UK was selling solid gold Rolexs, and I walked in for a chat. And ask about a solid gold GMT Rolex about pricing. The sales guy said that he could offer me a discount for it. 3% of list. 8 month later I think most Rolex AD are struggling to sell sold gold watches. And solid gold Rolex is like brick on your wrist. And you still see in the shop windows (for display only). Good luck to the ADs
I believe two tone subs in long run will be winners because you paid for precious material not the demand. As gold price rises, value of of watch does the same.
Love your honest approach! I don’t doubt anything you say but today I went to my local Rolex ad after they called me to pop in. I’ve been on the waiting list for a Rolex sports watch gtm or sub for almost 5 years. I was told nothing was available to buy and I don’t have enough purchase history to get a Rolex sports watch (even after waiting nearly 5 years) I was told though in a hushed voice if I was to buy 5/6 other brands Tag, Omega then I would be considered. Sounds like blackmail to me!? Are ad really like that? Confused and annoyed!
Very interesting. Regarding YM's, I think the Oysterflex versions (40 Everose and 42 WG) do come with a slightly shorter version of the Glidelock. (Can anyone confirm this?) Also, can you do the same video topic on the GMT Master II? Cheers!
Great information for someone who knows nothing but is looking to purchase such as myself. I do like the blue 2 tone submariner at least you know you are getting gold in it rather than just stainless steel for the price.
@BrendanBoswell I thought I could just walk into a rolex shop and buy a watch until I started watching your videos 🤣. My watch buying experience is probably picking up a citizen from argos I have found a jewellers local to me in the north West called miltons seem reasonable but I will do a bit more research. Thanks 👍
Yup, I came to the same conclusion you did about the YM. It looks better than a chunky Submariner and you get your money's worth with the Rhodium and Platinum. If I were to buy another Rolex, it would be all 18K gold. There is nothing special about steel.
After being on my Australian Rolex AD’s EOI list for 2 years for a green OP41, it dawned on me that this has been costing me real money. I have kept the AU$10k RRP price aside in my zero interest transaction account, while if I had kept the cash in a 1yr 5% term deposit account for 2 years, I could have earned AU$1k. Also in that 2 years the cost of the watch has risen by 12%. I am embarrassed for myself that I have fallen for Rolex’s silly charade, for some stupid trinket that I don’t need. I contacted the AD and asked them to remove my name from their ridiculous list. Never again am I going to play the game as set out by some marketing strategist in a far away land. I really am ashamed of my stupidity and gullibility.
I waited just under 3 years for my Sub, which I recently collected. Had previously traded something in with the AD so they did know me somewhat. Was happy to wait, and popped in every 3 months to say hi before getting the call.
@@BrendanBoswell the watch market is in a weird spot right now you want to buy a watch from the AD but you have to be careful because that same watch is cheaper on the grey market
I was just offered the the Green bezel Sub ref 126610LV from my AD yesterday. No spend history at all but did put my name down for it about 9 months ago. I would just go in about every 6 weeks and talk with my rep at the AD. Seems to have paid off IMO
I don't have a Submariner but I'd go for the old 16610 any day over these. That simply has the classic Submariner look with the spiky crown guards and all that. Much better looking than the new ones which are ok but look more like a Breitling Superocean. Cheers.
I love My 40mm Yachtmaster Rhodium and I agree with you on it. BUT I am in the market now for either a new sub or a 16610 2007-2010 specifically. Why? Because though I think the yachtmaster is stunning and the one of the underrated watches in the collection I do not feel like it’s the best everyday wear watch. I wear it quite a bit but at times when I’m Bumming around the house and have to spring up to possibly do a mundane chore I don’t want it on. It’s polished quite a bit and it’s not exactly a rugged tool watch. Though expensive I would wear the sub on an oyster flex bracelet and never take it off during 95% of my daily tasks.
Tried on a sub no date in a random AD before. The clasp is very long for a 41mm watch and feels much bigger because of it. It is the only sports Rolex you can get walk in and honestly prefer certain Black Bay models. They should get rid of the sub clasp and use the GMT II clasp. Yacht Master is probably much more comfortable to wear than a sub.
Can get a 20024 sub date for has little has £11500 on chrono 24 I paid 13k in 2022 for a 2020 126610ln, ffs I feel gutted now, them greedy bastards up in jesmond
So it's cost you £3 a day to own, so what that's, half a pint of beer in a nice bar? A supermarket sandwich? A can of Redbull in a motorway service station. Hardly life changing is it? And you've had the watch. Who wouldn't pay £3 a day to own a Submariner?
Never check Chrono24 for prices. It's not realistic nor are those sale prices, they are (absurd) list prices. Check watchcollecting instead where there is actual ENDED auctions of Rolex's. The real sale price of a modern Sub is between £8-9k - that's £2.5-£3.5k lower than your expectations based on the clown website of Chrono24. It also means flipping the watch will net you a loss or something close to zero. My guess is for the next several years, the "entry level" or most affordable sports watches will flatline in price on the grey/used market. They won't lose value, but they won't go up in value either.
@@liquid_metal auctions are one thing, Chrono24 retailed, guaranteed gen is something else. Click, click, click, wait, wear. And they do sell watches, they may not be the cheapest but they do sell watches. Just like the £20k Daytona that I saw bought in Berry's in Nottingham the other week. Could he have bought it for less elsewhere? Yes, there is identical on eBay for
Brendon I think I like you yacht master as much as my 126711CHNR. My daily is my oyster 126300 blue baton dial but heading into town and weekend my rootbeer gets worn and this watch is special and makes me feel special. I certainly would never pay silly grey prices for any steel rolex, your advice is spot on get on the list for a non flipper 2 tone. Another watch I don't get is the titanium YT why pay all that money for a watch with no weight in it? Its not only the look of the rootbeer that make it special its the extra weight.
I was just blessed with a brand new 24 sea dweller gold and I’m I love with it ! Much better than those over priced steel submariners and GMT II’s although I do like the Wayne and batgirl colors
It is possible to buy a steel Submariner Date straight out of an AD, only you need a Tardis. Back in 2015 you could do it - and even buy a Hulk out of the window for £6,000. Think of that Flippers - six grand brand new.
You’re bang on with your advice. I also have a yachtmaster steel & gold bracelet, white dial. Bought 17 years ago. Absolutely love it. Goes with casual or formal dress. I don’t even wear my 1978 steel sub which sits in my safe since a full service.
True regarding Bluesy, walked in with no buying history 2 weeks ago, was offered a brand new one on the spot. Asked to try on other brands, didn't say I preferred the Bluesy over them but was openly told it's for sale.
My Rolex AD in Melbourne Oz suggested I nominate 3 watches to reduce wait time and don’t bother with the popular ones. So OP 41 green, Explorer 40 and Air King in that order. I actually like all 3 for different reasons. And being a stubborn bolshi pr1ck, I refuse to reward a55hole flippers on the grey.
20 & 25 a year?! If true that is absolutely ridiculous! That's nothing! Aren't the AD's in business to make money?! You would think they would need to sell hundreds per year!
Owning the 124060 along my Speedmaster 3861 I kinda don't feel pressure for anything else. I love the clean looks and symmetry of the Sub... Absolute stunner.
I bought two Rolex watches and waited 10 months for my Starbucks. Waiting for a Pepsi and or Daytona white dial. Let’s see how long I have to wait now…. Lol
Just picked up an DJ41 stainless steel, jubilee fluted bezel with a mint green dial. Lovely watch and registered for an OP41 green dial they had on one displayed only 😂 likely a customer watch but classic a lovely watch.
He’s been saying the only true way to get a legit Rolex is at the AD. But if you cannot resist pulling the trigger now, then the only option is grey, and he’s warning you of the dangers of it.
I totally disagree with you Brendan. I picked up the Rolex Starbucks Feb 2024. It took me 2 and a half years to get it. I have not bought nothing that I did not want. In fact I bought a Date just 41 black dial fluted bezel jubilee bracelet, in 2018. 6 months wait time. 2021 Rolex Batgirl, a year and a half wait., 2023 green op 41, about I year wait then the Starbucks. In fact I only have bought Rolex from this AD. I am on the Daytona wait list for the polar dial. Will I get it absolutely. It will take time but I will get one. Just put my name on the explore 40m, and the polar 42. It’s all about the relationship you have with your ad. I have had to deal with new employees as people have left the store. But this did not affect me in getting other Rolex models. The Ad has to like you and if they see you are genuine, and like me have great knowledge on different watch brands in goes a long way. There are lots of people like me who do get the Rolex watches that they want.
This video is for a new Customer to a Rolex AD. I’m unsure how you can Totally disagree with it! You have a relationship and a previous buy history a completely different video.
The other thing to consider in this financial analysis is the effect of the annual price increase. Gold isn’t getting any cheaper, ask any jeweller. Taking into account annual price rises Rolex will want to£4,650 more in 5 years time for a two tone Sub. In only 7 years time they’ll be north of 20 grand. If you’re buying to keep and planning to perhaps sell in a few years that will influence what your watch is worth. This guy is on about walking out of the AD and immediately selling - or is this a flipper channel? This is the era of the genuine enthusiasts being able to buy what they want and hold on to the watch. Flipper parasites who can’t get out of the watch fast enough have largely vanished.
Sounds like this really is all dependent on where you are based. Claiming they are taking the piss by putting your name in for a Starbucks is a bit strong. Maybe the UK is having a hard time, in the US the wait was 9months ish….
@@BrendanBoswell did you say it was your experience or fact that they are taking the piss and the lists closed years Ago…guess it doesn’t matter. Seems like this is just a place to shit talk rather than offer impartial advice.

Nice vid and thanks for the research and effort put in. Not sure I know what is low or high price for a Rolex watch anymore, I believe Rolex best days are behind them. I do know about pricing and marketing and If those watches are selling at all at any price band it's because there are still suckers out there and it does not matter any amount of wisdom you want to inject upon them. My advise to the wannabees choose a different watch brand that's not so hyped but has good credentials and forget about replicas don't be so cheap!!

People are so stupid to pay that much for a stainless steel watch. I build my own homage watch and call it something else. Similar quality for a fraction of the price..
No wait list. How exciting!!! Does that mean you don't have to form a phony friendship with the dealer, buy additional jewelry that you don't need or want, submit to questioning and background checks, and "dance" for the dealer in the hopes of being found worthy to spend $10,000 for a stainless steel watch?
You are wasting your money on any sub. If you need a real diving watch, the sea dweller is the one to go to. She has many features above the outdated sub.😅

This is how it’s always going to be with Rolex. It is what it is. If you really want one that bad and you can’t wait yes go Gray Market from a reputable source. If you just want an amazing watch to wear go get an Omega but if you have to have a Rolex nothing else will scratch that itch.
I would pay more than grey market for the piece of mind that my watch is 100% genuine. About 3 weeks ago I picked up a GMT Master II Zombie from the AD window, no waiting list at all
Shall have to Google the Zombie GMT 😅

When see anyone with a Rolex these days, the very first thing that comes to mind is if it's a fake. Doesn't matter how well they're dressed, the company they're wit, the cars they drive, or the large tip they're giving.
many people I know have the rolex at home and wear a super clone daily- especially in central London where robberies are prevalent

What is generally considered a purchasing history with an AD? Is one watch enough or are we talking mutiple purchases over a significant period of time?
I'm interested in a sprite price come down hard on those almost affordable on secondary now!
I wonder what the wait would be on the yellow gold two tone GMT?
2 to 6 months tops atm
Respectfully , you’re incorrect on the 2-tone ‘Bluesey’. I’ve been waiting 4 months. It’s not available at my AD.
Why would you play AD games when they're under MSRP on the secondary market?
I got a bluesy after two weeks last year with no history.
@@leeburton1986In UK or some where else? if in UK can you tell me which AD thank you
Reach out to me on instagram if yours serious!
Had the rhodium yachtmaster, & it’s a stunner … but it scratches very easily
Had to sell it last year to purchase a property , & I miss it badly
☘️☝️
If I had a pound for everytime I’ve heard you won’t get a Starbucks Sub or Panda Daytona from an AD I’d be rich.
I bought my first Sub in 2020 during the pandemic and don’t have a massive spend history but I have within 3years got both watches.
I’m interested though why you say the green bezel Sub isn’t worth MSRP when you can’t get one supposedly?
Just to note I’ve not flipped any of the three stainless steel sports watches I have bought.
Hi, were your purchases in the UK, & if so, which town?
I acquired my submariner after only a 3 week wait. I live in Houston TX, just keep trying every one. Good luck all.
Did you have previous history at the AD?
Great vid. Where’d you get the cool Rolex wall art?
Omega no Rolex
Where are you located?
Very interesting. Regarding YM's, I think the Oysterflex versions (40 Everose and 42 WG) do come with a slightly shorter version of the Glidelock. (Can anyone confirm this?) Also, can you do the same video topic on the GMT Master II? Cheers!
It’s done, ready to go! ☘️
Great information for someone who knows nothing but is looking to purchase such as myself.
I do like the blue 2 tone submariner at least you know you are getting gold in it rather than just stainless steel for the price.
Beautiful watch☘️🫡
@BrendanBoswell I thought I could just walk into a rolex shop and buy a watch until I started watching your videos 🤣.
My watch buying experience is probably picking up a citizen from argos I have found a jewellers local to me in the north West called miltons seem reasonable but I will do a bit more research.
Thanks 👍
@soupdragon1 I can get you that watch on your wrist if you want my help! I’m on instagram
@BrendanBoswell Thankyou Brendan that's the one that's stood out to me at the moment I will head over to your instagram.

It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of MaMaCoo 's watch 99% of people will never see.
Great video as always. How long do you think I would wait for a Sub no date having purchased a DJ41 with AD?
Get them to tell you the truth! They already know ☘️
I waited just under 3 years for my Sub, which I recently collected. Had previously traded something in with the AD so they did know me somewhat. Was happy to wait, and popped in every 3 months to say hi before getting the call.
I got offered a yellow gold day date 40 with black stick dial yesterday at the AD I turned it down
Wise ☘️
@@BrendanBoswell the watch market is in a weird spot right now you want to buy a watch from the AD but you have to be careful because that same watch is cheaper on the grey market
Got a Green dial sub after a 8 month wait at my AD I am friendly with them though
I was just offered the the Green bezel Sub ref 126610LV from my AD yesterday. No spend history at all but did put my name down for it about 9 months ago. I would just go in about every 6 weeks and talk with my rep at the AD. Seems to have paid off IMO
Fantastic news, lucky you ☘️
I don't have a Submariner but I'd go for the old 16610 any day over these. That simply has the classic Submariner look with the spiky crown guards and all that. Much better looking than the new ones which are ok but look more like a Breitling Superocean. Cheers.
I’ve an older submariner too beautiful watch ☘️
I love My 40mm Yachtmaster Rhodium and I agree with you on it. BUT I am in the market now for either a new sub or a 16610 2007-2010 specifically. Why? Because though I think the yachtmaster is stunning and the one of the underrated watches in the collection I do not feel like it’s the best everyday wear watch. I wear it quite a bit but at times when I’m
Bumming around the house and have to spring up to possibly do a mundane chore I don’t want it on.
Explorer's are also available walk-in with some (not all) ADs. It's luck.
I’m focusing myself to wear my 5 digit sub now, I like you kept it in the safe for too long.
Yep. I got my 126621 black dial and I'm done! fantastic watch.
True regarding Bluesy, walked in with no buying history 2 weeks ago, was offered a brand new one on the spot.
Asked to try on other brands, didn't say I preferred the Bluesy over them but was openly told it's for sale.
I was offered the white gold Sub at my AD just last week. $42,000….way out of my price range…lol.
Well they seem to be offering the steel submariner to most people after 3-4 years on the waitlist! You can get them if you patience!
20 & 25 a year?! If true that is absolutely ridiculous! That's nothing! Aren't the AD's in business to make money?! You would think they would need to sell hundreds per year!
I wonder at what point you will get a discount off retail at an AD.
Rolex too savoy for that, Omega 💯 yes, Rolex No ☘️
Picked up my Bruce Wayne on oyster 3 weeks ago ave it has made the rest of my collection redundant
I’ve been looking for a Tudor Black Bay 54 for ages, suddenly all the AD’s have them. Something is certainly going on. 🤓
Owning the 124060 along my Speedmaster 3861 I kinda don't feel pressure for anything else. I love the clean looks and symmetry of the Sub... Absolute stunner.
nah; the submariner is the most boring looking watch in the universe.

£8k is a tough pill to swallow for a basic, no date steel sports watch
Looking forward to the GMT upload!

Finally prices are coming down but more importantly we all getting wiser. I just purchased my last watch two weeks ago I'm done with the Rolex hype.
Lovely mate!
My experience is that so it’s what I’ve said!
@@BrendanBoswell did you say it was your experience or fact that they are taking the piss and the lists closed years
