Just another fyi for those asking. When refiring remember that all of the glaze is going to remelt. If you have a runny glaze it is going to run more so use a good tall cookie!! I thought Shelby had said she used kiln wash on her Stilts. But I’ll try both and see what works. I’ve found that if I use sandstone or winter wood on the bottom of pieces I need to stilt that you really can’t tell there are stilt marks! Lol May I also suggest to you that you invest in a small space heater so it’s not so cold out there when you’re doing your kiln opening! You look absolutely adorable in your coat and hat but I think you’d really love a little heat out there. Lol
Yes I really should get me a space heater! LOL...My garage isn't insulated properly so it gets super cold when the temp drops...too bad I cant do my kiln openings when my kiln is at temp bcuz my garage is warm like on a summer day! haha. Love all your suggestions, and thanks for sharing your wealth of info 😉...also...thanks for the compliments!! 🤭🥰
Hey Sarah oh yr so welcome for soft red! I was so excited to see a kiln opening from u but bummed I’m not in yr time zone so missed the live. Love love love the outside of power turquoise blue rutile bowl and the carving! Gorgeous unload as always. Nat xx
Thanks Gurl!! I totally get it as we are literally on the opposite side of the globe! I’m glad you were able to still sit thru it I know it was a long one!! 🤭 I’ve got some more ideas with the soft red so more to come with that one! HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you and your family…and to Tracy! Cheers 🥂

Sooo happy and I cant believe I went so long without the upgrade! I hope you had a lovely holiday and all the best in 2024!! Cheers!
I missed your live! Sorry! I had a meeting. 😞 Great tip on the wax on the stilts. I wish I had seen this last night, I have some stilted pieces in the kiln right now. Waiting for it to shut off. Merry Christmas to you too Pat!! 🥰🥰 I just love this community we have here on YT! Potters are the best! You are such an amazing support and are almost always there for my Premieres and Lives 🥰🥰🥰 means sooo very much to me!! I agree that showing failures along with successes is very important. So that we feel normal when things don’t go as planned. And I also love what you said that without the boo-boos we aren’t pushing hard enough..”failure” leads to learning which leads to successes!! Thanks again for you ongoing support!! Happiest of holidays to you and your fam!! 😘
My pottery teacher Lucy Be, (Amazing lady) showed us how to tell from dipping your finger into a glaze how thick it should be, basically it needs to coat the finger but you should still be able to just see through it. So if you dipped your finger in Yogurt it would be too thick and into milk too thin but just under pouring cream is good. Hope that helps if you ever need to thin down a glaze again.
Thank you Tegan...AWESOME ADVISE!! Thank you so much!! I will try this out with my Lavender Mist and Frosted Lemon!! 🥰 btw I took a little time off over the holiday's so I've been slow getting back to my comments! Sorry about that! Hope you had a lovely holiday season and all the best in 2024!!

Hello Saskia! I took a little time off over the holidays as I had house guests so it's taken me a little time getting back to you...I will definitely show the firing schedule and how I programmed my controller!
Hi Sarah, what a great kiln opening! I love the new combos and the purple haze is sooo pretty! 💜 I wish they had it here. There’s a new Coyote purple that I’m thinking on getting. I need to get the cirrus flow, it’s such a pretty blue. Thanks for sharing such detailed information with the pictures.🙏🏻 Merry Christmas.🎄💞
Thank you Ana!! 🥰You will love the Cirrus Flow!! And try, for the PSH Purple Haze! It’s great value as you can buy it in larger jugs at a cheaper price! I know it’s available in the US google it, you won’t be disappointed!! I’ve seen a few of your video and was super impressed with your glazing!! Maybe in the new year I will attempt the Cierra Seca technique! You are sooo talented!!
@@SarahWaltonPottery Thank you Sarah, I really appreciate it! You should give Cuerda seca a try, I think you’ll love the feel of it. Hi Maureen! Thank you!! Soft Red is a Spectrum Glaze...if you can get your hands on it, you wont be disappointed!! Remember tho, it's a runnnnnner!!! Cheers!

Hello! Question, please....on the small platter with UG black, wiped back, with blue rutile/ TT, do you layer those all at once or fire the UG black @ cone 04, then refire to cone 5-6 with blue rutile/TT??....AND do you dilute the black UG with water to achieve the wipe back appearance?? Thanks, I enjoy your videos very much.
Thanks ecburt! To answer your questions, yes I put the UG on the leather hard clay and then fired to ^04. I did not water it down, but when wiping it back I did us a damp/wet sponge, I found that was enough to remove and sheer out the UG. I only applied 1 coat so it wasn’t really thick, nor did I let it dry completely, I put it on and then wiped it back. After it came out of the bisque fire I then glazed it! 🥰
Hi Joanne! Thank you!! I use quite a few different clays. In this video I believe most are Tuckers Mid Smooth Stone Speck Clay and Tuckers Mid Smooth Stone. One has little bits of manganese that gives off a speckled appearance. I also have a few piece that are 'reclaimed' clay which is really a hodgepodge of all the clays. I a fan of Plainsman and PSH Clays too!
