    I love that Sorcerer's Synchronized Casting passive doesn't just make you cast faster together, but if you start casting the same spell as another sorcerer, you IMMEDIATELY jump to the same point of progression in the cast as them. So if they're less than a second from finishing that big old charge of High Bolide and you start casting, congrats, you just got to let rip a crapload of meteors for less than a second cast time. And that feels AMAZING.

    • @Sol-D81
      @Sol-D81 5 месяцев назад +5

      This is an underrated comment. I know so many veterans of the game that JUST recently learned about this. Synch casting in all mage parties can be very fun and rewarding. The other thing people seem to always miss or gloss over is that you can make classes stronger by leveling up classes that are base to that class. I.e. leveling up mage strengthens magic archer and mystic knight and lets you buy some skills from the respective pools.

  • @subj3kt172
    @subj3kt172 Год назад +422

    For Mystic Knight, I would recommend *not* enchanting your weapon and instead carrying weapons with enchantments already on them. Yes, it's tedious going into the menu to swap weapons, but so is all the buffs you mentioned. Choice is yours. Also, you don't have to bother with Abyssal Anguish if you don't need to melee an enemy and can rely on elemental ripostes, which are very powerful. That just leaves Ruinous Sigil and Great Cannon, which are also situational. Just use the best tool for the job at the time.

    I’ve been playing this game since Vanilla Dogma and I’m still impressed with how incredible it’s combat is and how I’m still learning new things about it.
    I’m absolutely hyped for DD2!

    • @CsStrez
      @CsStrez 10 месяцев назад +8

      Strider is pretty OP itself. If I had to pick one class to solo the game, would be Strider over assassin. Damage with the shortbow is good enough(and Blast Arrows exist), and fracture dart is great. It has climbing damage bonus vs a few late-game bosses and superior climbing speed(combine with Gloves of Might for stupid speed), plus Thousand Kisses and Brain Splitter. You have enchanted daggers for dealing with physical immune foes, and the shortbow can deal with metal golems and their floating, magic-immune medals.
      Strider with the strength augments + eminence and opportunism is nuts. 2 free augment slots left for whatever else you could need. Adhesion and Sinew or Leg Strength round it out.

Imagine a sorc having only 3 skills lol.

    • @SotiCoto
      @SotiCoto 8 месяцев назад +1

      For 90% of the game you don't even need skills as a warrior. Jumping in the air and slamming your sword down on things solves most situations with comical ease. But as noted, the main drawback is flying enemies.

    • @tobiasrex8052
      @tobiasrex8052 8 месяцев назад +2

      @SotiCoto yeah but this is the Warrior class brandishing a comically large sword meant to devastate large groups of enemies in wide-arcing swings and toppling gigantic monsters, I didn't wanna play a Dragoon and just jump and slam into the ground all the time and neglect most of my kit since that gets boring real quick.

    • @GeeGe.
      @GeeGe. 6 месяцев назад

      @@tobiasrex8052honestly I totally get how you feel but the truth is you don't need to spam jumping light attack to play warrior well. Jumping heavy attack looks much better and is still super effective. Also, if you get the augment ferocity which increases the power of your base weapon combos, they become devastating on warrior. Couple that with Exodus Slash that let's you avoid damage and the class becomes really fun to me.

    • @tobiasrex8052
      @tobiasrex8052 6 месяцев назад

      @GeeGe. sad part is a lot of enemies (while playing on Hard difficulty) were given hyper armor/poise and just swing through your combos despite them being "devastating" and interrupt you if the hit was big enough. You lost so much for Warrior when you played on Hard.
      Hopefully Capcom has balanced the classes around a bit and maybe the heavy attacks worth using now since they were garbage in the 1st game as well.

    MK is my favorite class and honestly outside of abyssal anguish I don't use the other weapon buff skills. Like you said, it adds a lot of prep time to battles, and the duration on the MK weapon buff is the shortest of all the classes while also taking the longest to charge. They honestly feel like a bit of a trap, as where MK truly shines is in royal guarding everything to death. The shield buff spells cast way faster, and lasts longer too. If you want a weapon buff, get a sorcerer or mage to cast it instead, although admittedly it will leave your fate to the whims of the pawn AI. What I'll run on my shield is either two different elemental shield buff spells for weakness coverage + abyssal anguish, or one elemental shield buff + abyssal anguish + demonswrath if what I'm fighting resists my main shield buff. Also as effective as long range magick cannon spam is, I prefer to actually cast it in melee. That way my attacks hit both the monster and my cannon, enemy attacks can also trigger the cannon, and if your parries hit your cannon it'll also cause it to fire even more bolts. Ruinous sigil will also repeatedly trigger the cannon if you place it in the sigil's radius and an enemy walks into it! And you can cancel out of cast charging with a block, which makes casting in melee a lot more viable and fluid. So while long range magick cannon playstyle is safe, if you find MK boring I highly recommend using it in the thick of combat instead.

    • @KopperNeoman
      @KopperNeoman Год назад +1

      The only reason I don't abuse riposte skills is because I play my MK as if Dragon's Dogma was Quest for Glory 6 and I imported a Paladin with magic points.
      ...also because they're honestly strong enough to triviallise fights at times

    • @SotiCoto
      @SotiCoto 8 месяцев назад

      I've toyed with riposte skills, but they're just not that great. That time spent trying to parry attacks could be spent putting down ruinous sigils and great cannons, which will stop the enemy even getting close enough to be parried in the first place.

  • @Akashua_Bloodriver
    @Akashua_Bloodriver Год назад +180

    All classes in my opinion are number 1 due to their specialties, such as:
    Mage being able to cure all status effects including petrification, holding large enemies in place with High Grapnel which can shred health bars if properly augmented, and enchanting ally weapons with the most powerful and longest lasting versions of the enchantment spells.
    Fighter can literally become immortal thanks to all of the life regen armor alongside holy enchanted weapons, plus Dragon's Maw shreds enemies even without proper augments and Sheltered Spike if combined with all stamina increase augments allows you to stab for insane damage and take no damage.
    Warrior despite being limited to 3 skills can easily run around solo and decimate foes, and while Exodus slash is nice due to the i-frames, Indomitable Lunge is better since it allows you to bulldoze enemies with ease especially with Iraklis due to it being able to proc the 9 times damage increase more often while also allowing you to run around with soft hyper-armor.
    Ranger maybe able to snipe foes with Great Gamble and shred with blast arrows and Tenfold Flurry, but a great Ranger doesn't need those if they get Dragon's Glaze from BitterBlack Isle as it comes pre-enchanted with ice making all foes a cakewalk with Tenfold Flurry regardless of having blast arrows or not, plus being able to reposition with Cutting Wind and stun enemies with Dazzle Blast makes Daggers a great tool for Ranger.
    Mystic Knight is just broken and can be used to solo the game with just a bit of practice, but in the hands of a master player can turn Hardmode into "Journalist mode" due to how insanely versatile and strong it is, plus being able to perfect parry Exequy makes the Vocation immortal on BitterBlack Isle, not to mention just how insanely overpowered it's skills are if properly combined.
    Assassin is, interesting to say the least, cause with Force Hatchet and Dragon's Ire you can easily stroll through the game one-shoting everything as though it had 1hp, but any sword with shield makes you a more agile yet less defensive Fighter, and then daggers are just a cheat code for activating "Journalist mode" due to Masterful Kill which if buffed up with augments and periapts allows it to one-shot practically everything and two-shot everything else.
    Sorcerer is undoubtedly the strongest due to how versatile it damage types can be due to its' vast list of spells, but just strolling through BitterBlack Isle with High Bolide, High Maelstrom, High Gicel, High Seism, High Fulmination, and Grand Ingle makes the entire place a cakewalk if you cast your spells from around corners or just outside enemy aggro range, plus being able to apply weapon buffs like Mage allows it to abuse Holy-Focused Bolt for insane damage and respectable healing.
    Strider is astounding due to the well balanced mix of dagger based melee and shortbow ranged combat, and when combined with strong aoe bow skills and powerful single-target dagger skills allows it to adapt to situations the easiest of all Vocations, and if you can get Dragon's Ire enemies who are immune to physical damage will melt thanks to it and Downpour Volley, plus Dazzle Blast is great for when you need to stun and Cutting Wind for a quick reposition, and then Helm Splitter is amazing since it can shred healthbars and prevent all fall damage.
    Magick Archer is the literal personification of "Journalist mode" it can shred enemies with magick from its' magick bow which has auto-lock thus eliminating the need to aim properly, and then Magick Archers' dagger skills can shred enemies, heal you with ease to the point of eliminating the need for healing items in most circumstances, but the one downside that it has to keep it in line with the others is the fact that it's stat gain per level is roughly 1/3rd that of all other Vocations but that does mean that all stats level up more evenly as you level as Magick Archer, thus allowing you to more easily switch to the others despite them being weaker then what they could be if you focused on them.

      Come on Magic Archer isn't Journalist mode. The game predates bad gaming journalism* by at least 4 years and you still have to unlock it. Its more along the lines of Isekai Protagonist Power Fantasy mode.

      Can you get a refund 😂. The game is awful imo. The story is non existent. The graphics are ok considering the age and combat is good but I've never ever been so bored in an open world game. Some of the locations are ok but getting there is just a slog. You literally traverse through a bland dull empty world on foot to get to your location then run back again once your done. I found there was nothing that was of any interest. Other fantasy rpgs like skyrim witcher 3 even dragon age had a charm and lore that made you want to explore and discover things but this was just such a dull world you spend majority of it just running to get to the next task. I will say some of the attention to detail is not bad.your characters build effects certain situations and stuff which is a nice touch but for me personally when I delve into an open world map I like to be immersed and I like a world with points of interest and unfortunately this didn't cut it for me. Add in the sorcerer's faster casting augment and the Wyrm King Ring and you have yourself a strong counter spell casting machine. 🧙‍♂️🗡️🛡️

    Man. I’ve played this game for years, and I gotta say, Mystic Knight with Assassin augments, learning enemy movesets, is 100% the most busted vocation in the game. You can solo anything in the game with just Abyssal Anguish. Grab a decent one hander and laugh as you take away full health bars per swing on end game content that’s supposed to be difficult. With one spell cast. And the parries just add to the versatility of the class. The yellow vocations are all super strong as well. I’d probably put mystic archer and assassin right below mystic knight for me. My play style just fits really well with the parrying skills and heavy hitting melee attacks. Coming from thousands of hours in the souls series to this game back in the day just made it my preferred way to play. Love the content, love that you point out that even the lower ranked ones in this list have their uses. Keep it up! I made it through end game Outward cuz of your vids. Always super well informed and helpful can’t wait for you to cover some Dragon’s Dogma 2 content when it finally comes out

      I'm at my first playthrough, rolling an assassin and think about how well it will be since I want to use only a single sword, no shields or bows.
      But I learned that mystic fighter is too dependant of shield, so I don't know if I should move on.

    • @SotiCoto
      @SotiCoto 8 месяцев назад

      I've spent ages putting together ultra balanced stat builds for DD, and I've never featured Magick Archer in any of them. The only reason Mage gets in on the action is because it is the best from 0 to 10, but useless thereafter. Magick Archer, however, is a trap. its effectiveness hinges entirely on having high magick and physical attack, but it barely contributes anything to either... yet it has the easiest possible gameplay to bait low-level players into using it.
      The best approach is to wait until level 200 before even touching it. In simplest terms, Level 1-10 Mage, 11 to 100 Assassin and 101 to 200 Sorcerer will make for a pretty strong build that can play MA effectively.

    High granpel absolutely trivializes most encounters in the game, including some of the harder BBI fights.
    It is akward that you have to support your pawns so much, but even with mages lower magick attack HFB is still works well enough.
    Now none of these classes are exactly great, it’s really just personal pref which is worse.

  • @mateusmessias360
    @mateusmessias360 Год назад +36

    My vote goes to Sorcerer. Its very strong, you can get holy focused bolt very early, and its the best class when it comes to mobs of weak enemies. Sure its not the strongest, and it certainly isn't the most engaging(I'll be the first to admit just holding and releasing light attack, with the occasional spell that takes half the fight to cast, can get boring fast). But between the guy who swings a sword really well, the guy who shoots a bow really well, and the guy who commands a facet of the universe to call down lightning, summon massive tornados, and cause meteor showers to attack their enemies, I know who I want to be.
    And besides, after a certain point unless you are actively trying to weaken yourself you will steamroll just about every enemy in the game, so it becomes more about looking cool than being optimal. And I've never seen anything in any RPG half as cool as a party of Sorcerers synching spells to unleash the apocalypse on an unsuspecting group of bandits.

    Overall, pretty good. I'd do it a little differently, but I think a lot of that comes down to personal preference.
    I'd keep Magick Archer as #1, but move Sorcerer to number 2, because magic is really op. There are several common enemies you can't kill without magic, but no enemies you can't kill with magic, thanks to Exequy and the phys component of Gicel.
    Also, Levitate is better than double jump, a Sorc or Mage can collect all "From a Different Sky" medals by themselves, but a Strider will need to change class for a few of them.
    It's also worth mentioning that Daemon's second form is a pretty miserable fight for a Strider, and given the importance of farming BBI weapons and armor, that's a notable mark against them. It can be powered through with Explosive Arrows, but that's an extra cost per BBI run the top two classes don't have.
    Strider is still my favorite class, but I'd say they belong in the 3rd spot.

    I do feel like this ranking was based on your personal preference, and that's totally fine, but I do want to point out a few things.
    An assassin with a sword has access to full moon slash, and that'll guarantee thay they have a way to avoid damage with the invincibility frames. So sword/bow is certainly a thing.
    I'm surprised that you didn't mention spiral arrow, and how it's the best vocation at inflicting status ailments. You only need to carry a few special arrows & can set yourself up for some big damage.
    Sorcerer can do a little bit of physical damage. Gicel actually does 1/3 of it's damage as physical damage, so they can actually take out golems of both variety. This also points to how magick archer will actually suffer against metal golem since all of their range attacks are magic. Without a pawn to reach the high disks, they'll be forced to do some warrior shenanigans to reach a disk so high up.
    Strider can just equip some elemental daggers & then helm split ghosts.

The instant the Griffin lands on the sigil, it just goes up in flames and dies instantly.

    The warrior and fighter carry hard in the early game, but by late game BBI they feel more like supports for the ranged vocations. Having played a fair amount of warrior, it can get through all the content, but my first playthroughs were with ranger and assassin, and the difference is massive. Hopefully DD2 gives warriors something to make them less gimped by their range and lack of magic damage.
    Personally, I think they should buff "Arc of Deliverance" so it completely ignores all resistances when fully charged. Both Audacity and Temerity should be core skills instead of augments, as no other vocation really makes use of them, at least not to the extent that warrior can. There's no point where you don't want the benefits these augments provide. It's not like the other vocations, that can comfortably pick and choose what augments they want without sacrificing deeps. Getting knocked out of Arc is a huge damage loss, especially for one of the melee vocations that has to work the hardest for its damage.

    I mostly agree my top 3 are your top 3 my bottom 3 are also your bottom 3 the only thing I'd like to add is living armour isn't immune to magick it has around 1500 magick defense if I remember correctly hence why you can kill them with 9fold bolt(it deals pure magick) now there are ways to bypass that 1500 defense easily with all of the magick based classes(yes even mages high comestion has 800 base magick damage without the variable amount added by cote and weapon magick) as for toughest enemies to fight with as a sorcerer golems are harder than metal golems(ironically) the reason being is that (high) mealstorm can pull disks together and when the enemies are close together bolide does a s... ton of damage (with quite good physical power) one high mealstorm and one grand bolide either kills a metal golem Or leaves it very nearly dead based on your magick stats

    dude im just now getting into this game. I had it on switch for awhile even then I never got into it on switch. The animations/combat in this game feel like someones making a massive joke. Like it feels like a elden ring type game but with very outdated graphics. They were seriously ahead of its time and im so sad I didnt know about this game on release. It would have been my favorite game of all time forreal.

    All pawns have knowledge of battles. Read over their knowledge of enemies and they'll have a way to bring flyers down and make quick work of most too. Mage is primarily just a healer/support depending on what skills are equipped.

    Warrior - Why allow the enemy a time to recover?
    Fighter - Why should I ever get hit? (Also don't bother Blocking just I-frame)
    Mage - I have no Idea...
    Sorcerer - F_ck this particular Goblin with a Tornado, or the North Pole.
    Mystic Knight - The Prodigy.
    Strider - No Brain vocation... Actually not kidding.
    Assassin - Jack of all trades.
    Ranger - Just fun overall.
    Magick Archer - Lose that brain and just Unga Bunga.

    Hey! I'm actually playing DD2 and i was looking back for theses classes.
    Not totally agree for the Mystic Knight weakness because if i remember correctly, you can boost your cast so much (i don't remember if this is with a ring or spell 🤔) that you can rename it to a "Sorcerer Knight" 😂 I hope for a good dlc with that class!
    Good video!

    A weird flex saying Mystic Knight is middle of the pack, seeing as it's one of the strongest classes in the game

    I was actually kind of expecting magic knight to be lower on the list, it gets memed on a ton, as one of the few people who actually main magic knight (listen you kill the Ur dragon solo it does something) gotta say very impressive
