"Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?" Is one of the most powerful rhymes I've ever heard

As a genuine metalhead since the time I could walk, I feel qualified saying this: this chorus has one of the sickest grooves of all time. Holy fuck.
Sounds very thrash. Has that old school feel with it, especially during the bridge

This was some of their worst work. It's still catchy as hell and I've been singing it for two days, but it's not quite SOAD. It's commerical SOAD. Toxicity was definitely the epitome of SOAD

After our first 4 years of decreasing war worldwide 👍
We eliminated ISIS, rapidly, and got out of Iraq. We've effectively ended the war in Afghanistan by reducing our troop presence to 2,500 "just in case" guys, we prevented a war with Syria, deflected from what looked like an inevitable war with Iran, kept peace with Russia despite many dicey situations, and avoided potential war with Korea with diplomacy. "Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?" Really the most relevant statement in any war.
democrasy shit. a lot of "self-righteous" kings of the dark ages lie on ground with his peasant soldiers but our democrat leaders of "the people" are too important for to die in a battleground. i think if the kings had oppurnity of sending kids to school after their 5 age, they'll think either monarchy is the best goverment type for human honour. but we're living in republics so we think republics are best.
what does the first line even mean, and yes lets just send the richest people on earth to fight
@@luluna5228 Why is it that the people that declare the wars never have to fight them
Exactly. They won’t even let their family sign up for anything. Nothing. If there is a draft, guess who’s not a citizen here but are in Barbados or some other exotic place. They use dog whistle words like us and freedom and respect and we are better. Everyone wants to come to 😮America. We are just a fancy lie dressed in a beautiful facade with a silver tongue. Actually they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore. Some just come out and say it like jfk speaking of secret governments that are the ones calling the shots. It’s collapsing though and that scares me because we don’t even belong to ourselves. The autonomy they promised, was sold ages ago. Smh 😔

I get that metal isn’t for everyone, but soad is by far on of the best bands out there imo. The worst part about listening to them is realizing that there’s no other band like them
I strongly agree with you
I'm one of those who would swear on a stack the "metal isn't for me". So I justified liking System of a Down by just not thinking of them as metal. For the longest, I thought of them as some sort of 'neo-punk' or 'hard alternative'. Yeah, I was good at fooling mysrlf. Anyway, a rose by another name....
They arent my favorite, but one thing I can agree with you is that there is no other band like them.

This song gives you much needed breaks in between the intensity of the heavy guitar riffs and pulsating drums. Then at one point when you feel almost relieved because you think the song is over, it explodes back to life and shoves the controlled chaos right down your throat again against your will and you can't help but love every second of it.
People are calling this song a "Masterpiece" and I have to agree.
Anahí - Rumba ft. Wisin ------- Anahí - Rumba ft. Wisin ----- Anahí - Rumba ft. Wisin

Aye yo!
Those " much needed breaks" are the comparison to people who actually pay attention to what is happening in the world, and the oblivious to just want to party and not pay attention to anything political and hear buzzwords and throw their votes away because that's what CNN told them to do.
Controlled chaos is the name of my band that I’m making in 5 years
The chorus is so sardonic. I love how the final one is literally SLASHED by the "Where the f*ck are you???", they are literally trying to get people out of their trance, and this is reflected in the song's structure. Masterpiece.
Works for me
yes mocking pop its phenomenal
I get that exact feeling of them getting you out of the trance at the beginning when he screams “why do they always send the poor?” With such a screeching sound. How can one ignore after that?

[Verse 2: Serj Tankian]
Kneeling roses disappearing into Moses' dry mouth
Breaking into Fort Knox, stealing our intentions
Hangars sitting dripped in oil, crying, "Freedom!"
Handed to obsoletion, still, you feed us lies from the tablecloth
[Chorus: Serj Tankian with Daron Malakian]
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, ooh-ooh
Everybody's going to the party, have a real good time
Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine
Everybody's going to the party, have a real good time
Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sun
[Refrain: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian]
Where the fuck are you?

Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
[Outro: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian]

System of a down is SO good. For how much recognition theyve gotten I could STILL say theyre underated. Theyre definitely worth what theyve gotten and much more.

Your right!
@Sonickillerthatbeaner It makes me want cry freedom
Is it just me or does this song just keep getting more relevant as time goes on. Love this song and video.
Always people in power who seek to make us all their slaves.
Vaccine mandates hitting hard
Indentured servants to an overbearing government.
The nature of man is not so easily changed. There's a reason why very old books with teachings / observations to that fact remain hauntingly relevant no matter how many years go by.
It has been relevant from inception, its been this way for a long time, the system is repetitive
“And we don’t live in a fascist nation” oh my sweet summer child
Back in the 1900’s B.Y.O.B meant “Bring your own beer.” People often used this term (B.Y.O.B) for partying.
But in this instance it means “Bring your own bombs.”
and it is used as Bring your own bag as well in grocery stores lol
Thanks
Or, it can be:"Bring Your Own Boobs". 💎💎
I think it can also mean "bring your own brain".
