The best thing about System of a Down is that nearly all of their songs can be considered "their best song". All of their songs are amazing and unique, I might even go so far as to say they have never made a bad song.

It's neither Oriental nor Spanish. SOAD all derive from Armenia and have openly said they use lots of sounds with a Middle Eastern influence in their works.

This band still towers over most of what comes out anymore. Ive had these guys on my playlist for prolly 15+ years now. Sad that their creative differences get in the way but theyll always be in my hall of fame.
Creative differences aside, I saw them last year in Las Vegas at Sick New World Concert, also my birthday, Best Birthday EVER! Not gonna lie the program was full of so many bands I wanted/needed to see, at times I was overwhelmed and leaking awsomeness from my eyes, and SOAD was the last band of the night. Amazing show! Definitely a Bucket List Show for me.
This is one of the songs I was listening to when I OD'd back when I was 15 (32 now). I went into a coma for a day and a half and had a near death experience. I still don't know what happens when we die, but I did hear what they call the music of the spheres and see a bright light, which I understand have empirical explanations. Fuck, I'm glad I got through that. I love SoaD but had kind of forgotten about this song. Weirdest nostalgia I've ever felt
Me encanta esta canción. . Me dio fuerzas . Cuando estaba en un momento oscuro de mi adolescencia, solo me ayudó a llevarlo un poco mas . .Como te encuentras hoy
Wow, in 14 I had a NDE and heard/saw/felt the MUSIC in HEAVEN/World above us. Saw the STARS as ANCESTORS who WELCOMED ME HOME...then was taken into some initiatory procedure/ceremony or something and placed back here and knew MANY FUTURE EVENTS...that have mostly ALL COME TO PASS NOW...and I too, was JAMMING these tunes. Maybe there's something in the FREQUENCIES TRYING TO AWAKEN US before we PERISH without NOWING anything of SIGNIFICANCE. More happened, seemingly EONS of things...not enough TIME here to tell it all. But we're THE ALIENS here...we don't BELONG HERE. So much MORE to LIFE. This world is TEMPORAL. We are not. CONGRATS on your JOURNEY!
This is one of my all time favorites from them because of the way everything just works together so perfectly in this song. And this is present in all their songs but it’s especially noticeable here. From the kickass guitar and bass with the percussion to the incredible intertwining of Daron and Serj’s voices just coming together beautifully. I’ve never heard a band whose members voices could come together quite as incredibly gracefully as SOAD. As a musician of 9 years, their writing and attention to detail is fucking incredible.
LOL ! Yes the artistic performance is very successful I agree however the message of the text means nothing Theologically it's very poor I don't know what message they want to send but it's rubbish
I absolutely fucking love the way it balances. You have Serj with a scream, Daron with a powerful note, and Serj with a weak and creeping note. Incredible texture and balance and one of my all time favourite moments in music

I love the _anger_ that this song ends with. The journey of emotions, from anxiety and curiosity, to hurt and desperation, and it definitely ends with all those but dipped in fury.
My husband was the same way, except SOAD went with him through his 20s. Probably the same time you were in your teens. :) The music has that eternal quality of excellence.
Now I feel old. I was 22 years old when this came out. Hard to imagine that some people know this because their parents listened to it. In my imagination parents only listen to 50ies-70ies music 😆

Sweet berries ready for two, ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you, are you dreaming?
[Pre-Chorus: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian]
Dreaming the night

Do we, do we know
When we fly?
When we, when we go
Do we die?

Thanks. I have now lost my voice
(Without being alive?)
This song is so fucking beautiful.
Words literally pale, it's so incredibly powerful, true art.
When listening to SOAD tracks, it feels like there is a story behind every track i listen to... Their music is so pure yet aggressive, its purely awesome...
Exactly!
OHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
???????????
No Offence but most songs do ill name u three difrent artist who do Rise Against Three Doors Down Linkin Park 4 more Eminem Three Days Grace Black Sabbath Stone Sour 2more Slipknot Five Finger Death Punch need i go on?
Oh yes, I agree so much, especially songs like Vicinity of Obscenity has such an inspiring story behind it
Took me 19 years to fully appreciate this song…that final chorus is one of the most beautifully melodic pieces of music I have ever heard
I love how half of these thumbnails are just Serj making some kind of face
All of their clips except Lonely day
And they're awesome
So what's the deal with System of a Down? They're not a system and they're not a down!
@@olivervarga-kiss8267 lonely day is daron making a weird face
@@YehudiNimol Thanks, Jerry.
@@madmex2kdamn it sure sounds like the last dying wish concert, missed opportunity I see...for me that is
One more album. That all I'm asking for.
Alfred Cristopher fuck off
LingLingTheUltimate sooooon so sooooon
2:04 best part. The way daron and serj delivery "dreaming all right" + the way serj smiles and looks up. Love this clip and this song
Damn imagine if youtube and social media was bigger back then. These guys would have above 500million views in most vids
I was just thinking that. How crazy their view count is and RUclips wasn’t really a thing when it came out.
For sure they could have been big no question
This is one of the songs I was listening to when I OD'd back when I was 15 (32 now). I went into a coma for a day and a half and had a near death experience. I still don't know what happens when we die, but I did hear what they call the music of the spheres and see a bright light, which I understand have empirical explanations. Fuck, I'm glad I got through that. I love SoaD but had kind of forgotten about this song. Weirdest nostalgia I've ever felt
Glad you're still with us.
🙏
I don't need caffeine i'll just listen to a System of a Down track
That's enough for three days
Listen Finnish and Swedish metal. It's more than caffeine and SOAD.
Is how i wake up today after 5h and im like tanananna tananaaa
But if you do like caffeine and System of a Down, then try some of Serj's Kavat coffee. It's Armenian.
Wow, thanks for idea. I'll write how it went tommorow morning
And the fact that Daron can sing his heart out while playing super fast riffs is also amazing
remember when slt opened for soad.. so
sick !!!

Jerry and Layne
LOL ! Yes the artistic performance is very successful I agree however the message of the text means nothing Theologically it's very poor I don't know what message they want to send but it's rubbish
IMHO, one of the best songs ever written. I still get chills nearly 15 years on.
Me too man. Fucking masterpiece. My favorite band ever. One of the most unique ever.
1:12 Arguably one of the best vocal harmonies.
"when we go do we die"
that's very deep.
How could i forget SOAD ?!! I grew up with these songs
Nikolai Dantzler Tbh its my best song now :D

That wild lunatic scream at 2:28 though. My favorite part
I absolutely fucking love the way it balances. You have Serj with a scream, Daron with a powerful note, and Serj with a weak and creeping note. Incredible texture and balance and one of my all time favourite moments in music
2:50

Such an incredible song and after so many years it still hits just as hard.

Reminds me of Metallica for some reason idk why
love the extra screams at the end
Friend: so is SOAD prog, punk, numetal, metal, metalcore, psychedelic rock, jazz or a power ballad band?
Me: yes.
Soad is art
*h*
power ballad 🤣

System will forever live rent free in my brain. And hopefully comes with me when I die.
Best rock or metal group ever. Period.

The hertz in this song has me breaking tears and goose butters every single time. They hold that note towards the end and i just melt
Brazil here. My heart is burning listening this music.

I don't understand how to read music sadly
first is also 5/8 there is no 9/8 in this song
@@FearOfTheTrooper actually he is right, its 9/8.

I love the _anger_ that this song ends with. The journey of emotions, from anxiety and curiosity, to hurt and desperation, and it definitely ends with all those but dipped in fury.
if music could kill, I'd die happy
+able2ful1 Fucking true.
just the right words to describe me right now.
This song is so beautiful & always gives me a little of a haunting vibe. It brings back to memory the paranormal experiences I've had.
This band was my shit when I was 8! My dad listened to them all the time and I'm still rocking to it at 18!
Michael Anderz how about 19?
dude it's metal, not rock
My husband was the same way, except SOAD went with him through his 20s. Probably the same time you were in your teens. :) The music has that eternal quality of excellence.
@Thoubaan Pillay?
Now I feel old. I was 22 years old when this came out. Hard to imagine that some people know this because their parents listened to it. In my imagination parents only listen to 50ies-70ies music 😆
Back in 2005 this music video's kinda creeps me out. It's somehow giving me the Sleepy Hollow vibe. But I literally fell in love with this song.
This song saved my life
Just_ that_guy _YK well I'm glad there a lot of band that saved me I'm glad this band was ur
SOAD is one of the most unique sounding bands in metal. I’ve never heard anyone like them.
His voice reminds me of my father, it’s nice to have a memory so intertwined with music. After all, grief is the only human condition we share.
System Of A Downis the most unique band that has ever existed

Christian Gozo was. Was in 2005.
Arkadiusz Siepiela Still are.
Still the best going around, my all time favourite
I remember that they released this video first on their website, and they emailed us members a code to access it. I didn't have internet service at home, so I went to the internet cafe several times just to listen to this song that wasn't on MTV or anywhere else yet. Almost 20 years from that. Time flies, SOAD is forever.
Coming back to this hell of a song once in a while just to get amazed again and again at how great the energy and feelings are in it.
Love it!
I first heard this song when I was 12 jus found out my mother died this song was playing as I found out
I will never get over how good this song is.
Thank you
