@@jessiewalker8547 That whole period post Katrina when he went back to pure singing. I think Walk Through Exits Only did a number on his voice though.. The best he sounded since was 2019 onwards. He's the best he's been since 2009 now. But 2014-2016, Jesus that was a painful period.

So I'm 45 and I had the NOLA CD back in 1995 and for some reason I didn't listen to it that much. Then Down 2 came out and I remember my buddy and I were in the car when Mississippi came on as their single and we were like hell yeah man new Down. But for some goddammm reason I still didn't listen to them. So now I have a teenager and thanks to fuckin Spotify fuckin Down Is all I listen too! Iove this band. I hope a new tour happens soon so I can take my kid.
You can tell Phil is feeling it during this show. He's in complete command of the stage and the crowd

Maaan, read my comment. DOWN was a Super Band right up to Dime Bash 16.
DOWN was lined up for a North American Tour. The Manager of the Band, totally dropped the ball. Phil had been Banned from Dime Bash until this one. Phil showed up Drunk! A Manager of a Band is to, at the least, keep the Band from Destruction. Phil was among enemies that night. Phil partially blamed himself for Dime's Death. Phil's Manager should of been keeping Phil Cool that night. Instead of socializing like it was a party he was invited to. Anyway, after Phil doomed the Band. The Manager did the worst thing & just threw his arm over Phil's shoulder and walked away with him. The P.A. was unplugged. End of Show.
That Manager should of had Phil on that microphone spinning everything Phil had said. If you missed it. Phil Yells Out:
" White Power ! " complete with the:
' Seig Hiel ' Nazi Salut. This was said in defiance to a bunch of Social Justice Left-wing Socialist who paid their way in for the sole purpose of accusing Phil Anselmo of being a Nazi. Which, is kinda silly because Phil Anselmo is Sicilian. Louisiana was settled by the French and the Sicilians. A lot of immigrants were tempted by the free Land Grants being issued after the Louisiana Purchase. My point is Sicilians have African DNA. The Island of Sicily was conquered by The Moors, which were from Africa and thus were Black. At one time The Sicilians and Southern Italians had fair skin and blonde hair with blue eyes. Like the Norwegians of Today. I know because, I have been there. My point is Phil Anselmo knows this history. He was drunk and like people who are drunk do, he acted stupidly.
He apologized. He paid a lot of money to appease his distractors. He apologized further. The fact of the matter is hard-core Pantera fans don't care, nor do hard-core DOWN fans ! This 16 year old uploaded it to the Internet and Damn him for doing it !
I was going to see DOWN live during that tour. Now nobody will ever see them live again because free speech does not exist & the Far Left has made America into a place where mere words spoken from a drunk are taken to heart. No, it's all about Control & we Americans are no better than Cattle. I have killed for this Country & I risked All, so many times that, I don't even know. So, what kind of fool am, I. Saw these guys at Soundwave in Australia earlier this year and I'll tell you what man, every band thing you'll ever hear about Down (not like there's any anyway) will be completely obliterated! Underrated as hell and definitely one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. Phil's said it before and I'll mention it here, you don't need amazing fireworks and light shows to create a performance, it's all apart of the music

Im not an expert at all, but for me this was the last time or at least i could listen to phil s voice sounding like a thunder as always...after 2009 que went down.
Also what i will never understand is why Down doesnt sound as heavy as they sound in their records. This live concert is extremely tight and heavy, i cannot hear that after Nola. Moreover, i thinkin Nola we can still hear Some Pantera n phil´s voice, not in their following records.
This concert is outstanding an Phil´s voice is better than ever. Even better, way better than their live record Diary of a mad band.

I'm loving this! I absolutely love Phil- his smartass attitude & all. He doesn't seem to sound as "mad & pissed off" when he's singing, as he did back in the Pantera days...drugs probably have a lot to do w/ that. I'm so glad he's continuing to live his life drug free! He sounds great this way.
