Fearsome stuff. Got the album with the now deleted "Cop Killer" in 1992, and thought it was great. Ice T was also responsible for one of the greatest rap/metal crossovers with "Midnight", on his brilliant "OG" set a year earlier. Body Count are up there with Bad Brains, Death and Living Colour for sheer power and intensity. Wow !
Ice-T is a brilliant performer & singer/rapper and Body Count are a genuinely great band. Thanks for the upload Gustavo. And just for the few people that mention it in their comments, there are many Hip-Hop artists that use a full band when playing live, just as there are other artists that you might call proper musicians that use all the electronic gizmos they want in the studio, so please don't dismiss a style of music entirely because of a perception that just isn't correct. End of rant.
Six years after your comment and your right even more. In 2019 it seemed like the "rock" bands were soft and the hip hop and r and b folks were nailing it.
I have to disagree in one thing: this is not hip hop. This is METAL! So Ice-T is a brilliant metal singer, when in Bodycount. But hey, congrats on your great taste of music, my friend.

O cara é foda. A transição do gangasta rap para uma das bandas mais pesadas de Heavy Metal não é para qualquer um. Tive a sorte de vê-los no antigo Imperator no Méier em que fizeram uma jam session com o Slayer. Noite inesquecível
Black Sabbath is the father of all heavy metal, but in 1968 they were the Earth Blues Company. Several songs on their debut album, like Evil Woman and Wicked World, are blues songs with distortion. Motorhead is the father of thrash metal, but their debut had On Parole and Lost Johnny, their Overkill album had Limb from Limb, the Bomber album had Lawman and Step Down. Venom, father of black and death metal had blues bits in "Teachers Pet" and a tune called "Blackened Blues" on Fallen Angels.
Body Count and Slayer caught my attention back in 1980's, I am glad Ice T is still doing it, he is still angry and their music is legit and better then ever. Ice T by now is a rich man, he is a big movie star, but he didn't forget where he came from. He toned down his show a little bit at Whacken, I guess he didn't want to scare the Germans too much. But here he is back in form , hard core.
I love hardcore music by bands with an attitude who are the real shit, and when Body Count lays their shit out, you know instantly they are some real OG motherfuckers When he was still alive, The true God of all hardcore metal ,Lemmy Killmister, leader and founder of Motorhead, the undisputed best badass hardcore band of all time, said Body Count was one of the best hardcore bands out there. Lemmy was one of Ice T's influences and they became good friends. I'm a white guy and don't get into much hip hop except for the early gangsta shit like Public Enemy and NWA. and when it comes to music, I"m colorblind and don't give a shit about someone's background. All I pay attention to is whether it is the real shit or if it sucks dog dicks. What I know for sure is that Body Count is high in my rotation of drivin' music. I have a $3000 custom built stereo system in my van and there's nothing better than cranking that motherfucker way up and hauling ass down the road with some heavy shit blastin' so hard that the subs make your vision blurry and your teeth rattle.
Is there a better speed metal guitarist than Ernie C.? Reminds me a bit of Prince, in some of his live performance clips you can find these days. Got the same "All right, white boys, let me show you how this is done" kind of vibe...

This isn't even as heavy as the lighter stuff I listen to, but it's not bad at all. And extra credit to them for using a double bass drum over a double bass pedal. Extra props in my book.
Mike Greenwalt well anyone can have two kick drums, even punk bands can simulate the sound while playing fast with one kick so them being a metal band and having two kicks isn't surprising. but if you would've read it properly, i was commenting on you saying they aren't heavy. go to one of their shows. they're playing the mayhem festival this year. go to that and tell me they aren't heavy. that's why i assumed, i guess incorrectly now, you were only into death metal.
And I was commenting about the idiotic assumptions about my character. "Oh, he doesn't think they're that heavy. Must be some metal elitist that only likes a certain genre." If Mayhem Fest's lineup wasn't complete shit aside from these guys and a couple others, I'd consider going. And yes, plenty of bands use the double kick, but for ease of packing and carrying, just stick to the pedal. I didn't bash the band in the slightest and you're defending them for something I never did. And you automatically assume by heavy I mean death growls. Cute. Go listen to Seventh Wonder. Heavy prog, no growls. For the record, my band is doom, not death. And most of what I listen to these days ranges from power and symphonic to melodeath. I don't wander into the extreme stuff too often.

Historically this band is really important to the punk/metal/rap community in LA in the late 80's early 90's. You guys need to listen to Ice T's lyrics on the whole album.. Really political and he had a lot to say. No band like this for its time, not even Suicidal. For you guys only focusing on the metal aspect of this are totally missing the entire mission statement of this group.

Black Sabbath intro from the Black Sabbath debut album is on the Freedom Of Speech album.
