    Fluid Sonority program notes:
Sonority is the quality of a speech sound. I like this word and use it often in different languages to express the poetic of "speech sounds" of my musical works (Formes differentes de Sonneries de la Rose+Croix, Sonority of Dynamical Heart, Kafanski Sonoritet).
Linguists divide sonorities into three broad categories, vowels, voiced or voiceless consonants, and glides. Sonorous sounds describe speech that is full, rich, and deep, while sonority is also a great word for bass voices, such as low notes on the euphonium and tuba.
Composition Fluid Sonority is written after an invitation from Julia Soulsby and Castin York to compose euphonium and tuba duo, the performing media that I have not tried before. It is conceived as a dialogue between these gentle giants. The work is structured as smooth, continuous, amorphous substance made of serious of tones that are freely flowing, easily changing register, articulation, shape, or movement. The resonance of one sound segment phrases in relation to another as well as silence between them could potentially reveal the world of echoing harmonics, real or imagined.
