Kathleen, this was a beautiful video full of ideas and inspiration! Your color scheme throughout this journal is different and very lovely. The colors are a bit more than your typical soft pastels but not bold by any means. Your combinations of pieces to make clusters was also great because you did not indulge in overused images. This is great. I like learning the tips and techniques you use while watching a journal come together. I’m new to this and find this extremely useful. Will watch again and jot some notes and make a list. Ty.
I made powders from broken-off pieces of pastels and Inktense blocks. I put them in a scrap of muslin, tied up with a rubber band. I often rub them over a whole page , to tint the paper before drawing.

Your stenciling techniques has inspired me to try using different colors and especially adding the chalk for dimension. I got a box of art chalk at a thrift store the other day and wanted to know what to do with them.

Thank you so much Roxie! I’m really glad that I can inspire some ideas for you. It actually took me several hours to prep this one, because I made all the elements ahead of time - one work day and a bit the second day. I then set up and filmed the next day, which took me until late afternoon - hence the comment about losing light, haha. Then I spent the evening editing -well over an hour of actual time captured into 36 minutes, then did the thumbnail and description and all of those details. So that took several hours as well. It honestly is quite a process.

This was such a good video with so many ideas. I feel like I need to watch it again and take notes. You really have a great way of using the decorations to bring the entire journal together, and it looks so lovely. I love that aqua blue color; it looks so pretty with the other colors you used to add color to the plain pages. That aqua seems to look good with just about every color that it's used with. Thank you for this very inspiring and informative video--and the time it took you to prepare for it and make it.

I am always inspired by your videos, so I thank you for all that you share with us. It is obvious that you do a lot of planning and prep work before you start sharing with us. I am curious to know about how long all of that takes you, if you don't mind sharing?
Thank you so much Roxie! I’m really glad that I can inspire some ideas for you. It actually took me several hours to prep this one, because I made all the elements ahead of time - one work day and a bit the second day. I then set up and filmed the next day, which took me until late afternoon - hence the comment about losing light, haha. Then I spent the evening editing -well over an hour of actual time captured into 36 minutes, then did the thumbnail and description and all of those details. So that took several hours as well. It honestly is quite a process.
