A good chicken pot pie is definitely worth some excitement. And the way the narrator spoke, you'd think the villain was jumping up and down for joy over it... but he was just pleasantly anticipating its goodness. That is not a sin.

From listening to this guy, he sounds partially annoyed by things like this, but still kinda drinking the mass/social media koolaid when it comes to modern feminism (The narrative of which is largely things like this, women treating men like this, then having it entirely overlooked, while everything a man does is harshly scrutinized and never forgotten).

34:55 Whenever the movie "Armageddon" comes up in scientific circles, they tend explain in gratuitous detail why breaking apart an earth-shattering asteroid like you suggested Mark do with his fists would be a terrible idea. I think on that the show probably did their research on that one. Throwing it out into space would actually objectively be the best course of action considering how unimaginably vast space is compared with how far apart things in space tend to be from each other. The likelihood Mark would hit anything with that asteroid, much less an actual planet that is currently supporting life is unbelievably low.
Honestly a really good point. But this does only apply to real world space. In the invincible universe there are tons of planets with life including the closest, Mars.
@@okaygavin5854 If you throw an asteroid into space the likelihood of it hitting anything is basically 0. Space is unimaginably empty, also in the Invincible universe. Hitting mars by throwing an asteroid at it is like hitting a needle ear on the moon with a dart thrown from earth. You need to be accurate as hell to do that.
@@zagreus5773 Actually the likelihood is closer 100%. Since the invincible universe has tons of planets with life that extend out to their entire universe (which isnt only vast, but could be infinite) AND the asteroid would be moving at the exact same speed due to the lack of friction, it's going to hit something eventually. From what weve seen theres a lot more planets with life then without in the invincible universe. Like I said to the other guy, our space isnt there space. Summary, someones planet is most likely screwed. In the improbable case that it isnt, another object in space is going to be destroyed or damaged on impact when thay asteroid eventually does hit something. Lastly this convo is old. Best to not bother people in cases like this. You have the freedom to do so of course, but decency is another thing you have the freedom to do. Thanks and bye 👋
@@okaygavin5854 You clearly have no idea of how large and empty the universe is. Look up how far the next star is. Then check out what gravity is. That asteroid wouldn't even leave the solar system, just fly around the sun for millions or billions of years, undisturbed.
@15:38. Atom Eve cannot, in fact, use her powers on live organisms-only inorganic or dead matter. The show doesn’t really get into it, but the comics do explain that it was a mental inhibition that was installed by the same experiment that gave her powers. I’d sin it for her not simply using her abilities to immediately destroy all the Flaxan’s gear or the show not explaining this limitation.
but she built her treehouse out of a literal tree. thats organic. maybe youre right, but that means the tv show completely ignores whatever powers were already stated in the comics, so ding the ding ig.
Yeah, she definitely seems like she should be WAY more powerful than what the show suggests. I guess they're doing that cop-out cliche of muting an OP character's abilities until the plot demands them to go all out.
It's pretty rare in my experience that comics translate well to screen. I mean, 25ish years, and they still haven't done a truly good screen adaption of Doomsday from the Superman comics. There is so much unused, and under-used content from that entire story arc. It's understandable when you're failing to squeeze an entire novel into a two hour movie, that you can't get it all in, but their failure to accurately represent comic books on screen, is just a disappointment to say the least.
@@magtinfal7908 If you mean the animated one, it was probably the most accurate but it was like a tiny preview of the actual story from the comics, and only one small part of the overall story. A lazy attempt at best. an attempt non the less, but that's the best they've done. Honestly, it feels that there's just no passion in Hollywood anymore at all. A relative handful of good shows and movies, but the only passion there is, in most cases, is wasted on toxic feminism, and woke nonsense. But hardly any apparent passion for the project itself.
@sizlax Yes I'm talking about the animated one. No I haven't read the comic of it yet, it is on my "to read" list tho. Personally I loved the movie but if the comic has a lot more I'll take your word for it. Oh it doesn't just feel like there's not passion in Hollywood, there is no passion in Hollywood anymore. Rexsplode was allowed on the team because his power is to transform potential energy into kinetic energy and it has no upper limit of the amount of mass he can convert. He could literally explode the planet. I think they were keeping him on a very short leash.
That is a valid point, if they had that ability like Gambit, He could destroy Omni-man by turning him into a bomb, Atom Eve can get her mental block fixed and literally turn him inside out, Dupli-Kate has no useful superpowers and made the team, the guy with no super powers made the team, and Monster Girl was the only one that actually has a regular-strength superpower. Throughout the season it’s hinted as to why Omni-Man waited to tell Mark the truth, the most important one was him expressing his disappointment in Mark getting his powers so late. Had Mark gotten his powers earlier, Omni-Man’s plan would’ve went into effect earlier. The fact that Mark got his powers in the first episode and it didn’t take a full season for him to perfect them should’ve gotten a sin off, most superhero shows milk it for a few episodes. Also, it being pointed out that an anonymous call called them to the penthouse was so the viewer could be aware that it was Omni-Man that made the call. Depends on biology. Their Blood or Nervous System might have a slight difference. Cyanide works by reacting with blood better than oxygen, so it takes up the place the Oxygen would. @@Canadian_Zac So, not to be an ass, but I've read the comics. A human/viltrimite hybrid is almost 100% viltrimite. It's so close the viltrimites consider them to BE viltrimites. However, while they can and do reproduce with other alien species, omniman having a child with another alien after leaving earth, those hybrids will never be anywhere near a viltrimite in terms of strength/ability, which is why they're never recognized as being of viltrimites heritage. I'm of the opinion that Amber was lying when Mark revealed his identity to her. She didn't know but told him she did out of some sort of "I'm smarter than you" mentality. Kids do that all the time. It doesn't make sense that she knew and didn't let on or the show doesn't say how she figured it out.

If I was a rich and powerful person and there were people with powers in the world, there's no way I'm hiring people without powers to protect anything. Also I do think both Mark and Amber at fault, but I dislike Amber more because she's clearly way too selfish. I say this because she thinks that not only should she be more important than the people that Mark has to save, but she also thinks spending time with her should be more important than the people he's saved even though she's known he's Invincible for months.
Yeah I thought the writer mishandled that interaction between Amber and Mark in ep 7, I really liked her character up to that point, but her saying that she knew Mark was a superhero for weeks changed the entire context of her behaviour in ep 6. When she broke up with Mark right after the Reaniman attack I thought she didn't know, I was on her side in that, I felt frustrated that Mark still couldn't tell her to save the relationship. But if she acted like that when she knew full well that Mark was the superhero that risked his life just a min ago to protect her? It's just completely toxic. But the other major problem I see now is that the writer seeming didn't know how toxic they made Amber look in ep 6. Based on what we saw in the finale when she got back together with Mark, she was still acting like everything that went wrong in the relationship was Mark's fault. Now a character can have flaws, they can make mistakes, Mark made plenty of them, and he was definitely a shitty boyfriend for the most part. But we are been made fully aware of that, everything wrong that Mark has done are highlighted and pointed out so he could learn. But for the writers to treat Amber like she didn't do anything wrong, and has nothing to apologise or feel bad about, that's what makes all her interaction with Mark very hard to watch right now. I hope the writers find a way to address it in the future, I too love the show otherwise
yeah it was pretty shitty, notice how the characters involved are basically on her side, not even saying that he should come clean and that will resolve the issue almost entirely as it would if she wasn't toxic. Like seriously is she going to argue against saving people if it hinders their couple plans? That's basically the opposite of Mark's mother practically begging Omniman on their vacation to save people. Sadly it happens a lot IRL that most people jump on the side of the woman even when she is being toxic. It's a symptom of over compensation for how terrible people treated women since the start of the dark ages, as well as the stereotypes against men and the positive stereotypes about women. It's even visible in the justice system worldwide, just the other day I was watching a documentary about a serial killer couple in Britain where the woman manipulated the guy into multiple murders and yet when it came to locking them away he received a much higher sentence. So Bonny and Clyde if only Clyde was fatally shot and Bonny was just captured. (proof that sometimes justice was still served) The studio probably wouldn't see anything wrong with their portrayal even if it was pointed out, remember that Amazon is the company that backed the train wreck they made out of possibly the greatest work of fantasy in the world. (Wheel of Time it's actually a better read then Tolkien's work) The wheel of time actually has a really great and positive message about equality, understanding, celebration of differences and working towards peace and plenty with people you disagree with but most people never get to read it since the beginning of the story has most of the characters being racist and sexist, since, you know; for there to be character growth towards working together and celebrating difference, people have to be sexist, racist, douchebags to begin with. Amazon made everyone that straight from the beginning among a thousand other things they messed up in favor of portraying the same message in a much stupider way that actually contradicts it in the same way Invincible handles Mark's relationship in a way that makes it incredibly toxic, while they think it's fine.
Amber was still quite awful from the start. Remember in episode 2 when Mark and Amber started calling each other is because Amber ordered the bully to give Mark her phone number, and blackmailed and threatened to humiliate him if he didn't do so. And the episode treats this like it's meant to be empowering and comedic, but when you look at it, there's nothing really empowering or funny about threatening to blackmail someone, in fact: IT'S MANIPULATIVE. And WHY didn't she just approach him and tell him herself, but chose to threaten someone into doing so? That's just messed up. And if your going to say that, "In defense, the bully hurt Mark, so Amber was just putting him in his place.", that's stupid, because as someone who doesn't approve of bullies, that doesn't mean you spend all your time just putting them through such cruelty just for your own personal gain. You're basically no better than they are. Also, the only reason she "started to like Mark", is because she just saw Mark and Eve together, LITERALLY. And then she goes all around school asking some folks if Mark and Eve are a couple. I mean seriously, WHY does Amber feel the need to pry into their business? And if she was really wanting to know, she could have just asked Mark herself. But no, she chose to do all this because she was basically jealous of Eve.
@@seankelley9928 Damn I didn't know about them, no it was some couple where the guy freeloaded at his friend's place on and off and the friend had money, in comes the girlfriend of the freeloader and she convinces him to kill the well off friend to keep his money for themselves when he is fed up and trying to get them to leave. Fun fact: some guys can actually power through getting kicked in the balls due to the adrenaline kicking in. It's why I always taught my neighbors' kids to always aim for the top of the foot because there are more bones to break there and because it takes out their foundation. And then prioritize the throat, the eyes, and the knees. The testicles are not an instant win target. So sayeth a man who has planted his foot in another man's testicles and had his own nuts kicked plenty of times in high school.
@@lokishinigami, nice. People frequently overlook the nose as an obvious target. I've had to change up my fighting style since my injury and started walking with a cane 60% of the time. The only thing better than your brilliant commentary review on a show/movie - are the legendary meme clips at the end of your videos which get me to laugh uncontrollably.
While you're correct, Mark is more than half viltrimite, given the viltrimite DNA superseded his human DNA to the point he's canonically like 98% viltrimite. Though, even hybrids with less viltrimite DNA than mark, like his younger brother can do the same thing.
You sinned the seemingly inconsistent breathing issues with Invincible. Here's how it works: he has been breathing normally for as long as he's been alive and only recently manifested his alien powers. Suddenly stopping breathing just because you can won't be easy. Also, needing to breathe but being able to hold your breath for a long time ONLY works if you inhale first and don't lose your breath for some reason. Omni-Man telling his son to take deep breaths at the high altitude has nothing to do with them being able to hold their breath indefinitely if they're trying to hold a conversation, which requires having some air in you to do comfortably.
Also, pointing out that Omni Man isn't human to say Demon Detective's point about nuance of human conversation is moot is flat out wrong because even if neither of them are human... at all... both are still communicating via the standard human conversation. They aren't speaking demon language or Omni Man's alien language... it's human conversation, you sinful sinner.
Go back and redo this whole video. But first count your own sins before pointing out what you THINK others' sins are. Tip: Your sins do not add to the show's total.
I’m not crazy about the attitude that says a character death is “sinful” because we didn’t have time to love the character. Not all character deaths have the same function. Nobody needs you to feel sad that the guardians are gone, they just need you to understand that this is a big deal: they’re the Justice league and Marc’s dad, who we know is supposed to be a good guy, just killed them seemingly without provocation. If they had drawn that out so you fully felt the emotional weight of their death, the sudden impact of having a main character be revealed to be evil and undermining what you think you know about this show would have been lost. Opening one door sometimes closes another, that’s the nature of writing.
The breathless human sin is unfounded considering the show explains he is holding his breath and as a half viltrumite can hold his breath for legitimately up to two weeks.
19:42 This raises 2 questions: 1) If she keeps getting younger, does the transformation cycle at a certain age, or will she de-age to nothingness? With leads us to question 2) Considering how often the Power Rangers Morph, de-Morph/get powered down, I suspect she'll be back in the womb within the week, so... Why the Hell is she on a superhero team where she'd be constantly transforming?! She needs to take a page from Bruce Banner and go into hiding for a few decades! Heck, she's arguably immortal! Get a few dozen college degrees! Live your life! Be a teen forever! Live the dream! What I'm getting at is: Her decision to use her monster form for superhero battles is worth, at least, 1000 sins!
“Nobody hears this, or even mentions the damage the next day” There is literally a fucking scene where his mom mentions it Edit: YOU EVEN MENTIONED IT AT 6:53
Not needing to breathe for extended periods of time (weeks or more because their body recycles oxygen reflexively while in a vacuum) is literally a feature of viltrumites and half viltrumites. Also, to non humans, cursive script probably looks like random squiggles. You assume he's taking notes in an earth language when he's not an earth species. Sin+2 for you
Amber was angry Mark wasn't spending enough time with her because he was off saving people's lives. She was also angry he didn't tell her his secret identity she figured out for herself, but never mentioned or hinted that she knew. Then got mad at him for prioritizing saving countless people's lives over getting to their dates on time. Never mind the fact that he was going out of his way to get gifts or trying to do other thoughtful things for her to make up for it as she herself said. Or that he was almost killed a few days ago, and was in the hospital for around 6 days. Amber had every right to be mad that he was late when she didn't know he was a superhero, but as soon as she figured it out, and still wanted to get mad at him for not being on time, she lost most empathy she had from me. Keeping his secret doesn't mean he doesn't trust you, that's not the reason superheroes keep their identities a secret from their loved ones most of the time, it's just a way to try to keep them a little bit safer(both you and the superhero). And probably a fear of rejection. So keeping information that could put her in danger a secret, all the while making sure to buy her nice gifts, leave notes, and doing his best to maintain their relationship and balance a life he's still new to makes him an asshole- because he wasn't ready to tell her yet -but her keeping it a secret that she knew is fine, even though the more responsible thing to do would be to just tell Mark " Hey, I know you're Invincible let's talk about how it's affecting our relationship." That's a five-month relationship at most, and he's been a hero for at most 9 months at this point(I think). She thinks he should be ready to tell her his biggest secret and that he's stringing her along just because he likes her but isn't ready to give up his biggest secret? He wanted to make it to all those dates, it's not his fault villains were attacking. He can't plan for stuff like that. He didn't even tell his best friend, whom he's known for a lot longer, and he was lying to him for just as long. He saw William less than he saw Amber, and William understood just fine. Sure, he's not romantically involved with Mark, but they're still close. I can understand her being mad at being lied to *if* she wasn't also lying through omission about knowing he's Invincible. But she knew for weeks that he was putting his life on the line to protect her and other people, and was still mad that he disappeared to save William and made a point to belittle him publicly for it. Even though she knew and saw that it was Mark getting his ass kicked by the cyborg while he was protecting everyone there. I don't think Amber can handle a relationship with a hero, but the comics handled the relationship better. In the comics, she thought he was involved with drugs, and that's why he was making bad excuses and missing dates. She realized the truth after talking with some friends about him, and they consummated their relationship. Her reasoning that he's making her feel stupid and unimportant kinda goes out the window when he literally does everything he can to keep you happy, and all you do is make crappy jokes and complain, the stupid thing is especially dumb since she knows he's a superhero and that the best superhero team on the planet was murdered a few months ago, why wouldn't he be cautious about who he tells? You called him out on his excuses for being late and he bought you an $800 gift to make up for one missed date. How are you feeling stupid or unimportant? Everything is already about you, and your clearly smart enough to figure out his secret identity. Eve showed that she wanted to start a relationship with Mark, but when she saw that he was with Amber, she backed off and even tried to help them stay together. That's someone Mark could realistically have a relationship with, without all the drama that comes with dating a regular person.
Holy shit not these shit takes again. She was mad because he continued to lie to her after making multiple promises to stop lying to her. Full stop. That's it.

Mark just flew to the country they are made in. Things like that chest for 800$ tend to be pretty cheap in their place of origin at least comparatively. 100$ strand of pearls from Chinese pearl factory? 10$ on a tropical island where they are harvested naturally. 50$ set of hand carved spoons from Peru? 3$ for the set in Lima and probably 1$ in the village where they were made. those are just two examples I know personally. NEVER BUY CURIOS unless you're in the country of origin.
I just realized that if I had read the comic before watching the show I wouldve 100% expected the "object entering the atmosphere", at the end, to be conquest. Idk if this happened to anyone but ik I would flip

It’s always a sore spot when really well written and interesting stories rely on poorly executed done to death character tropes and they definitely did that with Amber and Eve’s ex, but it was worse because unlike Eve’s obvious “bad one dimensional bf/gf who is only there to be an obstacle for the real love story and give it more meaning” boyfriend was gone in like the first episode, while Amber is somehow still with Mark. Which would be tolerable even tho we know it’s him and Eve if they had given the relationship some depth or at least shown them enjoying each other’s company, but they didn’t. They even took away the only validity to their relationship by having her already know he’s Invincible. Their relationship didn’t have to be so ugghhh because it already had a natural end- Amber clearly doesn’t want to be with a superhero which is fine so when he revealed who he was all that needed to happen was her realizing this wasn’t the life she wanted, reaffirm that she does care about him but that they just keep getting in each others way and would be better off as friends. But for some unknown reason we have to deal with a relationship they never develop heading into season 2. And as a writer I understand why things happened the way they did, at least the parts of their story that made sense. Their relationship sucked because Mark was in his flop area where he thinks he’s Invincible but is failing in every area of his life (friend, student, hero, boyfriend) which will make it more meaningful when he finally turns it around. Also because Amber’s only role is to be that bad gf and we already know he’s going to get with Eve, they didn’t want to complicate the story or confuse an audience by giving their relationship anything other than 1 pointless circular storyline. That’s why Amber has no storylines or relevance to the story- ironically Eve’s bad ex is more relevant despite that relationship ending in an episode and her never speaking to him again. He gets his own story. But if you were committing to playing this relationship out then you should’ve committed to making it one, and I’ve already explained how easy it would’ve been to end it whenever you wanted. Give us a scene of them being a cute couple, shared interest, having a moment together that didn’t either start or end with a fight. This relationship has developed entirely before our eyes yet has happened entirely off screen. Why do they like each other? When did they fall in love, because we don’t even get the first I love you seen yet everyone always tells Amber that he does. Why do they stay together? All we see them do is not spend time together and fight about it. We don’t even get one of those standard cute superhero scenes, like him saving her life as Invincible but she doesn’t know it (which could’ve actually been a moment to give merit to her knowing who he is).
"Who gets two weeks of Spring Break? And if there's a school that does, I hate you and I'll sin you anyways." Go ahead and sin me anyways, but you mean to tell me two weeks of Spring Break is _not_ the norm? My whole country has been lying to me all my life!

I was thinking the same thing. Heck, there was an episode of "Lilo & Stitch" where they made the same point. 😄
@15:38. Atom Eve cannot, in fact, use her powers on live organisms-only inorganic or dead matter. The show doesn’t really get into it, but the comics do explain that it was a mental inhibition that was installed by the same experiment that gave her powers.

It's pretty rare in my experience that comics translate well to screen. I mean, 25ish years, and they still haven't done a truly good screen adaption of Doomsday from the Superman comics. There is so much unused, and under-used content from that entire story arc.
(proof that sometimes justice was still served)
The studio probably wouldn't see anything wrong with their portrayal even if it was pointed out, remember that Amazon is the company that backed the train wreck they made out of possibly the greatest work of fantasy in the world. (Wheel of Time it's actually a better read then Tolkien's work)
The wheel of time actually has a really great and positive message about equality, understanding, celebration of differences and working towards peace and plenty with people you disagree with but most people never get to read it since the beginning of the story has most of the characters being racist and sexist, since, you know; for there to be character growth towards working together and celebrating difference, people have to be sexist, racist, douchebags to begin with.

Something like he sent the freeloader on errands every so often so they knew the codes and I don't remember the rest of it, I think it was that they started killing people in like jealous fits or something? I've forgotten really, the murdering your only friend thing is what stuck in my mind.
Also just read the highlights of Fred and Rose West, he committed suicide and she got 450 years if I am reading this right? 10 life sentences, with the average life sentence in europe being 45 years, XD guess that law hasn't been changed in a while.
Honestly they need a better system then pilling years. Something like torture until death sounds just when the proven crimes reach 4 times a maximum lifespan....
The West trial seems a special case, if he had lived they might have placed more focus on him we will never know. All we know is she was the only one tried and was convicted.

Yes! Part of being "invincible", and therefore viltrumite, is that your brain can go several days without oxygen. Nolan/Omni-Man can even travel to another solar system in a matter of two weeks with a single breath of air.
20:00 My Question is, Why are they limiting how many members there are? They are called "The Guardians of the Globe". Even if they accepted all comers there would still be nowhere near enough Heroes to Guard the Entire World. Even having them as Reserve Members to call in a "All-hands on Deck" situation.
The fact that he only gave the “I know your invincible” one sin, and other people can devote whole rants to it is staggering

15:22 Dude casually just roasted everyone on the team and I'm not even complaining.
Granted, I may be permanently injured, but I'm also a former power lifter and still strong even at 65% of my previous strength level. I can still comfortably bench about 400 pounds if I'm pushing it.

The only thing better than your brilliant commentary review on a show/movie - are the legendary meme clips at the end of your videos which get me to laugh uncontrollably.
Viltrumites, and half viltrumites like Mark, can hold their breath for incredibly long periods of time.
While you're correct, Mark is more than half viltrimite, given the viltrimite DNA superseded his human DNA to the point he's canonically like 98% viltrimite. Though, even hybrids with less viltrimite DNA than mark, like his younger brother can do the same thing.
"50% of this shower is wasted" it is definitely not
You sinned the seemingly inconsistent breathing issues with Invincible.
I like how the narrator called out BOTH Mark and Amber for their stupidity
Amber still deserved a fuck-ton more sins than she got.

So keeping information that could put her in danger a secret, all the while making sure to buy her nice gifts, leave notes, and doing his best to maintain their relationship and balance a life he's still new to makes him an asshole- because he wasn't ready to tell her yet -but her keeping it a secret that she knew is fine, even though the more responsible thing to do would be to just tell Mark " Hey, I know you're Invincible let's talk about how it's affecting our relationship."
That's a five-month relationship at most, and he's been a hero for at most 9 months at this point(I think).
I agree with all aspects of this comment! Thanks so much for taking the time to write it out.

28:47 this extra is starting directly at the camera 😂!!!
I love how nobody comes to the conclusion fucking EVE IS ATOM EVE
she put atom in front of her name, and that made her inrecognisable
Amber was 99% of what was wrong in Season 1.
