I remember reading somewhere that the reason Hulk and Thanos cried out when they got the stones was because characters like that rarely get hurt to that degree. Meanwhile Tony simply staggered his breathing because for him, because of his humanity, pain is an old friend

I love this story from Tom Holland. When Evans said “Avengers Assemble” they were all supposed to yell and charge, but he couldn’t hear it from where he was standing. He timed it wrong and ran as fast as he could, not realizing that he was the only one. They had to change it to charging at Thor’s battlecry because Tom kept messing it up.
It’s way better this way. A battle cry is for battling, an assembly call is for assembling.
I mean, the man whispered to a crowd of thousands, the battle cry is much better of a signal anyway lol
Well, this is a byproduct of him not being allowed to read the full script. He infamously admitted that the reason he looked so lost and confused in his scenes is because he literally had no pretext to what was happening in them; just what he was supposed to be doing.

When Tony asked about Natasha, “Did she have family?”, it reminded me of when Cap asked the same question to Tony about Agent Colson in the first Avengers movie, after he sacrificed himself.
Edit: I caught the first Avengers movie on FX last night and the question Steve actually asks Tony was, “Was he married?” but it was to the same effect. Also, thank you for the 13 likes.
It's also a character moment, showing how Tony grew... The one from Avengers would've probs not cared and focused on the mission, but this one asked this first, because he knows how it feels to lose family.
They actually brought Colson and the chellist back together for a moment afterwards too.

Fun fact: at 35:26 Happ told Tony’s daughter that her dad liked cheeseburgers which is a direct reference to the very first Iron Man movie after Tony was free from his captors and was being driven away by Happ the first thing that Tony asked for was a “American Cheeseburger”.

Plus just to add. Theres a misconception that RDJ tasted a horrible burger to get him off drugs. When got him off them is that it was his favorite burger but he couldnt taste it anymore due to his condition from the drug abuse. He just wanted to experience a simple familiar joy of his life but the drugs had taken that away.
I'm late to the game. But Thor's arc in this movie hit me really close to home. After getting out of the military I dived into alcoholism, gained weight, and avoided admitting to PTSD at all costs. This movie came out around 6 months after I started therapy and getting sober. The message "I'm still worthy" absolutely broke me but surprisingly helped me a lot in my journey.

The Infinity War/Endgame duo is truly the Star Wars of our time as a cultural event. I'm so glad I was alive to experience them in theaters.
Endgame, Rise of Skywaker, and Game of Thrones finale were all within three weeks of each other. End of a pop culture era.

I love how the Win Counter just exploded at all the right moments. I would look at the counter before and after and think, "Yeah, 150 points is about right for that." But then at the end to fluff it up to 3000.... just a pure stroke of genius, and absolutely appropriate.

I think it's a nice detail that Natasha's Soul is in the Soul Stone, so when Tony is self-sacrificing himself, Natasha's there with him in the form of the Soul Stone in his Nano-Gauntlet.

Now that I think about it, even though I was introduced to the Infinity Stones before the Elder Scrolls series, the Soul Stone reminds me of the soul gems from the Elder Scrolls series although, there are only a few slight differences between them both of them being that the Soul Stone is a one-trick pony that may not exist after you, say, use the Stones to destroy the Stones, like 2018 Thanos did whereas there are possibly millions of soul gems spread across each of the Elder Scrolls games possibly due to the games' never-ending respawning of items, but my point still stands and with the Soul Stone, you'd have to sacrifice someone else's soul to get it regardless if the person is willing to sacrifice themselves or not whereas you can get a soul gem and find them just about anywhere in the games and you don't even have to sacrifice someone to power the gems you can just forcefully blast the soul out of your enemy's body with a magic spell, which automatically transfers that soul to the gem.

One of my favorite moments that I don't think I see people talk about is just after Cap saying assemble.
Cap only whispers it so of course no one heard him say assemble unless you were near him.
No one really moved until after Thor likely heard him say assemble and then screamed at the top of his lungs.
Leave it to the Warrior of the group, Thor, to lead everyone into the fight with his god damn battle cry.
Not to mention Black Panther following up with his own battle cry right after, he is another warrior too.
What a perfect duo to focus on to start a battle, and that was completely thought out and intentional.
Another commenter said that they were supposed to start on "assemble", but Tom Holland kept screwing it up so they had to change it
An extra win from me: The moment before the portals open. Cap standing alone on the battle field on the left side of the screen while Thanos's army standing on the right side of the screen. The sky was dark on Thanos's side. But, on Cap's side the sun still shine through. Signifying that even on the face of absolute despair, Cap's still holding on the light of hope until the end.
I never actually noticed that until you said it! That is such an amazing visual detail!
I personally like that shot because it just feels right. If there's any Avenger willing to stand alone against legions, it's Captain America
tony's final words stating "I....Am......Ironman" never fails to make me cry, and the tribute to one of my favourite superheroes with the final win counter of 3,000 is appropriate
If memory serves, that being his final quip was thought of after filming had wrapped. They had shot a different ending and RDJ had said goodbye to the character, but when someone thought that he should say “I am Ironman.” the production crew felt it was too perfect to not use it. RDJ was hesitant to pick this character back up, but he eventually agreed. RDJ had to regrown the beard and get back into character for this last reshoot, but it was worth it. Such a perfect line at the perfect moment. Truly cinematic genius at work.

A guy at work who had seen it at midnight proceeded to spoil his death knowing that a few of us were going to watch it that night we had our suspicions but he basically ruined the surprise for us

one more little detail that I like at 27:08 is how only Tony (and possibly Rhodey) react to Cap summoning Mjolnir. Thor just watched him do it so isn't surprised, and everyone else in the shot (except Bruce) wasn't present in Age of Ultron when they all tried to lift it at the party. Tony also being part of the "elevator isn't worthy" conversation at the end of AoU and only just coming to after being knocked out by the hammer is genuinely shocked to see Cap wielding it is a nice touch and reflects the audience's excitement from a few moments before.
Before Wandavision even came out I just knew…when she muttered “they both do” you can see it in her eyes and her face. She isn’t over it and she isn’t moving on. I feel marvel has always had a subtle way of letting you know what’s gonna happen next and I love that🖤
Endgame was not only one of the best theater experiences I’ve ever had but also one of the greatest superhero movies of all time and a perfect end to the MCU’s Infinity Saga

Came here to say a very similar thing. I didn't notice how high the counter got until just before it slowed down. For all the parts of the video I disagreed with or rolled my eyes at, that moment brought me right back to seeing this in theaters. Same lump forming in my throat that I had on walking out after the credits had finished.
when sam uttered the words “on your left” and portals started appearing with chadwick coming out just overwhelmed me with emotions that I was crying all throughout the final battle and just never gave me enough tears for tony’s death
relates! mine started from "on your left" by the time Tony sacrificed honestly I didnt have any tears left!
The ending win counter becoming 3000 makes so much sense it brought me to tears thinking about how fortunate I am to have witnessed the growth of this franchise
I am a 34 year old man, went to see this movie by myself, and basically ugly cried. At least I was not alone as you could hear others in there trying to fight back their sobbing as well.

But I instantly started tearing up as soon as Cap pulled Mjolnir to him.

Narrators reaction to the last battle scene mirrored my wife and mine both in the theater. Not to mention everyone else watching with us. I think millions of people collectively broke emotionally during this movie
@@lea-anne9133 Apparently I'm made of stone. This movie was hella emotional, but I didn't cry because I saw both deaths coming. I cried immensely for 12 Years a Slave though.
Its hard to imagine there being a movie like Endgame ever again. The fact that they pulled off a satisfying conclusion to a story arc spanning 10 years of cinema that at its worse was passable is a miracle. No other movie franchise has the quality consistency or good will from the fans to even get close. Even if Marvel did another movie on that scale again I don't think it would hit nearly as hard.
I agree 100% but I’m more excited about that fact really. The feelings I felt watching it I want to experience again. I hope they exceed this, I want them to. In this franchise I can’t wait for what comes next, and for other stand alone movies or franchises I want to see where it all leads!

No way home was kinda like it. Big emphasis on the kinda. It was not a 20 year buildup from Spider-Man 1 but it still felt as a conclusion.

I have been diagnosed with Depression and struggle with it every day; and when I saw the Thor summoning Mjolnir scene I got teary eyed. Plus you saying everyone with depression is worthy made me cry. I know this is a reupload of the two part episodes but thank you for saying the words each of us need to hear.
On a side note I have re-watched the two parts several times before so every time you saw it I get teary eyed again.

When I saw this I just didn't know where these movies could go from here. I suppose that's been borne out. It's a shame that Covid happened and screwed the momentum of Marvel. I kind of think they could have pulled off the soft reboot of a new chapter if not for all the filming and scheduling hijinx that rearranged the film and show orders and messed up a lot of continuity. But then again, Disney+'s insistence on streaming shows probably would have screwed things up either way. When all is said and done, Marvel will always have 11 years of movie storytelling and character development culminate in a pair of nearly historically penultimate finale films that are for the ages.
If I had a time machine I would just go back to watch Endgame in different theaters with different crowds. I want to experience that collective joy forever.

The moment my theater lost it was when mjolnir flew to Cap's hand. The cheering was amazing. I don't like going to the movies but that moment alone made it worth it for endgame

Best part of the movie for me is when Cap was defeated and staring down Thanos’s army and strapped his shield tighter cause he wasn’t giving up.
Because he can do this all day.
If you pause it you see his arm is cut and the strap closes the wound.

This movie made me really appreciate Nebula as a character, I mean I was already more invested in her after her arc in guardians 2 but just seeing her be a bit happier and around more good people was heartwarming. I loved the implied friendship between her and Rhody (who is already a top 5 avenger for me) and wish we got to see a little more of it.
I think the scene where everyone comes together with the portals is just so important. It’s a brilliant representation of how much the mcu has built. It’s so many movies, so many characters, so many stories all put together. All working together. It’s clear in all the movies what always makes them stronger is teamwork. And this is the whole mcu coming together, working as a team. It’s just so important and so wonderful. Brilliant cinematography. So amazing.
I initially didn't notice Thor hanging his head when Tony rejected his plea to try out the gauntlet at 21:18, but now that you pointed it out, I can empathize with how crushing that emotion is
Rejection, or the unending depression and thought that it is all your fault so no matter how dangerous or what may happen to you you're willing to throw yourself in the fire (stupidly, may I add) and then having your intended "sacrifice" be shot down because even if you don't see it the people that love you don't want to see you throw everything away for nothing?
Hawkeye also hangs his head. I'm not sure what to make of that.
@@E3ECO I'm thinking, either he knows why Thor wants to do it, and why Tony says no, and is showing empathy for Thor ... or, he internally realises that what Tony is saying rings true for him too, since he hasn't gotten over the loss of his family at the hands of the guy that Thor wants to kill. But that's mu guess.

The moment Cap lifts Mjölnir validates Dr. Erskine’s belief that it takes a kind heart, and not just a willingness to fight, to create the ultimate warrior. Erskine would be proud of Steve. I cried the most when Peter and Ned reunited. That handshake and hug get me every time.
When Cap lift Mjölnir you can hear a slight ride of the valkyiers

25:59 This is honestly such a scary scene. It really just finally shows Thanos's true colours and intentions. He even goes after saying that he decides to replace his goal of wiping half of the universe, to destroy it all and creating a new one.

I got to see this movie with my mother before she passed away. I'm so glad I did.
It was very, very satisfying when Frigga says she was raised by witches and issues like time travel and past and future selfs is not an issue for her. Totally accepted Thor at his worse, and still treated him all the same, and reminded him to take care of himself.
I declare Rene Russo: Always a win. She had little screen time across three movies but all her scenes were awesome. Especially in Endgame.
When people talk about Nebula at the start of this film, it's always about the flick football. But I think what happens next tell us more about who she has become.
When she find Tony passed out on the floor too weak to even finish putting on more than one arm into his jacket. She picks him up, finishes putting on the jacket and sets him down somewhere comfortable to sleep (die).
She is no longer the Killer from G1, she is now able to express compassion for others. Great moment that comes back again later when she sits and holds Rockets hand in shared grief.
while Tony was indeed weak, I think he was just using the jacket as a blanket.

Wow. The very end with all those wins, I kept thinking "woah, that's going pretty fast, when's it going to stop?" Then when it slowed down when it got close, I started to think "ooh, I hope it's gonna be on an even number." Then I just... "oh."
You somehow made that almost as good as the video itself, dude.
Something you didn't mention that I appreciate a lot, especially after Multiverse of Madness, is when Wanda landed in front of Thanos and the music resets then plays a menacing/hard couple of beats and continues on.... Its playing boss music for Thanos.
I love how you gave the movie 3000 wins in honor of Tony's Stark's/RDJ's phrase of endearment.

The fact that the last line that Tony Stark ever says was technically an afterthought in the director's mind, something that happened during the reshoot, almost in post-production, absolutely blows my mind. It's the perfect capstone on his journey, his legacy of being Tony Stark, going from that genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist mindset to truly embracing who he is, the power that he not only has in his hands at that moment, but the power he's had from the very start, not just being a tech genius and one of the first modern day superheroes, but truly and literally being the start of this entire expanded universe. That line sums up all of Iron Man's massive story arc, and it wasn't even added until THE LAST MINUTE! AN AFTERTHOUGHT
yea it kills me that they had so much right already but almost missed that opportunity. so glad it happened. perfection.
I remember seeing that scene in the theater; Thanos says, "I am Inevitable..." and gets his snap off, and it doesn't work, and you realize, as he does, "Tony built the gauntlet he's using." and it cuts to Tony, with the nanobots jury-rigging his glove into a makeshift infinity gauntlet, and he begins "And I... am..." and you know the line is coming, and it is glorious.
Even crazier is that during most of production the line was “Fuck off.” It would have basically ruined the movie

AS a full grown man in my early thirties I can honestly say no film has made me bawl as much as this one did and I don't think there will ever be a film that does that to me again.
What does being a man have to do with it? Crying is a human thing.
As someone with severe PTSD, Thor was my favorite character throughout EndGame. And I didn’t even know why until I watched this review. I didn’t realize I was relating to him hard. And out of everyone I’ve watched the movie with, I noticed that I felt like everyone was liking him for the wrong reasons but I couldn’t put my finger in what those reasons were. People were like “haha he’s fat.” Or “haha he’s an alcoholic gamer now” or “haha look how winey he is.” But that always annoyed me so much. Sure it was cute but I saw myself in him. And we can laugh at ourselves especially knowing when we’re at our lowest we feel like it’s over but our future selves watch that same scene and know THEY ARE SO CLOSE. They don’t even know. And so we can laugh at ourselves, lovingly, because of the silly things we did to console ourselves reminding ourselves of how childlike we were. And how we know now that it’s all going to be ok. Idk I just LOVED his character arc and it felt so real.
The alcohol drenched escapism, the true loneliness that most people will never know (not just the "I just got dumped" type of loneliness but the "my whole fucking family is literally dead" type of loneliness), the self isolation, the denial about just how depressed you are, even being overweight were all relatable...
It made me sad already to begin with....it destroys me now as someone who buried both of my parents and specifically my mom within 18 months of this movie coming out. I literally cannot watch this movie without tearing up any time that poor sad man is on the screen even as cheap comedic relief or as the butt of a joke.....and I seriously ugly-cry every time I watch it now when he gets to talk to his mom again. It is crazy to me that a borderline comedic relief literal god character in a superhero movie captures depression better than movies that are actually about depression. The weight gain, the alcoholism, the loss of concern with grooming yourself to (hair growing out, beard getting wild) pretending you're okay when you're really not and even downplaying how unhappy you are when around friends and acquaintances....are all things I've experienced when dealing with depression (specifically in my case from grief). One of the most, if not THE most realistic and relatable depictions of depression and grief that I've ever seen in any film period regardless of genre.
What makes him an even sadder character is when you realize no one he's lost could even be brought back by the snap, atleast not the people it hurt him the most to lose. Not Odin, not his mother, not Loki, not his people that Thanos slaughtered at the beginning of Infinity War. I mean sure, some friendly acquaintances from the hero world, that's cool and all. But his mother, father, and brother are still all gone. He doesn't get an easy way out of his depression or a quick fix to his loneliness.

ive been seeing a lot of people saying he was basically comic relief and now looking back, sure I see it, but to me when I watched it a few hours ago for the first time, all I saw was a guy trying not to show how broken he was, and getting made fun of for it
It really bothers me how so many people write off thor as just fat comedic relief and say it was a mistake. People say he's a warrior and should direct his energies into traingin, but for what? He's lost everything and for five years there was no undoing it, so really why would he?
I myself can be described as fat, not too disimilar in shape to thor here actually. I've been up and down in depression, so personal grooming and maintaining beards sometimes goes out the window. And there are times where i don't feel worthy of the things I have. I see myself in thor here quite a bit. So either I'm projecting onto patterns that aren't there, or people are missing the point.
It bothers me that people ignore his ptsd and depression because "haha fat funny", even though his humour is clearly him trying to cope in vain. And often its from people who aren't similar to him

Wouldn't say it's only fanservice. It wrapped up every character arc of the OG Avengers and was the payoff of 22 movies
That scene where they all assemble really gives me chills. Specifically the "assemble" word from Cap, just sends chills down my spine. Same with the "Iron Man" line. That's some of the most any movie can make me feel, and the fact that it's a superhero movie that does it makes it so powerful.
It's an epic line, but I can't help but chuckle at the fact that right after he says "assemble", everyone does the exact opposite, i.e. charge headlong at the enemy.

I always saw the line "I am Iron Man" as a way of Robert Downy Jr. to say goodbye to the character that both kickstarted the MCU and even saved his character, maybe even his life. It was hard to see him leave after a decade of childhood amazingness, and to this day I'm still teary eyed when seeing any movie with him in it
True, as probably in the first Iron Man movie, Tony told the truth about his identity due to his ego.
They did do a reshoot to use that line. I believe it was Downey's idea but would have to reread their Marvel history book to be sure. But it added one extra day of filming to do it the way it was in the movie.
It was writer Jeff Ford who decided to go full circle with 'I am Iron Man.' They were reshooting it, trying all sorts of different lines. During the reshoots, Ford came up with that, and they shot it the next day. So the whole team was trying to figure out the perfect line and it took a lot of effort.

That moment when Mjolnir starts moving, and the first thought is that its going to fly to Thor... but you can tell something is different. Then it flies past Thor and lands in Captain America's hand and its simultaneously expected and unexpected at the same time. The absolute hype of that moment was astounding! Thor's reaction was pretty much everyone's reaction tbh. XD
When Thor is the first one to let out the battle cry after Cap says “…Assemble” give me chills every single time, for all the reasons stated about Thor’s journey through depression and lack of self worth. It’s this perfect punctuation mark for the single one of the entire Avengers team whose identity is inseparable from his status as a Warrior, and it took him every last second before that moment to fully regain his sense of self.

My God. This is one of the most amazing films ever made. People say that about their favorite films to show how much they love it, but... THIS. This is true cinema. This is what years of character development, plot development, and emotional development gets you. We grew up with these characters (my personal favorite Captain America) and saw them grow as a person and grow closer together. And then we have to lose some our of beloved characters knowing their journey is at its end. It's heartbreaking, but it's the perfect way to end a masterclass series of phases.
I think that one of the reasons I love this Channel so much is that along with just being incredibly entertaining, you also manage to make me not feel terrible for enjoint some of the more mainstream stuff. So often, I feel like the internet gets sept away in critique and it's just nice to have someone else just go, "oh yeah that was cool" to something that I really liked, is really nice. So, thank you so much
i just noticed something about tony and nebula together in the benetar. One is built of parts to correct her failures, while the other builds a suit of armor, constantly upgrading based off his failures. Basically two sides of the same coin working together to survive.

I noticed, the sound of Tony forging the mask was the true perfect bookend, because unlike the other heroes, who's mantles/hero identities were bestowed upon (thor was born the god of thunder, cap was given the serum and the name, Nat got her codename from the red room and Clint from shield, etc), Tony literally made it with his own hands, he created iron Man from scratch, no one gave him that idea, he could've created a billion different things to escape that cave, and he chose the mantle, the MCU may have started with the movie iron Man, but it truly started the moment Anthony Edward Stark forged that mask on that anvil, so it's only fitting that their portion of the franchise ends with the same sound, rest in peace, Tony, we're looking forward to see the brand new generation of heroes that your sacrifice will inspire ♥️

41:46 - I've gone through depression since I was in my Teens, it sucks not feeling comfortable in your own skin, but what is FAR worse is when you have all your friends joking around and playfully insulting each other and then they skip over you. Like you're too broken to take a joke, and it makes you feel even worse. So I'm glad they kept in the joking, and managed to do it without overdoing it.

I especially like the end of the game where Tony says “You win. Fair game”. Something she’s never been able to experience: fairness. She was so used to being picked apart, criticized and pushed to perfection that she didn’t know what it was like to be good enough as she was. And Tony gave her that.
I kinda wish we got a tiny bit more of them together but what’s there is so good, I really like that moment.
It’s generally interesting seeing her evolve over the movies, how much more regular and relaxed she gets over time. I can’t wait to see how far she’s come ing GotG3.

When I first saw Endgame and the “On your left” scene happened, I burst into tears as the portals opened. I was just so overwhelmed with emotions, lots of them conflicting, that my body just short-circuited and I started sobbing. My brother looked at me like I was insane 😂😂

20:15 or so, after Hawkeye when you realize that her other family was dusted (probably not just Yelena) it makes Nat's need to bring them all back so much stronger, even to the point of sacrificing herself.
All the added context we've gained has honestly reinforced what I felt about the scene when it first happened, because a lot of people had some things to say about killing off Widow and Hollywood definitely has some history with that kind of thing. But I don't see it here.
Natasha was willing to sacrifice herself because she couldn't face failure, to go on without all that is lost or to lose more to get there. It's the end of the hero's journey.
Clint wanted to die because he couldn't face victory. To go back to his family after what he became without them. His journey wasn't over, he needed to redeem himself for what he did as Ronin.
The MCU has a pretty simple moral rule: heroes win when they become better people, when they make the right choices and overcome their failings. Infinity War subverted that, but it came back in Endgame more profound than ever.
Giving Endgame 3000 wins was a stroke of genius, my friend.

I'm 70 years old and was there back-in-the-day when comicbooks were 12 cents. I've always been a big fan of Marvel. I went to the opening day midnight showing of Tobey Maguire's Spiderman (I loved all three of those movies) and before that went to a couple of "Wizard, Chicago Comic Cons". I'm telling you all of this so you know that I am not just a casual fan. Your "Everything GREAT About Avengers: Endgame was perfect. You touched on every reason why the Marvel Universe is so successful. When I saw the first Ironman movie I thought to myself 'This is the best superhero movie ever". The casting, story line, character development and the fact that it was building the base for all of the movies that followed helped to make it so good. I am still amazed that all of the different directors and writers kept the cohesive story line throughout phase 1, 2 and 3. Thanks for posting this. I'm going to check out a few more of your "Everything Great About(s)". Keep up the "Great" work.

That "Avengers...assemble" line had my theater audience roaring in applause. It's up there with seeing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II on premiere night as one of the greatest cinematic experiences of my life.
The end of Infinity War was also pretty crazy. The entire theater in just a sort of stunned silence and then the hushed trudge out to the parking lot with everyone spending so much brain power processing the ending that they can't even chat to each other one the way out.

I loved the subtle moment when Hulk tries to undo the snap. He struggles at first, unable to lift his arm. It was because he was trying to also bring Natasha back, but since it couldn’t be done, he wasn’t able to tap into the stones's powers. Only when he gave up on trying to bring her back, he was able to lift his arm and undo the snap.
It's been 3 years since Endgame and I still tear up every single team that the Portals OST plays and the scene starts

after seeing guardians 3 it makes me appreciate that nebula and rocket were the only ones not "blipped' during the infinity saga even more.
One thing that always gets me is Far From Home. It hits so much harder because Peter did not get his time with Tony. Tony barely had any time with basically his son. For them it literally went Peter’s death, reunion hug, Tony’s death. It’s really sad to think about and makes Peter going through that movie so much harder, especially when both of their deaths made my nose bleed from how hard I cried. Spidey has always been my favorite so seeing him beg and plead to the one man he’s ever seen as a father hit me. Then to immediately turn around and see him beg and plead for that same father figure not to leave him, to see him desperately not want to be left alone, hits me even harder. The relationship between these two characters is something I could talk about for days, i just really enjoy it
Some great subtlety in this movie that I love is how you see snapped Avengers living on through those that remained.
1. Nick Fury living on in Natasha, who took over the lead position.
2. Sam Wilson living through Steve, who starts a support group.
3. (My favorite) Peter living through Tony who not only quotes him to Scott Lang when he says “Let me just stop you right there” (a call back to when Peter met Tony in Civil War) but also realizes the pop culture movie that Lang is getting his time travel references from and calls him on it.
It shows how those characters imprinted on them and how they tried to keep them alive in their grief.
Also, I love the call back to Winter Soldier at the end. The song play while Steve and Peggy dance is the song that Nick Fury plays in Steve’s apartment when he sneaks in while hiding from Hydra.

I remember watching this in theaters with my mom and loosing my mind, it was so good, and at the avengers assemble moment the entire room just screaming and cheering and I've never lived through something like that again. It was a unique thing they achieved. Still love this one so much.
Even just this recap makes me cry and gives me chills. They built something great here. They may never reach this level again, but that's okay. We got this.

My favorite moment was Tony and Peter’s battlefield reunion. Those two have such great chemistry together.
I love how this film actually managed to be subversive while remaining logical.
Considering the damage the Stones caused in past movies, it makes sense Thanos would be hurt by the snape. It makes sense that he'd destroy the stones after his job was done.
Still, it was surprising for me in theaters when the year-long question of "how will they beat Thanos?" is answered by side-stepping the issue entirely. His defeat added nothing to the Avengers winning, and then later on, they manage to trick me again, because they do need to fight him again, but a past version.
On that note, I appreciate the way the time travel is handled here (although it kinda falls apart by the end): they're not gonna fix the past, they're gonna fix the present but need tools in the past to do it. Pretty fresh take on a very worn-out plot.
Also: Steve, Tony, and Bruce all had a pay-off in Avengers internally, and a second pay-off in Endgame
Steve's called a labrat, that everything special about him came out of a bottle; In the Manhattan battle, he's not just fighting, he's leading both the Avengers and the coordinated efforts of the national guard and the police, showing that beyond peak human physique and martial skill, he's an able tactician and leader. In Endgame, he (as the first and only mortal) proves worthy of Mjolnir, a feat only ever achieved by Thor.
Tony has his heroism questioned by Steve, and makes canny observations to tear down the situations in which he'd have to make the sacrifice play. In Avengers, he flies into the wormhole, because it's the only way to save Manhattan from the nuke and the invading Chitauri. In Endgame, he is ultimately the one to end the conflict, but does so by giving his life.
Bruce has the purpose of the Hulk questioned. He sees it as a curse while Tony considers it a blessing that saved his life from the gamma radiation. Later in the film, the Hulk saves Tony's life after the wormhole debacle. Then in Endgame you have the resurrecting snap, which he thinks he's made for.
Great consistency.
Ok, final note: this is a (by the time of this comment) 13-year running franchise, which has expanded into live-action tv, includes some of the highest grossing films of all time, launched footnote actors into AAA status (deserved, the performances are great) and arguably has a notable part of an entire generation invested.
These are comic book movies (which at the time were mostly considered kitschy) and it all started with a movie that, on paper, would've ended up as decent and harmless, but instead showed that a superhero movie can be a generally good movie. And somehow, on the good faith of this one movie (the rest of phase 1, while not at all bad, kinda stands in the shadow of Iron Man), this absolute juggernaut of a franchise was launched. It'd be surreal to hear this story back in 2007, and it's surreal to reflect on it now.
The MCU has delivered a near-constant stream of movies, with quality ranging from meh to brilliant, and some off-the-wall ideas (mixing superhero plots with spy thrillers, historical fiction, space operas, fantasy...; they mixed in everything but the kitchen sink) and all this success...kinda feels like it came out of nothing.
This franchise is nuts in the best way possible.
Great comment, Tony put his life on the line in each Avengers movies. If he had miscalculated he could’ve maybe saved the earth but still blown up him and Thor when they took out the flying city in AoU.
Just a quick reminder, MCU Steve isn't peak human, he's superhuman.
My two cents on Thor as a young adult living with depression: your commentary and his lines and acting moved me to tears. Depression isn't all or nothing, some people experience it to greater or lesser degrees. Mine isn't that significant, medically, but it has been a huge part of my personal journey thus far. Just because it comes to light and happens quickly (if 5 years of post-snap with whatever stress and trauma he dealt with during IW added as well can be called quickly) doesn't mean it is disrespectful. It's the end of his character arc, the first time he shows it clearly and knows it, taking responsibility for who he is and moving forward regardless of that weight. I would change nothing.

2 things that nobody seems to bring up: when the Avengers were charging into the final battle, M'baku actually manages to keep up with a bunch of super-powered humans and gods while running into battle. And the second, when Peter is saying his goodbyes to Tony oh, he actually calls him Tony for the first time rather than Mr. Stark.

The word carries the connotation of being pretty condescending if you say it to strangers. On top of that it's a rather old world that fits in perfectly with the time that Red Skull comes from.
It's kinda like an elderly person calling you "dear" or "sweetie" while lecturing you.
Also "-chen" is a way to "cutiefy" words. Like if you say "Hündchen" instead of "Hund" you're most likely referring to not just a dog, but a small or cute one. If you do this while referring to people, you're most likely talking down to them.
I remember really enjoying seeing the Ancient One confused that Strange GAVE the Time Stone to Thanos. she was always so sure about everything and seeing her surprised let you know stuff was going to get wacky in a big way!

My personal favorite scene will always be Thor's you are worthy scene, it is so grounded to reality that you forget that you are watching a literal superhero film, it always amazes me how these characters which are so out of this world can also be so grounded at the same time. That was my first time playing with a full band in over two years because of obvious reasons, and that triumphant soundtrack was the perfect dramatic piece to re-enter to. This movie already had a special place in my heart, but the Avengers theme is linked to a core memory of mine now, which just makes it all the more meaningful.

This analogy will probably seem gratuitous but ima go for it anyway. One thing I love about endgame is that, while we never would have foreseen the pandemic back in April 2019, the world did kinda blip during the whole quarantine thing. Everyone was in a state of limbo and we do get our moments of triumph when we return back to our worlds. I dunno if this makes sense but I'm sure there's something in there. It just makes the film more relatable and considering so many people's mental health took a dive because of the pandemic, watching this film is also a nice reminder that we're all still worthy
This movie is perfection for me. The buildup and hype surrounding this movie was sky high and the movie somehow exceeded my expectations. The character moments and interactions are the best of the MCU, I love the time travel shenanigans, and the final act is one of the best things I have ever seen. It brings me joy to rewatch this again and again. I have not seen it since last year, but I still remember the best moments of the movie. Captain America is awesome in this one. I know some are not fans of Bro Thor and Professor Hulk, but I love them. Simply put, this movie is everything I wanted from Marvel and more!

Started reading Marvel in 1975. These films are a gift. I never thought they’d be made like this.

Where do you go from saving half the universe? I guess saving the Multiverse, and the MCU has had some problems with that story.
I liked how Thanos' ship didn't even fit in any screen except when it travelled through quantum space.

Damn we were so lucky to be alive when the MCU started, we started the journey young and not sure what would happen, and we ended it as old hating that this story is over and feeling for every character, dead or alive in the end.
So true. I remember quite well going to the movie theater to see the first Iron Man, way back when it came out. Never would've imagined it would lead to this...damn, what a great journey.

No matter how much time has passed since it was released this is the first Marvel Movie that I watched with my cousins at a drive-in theater and cried with them. No matter what this always gets me.
Endgame is 1 of 2 movies that makes me choke up / nearly cry every time I watch it. Truly special.
