i feel that the groot repeatedly bringing the wrong thing instead of the fin montage perfectly sets up the button misunderstanding that happens later on
And it also gives an emotional bonus to IW, that line, and her growth with Gamora make the Nebula torture scene all the more painful, because she became sympathetic.
8:58 Just my Opinion, but I always felt like she chose this moment to finaly speak up against Ego and warn the Guardians is because in this moment, she felt, for the first time, what a parent loosing a child SHOULD feel. She witnessed Egos Emotions for so many years and through so many times that he killed offsprings and he probably NEVER felt as much as 0,0001% of the grief that Drax is feeling here. Imo that's why she decided to help them
8:48 is such an underrated line by Drax. To me he's clearly referring to himself. He knows he's ugly, and he knows his wife loved him, so he knows that she loved him for who he is.
Doesn't he say that it's hard to be beautiful for that reason? I always took that line as referring to himself, in combination with saying how he is extraordinarily humble
I think the way Yondu says “because you’re _me_ “ gets me choked up every time because the whole monologue his tone has been somewhat condescending, sarcastic, and harsh, but the way his voice immediately softens when he says ‘me’ pulls at my heart- he isn’t attacking rocket, but they both know the only way to get closer to each other is to be brash and cold to show you’re not gonna be pushed around by the other (as rocket pushes away venerability at any cost) followed by some way of saying “I’m not going to hurt you, I know you’re already in pain.”
Chris Pratt's acting in Yondu's death scene is incredible. The desperation, sadness, and love he emotes when he yells "Nooo!" is fucking gut-wrenching..
Alex Love was his performance bad? No, but it's definitely not incredible. He didn't even shed a tear. It would've been really emotional if he actually cried.
"I know who you are boy, because you're me!" "Until everything is me." This shows the different perspectives of Yondu and Ego right there. Yondu sees himself in others, while Ego wants to force everything to be like him. It's someone who lives for and within the universe versus one who just wants to control it, a feeling person versus a utilitarian who just uses people. Quite powerful, and only just noticed it.
Piggybacking on your remark, but it's worth noting that Yondu is dissatisfied by the reflection he sees of himself in others, recognizing the flaws he shares with them and clearly understanding those flaws have harmed both himself and those he is/was close to. Polar opposite to Ego, naturally, who's entirely incapable of such reflection.
8:54 I think there was another reason Mantis wanted to tell Drax about Ego. She has seen Ego killing his children for a very long time, but when she feels the overwhelming sadness in Drax when he talks about his deceased daughter, Mantis understands how Ego is supposed to feel when losing a child and thus how evil he must be for not feeling anything at all.
Yep. She broke down crying at just how powerful Drax's emotions about his daughter were, even if he never showed them outwardly. And then realizing that Ego had murdered every one of his own children, with no remorse.
you know I've never thought about it like that. I always just thought she felt bad he opened up to her and they were all going to die so she tried to warn him
Rly good observation! Since she doesnt rly understand "normal" feels because she doesnt interact with anyone except Ego, she only felt the horrific truth about what Ego does to his children when she felt Drax's love for his own lost daughter. :')
I remember being pissed when Peter Quill screwed the Thanos attack up by slamming his face after finding out about Gamora's death, but then I remembered the time when he tried to shoot Ego right after learning of his mothers murder
It shows he is very emotional when it comes to loved ones, saying that he truly loves them. I'm sure Tony would've done the same if Thanos killed Pepper. It was just Peter's unlucky day.
Actually it wasn't his fault, kinda frustrating when the whole fandom ganged up 9n him while it was actually nebula if it wasn't for her to wait for some intures to tell what actually happened, we wouldn't have needed endgame.
I’m pretty sure Thor's going to bulk up again. Sure, he got beat down by Thanos a second time after finding out that he was still worthy, but because he found it that he’s still worthy of holding Mjölnir, he’s not going to let himself go any longer.
Cinema sins doesn't even sin the movies anymore most of the time he just sins stuff because he doesn't know what's going on or he doesn't understand the scene.
Yes, EsoJ H, the moment the Guardians were introduced in Infinity War....I mean, Dr Strange and Iron Man were cool but as soon as i heard the Spinners i sat up and thought; YES!!! The guardians are coming!
The reason why Baby Groot doesn't have any of the original Groot's memories is because they are not the same being, Baby Groot is the "spawn" of Groot.
So here's a question....we saw Baby Groot reincarnated from the twig that remained of the first Groot after he sacrificed himself to save his friends. Do you think that is how Groot returns in Infinity War 2? Since his arm became the handle for Thor's new hammer?
@@CeltycSparrow Actually I believe it was confirmed by the creators that Baby Groot was born from the little seedling Groot plucked from his face during the suiting up montage in GOTG 1.
8:58 I've also heard that Mantis broke down because of the immense love and loss that Drax felt for his deceased daughter compared to the callus way that Ego had treated all his "failure" children.
I would add an extra win for when Peter says "what's so wrong with that?" Mainly because it highlights exactly what it is that makes heroes of the MCU so brilliant. It's not the abilities or suits or magic powers or whatever - it's being decent people who stand up and do what's right when other people can't. Peter is a good person and does what he can to save people, flawed as he is, and doesn't need powers to do so. Because he's just like everybody else, and that's awesome.
@@Ikajo Yeah that was a HUGE amount of stupid, though it wasn't all that surprising, at least to me. Fans seem to take out a lot of their anger and woes about a movie/TV show/game on the actors that play the characters, as if those actors have any control over the script. I'm looking at you, those who sent death threats to the woman who played Rose Tico from Last Jedi.
“Just a little bit of love reminds you how big and empty the hole inside of you is” hits a lot harder when you watch Guardians 3. Rocket is distant because the last time he had a semblance of a family, they were killed unjustly, and made him think that if he opens his heart again, the same thing would happen again.
i know this may seem insensitive, and please know i'm trying not to appear so, but i doubt this would be a good place to speak of such things sympathy can be found anywhere, and yes sometimes on the internet, but please understand that doesn't make this the best place to simply just... say that people may see it as someone attempting to gain pity or attention, or anything similar, even if that's not part of your intentions not only that, this is a bit of your own personal life, and how much you say can in fact affect others or stir up long suppressed memories for people i apologize for your loss, i understand how bad it is to lose someone, but here is just not the place to let that out
3:14 Notice how Ego lands his craft deliberately flattening those trees so that the door is facing the Guardians, when he could've rotated 90 degrees and used the clearing already made by the Milano's wreck. Tells you everything about Ego in that one moment.
My dad is not an emotional man by any means, being a pretty stoic, smart-assy 60 year old, but when we watched this movie and Father & Son started to play, I could almost see tears in his eyes. It was truly amazing to hear one of our favorite shared songs in this movie used so well.
20:03 Peter understands Groot because he has a translator implant in his neck (check Mugshot scene in vol 1) and as Thor confirmed for us that Groot speak is indeed a language since he took it as an elective in Infinity War
ThePopbanks007 Nope, Groot belongs to a race known as Species X. They are incredibly reclusive and mainly stick to themselves, they pretty much stay on their planet until they grow old and die, with Groot being one of the incredibly few exceptions, and they have a symbiotic relationship with the species that Rocket belongs to. Not earth raccoons, space raccoons that are sentient. Stupid, but it’s Marvel so they get a pass. Species X are barely documented, because they are literally living trees, and anyone who has visited their planet have not actually realized that the forests are alive. Literally every member of Species X utters the phrase "I am Groot." Every. Single. One. It’s not unique to Groot, it’s unique to Species X. However prolonged contact apparently allows the person to slowly understand what is being said, Rocket knows because he’s been with Groot for years, Star Lord and the others were around Groot for years and eventually learned to understand as well. Presumably the language would be added to an intergalactic language database at that point, and it is in Guardians of the Galaxy comics where it’s been over fifty years since Star Lord's Guardian group was formed. However, for the most part, the language is pretty much understood by very few members of different species.
Haha, at first viewing I didn't catch that he also mentioned his language, and swearing. And, in case u didn't notice, groot, had wine of something poured on him, and being a plant, he absorbed it, witch might not only explain why he's so upset, we'll other then the obvious reasons, and it can kill plants, or hurt them. And if his body did prosese it, it could explain why he's being so well, adorablely a bit dumb, he could gave alcohol in his body.
16:53 It’s also an expectation subversive in my opinion, on the whole fighting giants trope. If this was a somewhat lesser film, Peter would just be a giant version of himself like his dad but no he wanted to be a giant version of Pac-Man and I love it!
I like to think that Stan Lee's Cameo character is a watcher, but he was stripped of his powers because he has a nasty habit of excessive interaction. Perhaps the others were concerned that he might intervene.
I did the same thing; thumped my chest, holding back tears... even though I knew they'd foreshadowed it with Stallone's asinine speech. And then as they cut to each ravager group, especially Stallone, I said "Frick you"... only I didn't use "Frick".
i missed it in theaters sadly, bought the bluray day one and ive watched it a couple of times, that always gets me, Yondu is up there with Starlord, Drax, and the team, he's a badass and you get to see him vulnerable and that he always cared for Quill, I had to get the Yondu figure because they sold quick and growing up without a father, I always end up attached to father characters like him or Joel from the last of us. Guardians vol. 2 is my absolute favorite movie!
Great video, but a couple additions I didn't see much of in the comments. "You were the one who wanted the win...and I just wanted a sister!" --favorite line in the entire MCU!! So much emotion and revelation of Nebula's backstory all in one line. **** Drax: They're called Harbulary Batteries Quill: *exasperated* No They're Not!!! --cracks me up every time!
17:22 Due to circumstances the day before me and my friends went to see this, when Yondu says this and passes away, I started bawling my eyes out. No, not just a single tear or a couple, full on crying, blubbering included, it hit me so hard. I calmed down abit after the scene due to the amazing comedic timing and such, but when Peter turned on the Zune and listened to the final song, which considering how it was cued was the last song Yondu listened to before saving Peter, I started bawling again. After we left the theatre, we sat in the parking lot for a minute. I asked if I could take a minute before we left, so I took out my phone and called my stepfather and told him through tears how much I loved and respected him. This movie made me finally connect with my stepfather in a real meaningful way and I cannot thank James Gunn enough. The way he can flip the script and get so many strong emotional responses on both ends of the spectrum in so little time and have them feel real is astounding.
"I ain't done nothin' right my whole damn life, rat. Let me have this one". Stuck real hard today, on my second viewing of the movie. Actually cried, lmao.
4:35 I feel like that line really encapsulated Gamora, her relationship with Quill, and the Guardians as a whole. She's encouraging Peter to give his dad a chance and see if he can really have the relationship he never had, but also recognizes that things aren't always as they seem, people will lie to try to get things out of you, and they have no qualms about killing people who cross them. It's simultaneously both very sweet and earnest but also hard and ruthless. The Guardians definitely exist in a moral gray area.
Every movie has its own flaws and it's fun to poke at all the holes, but it's nice sometimes to sit back and recount all the things that make the great movies awesome in the first place. Long live Wins and Sins!
Everett H-Top I honestly prefer Cinemawins. Make love, not hate. Cinemawins helped me learn to like several movies everyone called crap. Cinemasins never did that for me...
LedPESRule Plus they willingly manipulate scenes just so they're right. Yet people call it comedy and satire. Comedy would imply that they're funny and satire would imply that there's a real thing in the world that they're making fun of. Plus CinemaWins actually analyzes movies good or bad and will find legitimate points. Something CinemaSins can't do to save their lives.
Smarky wolf reviews Yep, agreed, I can understand that somebody can find them funny even though I don't at all, but humor is subjective... But objectively they offer basically no valid insight or criticism whatsoever, so I just don't get the point
Considering I almost didn't watch the movie because people were giving it crap reviews I 100% agree with this review that the movie is 100% awesome. And I get why CinemaWins felt the need to defend it, because I felt the need to defend it after watching it. The movie should be receiving much more praise, and James Gunn is good at what he's doing , so what if it is acknowledged in this video?! Its called CinemaWins after all, if not here where would that be mentioned...in the Cinema Sins one?! Not everything is about sucking up to people, some people genuinely enjoy a good show.
When Mantis tried to feel Gamora's feelings, as she was grabbing Mantis' hand, she was staring at Peter. Maybe she didn't want Mantis to say how she might feel about Quill.
Here's a thing, Gamora and Nebula both grew up as 'Children of Thanos' a 'father' who regularly pitted his 'children' against eachother, ensuring that they saw their siblings only as rivals. In such conditions, sharing ones inner feelings with _anyone_ would be alien and unwelcome, indeed, Gamora is so unused to any overture of friendship in GOTG 1 that she reacts to Peter dancing with her with anger... born of fear. Her willingness to give Peter and Ego the chance to be Father and Son in spite of her suspicions, shows how much she cares for Peter and then absenting herself to the hinterlands because it would actually be painful to see Peter experience a loving father, given that was something she would never have. She, in turn, is then confronted by Nebula, who was cybernetically enhanced by Thanos every time she lost a sparring match to Gamora, I'm guessing painfully, who then reveals all that Nebula ever really wanted was... family. While there are intimate moments between Gamora and Groot, Peter and Nebula, all of them happen in isolation with no onlookers, in any group situation, Gamora is all business, so her reaction to Mantis potentially putting her feelings on show is not unexpected. Not to mention that Gamora is learning restraint, she only threatened to break Mantis's jaw, not cut her head off.

Drax may not have gotten as much character development as the others, but there are two types of development: one where the character changes, and one where the audience's perception of the character changes. The scene with Mantis reading his emotions and being overcome with sobbing while he sits there staring at the pools has stuck with me for years, as one of the most perfect illustrations of deep pain beneath an unassuming surface and a beautiful sequence of someone understanding another's pain.
I literally cried in the movie theater during the funeral scene both times I saw it. Vol. 2 has got to be my favorite MCU movie. It really struck a chord with me.
22:03 I just realized that both Peter's biological father and his actual father are blue. EDIT: I JUST FOUND OUT THAT PETER WEARS BLUE IN THE COMICS!!!!!!!! Or at least the older ones anyway.
when kraglin emotionally breaks down and screams as he pounds his chest during the funeral, I had a smile and tears rolling down my eyes at the same time...so beautiful and deep
Surprised more people arent bringing up the forshadowing of Quil going in on Thanos after finding out he killed Gamora. Him shooting Ego without hesitation almost as if its just reacting without thinking really just drives home that he’s reactionary when it comes to people he loves.
After another viewing of this movie, something occurred to me that I hadn't thought of before. Ego is the 'Light' at the center of the planet and he told Peter that as long as the light exists so does Peter and that is not true. Peter is his own light. A new life from Ego and his mother. Because of this, his power is made manifest when he held the Infinity Stone, which had nothing to do with the 'Light' of Ego. This is why Ego needed Peter as a companion battery for his expansion but the reverse was never true. Ego needs Peter, but Peter never needed Ego beyond conception. It's also why the 'Hear' or 'Light' of Peter so easily found and used that power very quickly as Egos' understanding of his power was always academic whereas Peter is both brain and his compassion, something that Ego could never comprehend. I'm probably making no sense, but I wanted to put it out there just in case.
My Favorite Part Drax - So your considered a pet Mantis - Yeah, I guess. Drax - but I thought Ego would want a cute pet, Not a hideous pet. Mantis - I'm hideous? Drax - Your absolutely horrifying to look at Mantis - Oh...
On thing that CinemaSins did for me was give me the ability to spot inconsistencies and movie tropes very easily. The tropes are more for fun but spotting inconsistencies is VERY useful in day to day life. Also, it isnt exactly the opposite. Its about ways the movie messed up sure but most of the points are humorously critical rather than overly negative.
The end killed me man, i rarely get emotional during movies (the last one was star trek beyond because of nemoys passing and how much star trek meant to me as a child and even now) especially comic book movies. But this one was done perfectly and i love it i want more. Im Mary Poppins Ya'll RIP Yondu
Cameron Trivett agreed, which is why this movie was so effective and dont get me wrong i love watchmen, one of my favorite superhero movies, but because of its really dark tone (not just the lighting) i somewhat expected the tragic deaths and heartbreaking moments where ar GoTG is lighthearted and fun. But Watchmen is an amazing
Jayden Warran another thing that connects the two is character growth I mean look at rocket A goddamnwas taking raccoon has possibly the saddest character arc and story
Agreed 100% Rocket even though hes a prime member in the framchise had very little development in the previous movie (we were just introduced to him so i understand) but in this one, hes on the level of complexity that Quill and Gamora are on. Major props to James Gunn (and his brother, which adds to the movie despite being a minor character) for really making us feel and love every character. How about that fucking ending though? Adam Warlock AND the original guardians? Im super hype
I love the "PSYCHOPATH!" line. That either because she recognizes Nebula's flying or she put two and two together that it would definitely be her, she recognizes it's Nebula without having to see her.
I'm honestly shocked at the somewhat disappointed reception this film had with many fans. It's better directed, with better cinematography, a better score, better constructed action and most importantly - it's FAR more layered and thematically rich than the first film. Vol .2 says so much about parental and familiar strife, abuse and growth that I discover something new every time I see it. The first may be more streamlined on a narrative level, but that's its only upside over Vol. 2 imo. And I adore Vol. 1. The overuse of humor in the MCU is one of my biggest issues with it, and many people cite this film as one of the worst examples of intrusive humor....and when I first saw it I had the same problem. But aside a couple of dud gags here and there I feel that Gunn's humor is easily the most organic and natural to the material since the days of Favreau and Whedon. Most other overly funny MCU films simply feel like they are imitating either Favreau, Whedon or Gunn. Or all three. And it ALWAYS falls flat imo. Lesser MCU directors try and conform the film around the "house style" MCU humor while Gunn forms the humor around the film. The humor IS Gunn. Upon further viewing,, the humor doesn't stick out NEARLY as much as it did in the theater. I think at the time my tolerance for jokes in the MCU had been wearing thin, and I was hyper aware of it, looking for it to bother me instead of letting the film simply wash over me. While not hated by any means, I think Vol. 2 is pretty underrated and I hope fans come around to it more over time. Also, props for this being one of the only MCU films with a genuinely great villain.
Phase one had Loki Phase two had Ultron Phase three had Zemo,Kaecillius("Saving"the world from entropy),Ego,Vulture,Hela(Female),Killmonger, Thanos, Ghost (Survival) and Mysterio
@@berengustav7714 gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I think Loki is a fantastic and interesting character. but he was a pretty shit villain.
It was great but you forgot the best line in the entire movie; “He said ‘welcome to the freaking guardians of the galaxy’ except he didn’t say freaking”
Yondu's funeral is one of my favorite sences ever. The beautiful fireworks with Peter and Groot bonding over Father and Son (which is my favorite song), it is an incredible sence, one of the best.
I just wanted to say that I love your channel. The well thought through optimism, funny insider jokes that aren't crass (looking at you, CinemaSins), the way you talk about you family and make them part of the experience (and makes me think I'd love to be friends with such a beautiful family), how you always end your videos with very good analyses, and even the smaller stuff like the music scores you love to point out. It makes me enjoy the movies I already enjoyed even more!! ❤🐪
This is one of the main reasons I really like this channel (the end analysis). O live a lot CS, and I'm sure I would like CW as much, if it was only the "wins". But the end analysis, the lack of 'fear of trolls' and even the 'I don't care, it's what I think' attitude that keep me coming here. I love when he talks about the music as well, because that's something I always try to pay attention to (sometimes the visuals take over, I admit). In the end, it's like CW is more than the opposite of CS. People might think it's only 'a copy in the other direction', but if you stop and listen to what he says, you'll see that he really understand the movies. And it's always a win, right?
James Gunn delivers an emotional film full of character development and people online still bitch and moan. Do some jokes go on for too long? Sure, but the movie is still beautifully shot, well written, and emotional. There's a reason we all got emotional when Yondu died. That's good writing.
Alex Love I'll never understand the hate that's pointed towards this movie. You're 100% right about every point you made because Vol. 2 is just fucking fantastic.
My small problem was the completely tone changing jokes that came after a really dramatic or sad scene, like something sad or bad or dramatic happens and you're really feeling it (they accomplished that, ugh) and then there comes Rocket with a funny (I'll give you that too) comment or something to say that completely pulls you out of your sort of sadness and go "oh haha yeah right oh rip wait what haha?", that really irritated me, but otherwise I also loved it, I really did. Juust a few things that bothered me like with pretty much every other film I've seen.
Azhar Ansari there wasn't a single joke at his funeral, there was one during the Ravager Fireworks tho but that one lasts like 5 seconds and it's great
Love the video but I'm especially happy to hear you say that you don't mind 'too many jokes'. I don't understand why some people think that something is less good just because it makes you laugh.
yeah and it's Guardians of the Galaxy! of course it's gonna have a lot of funny, that's how it is. I love it, funny, emotional, exciting, all of it....I love all of it.......except Yondu dying, :( I'm gonna miss him so much "sniff"
Missed a callback there - Mantis getting hit in the circling the group shot and Drax's reaction - "Nothing goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it."
My favorite part has still got to be Mantis with Drax laughing at Quill, saying "I have never felt such humor!" I usually don't go for awkwardness, but this was almost wholesome in its torment. That line just did it for me.
Let's judge other MCU franchises Iron man 1 was great, other 2 were average. Thor 1 was good, and 2 kinda sucked. Cap is just great. And Avengers is... Avengers. So... Not much competition there.
+Liaminator I found iron man 3 to be great, because it had a villain with motivations (albiet kind of dumb ones) and Iron man was more of a character than in any other films. He had an arch. He faced issues. But thats my opinion. In fact, I liked iron man 3 more than the original.
Remembered watching this scene for the first time in the theatre and thought to myself:” Yeap, this is the saddest scene in the MCU.” Fast forward to now and it still is. Yondu died doing what was right, saving his kid.
I also think that Peter will still have his powers to some extent in the next movies. And it's not because I think that Ego was lying to him. Ego left parts of himself all over the Galaxy in the plants he was going to use in the expansion. The purpose of the plants was to essentially turn everything into himself just like the planet Ego. Just because that part of Ego died doesn't mean that there aren't other parts of him still left for Peter to possibly tap into.
Fun fact: From what I've heard, while they did animate Kurt Russell's face a little to make him look younger, most of the work was actually done from make-up. Another parallel I enjoy between Yondu and Rocket is that both of them stole 'batteries.' Rocket stole the Arbulary batteries in the film's prologue while Yondu kept kidnapping potential batteries for Ego. Even Ego tells Peter that he would use him as a battery once Peter disagrees to help.
Patrick Mahoney actually this was done with mostly CGI. Despite Kurt Russel stating it was done mostly with make up people that worked on the final product stated it was edited from by frame with cgi.

Ego:"even where I reside out past the edge of what's known we've heard tell about the man they call star-lord" Ego in a blooper:"even where I reside out past the edge of what's known we've heard tell about the man they call star wars"
What I love about this movie is how Gamora is like a mother to Groot when she comforts him before she leaves and when she said hi to him at the beginning of the movie
Yesterday it occurred to me that there might be a meaning behind Drax thinking they're exactly alike. No, they don't physically look exactly alike... but Peter acts a lot like Yondu... why not? Yondu raised him. I think maybe this was the movie using Drax to subtly hint at the bond between Quill and Yondu.
I've been watching the mcu in timeline order with a friend who's going through the first time. I didn't like this movie as much as the first when I first saw it in theaters. But the more I watch it the more I love it. Truly a awesome movie.
#rehirejamesgunn Come on guys, Guardians 3 needs him. No one in the universe is going to take his place. Let misjudged jokes tweets from a decade ago he already apologized for and vowed to never make again be just that, a mistake in his life he learned from and never did again
@@Threadnaught making jokes about something (no matter how bad the jokes are) doesn't automatically mean you are that. People joke about murder (lines like "I'm gonna kill them for that" while not being serious whatsoever) it doesn't make them actual murderers. Yes the jokes were possibly some of the worst you could make, but it was a decade ago, he apologized for it, and there is no (as of yet) evidence to say he does anything like that. I will think on the positive side, unless actual evidence proves otherwise.
I think that Stan Lee himself is The One Above All. If you're wondering who TOAA is, he's basically the most mysterious and powerful (i guess) character in all of Marvel. What I'm trying to say is this guy has absolute omnipotence and omniscience, unlike the Living Tribunal, The Watcher, the Celestial, those who held the infinity gauntlet and other who are definitely OP all of them have "partial" omnipotence and omniscience
That would be brilliant. If the Stan Lee cameos were for a character that was The One Above All, it would explain how he appears everywhere and in different roles.
Late to the party, Ego was definitely lying to Peter about his abilities coming from Ego. Remember Ego needed Peter as a 'battery' to complete his mass world remodeling, by that very concept he has power and powers. So the only thing stopping Peter from using energy blasts and shifting matter to his will is that he believes that he doesn't have any power. So hopefully in Guardians of the Galaxy VOL.3 some incident happens when he discovers that he still has these abilities, just to a lesser extent.
Also to note is how Ego's ship looks a bit like a skull from the back as it goes towards his planet. Big white skull with glowing yellow eyes and mouth
Just like Lee said about since Groot doesn't retain his previous memories, his sacrifice still stands. Memories make people who they are. 2014 Gamora is the same person, the same looks, but hasn't had the character development that 2019 Gamora did. The connection between Peter and she is not there like it used to be. Her personality is very very very close but not quite the same. The closest I can get to accurately giving an analogy is like in the Arrowverse, the difference between the original Laurel and the Earth 2 Laurel. They are the same person with different circumstances, and therefore different people.
I love JG's use of saturated, cobalt blue in both movies. It's the primary tone in the first, but he uses it as an accent against orange, gold, and yellow, making such a beautiful contrast. The cinematography alone would make this worth watching, luckily the writing is excellent & the acting brilliant, across the board. One of the best MCU films.
Absolutely the amazing continuity they created between all the films is impressive, personally I like Guardians and Avengers the most but I think that's common but with all they have accomplished cinematically they definitely deserve a bit of gloating
Making a good movie is hard, and making a good sequel is even harder. What Marvel did requires godly amounts of persistence, time, and sheer ability. They set up their massive universe bit by bit, then put it all together with the Avengers. Then they continued to make more and more movies, and in just under a decade, they produced a universe as expansive and interconnected as our own. They used hundreds of actors, dozens of writers, and even several different composers to bring it all to life. They deserve to boast about this insane accomplishment.

Imo that's why she decided to help them
Oh I never thought of it that way, that’s smart! :O
That's a really insightful theory actually I accept that as canon
You have opened my eyes. This is now Canon, unless word of god says otherwise. And maybe even then.
So Drax grief saved them
And you can see how much PAIN he really feels under that stoic face projected onto her.

8:48 is such an underrated line by Drax. To me he's clearly referring to himself. He knows he's ugly, and he knows his wife loved him, so he knows that she loved him for who he is.
Excuse me, Drax is a handsome boyo
That whole scene is beautiful
He's a good looking guy to me
Doesn't he say that it's hard to be beautiful for that reason?

Well said. That scene is so underrated.
Would love to see you come back to this comment after GOTG3 lol
Chris Pratt's acting in Yondu's death scene is incredible. The desperation, sadness, and love he emotes when he yells "Nooo!" is fucking gut-wrenching..
Alex Love Do you know why? It was his moment to channel his recent loss of his own dad. That was genuine sorrow.
realar, yea I thought about that too. Using your own experiences is what acting is all about.
Alex Love was his performance bad? No, but it's definitely not incredible. He didn't even shed a tear. It would've been really emotional if he actually cried.
Hey, Yito.... Shut up.
The last time he says "aww no" just comes off as comedic to me idk why. Strong acting throughout that scene though.
"I know who you are boy, because you're me!"
"Until everything is me."
This shows the different perspectives of Yondu and Ego right there. Yondu sees himself in others, while Ego wants to force everything to be like him. It's someone who lives for and within the universe versus one who just wants to control it, a feeling person versus a utilitarian who just uses people. Quite powerful, and only just noticed it.
Perspective Win! It's true though and thanks, I didn't realise it until now.
I guess you could say Ego has a really big ego
I'll let myself out
Don't you mean totalitarian? Because utilitarian is something different.

Dutch_Noob_
I think that’s an awesome observation!
You just fixed a big problem I had with this movie. Thanks!
It was just Peter's unlucky day.

which make it sadder considering that Groot have really died in the last movie...

Peter understands Groot because he has a translator implant in his neck (check Mugshot scene in vol 1) and as Thor confirmed for us that Groot speak is indeed a language since he took it as an elective in Infinity War
But he didn't understand him in Vol 1
ThePopbanks007 The language probably wasn’t in the database at that point in time.
@@decimation9780 lol, now you're just making stuff up.

When you realize that Peter Quill lost both of his fathers died within an hour.
More like 5 minutes
When Mantis tried to feel Gamora's feelings, as she was grabbing Mantis' hand, she was staring at Peter. Maybe she didn't want Mantis to say how she might feel about Quill.
She obviously likes him too
Here's a thing, Gamora and Nebula both grew up as 'Children of Thanos' a 'father' who regularly pitted his 'children' against eachother, ensuring that they saw their siblings only as rivals.

I agree. I saw the movie after my dad passed away. Helped me to process that.

Phase one had Loki
Phase two had Ultron
Phase three had Zemo,Kaecillius("Saving"the world from entropy),Ego,Vulture,Hela(Female),Killmonger, Thanos, Ghost (Survival) and Mysterio
I think it’s a brilliant sequel & easily as good as the original 👍
"Kill me, and you'll be just like everyone else!"
I even seen a few put it on the same level as Iron Man 2 or Thor: The Dark World for fuck’s sakes.
@@berengustav7714 gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I think Loki is a fantastic and interesting character. but he was a pretty shit villain.
everything great about guardians of the galaxy

Danny! Hola!

How are you even here!?
I think that the second guardians of the galaxy did better than the first.
I'm beginning to think that Danny is the internet equivalent of Stan Lee
U are everywhere
This is easily one of my favorite MCU movies. It's got comedy (a crap ton of it) heart, and action. I love it
It was great but you forgot the best line in the entire movie;
“He said ‘welcome to the freaking guardians of the galaxy’ except he didn’t say freaking”
except this comment is wrong
Groot, watch your language!
MEME GOD except he didn’t...
Yondu's funeral is one of my favorite sences ever. The beautiful fireworks with Peter and Groot bonding over Father and Son (which is my favorite song), it is an incredible sence, one of the best.
WATCH OUT HERE COMES MY ARROW!

BladeOfFlames Productions Legolas sucks and Yondu is the one!!!!
BladeOfFlames Productions hishe

BladeOfFlames Productions im not the only one who has that stuck in my head then lol
Alex Love I would have gotten emotional but they turned it into a joke during his funeral, just like every other plot point in the movie
Azhar Ansari there wasn't a single joke at his funeral, there was one during the Ravager Fireworks tho but that one lasts like 5 seconds and it's great
Victor Ferger I think your thinking of Doctor Strange, right after the Ancient One dies they cut to a joke.
14:56 I never noticed before how genuinely worried and upset he looks at having to cause Nebula Pain for their plan to work.
Win for spelling bautista instead of batista *Ding*
well, he was known as "Batista" so I can understand why some people may spell his last name that way
Vesra Valash would get a win for spelling it Bootista if you ever followed his wrestling
No because I'm from the attitude era and not the PG-14 era. That's a sin for you *Ding*
You mean the era where Stephanie McMahon had an incest baby?
WWE is not real....
Chris Hammond *ding*
With your head
My favorite part has still got to be Mantis with Drax laughing at Quill, saying "I have never felt such humor!"
I usually don't go for awkwardness, but this was almost wholesome in its torment. That line just did it for me.
It’s the delivery that makes it
DO EVERYTHING GREAT ABOUT KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE!!!!!!!!

Broken TV Games yes! amazing movie that got overlooked in my area
Chase Jordan Agreed
Church scene: +50 wins.
In my opinion. Guardians 2, amazing sequel! Really did not disappointment.
I just do prefer Guardians 1 but just barely, barely!!
Omg same
I loved this movie soooo much! Guardians of one of the best marvel franchises to date and I can't wait to see more!!!
Let's judge other MCU franchises
Iron man 1 was great, other 2 were average.
Well, the villains for the most part suck. Aside from Vulture, Loki and Ego.
I am Groot
Liaminator Winter soldier?
Remembered watching this scene for the first time in the theatre and thought to myself:” Yeap, this is the saddest scene in the MCU.”
Fast forward to now and it still is.
Yondu died doing what was right, saving his kid.
Epic scene
I also think that Peter will still have his powers to some extent in the next movies. And it's not because I think that Ego was lying to him. Ego left parts of himself all over the Galaxy in the plants he was going to use in the expansion. The purpose of the plants was to essentially turn everything into himself just like the planet Ego. Just because that part of Ego died doesn't mean that there aren't other parts of him still left for Peter to possibly tap into.
stonecoldku but if you saw they turned gray indcating that they "died"
stonecoldku wrong haha
Fun fact: From what I've heard, while they did animate Kurt Russell's face a little to make him look younger, most of the work was actually done from make-up.
Another parallel I enjoy between Yondu and Rocket is that both of them stole 'batteries.' Rocket stole the Arbulary batteries in the film's prologue while Yondu kept kidnapping potential batteries for Ego. Even Ego tells Peter that he would use him as a battery once Peter disagrees to help.
Patrick Mahoney it's anulax battery, but still an "OK" for Drax. LOL
Patrick Mahoney actually this was done with mostly CGI. Despite Kurt Russel stating it was done mostly with make up people that worked on the final product stated it was edited from by frame with cgi.
Aaron Schwartz was the body double for Young Ego. They had Russell's skin digitally added onto Schwartz' face.

Drax: You 2 look exactly alike!
Rocket: ONES BLUE ?!?
That face of pure "dafuq" on rockets face made that one of my favorite scenes in the movie 😂
Drax: You two look exactly alike!
Rocket: ONE'S BLUE?!?!?!
Me: ONE'S F**KING BLUE YOU IDIOT
Also Me: *_HAHAHAHAHHAHAH_*
Drax's shrug after that made it even better.
Yes! I think I can safely say it was my favourite moment because I die laughing at his reaction everytime😂
I also love Drax' reaction, where he kinda gestures at Peter, like 'yeah, he is..'
I've been watching the mcu in timeline order with a friend who's going through the first time. I didn't like this movie as much as the first when I first saw it in theaters. But the more I watch it the more I love it. Truly a awesome movie.
#rehirejamesgunn
Come on guys, Guardians 3 needs him. No one in the universe is going to take his place. Let misjudged jokes tweets from a decade ago he already apologized for and vowed to never make again be just that, a mistake in his life he learned from and never did again
They did
Mission: accomplished
Who's willing to bet he never got fired Disney just lied to please the snowflakes lmao
And even if he does rape little boys, Disney should supply him with as many as he wants as long as he keeps making movies.
Oriaj Syno uhm yeah the one above all is literally god in the marvel universe with unlimited power and unlimited wisdom
Living Tribunal, as in Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil? :)
9:52 oh my god is that your son. he is adorable. even more with the baby Groot there too.
Also to note is how Ego's ship looks a bit like a skull from the back as it goes towards his planet. Big white skull with glowing yellow eyes and mouth
I also feel that the ship needs a tail. When the ship is arriving at Ego's planet (self?), it looks like fertilization.
Spoiler for end game
I don’t know how I feel about gamora not knowing who quill is
Same
Well technically this Gamora is from before vol 1
Just like Lee said about since Groot doesn't retain his previous memories, his sacrifice still stands. Memories make people who they are. 2014 Gamora is the same person, the same looks, but hasn't had the character development that 2019 Gamora did. The connection between Peter and she is not there like it used to be. Her personality is very very very close but not quite the same. The closest I can get to accurately giving an analogy is like in the Arrowverse, the difference between the original Laurel and the Earth 2 Laurel. They are the same person with different circumstances, and therefore different people.
Hmm, there's a Vsauce video about that.
I honestly have a minor theory that Nebula and Peter might end up together.
0:10 - I'll admit it is a bit indulgent but at this point, Marvel Studios has earned the right to gloat.
Sean Nasuti Especially when only ONE DCEU film was impressive.
+realar
Let's not start that here.
realar Lol I'm pretty sure they didn't make a crazy looking intro just because of dc.
