If you haven't played the Mad Max video game (its fantastic) there are some nods to the game in this movie too. The little glimpse of Max we see in this movie is dressed exactly like he is in the game AND the main villain of the game is named Scrotus! So i guess thats why we don't see his fate in this movie, because we can play it out in the game
yes and no. From my understanding Miller wrote a bunch of notes about the lore of the Wasteland as he was plotting Fury Road, and he shared those notes with the game developers. So he's wasn't exactly nodding to the game, more so he was referencing the material that was also ALSO used by the game. The game isn't exactly canon, which is why Scrotus looks very different from his game counterpart. Another example is there is a mission where you drive a car with a Skeleton on a motorcycle on the roof. That vehicle belonged to a dead warlord named Dr.D... the D stood for Dementus.
@@nonspiderweb It's not so much that Miller shared it with em as much as Warner forcibly took possession of them when they were developing the game. They had a very complicated relationship this past decade
The blackthumb that gives Furiosa the peg-wheeled car before the finale is Chumbucket from that game. Also I'm pretty sure there was a woman who was once a slave of Warlord Dementus in the game.
Thank you for noticing the cape thing with dementus, I told everyone about it yet nobody believed me, i saw it when I first watched it then I confirmed it when I watched it a second time, god you have no idea how good it feels for someone else to see this too
I watched furiosa before I ever watched fury road, and I watched them back to back, and it's so funny to essentially see max show up in essentially her story, do some cool stuff, and leave
That's actually kinda Max's thing. The only one that's really his story is the first one. Otherwise he just shows up when other people have their own stuff going on.
My head canon is that the guy pissing off the cliff is also Max. Remember he has existed since before the world went to hell. Edit: made this comment before I got to the mention in the video lol
How didnt the Win Counter EXPLODE with Mary Jabassa’s killstreak on the ravine! Then you are filled with anger when they capture her Probably one of the most satisfying scenes in this movie
Furiosa may not be Fury Road, but who the hell cares? It's an amazing movie in its own right and has one of the best takes on the "revenge is bad" trope.
I think it's interesting how dementus could very well be max, he's really well written, similar story, I hope they do make a max that sticks to the first movie story and helps out in a way that makes sense, I hated how weak his change of heart felt compared to everything else in the movies except for the first one
I think one of the problems is that people went in expecting Fury Road and were disappointed when they didn't get it. Also, misogyny. I saw someone ranting that it's stupid to have a "Mad Max" movie that doesn't feature Max. That same person said "I'd love to see a movie focused on Nux." The cognitive dissonance is astounding.
@@tdylan funny enough it does tho? He's not part of the story but he was watching it unfold, which is kinda what he always does, but yeah sadly anytime it's "why's a girl here, I want to see a man do this instead"
It's Predator 2, a good and solid movie - but not what people wanted from a sequel* and it suffers as such. But in about 20 years people will admit it was a decent movie in it's own right.
@@aaronbeaton4785 I like that analogy. I remember watching predator 2 for the first time and really liking it in large part because it wasn't "predator" but again. Similar to "Alien" and "Aliens." (1) There is no way it would have been able to match the original. (2) It would likely have been panned for simply copying the original instead of trying to "do something new."
21:59 I'm fairly certain the changing colors of Dementus's cape and overall outfit are meant to represent the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The first Horseman is Conquest, riding a white horse. Dementus begins the movie wearing white and we see him going around conquering and abducting smaller gangs in the Wasteland, all while also hunting for the Green Place in order to take it over. He's literally doing conquest. The second Horseman is War, riding a red horse. When Dementus goes up against the Citadel he becomes Red Dementus, staining himself with the red flares. However, the Citadel proves to be a far more challenging foe for Dementus than he had planned, one who cannot simply be conquered. So he goes to war with the Citadel, sparking the Forty-Day Wasteland War. The third Horseman is Famine, riding a black horse. After taking over Gastown, Dementus dons more black and becomes Dark Dementus. However, time and the war have dwindled his supplies, leaving him and what remaining men he has starved for resources. They're in famine. The fourth final Horseman is Death, rider of the pale horse. Once Furiosa finally captures Dementus, all of the other dyes and pigments he's used have been blown off by the desert winds, leaving his now graying hair painfully visible. The death comparisons become even more stark in the final shots of him with the peach tree growing out of him. Dementus's body is shriveled and emaciated, almost like a skeleton. He's not dead, being actively denied death and ironically used as sustenance for the tree's life, but he almost certainly would rather be. All of this also makes the History Man's description of Furiosa as "The fifth Rider of the Apocalypse" feel a little more poignant.
one of my favorite fun facts about this movie is that the character Scrotus is from Mad Max the videogame, and this movie is written in a way that doesn't contradict the story of the videogame! Dementus is also mentioned in the game but I'm not sure when
First we had Chris Evans proving he can play great villains in Knives Out and The Gray Man, and now we have Chris Hemsworth doing the same for this movie. Now we just need Chris Pratt to play a villain.
I'd like to point out at 24:00 that when in the movie, the guy Dementus reprimands for 'losing his touch' quickly sheathes his machete. I believe he was the one who chopped off Furiosa's arm to set her free.
23:29 if you look closely, you can see frankenstien (the big dude dementus called soft) putting away his machete as dementus approaches. I like to think he freed her out of spite. we see him again at the end with the history man, implying them both to be her "allies" from earlier
After watching Furiosa, I went on to watch Fury Road again and everything feels so much better this time. Especially the scene where Furiosa collapsed after realizing her home has gone forever

I watched this film in theatre and the experience was unbeatable, I watched this with my step-dad we watched fury road right when it came out together and despite the shotty cgi during the war rig clash this movie seriously should be a poster on your wall.
Cranky Black, I believe, is an offroad version of the Beck Customs F132 hot rod that was featured in the 2015 Need For Speed video game. The car with the missing wheel that Furiosa is given by the hunchback and takes to the front lines, I'm fairly certain, could be the player's vehicle from the Mad Max video game, prior to the hunchback meeting Max.
Reaaaaally loved it. I normally don't go for brutal, wasteland post-apoc, but this spin on Max Mad has been the exception, and I desperately want to see that Part 3. I hope they give it to him!
One time I went to the cinema for a different movie and while I was waiting in line the Furiosa trailer was playing. One part of it was the shootout scene between Furiosa and Hemsworth, and right as Furiosa is done speaking it cuts to Hemsworth firing a rocket launcher he got out of nowhere, and I just thought that was hilarious. Props to the editor for that.
There is one silver lining in that the Australian government funded $100 million of the budget for Furiosa, so it's not impossible the movie made back its money. I would really love for George Miller to get the opportunity to finish this trilogy -- these movies are unlike anything else out there, and people (not to mention film students) will be watching them as long as people are watching movies.
Genuinely excited for this turn for Helmsworth. A few years ago I caught "Bad Times at the El Royale" in theaters and A) was SUCH an overlooked gem of a movie and B) made me sit up and go "Oh. Helmsworth you better have fired your last agent." Also where I saw Cynthia Erivo for the first time and she also rocked that movie.
This movie was my first 4D experience, and boy howdy was it fantastic. With the rise and fall of the seats as cars and bikes shot up and down dunes and canyons, getting water spray with each headshot, or the pounding score you could feel in your chest: it was a ride in the truest sense of the word. Add onto the physical experience with a really gripping story of pain and the strength you have to find within yourself to endure it, and you’ve got one of the best movies of the year. The fact that the movie kind of flopped at the box office is a tragedy, because it deserves all of its’ flowers, or I guess, peaches.
Ngl kinda surprised that you went the entire video without making a comparison between Jack and Big Boss from the mgs series. As he really does look a lot like him at times. To the point where hideo kojima even made the comparison as well.
35:09 That smirk he has, knowing that Furiosa has shown she is like him; torturing someone violently rather than just killing him (A living person would die quickly in that kind of situation so would offer no benefit over a cadaver)
Rewatched this film today. Such a great companion piece to Fury Road and also a great tale of revenge on its own. I need to buy the Blu-Ray because watching this on my computer screen just ain't cutting it anymore.
It's wild to find out most people apparently hate the thing you like. Recently had a similar experience with Dragon Age Inquisition. When Veilguard came out, it was the first time I paid any attention to what other people had to say about the series at all and learned my favorite game in the series (Inquisition) was generally hated.
When I saw Fury Road in theaters I immediately went and got tickets to see it again the next day. When I saw Furiosa in theaters I couldn't help but keep comparing it to Fury Road which was unfair. As I have now watched it twice more plus Sins, Wins, and Pitch I have a full appreciation for just how good this movie really is. The only fault I can find in it is that it didn't come out first as it seems that was the original intention. Also I know the game isn't considered canon but damn was it cool seeing the cross refences. Also Also if you ever play the game it needs surround sound or good headphones because it is an audio masterpiece.
Good Lord, this review, no, this insightful essay was exactly what I needed to hear about the latest Mad Max installment. I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember of George Miller’s masterpieces, but since Furiosa release, we have been inundated by reviews, stating only the box office, and I needed reminding I felt it was so brilliant, for fear that I would succumb to the belief that it was somehow lesser. Thank you for your words. Long live Mad Max.
15:45 up until they mullet in the movie I want really sold. Everything was a bit weird, I want sure. But the chain event of ignite the bomb, throw it, the war boy catches it, jumps, explosion, cat flip, camera mouvement. I was SOLD for the rest of the movie. ^^

That knife that Furiosa uses during the truck fight is a real weapon (or inspired by one), it's one part gun, one part knife and one part brass knuckles (or knuckle duster), it's called the Apache revolver but it was actually invented in either France or Belgium with it being used by French gangs in the early 1900's.
I do like their channel, but for this movie it really sparks a lot of joy that your video is 1,5x times as long as the cinemasins video and also has much more likes Furiosa is different than fury road, but also just as good a movie
What I truly loved was how much this film added so much depth to Furiosa's motivation of redemption in Fury Road. Like, there WAS always the implication that being the only non-milker/non-breeder we see in the Citadel meant she did some SHIT to become the apparent commander of Joe's army, and that leading that army she has done WORSE than THAT. But Furiosa (the movie) really could be a VILLAIN ORIGIN STORY if not for knowing Fury Road follows it, because does Dementus kinda call Furiosa out correctly in that she IS becoming him; HAS become him by that scene of just the two of them, hurting others and seeking sensation to try to dull the deepest pains inflicted on her that will never fade, one of the already-dead. Furthermore, she also helps empower and entrench the worst warlord in the Wasteland for the sake of her own revenge. She DOES have a LOT to want to redeem herself for, and that's just what we SEE.
It's like you said in the Joker video. Dementus to me feels like a guy who's living his last day perpetually. Like he's waiting for someone to put him out of his misery but at the same time he wants to see how far he can go before then.
I like how the brassknuckles/knife/gun is actually a thing used by gangs in paris waaay back. All the insane vehicles and weapons created for the movies and that is an actual thing.

Came here to mention this. To add to that, the character who ends up helping Furiosa with her car is Chumbucket! Your mechanic buddy in the game.
@@nonspiderweb
It's not so much that Miller shared it with em as much as Warner forcibly took possession of them when they were developing the game. They had a very complicated relationship this past decade
The blackthumb that gives Furiosa the peg-wheeled car before the finale is Chumbucket from that game.
Also I'm pretty sure there was a woman who was once a slave of Warlord Dementus in the game.
proud to say i was an extra in this film
That’s freaking awesome!!!!
At what point??
DA CINEMA KING IS BACK BABY HE NEVA MISS WE'RE EATING GOOD TODAY Y'ALL
Thank you for noticing the cape thing with dementus, I told everyone about it yet nobody believed me, i saw it when I first watched it then I confirmed it when I watched it a second time, god you have no idea how good it feels for someone else to see this too
Wait people didn't notice the cape? I loved the "Red Dementus!" and "black dementus!" lines and color changes!
@ I’m saying the people didn’t believe me when I said it showed how demntus changed
Then you are filled with anger when they capture her
Probably one of the most satisfying scenes in this movie
Nothing about Peach picking a peach? Disappointed.
Week 203 of asking for Everything Great About Dead Man's Chest
Its not a desire, but a NEED
Keep going. I asked for mine for a loooooong time. It finally happened. This will, too!
Pleeeaaassseeeee
At this point, I’ll join your noble crusade!
WEEK????
Nah Lee, don't worry, as a car enjoyer myself, Cranky Black is absolutely sick as hell and you're right to love it
As another fellow car guy I agree
Dementus is also mentioned in the game but I'm not sure when
I guess he hit the weights after Furiosa
13:51 A hug the sun reference is so niche and here for it.
First we had Chris Evans proving he can play great villains in Knives Out and The Gray Man, and now we have Chris Hemsworth doing the same for this movie. Now we just need Chris Pratt to play a villain.
Nah mate we need Pratt to f# off
I mean Passengers is basically that right?
So true always wonder why was it a love story when its clearly horror
Chris Pratt is playing a villain in real life.
I thought we all knew that Pratt can only Pratt.
I like to think he freed her out of spite. we see him again at the end with the history man, implying them both to be her "allies" from earlier
the fact that you didn't realize that "Praetorian Jack" is the same guy who played Athos in The Musketeers surprises me.
I kind of love how this was the next movie Chris starred in after Love and Thunder.
I had a pretty rough day today.
I needed this.
Thank you.
Hang in there mate.
Glad that you're here - you're among friends.
@@stickiedmin6508 Thank you!!
Soo worth the wait! It's super sized! Thanks again for the positive space you've created here.
Peeeeak, so glad I wartched this when it was in theaters
I watched it twice it was so good
Love the Easter egg of the first scene where Furiosa blows the whistle Max used in the Thunderdome to defeat Master Blaster.
Chris Hemsworth played a one of the best villians of 2024 and is orion pax in Transfomers One he did had a good year ❤
6:33. That bike has a rotary engine. That's an airplane engine. That's beyond silly. That's like the cherry on the cake.
Does the speed come out when you put the boomjuice in? If so its good enough
BMW took this personally
After watching Furiosa, I went on to watch Fury Road again and everything feels so much better this time. Especially the scene where Furiosa collapsed after realizing her home has gone forever
The Brave Little Toaster absolutely slaps
For not being a car guy, your inspection of the hot rod interceptor is spot on! It's one of my favorites, too!
No still frame for the next EGA video? Oh well? Here’s a list of suggestions to consider for future EGA videos:
-The Wild Robot
-Deadpool & Wolverine
-The Iron Giant
-The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Extended Edition)
-Arthur Christmas
-The Lost World: Jurassic Park
-Star Wars: Clone Wars (2008 Film)
-Night at the Museum
-We’re Back: A Dinosaurs’ Story
-Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey
Gladiator
Paddington 2
There a new Jurassic World film out next year so he'll probably do Lost world then.
Thanks Cinemawins. Your positivity cheers me up.
Great video. Was really upset this week after searching for EGA Shutters Island and not getting a video. So now officially asking for it
Can’t wait for next week!!! ❤
Episode 182 of requesting The Princess Bride! :D
i am never gonna stop asking for everything great about a silent voice
Oh my gawd, you two are insufferably adorable. Please don't stop being awesome to each other.
Havnt finished yet so don't know if you bring it up, but Dementus' cape changes through the colors of the biblical 4 horsemen.
Thank you for your positivity. It's needed.
with history man's tattoos and clothes, there's the implication he's wearing human leather which is neat
Great to meet you this past weekend. Can't wait to see the next chapter in Twigs wasteland adventure.
2:04 "Geoge Miller"
I’ve been missing cinemawins, but I’ve been missing cinemawins word of the week even more
I watched this film in theatre and the experience was unbeatable, I watched this with my step-dad we watched fury road right when it came out together and despite the shotty cgi during the war rig clash this movie seriously should be a poster on your wall.
I've been waiting for this one for months. Love this movie so much!
I absolutely agree with Julia regarding the apocalypse. When I was young, I had plans to survive. Now, I just want to embrace the mushroom cloud.
Since the 10 year anniversary is coming up can we get Everything Great about Interstellar
I was waiting for this. Thank yoU!
Helmsworth you better have fired your last agent."
Also where I saw Cynthia Erivo for the first time and she also rocked that movie.
I latched onto this movie so hard and it became a passionate special interest- will watch this later when my eye feels better!
I like the interpretation that Dementus, with his nose and his leg brace and his dead sprog, is an evil mirror of Max himself.
So glad I saw this one in theatres, especially since I never saw Mad Max on the big screen.
Ngl kinda surprised that you went the entire video without making a comparison between Jack and Big Boss from the mgs series. As he really does look a lot like him at times. To the point where hideo kojima even made the comparison as well.
35:09
That smirk he has, knowing that Furiosa has shown she is like him; torturing someone violently rather than just killing him (A living person would die quickly in that kind of situation so would offer no benefit over a cadaver)
Rewatched this film today. Such a great companion piece to Fury Road and also a great tale of revenge on its own. I need to buy the Blu-Ray because watching this on my computer screen just ain't cutting it anymore.
Shout out to talented wives. Both Julia and the reason Mad Max looks so good, Margaret Sixel, George Miller’s editor (and wife!)
The edit at the end is rlly good
It's sucks this movie underperformed at the box office
Cinema is back
15:45 Clearly this War Boy is continuing the ancient and honored Australian martial art of Jarate.
I think there is a good chance that the Green Place failed because Immortan Joe turned off the water that fed the river that fed the Green Place.
OK holy shit I did not expect a "Hug the Sun" reference in a CinemaWins video 😂
Will he start calling coffee "morning brown"?
It's wild to find out most people apparently hate the thing you like.
Recently had a similar experience with Dragon Age Inquisition. When Veilguard came out, it was the first time I paid any attention to what other people had to say about the series at all and learned my favorite game in the series (Inquisition) was generally hated.
I had the same experience with Toy Story 4.
Some people just can't let other people have fun.
I like that Demenetus has a LeMat revolver, it doesnt get enough love in movies.
If I remember correctly, it shows furiosa leave after losing her arm. She walks toward a bike in the dust. It’s in the background, unassuming.
0:05 I wonder who it could be....😉. Okay jokes aside It's good to see you and Julia together ❤ Love you guys.
i really love every one of these videos
Was not expecting a Hug The Sun reference in a video about Furiosa! Australia is a strange place indeed.
15:45 up until they mullet in the movie I want really sold. Everything was a bit weird, I want sure. But the chain event of ignite the bomb, throw it, the war boy catches it, jumps, explosion, cat flip, camera mouvement.
I was SOLD for the rest of the movie. ^^
Wow I remember seeing a cinemawins video a little while ago where he said he was 50 something years old and I thought it was a joke, now I see him for the first time in the intro here, I’m 22 and have been watching cinemawins for years and always thought from his voice and the style of his commentary that he was around my age 😂😂
I want you to cry with the rest of us. We need an “Everything Great About The Wild Robot.”
I do like their channel, but for this movie it really sparks a lot of joy that your video is 1,5x times as long as the cinemasins video and also has much more likes
Furiosa is different than fury road, but also just as good a movie
15:43 I was honestly shocked you didn't make a Jarate joke.
Probably my fav film of the year
being a biker myself loved this so much
I'm so glad that someone else caught that the leader of Gastown was in Fury Road!
