The best theory I've ever heard for the shakiness of any definitive mad max timeline is that when you're watching a mad max movie, you're watching a folk tale about an archetypal "man in black" or "knight errant" that is told and retold and changed in a verbal history, rather than watching the events depicted first-hand (like the viewer is watching a cinematic adaptation of a story told around campfires in the wasteland) The max's are always different men, who only maybe existed in any sense, and whose actions in the wasteland inspired stories of influential strangers that got blended into a monomyth. It's the head-canon I live with anyway

THIS. Similiarly, I recently rewatched "Young Guns Two" and realized it never claims to be historical fact, only a story told to convince a lawyer . The level of truth is left to the viewer.

The theory of it being Max's story told by different people holds strong as fury road and road warrior can be seen as the same legend told by different people in different periods of time. And it's kinda confirmed with furiosa's ending
But those two are the same max simple point with his car and in both fury road and road warrior he loses the interceptor, but they're are alot more similarities within the two films
I am happy to say thunder dome is a different max, as furiosa also shows different people dressed like max who could be lumped and confused as being the same person

In this case, Furiosa wouldnt fit neither a Joe nor Jane doe because she is already Imperator Furiosa. A big fucking deal in all of the wasteland. Not to mention what else she might have become AFTER Fury Road. She probably is an even BIGGER deal. That means he was a young man. I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad you preserve his memory, shiny and chrome as it is. The fun times, the times you bonded, the things you bonded over.
You'll do the same when you have some kids.
I lost my old man when I was 22. It didn't affect me that severely then. But it did fester, bc of the changes it caused. The losses it perpetuated. The path my life took as a result.
My point is don't let that happen. Idk how to avoid it but I will say my friends always said I was too focused on the past. I argued but now I know they were probably right.
At same time, I feel like it's a sin to forget what gave one's life meaning. We honor our parents by remembering all they gave us. But I'm far less well adjusted so I wouldn't worry

I don't think any of these timelines make any sense, i'm not sure if as much thought was put into it as it was put into this video and i don't say this to mock the franchise but just saying.. Mad max is kind of the dumbest franchise to choose to be a theory crafting fanatic. It's just the kind of entertainment movie that existed before the marvels, it's like just because post apocalpytic, or because it's well made doesn't mean it's meant to be deep and layered and i love the movies but it's just not making any sense on the larger scale.
Look at Fallout the franchise, there we know, bombs dropped and roughly 200 years later things pick up with the MC, now it's clear and cut, there are people from the time of the bombs because of hibernation chambers but most people, that just kept on living inside or outside of vaults, generation after generation, slowly forgetting things, sacred old world information etc.
In mad max, i'm not sure who is meant to be how old, Immortan Joe was alive during pre apocalyptic world, tops hes 70 but could even be 50 in fury road that means there is but one new born generation if we measure it by a full life cycle, from birth to old age, that generation that was born right after the fall, haven't gotten even old yet. Joe bore children, multiple, many many ones, each taking time to grow. He has children from multiple mothers, so that widens the approximate time-line going counter intuitive from what we know. What about Max, Furiosa, every information we know and or we see promotes a different assumption, i don't know if the fall was 2 years ago, 20, or 200 because all seems like a likely possibility. Max was a Cop ? Hold on. A cop or is that some kind of, post apocalyptic lingo to something totally else, was max alive during the normal world too ? But Furiosa was born after, yet they seem the same age given her hair was intentionally made greyish in the movie, or was he born after or did furiosa just barely born just right after the fall ?
Because of Max and Immortan Joe and Furiosa i cannot see a way there is more then one new born generation into the "Fall" wich would be fine, if things didn't also try to tell me that the old world is ancient, like 200 years old.
This is why i don't wanna think about Mad Max lore because it just pisses me off. Otherwise i love to enjoy the film because it's just so fucking metal.

Another interesting thing is, a piece of ancillary media I can't remember stated the Pacific Ocean is drastically more shallow and receded while the Atlantic is flooded and the Ice Caps have melted. This is because the fact all the nuclear weapons in the world being shot in all directions from 7 different nations had tectonic/volcanic consequences that significantly altered ocean currents (which, in turn lose their ability to regulate climate). So, it's said Sidney harbor is dry and we see the salt desert that used to be underwater because the Australian Pacific Coast is now 500km further out. It creates an environmental feedback loop with the additional myriad effects of nuclear war that affect the entire area of the world and keep getting worse. Meanwhile, coastal America and Europe are now underwater and the effects of nuclear war are likely even worse there. Meaning these parts of the world are even more irradiated with infrastructure even more ruined while being submerged and possibly even seeing a mini Ice Age. Not good.

Fukushima was famous already during the late 70s and early 80s as part of the project that would propel Japan to the forefront of the use of nuclear energy, a fact very much in notoriety given that a country which was the only one ever destroyed by a nuclear bomb would be the forefront of the nuclear energy "ideal". The plant started operation on those times, and through the 80s was considered one of the safest in the World.
It is proposed that if they did not changed its design philosophy during the 90s, and instead kept their focus, the accident in 2011 would never have happened, as people point out changes for efficiency in the 1990s and 2000s were the primary drive to the weakness that the accident relied on to happen.

Well, if you adjust the film's budget for inflation, it still only comes out to around $1.5 million...
Imagine that kind of success in 2024. We get about a dozen movies per year with a budget near $100M and they are almost always huge flops. That doesn't even consider the fact that marketing budgets are typically around 1.5× the production budget.
Hollywood/film industry seems like a huge money laundering scheme nowadays doesn't it?

Only thing the messes with me a little in the newer movies is that there are smart phones used as mirrors in furiosa but you could say that either the rest of the world kept going for a while or that the newer films are set further in the future. If like to think that the rest of the work was still civilised fod a while and that mad max is still pretty old but they couldnt get mel gibson to play as max so they just had to do with someone younger

Just a note on Immortan Joe
His Gigahorse wasn't actually a V16. Initially they were just going to give it a V8 and put a panel over it to make it look like two V8s but then they got a budget increase so they did it for real. The engine is two V8 engines side by side, connected by an absurdly complicated and custom built gearbox.
The reason behind this (and the rest of the Gigahorse's design) was based on the idea of "In a place where most people don't have one of anything, he has two of everything" (or something along those lines, I don't remember the exact quote.

Since I was a kid I've always loved the mad Max movies. Something in them just spoke to me that this was going to be the future. Horrible people fighting for what's left of resources. But the way they use Joe in the fury road movie. in the way he uses the ideal of The Valkyrie snatching you from the battlefield to bring you Valhalla.that was just chef's kiss on that world.from the moment the first war boy yelled witnessed me as he falls out the citadel trying to get max back in. I know this movie was going to blow my mind. I can't even imagine if they actually gave Miller the money and kept on the series back in the day with Mel Gibson. How many delightful wonderful tasty treats we would have I don't know but it sounds good

Big fan of The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunder dome as a kid. I watched Mad Max a few times but I was so confused. It is not post apocalypse and I cant understand anything they say. I still appreciate it tho.
But I was so fucking excited for Fury Road. It was critically acclaimed. And it had a little of all my favorite shit except maybe sci fi but some a that too.
I won't say I was disappointed but I would've been if not for one thing: the dude playing a monster double guitar FLAME THROWER and he's on like a giant speaker car and he's also on bungie cords.
That was and remains the most Rock 'N Roll thing Ive ever witnessed. It is so fucking cool. That alone made it worth it

some elaboration on some of the lore, the MFP was a special force above normal police that served as the last line of enforcement on the open roads. was a highly dangerous job with a short life expectancy for its officers. Max points out in the first film discussing his retirement that he has lived far longer than anyone in the department, wishing to get out before he dies or consumed with PTSD from the job. then as the story unfolds he snaps, hence Mad Max, I also never thought Nightrider was ever mad but was in a state of an adrenaline rush, as he just escaped custody, killed his parole officers and stole the MFP Pursuit car ie. the black Holden HQ, which the black XB max takes is the replacement for. I also consider the pilot the same character, and his son the product of the blonde he fancies in MM2. could also be the same bum in the matrix, or the mouth of Sauron, that actor gets around.

I'm honestly baffled by the google results for how many a few is. I have always thought a few is exactly 3, a couple is exactly 2, and several is anywhere from 4-9 (although 6 can be a half dozen). 10-11 would be almost a dozen. I always thought it was a set language rule in English, but I guess I was wrong. Learned something totally random on a Mad Max video, lol. I grew up watching Mad Max in the 80s, when we went to our dad's for the weekend we got to watch all the good action and horror movies back then. lol. Loved Fury Road, still have to see the new one.
