Storm losing her powers leads to one of her best storylines. Yes, having her without powers for a while will be disappointing, but the character development she will get will make it worth it.
I keep reading this and I’m so hopeful. I want to look up the comics but I don’t want to spoil myself since this show is doing the characters justice.
@melcak I can second this. Storm is one of the best, but most underused in things outside of the comics. And this actress lends a powerful voice to this grand character. It's heartbreaking, but in the end you will not be disappointed.
Powerless Storm was peak! Yes she's amazing with powers the problem is that most write just to as someone who reminds you that they're strong but not much else. Without her powers you see just how capable she really is, I really hope they follow that era of the storyline.
@@seevideonow this has gotten me thinking today as well. The idea that she is a mutant, that her powers make her who she is. This can be said in our misunderstandings today of associating someone with a type or category of people in real life. Being a mutant (replace this with ANY minority or 'other' that you'd like) does not define her. This is the place that this storyline needs to go.

It depends on how close to the comics they are trying to be? Which they have already done some different in the comics, she gets that moahawk after loosing her powers.

That's not what is shown. She was flying the plane, when Ms. Marvel attacked her. Rogue grabbed her from behind and drained her. Perhaps there was earlier missions, as Mystique refers.
Rogue and Magneto had a fling when they lived in the Savage Land. That second Jean is the real Jean, the one that was pregnant was a clone of Mr Sinister named Madelyne Pryor, aka the Goblin Queen.
Storm losing her powers will give her a well-deserved main character story arc. Remember, what doesn't kill only makes you stronger. A hurricane is coming.
The Storm story is from 1984's Uncanny X-Men #185. Where she is shot with a special weapon by Gyrich protecting Rogue. Of course we see in this she's protecting Magneto from the Executioner. It's during this arc when finding how to be normal where she finds herself and 1st dons the mohawk but the show already gave her the hairdo. Personally I'm excited for this arc cause it means there will be some heavy Storm focused episodes.

First thing I felt when I saw the episode! The similarities are uncanny! Back in the 90's those animated scenes would have seemed "over the top", but right now they are so relevant and so close to real life!
One of the things the 2000 X Men movie got right about Rogue was that she doesn't JUST get peoples' powers. She also gets personality traits. In the comics there were times that even her speech changed to sound more like Carol Danvers. Her Southern accent would be gone and her dialogue would be different. As her powers gott more potent she learned she could syphon knowledge and memories.

I was pissed at what happened to Storm too, but let’s just think about how epic her comeback is going to be. You know they gonna give us a whole episode dedicated to her going through some trials to get her powers back & come back more powerful than ever. Who knows. Maybe she will go to wakanda. We saw a black panther cameo on the OG show. Maybe this time they will finally meet. I’m excited.

Ororo loses her powers in the comic book and she gets her powers back by another mutant who is an inventor(That mutant have we seen in the original show) but it took her a long time to get her powers back and her journey before she gets them back and it's not always a pleasant journey.

I never watched all of the seasons of the original show, but this ish here is a whole freaking soap opera. I'm here for it!
The 97 series is the closest thing to comic book cannon storylines you are gonna get. They fit in all the OG storylines, Storm losing her powers, Magneto leading the X-Men, two Jean Grey's; the movies could never compete. I can't wait to see what other story arcs they are going to dive into! I am loving this series so far. Also, we all know Storm's powers being lost isn't permanent. Nothing going to keep Ororo Munroe down for too long. The X-Men storylines were always a soap opera.

Yup Storm lost her powers for a while, that’s when she gave herself the Mohawk haircut and changed her costume to a punk rock design. She also took over as leader of the X-men during that time, even though she was powerless!

Storm didnt "lose" anything.. she rose up and protected Magneto and it was taken from her! She always protects her group and didn't know what would happen just wanted to protect. Let's hope she is back before the end of the season. Also, isn't the season 2 still being made with the guy who was leading it fired?
Magneto's "M" costume first appeared in New Mutants #29 (1986 I think) then again in Uncanny X-Men #200 for the trial.

They're doing a lot of stories from the comics. STORM losing her powers is part of a very important arc for her. In the comics, FORGE helped her get her powers back. I ALSO said WAKANDA should be helping with their advanced technology and Medical advancements

For those of us who have read the comics, this show is like a serialised What If...? run. As surprising as those last 10 minutes where, get ready for Ororo's human wonder years and the multiple forever Jeans.
Magneto's costume was 1985 in Uncanny X-Men 200. Rogue and Magneto is comic book cannon. They even get married in the Age of Apocalypse. Storm losing her powers also happens. And I will not spoil everything, but the doppelganger for Jean Grey begins an important part of X-Men lore and gives away who the big bad is going to be for this season.I will say one name, Nathaniel Essex. I am mad for doing this to Storm regardless. It was nice having two Black Superheroes, but that might be too much for Disney to handle that amount of power lol!

I was glad for them to show how strong Storm really is but to take her powers in episode 2. I'm hoping this doesn't last more than a couple of episodes. I'll be mad if they sideline her for most of the season.
He’s with Maddie the Goblin Queen… that baby is Cable… at the door that’s Jean coming back from the Phoenix Force hiding her … pulled from the Xfactor comics… Storm this is her journey from the Morlocks to return as the leader of the X-men that whole journey in the Uncanny X-men comics from that time… that explains the Hair Cut… they are pulling from a lot of comics at once… interesting… but staying somewhat true to it all …

We have two episodes coming up called life death part 1&2. Storm gets her powers back and she connects to her more goddess aspect. That's if they copy the story line from comics. Storm jumps in front of the same mutant power removing gun when it was about to be used on Rogue, and the issue storylines are called Life Death.
After the initial shock of storm, losing her powers wore off, Married to the Real, was the first thing I thought about.

Hi the other Jean is a clone by mister sinister named Madelyn Pryor she didn’t know she was a clone since she was discarded as a failed experiment by sinister but given sentience by the phoenix itself.
Their Jean was swapped with a clone known as Madelyn Pryor. Now if you remember in the comics, Nathan Summers (Cable) is not the son of Jean Grey.
Storm is a mystic mutant, she only lost one half of her power's, she still has her magic powers. There's a reason why before she became an X-Men she was worship as a goddess, morph got an hellva upgrade with his powers. That's the real jean grey and the one is a clone
That was an incredible episode!!The writing was superb!! In the comics Madeleine Pryor is Jean Grey. The storm arc is also is the comics.. Happy they are putting some actual thought behind this episode was 🔥
All this is based on the comic stories, seems they are taking different
storylines of the xmen and putting it in different episodes... Storm losing her powers, to the Magneto and Rogue relationship in (The Age Of Apocalypse)..
This is great that they are going off the comics stories, but refreshing that it's done randomly to fit the tv show..
Good reaction, Storm will get her powers back in time I believe after she goes on a personal journey. As for the other Jean I believe the Jean at the door is the true Jean Grey, the one that gave birth is either the Phoenix who like in the comics replaced the true Jean placing her in a cocoon and taking her place and memory or possible Scott’s old friend Madelyn Pryor is too blame for all of this.

There is a rumor that Spider-Man will be in the X-Men. As of Storm this happened in the comics. When she came back with her powers she was higher than Omega. I think if 97 is successful we will get Spider-Man I hope.
